Why doesn't Pages proofread for verb agreement?

Why doesn't Pages proof reading catch stuff like verb agreement.
Apparently in Pages this is an acceptable sentence:
"We is going to the store."

Set the language to check to "French". You may be sure that your odd verb will be flagged
Edit : my 12 years old French Grand son just came to tell me good night.
He saw the sentence and said :
"papy you made an error, we is a plural pronoun so don't use is but are "

Why is the page asking for a username/passoword?

I am updating a client's site that was created by someone
else. The html pages are pretty basic, and each have an swf file as
the main part of the page. I had to add a new page to the site, and
I opened an existing html page, updated the swf to the new content,
and uploaded this new html page and the swf page to the server.
Also, the global navigation is an swf file too, which I
updated to include a link to this new page. I updated that swf on
the server as well.
Now, when I try to go to this new page, the browser is asking
me for a username and password. The new html file exists in the
same directory as all the others. The new navigation swf file
appears and works fine, but I cannot access this new page. What
gives? I didn't setup any password protection on this file. I have
no idea why it is asking me for this.

I have Adobe Reader X on Windows Vista. Why doesn't the Printer for Adobe PDF show up in my Hardware/printers? Or can I add it to the Hardware/Printers?

Adobe Reader - FREE - reads PDF files, prints them, fills forms.
Adobe Acrobat - $$ - as Reader, and makes PDFs and edits them, sorta, and does a bunch more.
So if you had Acrobat try and find the license to avoid having to pay again...

Why doesn't Preview shortcut for 'Go to page' work

In Preview, the keyboard shortcut key for "Go to page" is supposed to be Option-Command-g.
This is not working for me in Preview 7.0 under OS X 10.9.5.
How fix?

The menu item does work. But it's an inconvenience to have to mouse up there to the Go menu and then select the Go to Page item from the drop-down list. Which is why I wanted to use the shortcut.

Why doesn't the url for a page not show when I open a 2nd firefox window?

Whenever I open another Firefox window, the address bar is blank. If I type in an address, it'll navigate to the site but all subsequent sites will not be reflected in the address bar.
Also, why is there an orange "Firefox pull down menu" always on these secondary windows?

On the orange Firefox "pull down menu" menu, do you mean the [[How do I get the Firefox Button?|Firefox Button]] that replaces the Menu Bar (at the top left of each Firefox window) or something else?

Why doesn't Page Display obey its setting in Preferences

Using Reader 9.2. I have Page Display setting in Preferences set to 'Single Page Continuous'. Yet when I open a pdf, the Page Display is set to 'Single Page' instead of 'Single Page Continuous'. Why?

Probably not. The default setting is "default" which allows the viewer to control it with their preferences.

Why doesn't pages appear in automator?

I succesfully made an Automator workflow that converts Word documents into PDFs, but it doesn't work for Pages documents. Infact, Pages does no show up in the Automator library of actions.
I am using Pages 5.0.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Scripting support in iWork 13 applications is pretty much gone. Apple will be updating the applications in the next few months, but if you don't want to wait you will need to revert to the older versions.

What is wrong with Disk Uility? Why doesn't it work for anything I try to do?

So I have been having a lousy time of upgrading my roommates computer. He has a Mac pro mid 2010 (Ill get the exact model # when he comes back) and he asked me to put in 8 GB's of RAM and a 1TB Hard drive. So I thought it would be an easy task, simply swap out the RAM and HDD, copy everything over to the new HD and he'd be all set. Unfortunatly, Disk Uility seems to fail when I do anything!

These are just TWO of the problems that I have encountered while attempting to do what I stated above. After failing at trying to copy over the files, I attempted to install OS X via the startup manager and it worked and I was even able to use the "Startup manager" to boot into it. But his Mac won't recognize it internally!
Even simply attempting to shrink his old HD's partition encounters the error "The disk could not be unmounted" (and I tried with the single partition mounted, and with it unmounted.
I am a windows guy. If he had had a windows computer I would know 1001 tricks for doing exactly this. I even know enough linux to do this on Ubuntu or CENTOS. But the OS X utilities seem laughable, even worse than the Windows Backup Uility (and I thought that was the worst utility ever!).
So what is the problem here? Is it his whole computer? I am having him return the 1TB HD he purchased to see if that was the cause, but after attempting to shrink his old one and having that fail, I don't know what the heck it could be besides the recovery manager or the computer itself. Disk utility says everything is working great, but I know that can't be right.
Are there some other programs out there that could verify that everything was working ok? I can't even boot up my own recovery OS's via my flash drive on that Mac.
***Side Note: in the "new hard drive..." thread, Grant tells me that OS X doesn't have a default startup disk after I flash the NVRAM, and that I have to specify one. I think this is wrong because After flashing the NVRAM and having the Mac STILL not recognize the new HD, I was able to put the old one in and boot it without having to specify anything.***

Thanks for the response. Unfortunatly those documents are of no help to me. I have tried several times to boot into the AHT, which didn't work. And attempting to do an internet recovery won't even allow me to log into my wireless network, even though I know the password is correct.Let us try to go through this step by step, as I've been doing.
1) After resetting the NVRAM it still does not see any new hard drive, and I don't need to select the old HD to boot from it. If it is in it works.
Therefore this means that it is
a) not the SATA cable
b) not the new hard drive because my friend got his replacement HD today and I checked them both out. They both work fine on my other friends new macbook pro.
2) The old hard drive can boot up regularly, and the new one can be seen via the SATA to usb connector and booted from, but not via the internal SATA connector.
Also, I still can't boot into Parted Magic, or any other rescue OS I have.
This seems like a very specific problem, and it definatly wasn't anything I did. I followed troubleshooting steps like I normally do and it wasn't a clusterfuck as you so elequently stated.
Please take the time to respond to all of my questions this time, I feel like you are overlooking some very important information.

Why doesn't update link for Google Earth plugin work?

I was able to update the plugin.
However, the problem that remains is that the link which Firefox provides in the plugin-up-to-date report does not work! This would appear to be a bug; and, until it is fixed, lots of folks will continue to be confused by this behavior.
(There is also additional confusion attributable to Google, in that, if you visit their Web page for the plugin, it tells you. "Good news, you already have the plugin.", even when you are not running the latest version. That message tells you what version you are running, but it does not mention the current version for comparison.)

HT4896 Why doesn't the popup for special characters work anymore?

This feature used to work, then about a month ago it stopped. I've tried messing with the keyboard delay and repeat functions. Search online only brings up how to disable. I study languages and history, the special character pop-up was a godsend, so I would really like it back.

Why is the Pages app for iPad Mini not working?

For the last few days I have been having major issues with the word processing application Pages for the iPad. It is taking a very long time to show me my documents, then it takes just as long to open up documents. Then when it finally opens up the document I have selected; the entire functionality is extremely slow and sluggish.
I turned the iPad on and off several times to see if that would help. I deleted the pages app. I even freed up some extra space on the iPad. None of these things have resolved anything.
If it is at all relevant I am using the most recent version of Pages (especially since I re-downloaded it). I am also using the latest version of iOS 8 on the iPad. My iPad is synched to iCloud. I have a maximum storage capacity of 20 gb (to which I have only used 675 kb). I am using the first generation iPad Mini (which is the very first iPad mini)
What could be the problem?
Should I reset the factory settings of the entire iPad? I'm at a loss of how to resolve this.

The problem may be due to slow internet access to icloud where the document is being stored and saved.
Try creating a new document which is not on iCloud to see how the performance is.

Why doesn't Safari cater for FCK Editor?

On a couple of websites I run that use FCK editor, Safari doesn't show the tool bar of FCK Editor (as Firefox does), it just shows html code.
Does anyone know if there's a way of correcting that and making Safari usable?

Apple's web browser was updated 16 April, 2008 to version 3.1.1.
It would seem that FCK editor needs an update to address changes with Safari version 3.1.1 if that's the versions you are using. Contact them and let them know their Safari compatibility is no longer as of the new update released 9 days later.

Why doesn't Quicktime 7 for windows connect to the internet?

I know others that have quicktime and when they updated their's wouldn't work either. I get a white screen when I try to view trailers as well. Is this because it only works on macs?

I've had this problem for a couple of weeks. I use FireFox, and have QT7 Pro.
I had not upgraded to QT7.0.4 when I first experienced this problem. Basically, I get the the "question mark" over the QT logo in a white screen where the video stream would normally appear. I haven't upgraded my version of FireFox (1.5.0.1) since this problem. I first thought it was an HD problem as it requires more memory, but even when watching non-HD trailers I still have this problem.
I now have QT7.0.4 but the problem still exists.
I don't like using IE, but I just tried it on IE and both regular and HD trailers appear to work fine.
Is my problem a FireFox compatibility problem?
I have already unchecked the Flash content option, and in FireFox I of course have ticked QT Player for .mov content.
Any ideas/suggestions?
