Why Firefox 4 for Linux x86_64 doesn't load upgrade to 4.0.1?

OS: Fedora 14 x86_64
Firefox 4 today found an upgrade to 4.0.1 and offered to download it and install.
However, it ends up trying to connect to updates server, this phase never ends.
Does the automatic upgrade work in Forefox 4 for Linux?

See:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update (Software Update not working properly)
Remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.
You may need to delete active-update.xml and updates.xml as well if present.
You can probably find the updates folder in the Firefox program folder.

    - clear all cookies and cached files in your browser

Thanks for that; I have done all that you suggested and moonlight successfully installed.

  • Why no plugin for Linux?

I heard the reason why a Linux plugin isn't being developed is because Skype is trying to make Skype for Web available on every device without a plugin. Don't you think you could at least quickly throw together a plugin or quick update to the Skype for Linux version because the Linux version of Skype has been dead for quite a while, and we still lack basic features like group video.
[Topic title updated by moderator to be more descriptive. Original topic title was: "Linux"]

Is there any ETA?It's kind of pathetic that us Linux users have been lacking with a fully working version of Skype with the same features Windows and Mac gets whenever your servers are probably hosted off of Linux machines.

  • I can't download Firefox 64bit for Linux

Hi. I'm a proud owner of a 64bit machine with Linux (Debian). I try to understand where to download the latest version of Firefox.
I see several green big button with "download Firefox" or "update Firefox" here and there, but all redirect to a 32bit version. So I try the little link above, "All Systems & Languages", but this page contains 32bit versions only of Firefox.
So, please, where can I find an x86_64 release of Firefox?
And by the way, because I will need it soon, where can I found a Linux for PowerPC (32bit) release?

Thank you, I download and I try it.
I'm wondering whether it could be any hope to have a link in the Firefox download page, but I will do everything possible to spread this information.

  • The print.print_to_filename option in about:config no longer works in Firefox 10 for Linux

I have an older linux box with firefox 3, I believe. And, in about:config I can set the option print.print_to_filename to a path then when I print it defaults to the path I want it to save the PDF to. However, on my new box which has FF10.01 such option doesn't exist and creating it doesn't seem to have any effect. Was this removed? It was a great feature. I don't want to have to install and configure cups again as firefox does the job fantastically. Is there a workaround or can this be brought back in the current version?

The problem exists with https://www.nytimes.com/ so, as a workaround, you can use http://www.nytimes.com/ (not https) or http://nytimes.com where I don't see the problem.

  • Firefox preview for pdf files doesn't show certain Cyrillic scripts.

Since pdf preview support was added in Firefox I can't find a solution for the missing Cyrillic letters in the preview of the pdfs which the software in my company generates.
Other pdf software/browsers with preview don't have issues with the Cyrillic script regardless of localization and OS as the fonts are embedded in the pdf.
Can you please help with finding some documentation to use as a reference point for finding the solution for this issue?

    Hello,
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Oracle 10g for Linux x86_64 download problem

    Hi all!
Due to security restrictions in our company, I can't download these two files from download.oracle.com - this
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/linux/oracle10g/10201/10201_database_linux_x86_64.cpio.gz
    and this -
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/linux/oracle10g/10201/10201_companion_linux_x86_64.cpio.gz
because they have .gz extension. Has anyone have got theirs, - would you be so kind to rename files to .zip and share for two-three days till I download theirs to my desktop?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sincerely yours,
    Maksym.
    P.S. Sorry for my English.

  • 11G ODBC Driver For Linux x86_64

I've got Oracle Database 11G installed on a machine running Fedora Core.
I'm trying to find an ODBC driver for it, but I am not seeing anything except for one made by EasySoft that you have to pay for.
Oracle's documentation claims that they have ODBC drivers, but when I go to the software section all I see is one for 10G that was last updated in 2006.
Am I just not looking in the right place?
    Thank you.

    Sudheendra,
Clicking on your link provides a location where the instant client can be downloaded. However, the last x86-64 instant client with ODBC is 10.2.0.4 and (as you have mentioned in other threads) this is not "officially" support. Furthermore, there is a bug in this version that appears when trying to run any query (connect is OK though). So, can't use 10.2.0.4. It appears there are no 11.x versions of the x86-64 instant client that support ODBC.
So, given an x86-64 system, where everything is running 64-bit, what are we to do with regards to an Oracle Instant Client?
I have mysql, Teradata and SQL Server all running fine with 64-bit ODBC. Is my only choice to go back to all 32-bit libraries?
    Thanks!
    Keehan

  • Download problems for Gridcontrol agent 10.2.0.4 for Linux x86_64 bit

Is anyone else having gateway timeout errors trying to download the agent above or any other agent?

This seems to be an issue with Oracle download. When we try to download any thing from http://download.oracle.com/otn/ we get a TCP_Error. We've tried downloading from different networks and seen the same error.

  • Firefox says my operating system doesn't support upgrade. I have MAC OS X 10.5.6

When I tried to download the latest Firefox version, a message said that my operating system doesn't support the upgrade. But the information on download page says MAC OS X 10.5 or better is okay. My system is MAC OS X 10.5.6

Do you have a Intel processor or a PowerPC processor as your user agent suggests and Mach-O would indicate an even older OS X version than 10.5 (possibly OS X 9).

  • Tabs lost after Firefox crashed; Restore Session page doesn't load

Firefox 6.02 has been restoring previous sessions fine.
    But...
When I had multiple tabs open in multiple tab groups, Firefox started slowing down. This was probably due to too many tabs opened. Eventually, Firefox crashed. Normally, under my settings Firefox launches the Restore Session page. However, this time it somehow bypassed the Restore Session page and took me straight to my home page. All my pinned tabs and tabs in tab groups were lost.
This is the second time I'm experiencing this problem in two different machines, where one was running XP and the other was running Windows 7 x64.
How do I restore my tabs? I need these tabs really bad...

You thought that, it was a bug.

BUT, For me it was not bug. it was very good for me.
i want "Well this is embarrassing...." page AGAIN.

    Hi Tanya04,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The first thing I would suggest is to log out of your iTunes Store account on your iPhone.
Then restart the device and log in again.
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1311?viewlocale=en_US
If the above did not resolve your issue, follow the troubleshooting steps in the article below.
The link includes the complete details and screenshots, but I've highlighted a few points for you:
Can't connect to the iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1368
    - Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking on Check for Update in your device's Summary page in iTunes.
    - Check and verify that you are in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you are on a 3G capable device, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
    - Check to make sure you have an active internet connection. You can check the User Guide for your device for help with connecting to the internet.
    - Check to make sure other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the internet.
    - Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router
    - If the issue still persists see, iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connectionsoriOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!
    - Judy
