Why does the ipad mini not ship with earphones? it dosent make sense to me!

Apple are one of the biggest players in the music industrie, so why no earphones with the mini?

You will have to ask Apple.
I suppose cost is one reason.

  • Why does the iPad Mini not have music play count?

I bought an iPad Mini and also have a macbook. I had listened to various music on my iPad Mini the other day, however when I connected the iPad Mini to the Macbook and iTunes via the lightning connector to sync, it synced the ratings I gave the songs I listened to on the mini, but no play count, as if I had not listened to anything. I hope there is something I can do about this as I often look at my play count!!

It should work work but these kind of bugs pop up between updates, both hardware and software. Try closing all apps in the recently used list on the iPad. Double tap the Home button, tap and hold one of the icons at the bottom till they wiggle then tap the to close them. Tap the Home button to get back to the Home screen then hold the sleep button till you see the slide to power off message. Once it has powered down completely hold the Sleep button till the Apple icon appears.

    Does it even really matter...?
Many people including myself rely on playcounts to control smart playlist to manage large libraries. Smart playlists can be created to show your most or least played tracks and used more or less as your favorites or other uses. Along with playcounts the date is transferred so to keep a fresh list of music on my smaller iPods a smart playlist set to songs not played in the last month keeps some fresh tunes on it.
Playcounts are also used to manage Podcasts in iTunes to delete older episode. Bookmarks, which can also be effected by this, can mess up audiobooks, movies and podcast playback between different devices. So yes, it does matter.

  • Why does my iPad mini not receive 2.4ghz signal but does receive 5.0 ghz signal?

I have an iPad mini that does not receive a signal from any router on 2.4 ghz, but does receive a signal from the same router if it is 5.0 ghz. Since most public wireless systems broadcast on 2.4 ghz, I am unable to use the mini anywhere except my home office, where I have dual frequency router. I have checked into every technical help site I can find, and most of them suggest resetting the mini, resetting the router, etc. Nothing works so far. Is it possible that the receiver in the mini is defective? Has anyone else had this problem?

There is a problem with iPad Mini's as this has happedned with two separate mini's. I have been to every Apple related site that I can find, and have reset both the units and the Netgear router in my home office numerous times without success. I'm a retired electronics engineer, formerly in Silicon Valley, so I'm reasonably confident that I haven't missed anything obvious in troubleshooting this problem..
I have been to the local Apple store and have had a couple of consultations with the geniuses there. In each case they have confirmed that the units will not receive a 2.4 ghz signal but will receive 5 ghz.  Apple stores only have 5 ghz wireless so it took a while for them to understand the problem and I had to connect to a 2.4 ghz system with my iPhone5 to a department store next door before they would believe me. They did take back the first unit and within two weeks the second unit had failed in the same way. 5 ghz OK but no reception on 2.4 ghz. Since most public wireless systems are on 2.4 ghz, the unit is rather worthless when I am travelling.
I use an iPad2, an iPhone5 and a Macbook Air and we have two other iPads in the family, all of which are on the same 2.4 ghz wireles system and all functioning properly. I can only conclude that the 2.4 ghz transmitter/receiver in the iPad mini has a fundamental fault and hopefully Apple will recognize it and have a fix. In this case it will have to be a replacment unit as it's unlikely a technician would be able to replace the electronics in the field.
I  would like to hear from anyone who has observed this same problem. Unfortunately, most of the advice on these forums concentrate on resetting the iPad or the router and fail to understand that the  problem is hardware related and not software related. Perhaps this could be the beginning of a dialogue and a potential fix for the problem.

  • Why is the ipad mini's shipping date late November?

So the wifi + cellular version of the ipad mini will arrive late November for Singapore? Anyone know the reason since it'll start selling on 2nd November? I want the free engraving but I'd rather get it in the stores if I can get it on 2nd November.
    iPad mini 64gb black slate

The reason is because that's when Apple can provide it there. We're all just fellow users and have no more detailed information as to production and distribution than you do. Many factors are involved, including getting regulatory approval from your government which in the case of devices will cell capabilities are often more stringent; in fact, the Apple Store in Singapore says "Pending for agency approval" for the WiFi+Cell model.
Beyond that, all we can say is that it'll be available when it's available.
    Regards.

  • Why does the remote app not work with Apple TV 1st gen anymore.

This is a review I just left on the app store, I am posting it word for word, and i hope that dowsnt complicate anything. My hope is that this finds the right party to address the situation, and if any user has a fix, I would love to hear it.
I have an Mac mini running iTunes as a server, I have 2 airport expresses to allowing airplay to them for different rooms, and I also have 2 Apple TV first gens... I can play one stream of music from the server, and have the option of playing 2 other streams of music from the apple tv's as they have a built in hard drive to sync music to. I can send any of the feeds to any o the devices in any room and i love it. This whole system used to work flawlessly... It doesn't anymore. The latest update of remote broke what was working so well. I can pull it up and see all 3 music sources, log into each and play music, no problem there. The problem is that when I want to log back into that device, it won't show what music is playing. It loads up to a trackpad... Why do I need a trackpad? the point of a wifi remote is that it interfaces directly with the library, not needing to see the display...  Annoying enough in itself as none of my devices are actually hooked up to a screen, but whatever, annoying point aside, I back out of the trackpad and refresh the device playing music... The music is playing, but won't show on my remote, I can't pause, press next song or anything. I have to start over and pick a song and override the currently playing song. Even the volume control is broken. I used to control each volume of each of the multiple devices individually, they each had a slider in the multiple speaker view, now there is only one master volume slider... One speaker is in my baby's room... If she is sleeping I don't want to have to go into the room to physically adjust that speaker, I want an individual slider like there was before.
I used to be very happy with this app. I'm not anymore. I used to praise apple and promote the functionality of it to all of my friends. Now I'm just embarrassed when I can't control it when they are over. Embarrassed....
As another fail.... I want to describe another point. As I have the iTunes server, it should be able to handle multiple things at once. It can to an extent... For example, I can play music from the server to an airplay device, and I can go onto my iMac, load up iTunes, click on shared libraries ad load my entire library from my server. I ca also at the same time take my iPhone, click on music, and again pull up my entire shared library of music from the wifi server... It handles this very well. I recently purchased an Apple TV 3. As it does not have a built in hard drive, it relies on content from a locally attached network or stuff from your iTunes account. So while I can use my iPhone to pull up the entire shared library while its also playing elsewhere, why can Apple TV 3 not?... It's using iOS just like my iPhone. All it was good for was airplay as an extra speaker. It wouldn't work as an extra rendered source of media using the shared library. Needless to say, that Apple TV went back to the store. Fail Apple, Fail.... That was the only reason I bought one. Maybe Apple TV 4 will actually be functional without a hard drive.

    Working fine on my system
    If on wifi, try ethernet
Make sure router is up to date
    Reboot all components

  • Why does the iPad AppStore not show sub categories ?

I always search around on my iPhone and come across a new app but on the iPad you can only see featured apps, is there a reason why it is like this, why we can't browse apps like on the iPhone.

Dude why do you have to be a nub? You know what he means. Don't suggest using your computer to search. That is ignorant. The whole point in getting a iPad is to replace using a computer for easy day to day usage. Especially in this case. Searching the iPad app store is a joke. I been messing around with this thing for a hour trying to do stuff that takes seconds on my iPhone. There is they key statement. iPhone! Can you say iPhone? The iPhone has a superior search function to the iPad. There is absolutely positively no reason get go sit at my computer to search apps when I can do everything I want from the comfort of my bed on my iPhone at night. So apple got it right on the iPhone but dropped the ball on the iPad app store. Sure I can search from my iPhone but I want to search iPad specific apps in the RPG games category. Is that to much to ask? The iPhone already does it so don't say goto your computer. I have bought a ton of games I didn't even know I wanted by searching sub categories on my iPhone. I'd like to think this was a oversight that will be fixed but looking at older post it seems this has been the case for awhile, so it leads me to believe there is some evil pay apple to get yours apps featured thing going on.

  • Why does the iPad mini keyboard do erroneous self-correcting keystrokes?

My iPad Mini keyboard replaces regularly two keystrokes. It changes the lower case with upper case on the two punctuation keys (the ", and !" and " and ?" Keys).   I have to correct the inappropriate changes this does to text in emails and other apps as well.  For example, when I introduce a comma "," in a sentence to introduce a clause or series of words, it will change the comma into an exclamation point.  Similarly, when I use three dots to indicate text deleted or ignored, the dots will be changed to three question marks.
This happens when typing in Apple apps and non-Apple apps.  It seems a hardware issue. I never had this with my very first iPad or any of my iPhones. If no one else has reported this going on with their iPad Mini (mine was bought last December so the original model), perhaps it is a defect unique to my iPad Mini.
I have to read over everything typed.  In general there is so much "Apple-determined correction" going on with the Apple keyboard.  This is the most obvious and erroneous.

    reset all settings
    settings-general-reset-reset all settings
    now reconnect to wifi
settings- wifi- click network name- enter password - join
if issue persists back up and restore as new via iTunes

  • Why does the properties menu not appear with the templates?

    Hi,
This is a bit hard to explain but maybe someone will get it.
If you draw a div on your deisgn window 'draw AP div' then
click somewhere on that div again, in the design window, then you
get a list of properties at the bottom such as width, height, top,
    left, z-index etc....ok.
Now if i load the '3 column hybrid header and footer
template' and click on any div on the deisgn window of this
template then i dont get this properties menu at the bottom. The
width in the css template are set in 'em' btw if that matters.
Now i am thinking there is a fundmental difference betwee the
divs in the template than drawing a div using the 'draw AP div'
    tool.??
It's kinda of like the templates are using pure css whereas
the AP div is a mixture, ok i am sure i am WAY of the mark here and
this is just a little thing. Can someone explain?
    thanks for any advice!

    > Now if i load the '3 column hybrid header and footer
    template' and click
    > on
    > any div on the deisgn window of this template then i
    dont get this
    > properties
    > menu at the bottom.
That's because the div *you* created was Absolutely
    Positioned, and there is
a specific inspector for absolutely positioned elements. But
    the divs in
the 3-column hybrid header and footer are NOT absolutely
    positioned and so
you do not get the special inspector. If you are not sure
    about the
difference between absolutely positioned and non-positioned
    elements, then
you would be well advised to NOT use absolute positioning
    until you do. It
will create big problems for you if you ignore this.
    > The width in the css template are set in 'em' btw if
    that matters.
That makes the container expand in width as the font size is
    expanded by the
visitor, which is what is meant by the 'hybrid' term in the
    sample file's
    name.
    > Now i am thinking there is a fundmental difference
    betwee the divs in the
    > template than drawing a div using the 'draw AP div'
    tool.??
Yes, definitely. This may help you understand positioning a
    bit -
There are 4 different types of positioning:
    Absolute
    Relative
    Fixed
    Static
Here is a brief explanation of each kind of positioning (with
    regard to
placement of elements on the page only)....
    Position:absolute (or A/P elements)
    This does several things -
    1. It 'removes' the element from the flow of the code on
    the page so that
it can no longer influence the size or position of any other
    page element
(except for those contained within it, of course).
    2. The absolutely positioned element takes its position from
    the position of
its closest PARENT *positioned* element - in the
    absence of any explicitly
positioned parent, this will default to the <body> tag,
    which is always
    positioned
at 0,0 in the browser viewport.
This means that it doesn't matter where in the HTML code the
    layer's code
appears (between <body> and </body>), its
location on the screen will not
change (this assumes that you have not positioned the A/P
    element within
a table or another A/P element, of course).
    Furthermore, the space in
    which
this element would have appeared were it not positioned
    is not preserved
on the screen. In other words, absolutely positioned elements
    don't take
up any space on the page. In fact, they FLOAT over the page.
    Position:relative (or R/P elements)
In contrast to absolute positioning, a relatively positioned
    page element is
*not* removed from the flow of the code on the page, so
    it will use the
    spot
where it would have appeared based on its position in
    the code as its
zero point reference. If you then supply top, right,
    bottom, or left
    positions
to the style for this element, those values will be
    used as offsets from
    its
    zero point.
This means that it DOES matter where in the code the
    relatively positioned
element appears (, as it will be positioned in that location
    (factoring in
the offsets) on the screen (this is true for any placement in
    the code).
Furthermore, the space where this element would have
    appeared is
preserved in the display, and can therefore affect the
    placement of
succeeding elements. This means that the taller a relatively
positioned element is, the more space it forces on the page.
    Position:static
As with relative position, static positions also "go with
    the flow". An
element with a static position cannot have values for
    offsets (top, right,
left, bottom) or if it has them, they will be ignored. Unless
    explicitly
positioned, all div elements default to static positioning.
    Position:fixed
A page element with this style will not scroll as the page
    content scrolls.
Support for this in elements other than page backgrounds is
    quirky
There are several other things you need to know:
    1. ANY page element can be positioned - paragraphs, tables,
    images, lists,
    etc.
    2. The <div> tag is a BLOCK level tag. This means that
    if it is not
positioned or explicitly styled otherwise, a) it will always
    begin on a new
line on the screen, and b) it will always force content to a
    new line below
it, and c) it will always take up the entire width of its
    container (i.e.,
    width:100%).
    3. The placement of A/P elements *can* affect the BEHAVIOR of
    other
    elements
on the page. For example, a 'layer' placed over a hyperlink
    will mask that
    hyperlink.
You can see a good example of the essential difference
    between absolute and
    relative positioning here -
    http://www.great-web-sights.com/g_layersdemo.asp
You can see a good demonstration of why using layers for a
    page layout tool
    is dangerous here -

  • Why does my ipad mini not have any sound?

My ipad mini does not have sound in any of my apps (mostly games). Sound is on in settings, and sound is turned on in each app. It is a first generation mini, not a retina display. Thanks for any suggestions.

First try a Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the Steps in this article to force the device into Recovery Mode.

  • Why does the logitech s715i not work with my iphone 4 anymore?

Anyone have any ideas?  I can find a few posts around the internet but not been able to find a solution yet.  Is this something the next iOS release will fix?  I know audio is making it through to the speakers but it's very, very faint (depsite vol turned to the max).  My old iPod nano works fine but i hardly use it...

I too have experienced the Logitech s715i error message stating something like, the accessory is not a supported device of the iPhone. The speakers will charge my phone but will not "connect" to play music. I have an iPhone 4S running version 6.1 (10B142).
I too have contacted Logitech for support and am awaiting a reply.
Can we get some help over here?

  • Why does the icloud syncing not work with iWork?

I'm getting quite fed up with trying to get this to work. Tried altering all the toggles in the icloud preference on my idevices, nothing makes a difference. I've also deleted files in the hidden library folder on my macs. Didn't make a difference.
How do i fix this? I have searched all the forums on the web now and nothing makes it work. Does anyone here have a magic solution?

No, i know the desktop version isn't fully compatible yet. I thought it was obvious it was for the iOS I was using. Sorry about the misunderstanding, should've explained myself better.
It doesn't work to upload documents from my desktop to iCloud.com either.. It's a real bummer. I'm rather disappointed with apple over this. With Steve's presentation in June I was really enthusiastic about it and now this. Why can't one just be able to sync properly with Dropbox within pages, without the doubling of files that WebDAV gives you.

  • Why does the beta version not work with Norton password verifiaction

After installing Beta 4 and launching the program the auto fill-in of passwords provided by Norton Security no longer functions. I remove the beta version and launched the older 3.0 version and all worked as it should.

Norton doesn't support pre-release beta versions of web browsers, and with Firefox it has taken 6 to 8 weeks '''after''' to get their stuff compatible and then fixed & compatible with some Firefox major releases. It's almost like they were surprised by Mozilla releasing a new version of Firefox. It was like they waited until the release and customer's started complaining about the lack of support, before they even started working on their updated version for Firefox.

  • Does the iPad mini retina come with a screen protector already on it?

Yeah I removed the plastic covering the entire device so I guess I'm seeing scratches. Back to the Apple Store I guess... Ugggh

  • Does the ipad mini come with a micro sim card?

I am interested in purchasing an ipad mini w cellular option.  I am moving to the UK for a year and want to use a provider there but switch back to a US provider next year. Does the ipad mini come equipped with a micro sim card?

The US AT&T model comes with an AT&T SIM. For other carriers you will need to get a nano-SIM from the carrier.

  • Why does my ipad mini keep glitching.  We keeps randomly doing stuff on its own while on not even touching it?  I've tried restarting it by holding down lock and home button about a thousand times, it never works.  so could you please help?? thanks(:

why does my ipad mini keep glitching!! /:

Your iPhone doesn't require as much power to charge as your iPad needs so there is a possibility that the charge could have a problem even though you were able to charge the phone. If you can try a different power adapter and still have no luck, then the only thing left - IMO - is to contact Apple support and see what they advise.
BTW  ....   Copied from your first post ...
i then decided to do a reset or restore by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake button down.
I'm not trying to be a nitpicker - but what you described is a hard reset and your post gave no indication that you tried a software restore - which I referenced in my post. That's why I suggested the restore.
Many times restoring the iPad to factory settings can help "revive" the device. If you have tried restoring according to the two support articles that I directed you to and still have no success, you are probably out of luck getting any further help on this site. That's all that you can try at this point at least AFAIK.
