Why is Adobe still selling LR4 for installing on XP?

Adobe still describes LR4 as installing on XP sp3 and sells it as such, yet it's not possible to run on XP. £60 upgrade, I want my money back as I don't intend swithching from XP. Anyone else been conned ?

Huh? I see no such thing at all. It clearly only lists Vista, Win 7 and Win 8:
Windows
Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® 64 processor
Microsoft® Windows Vista or Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 or Windows 8
2GB of RAM
1GB of available hard-disk space
1024x768 display
DVD-ROM drive (if installing from DVD)
Internet connection required for Internet-based services*

  • Is Adobe still selling upgrades for CS1 to CS4?

    I think I may have waited too long to upgrade from CS (design standard) to CS4. I can't afford to pay the full price for CS5, and I think I could survive a few years with CS4. Is Adobe still selling the upgrades? I can't seem to find them on their site. Or do I have to search on eBay or Amazon? I am always a bit worried that I am purchasing something illegal on those sites...

    Here's one reason I went for it:

  • Aperture 3 update.  Why is there still no eraser for the retouch tool?

    Perhaps I'm missing something, but: Why is there still no eraser for the retouch tool?
    I realize you can delete retouch strokes, but they are in linear order so you often have to delete useful ones to go far enough back to get the one that you've decided no longer works.
    I would rather have the ability to erase strokes back to the original image, much like the way the History Brush works in Photoshop, and indeed the eraser tool works in many other Aperture bricks.
    Example, I retouch an eye, and then move on to retouch an ear.  Then I decide I don't like the eye brush strokes.  In order to remove one stroke on the eye retouch, I have to delete all the successful brush strokes I've made to the ear (i.e. those that came after the stroke I wish to remove from the eye).  This is needlessly complicated and inefficient.
    Many of other bricks in Aperture have an eraser tool to selectively remove brushstrokes.  Why not the retouch tool?
    Also, many other bricks in Aperture allow for stacking or layering bricks of the same adjustment with different brush choices.  Why not the retouch tool?
    Am I missing something?

    We are just users here.  Feature Enhancement requests need to be made via Apple's official approved channel.  You can get there from within Aperture by clicking "Aperture➞Provide Aperture Feedback".
    Retouching (and cloning) involves not just applying a transformation to the selected pixels, but basing that transformation on _other, non-contiguous_ pixels sampled from the image.  This leads me to think that there may be intractable technical problems setting up the kind of workflow you propose.

  • Does Adobe still release updates for Flash Player 10?

    Our users are currently on XP and are using Adobe Flash Player 10.3.183.18.
    Does Adobe still release updates for version 10 or do we have to go to 11 to be up to date security-wise?

    The latest update for Flash Player 10.x is 10.3.183.20; you can obtain the installers from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

    so here it is again:
    I have CC lightroom 5.7 / LR catalog 5  when I'm downloading updates on CC it shows LR 5 as an "install" option... why would LR 5 be ready for install if I already have LR 5.7?

    Can you zip up a few of your GoPro images, upload them to dropbox.com and post a share link, here, so others can experiment with them, or do you mean this issue is global to all camera models?

  • Why does Adobe Application Manager fail to install?

    I just subscribed to the Creative Cloud. I am trying to download applications.  The download starts with an update to Application Manager.  Each time, I get the error message,"We've encountered the following issues:  Adobe Application Manager failed to install."  I'm not able to install any of the CC applications.  [I've tried Acrobat and Photoshop.]

    I'm going to write this information cause it was so darn frustrating and after two days I finally got it - so here goes - resolution:
    I'm running windows 7, and was trying to download cloud which apparently I was forced to do based on my subscription base (was on CS6 before that)
    Step 1: start task manager and close ALL adobe running apps including akami session
    Step 2: click on the windows icon and type in search bar %appdata%, enter
    Step 3: in browser bar above of folder, click on "appdata" (my file directory when i typed step two was C:\Users\study\AppData\Roaming, and I need to be be at C:\Users\study\AppData)
    Step 4: Click Local, then Adobe, then oobe, delete the oobe file
    Step 5: Go the the following to download the "cleaner tool": http://download.macromedia.com/pub/creativecloud/cleanertool/win/Adobe_Creative_Cloud_Clea ner_Tool.zip
    Step 6: Unzip the file and click on the AdobeCreativeSuiteCleanerTool.exe, that was in my directory as follows (dependent on where you download and unzip of course) C:\Users\study\Downloads\adobe_creative_suite_cleaner_tool (1)\win
    Step 7: select (e) in the black box for "english", select (y) for yes, select creative cloud (whichever option # that is) and again anything with creative cloud (this did NOT delete my other adobe files, which I feared may - but I was simply instructing it to clean/delete the creative cloud.
    Step 8: close the black window
    Step 9: Click here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773  and download the creative cloud adobe application manager
    Step 10: Run the application
    Step 11: Log in and download the software you want
    If that doesn't work, what I did is between steps 4 and 5 I restarted my computer, then I went into task manager and closed all adobe apps.  I'm not sure I had to do this step but I was desperate after 2 days doing whatever.  Each tech person gave me different information.  The last person helped me best, but I spoke with her via chat AFTER I had rebooted the computer.  If you need support click http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html and I personally did the "chat" so I wouldn't have to wait.
    Hope this helps anyone who hasn't figured it out!

  • Why does Adobe keep releasing updates for Acrobat that make the PDF print option diasappear?

    I am really disappointed that after installing an update to  Acrobat 9 my PDF printer has disappeared from my printer list.
    This is the second time this has happened. The last time this happened Adobe were still supporting Acrobat 9 and they ended up having to remote in to my machine to fix it.
    Now I have to pay if i want that level of support!!! It begs the question why they release these destructive updates. Is it to force people to upgrade to X or purchase support.
    Can anybody give me some instructions on how to manually install the PDF printer?
    I am running windows 7

    Launch the Devices and printers setup utility through the Control Panel.
    2Select the \"Add a Printer\" option.
    3Click the \"Next\" button and select the \"Local Printer Attached to This Computer\" option.
    4Deselect (uncheck the box) the  \"Automatically Detect and Install My Plug and Play Printer\" option and  click the \"Next\" button.
    5Select \"My Documents\\*.pdf (Adobe PDF)\" in the port selection drop-down menu and click the \"Next\" button.
    6Select the \"Have Disk\" option and click the \"Browse\" button to open a dialog box.
    7Select the \"AdobePDF.inf\" file  located in the AdobePDF folder in your Program Files directory under  \"Adobe,\" \"Acrobat 9.0,\" \"Acrobat,\" \"Xtras.\"
    8Select the first item (top item) on the list of Adobe PDF Converter options and click the \"Next\" button.
    9Type \"Adobe PDF\" in the field for a printer name and click \"Next.\"

  • Why Has Adobe Removed The Option For Individuals To Purchase Software And Not Use The Cloud?

    As an individual who has been using Adobe products for about 25 years for my personal use and not as a business, I find the new policy of "renting" the software and using "The Cloud" for, at least in my case, a prohibitive monthly fee, to be totally unacceptable and will result in my no longer being able to afford using Adobe products.   I do not understand why Adobe cannot offer their new cloud program for individuals and companies that may wish to use the new system and have the resources to pay in perpertuity, but they should also have the option for those of us who would rather purchase upgrades for whatever programs we use and keep them on our computer without "The Cloud" service.
    I am 67 years old and living on a fixed income.  I basically use four adobe programs... Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, and Audition as I do volunteer work at a local non-profit radio and tv organization.  If I were to "rent" those individually it would cost $80 per month... so I could take the next deal and get access to all software for $50 per month... I cannot afford either of those.  If I could upgrade one or more of the  programs every two or three years... keeping them on my computer and not using "The Cloud," then continuing to use the products would be doable.  However, being forced into a program that requires a monthly fee and use of "The Cloud" which I do not need to use, seems totally unfair.   I certainly understand that there are  businesses and individuals who will love the new program, but why not have the option?  Or perhaps a "Senior" discount as you do for educators and students?
    Something to think about.  It seems Adobe may be moving to the "Cable Television" model of monthly fees that will go no where but up.

    Hey there, you may have heard that Adobe is continuing to sell and support CS6 for customers who prefer traditional licensing.  It's last year's version instead of the latest-and-greatest CC release, but it's something to consider if that's important to you.
    As far as a "senior discount" on Adobe software, there has never been one – but one thing to consider is becoming a student or teacher because there is no age restriction on that, in which case you may become eligible for education discounts.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why does Mavericks still show as not installed

    I did a clean install of Mavericks from usb and in the MAS, still shows that I have not downloaded Mavericks.  Grey button still says 'download'.  See screenshot. Is there a way to have it change to 'installed', so that MAS recognizes that it is downloaded and updates automatically when 10.9.1 drops?

    Hello Jay,
    Thank you for your question.  Unlike applications purchased from the Mac App store, Mac OS X will show "Download" even after it has downloaded.  This is beneficial if you need to install Mac OS X onto an alternate drive.
    If you have installed OS X Mavericks, you will still get the software updates even though you see the word "Download" by it in the Mac App Store.  As long as you see Version 10.9 in About this Mac, you are currently up to date:
    From the Apple menu, choose About This Mac. The About This Mac window shows your OS X version number.

    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • So why am I still being billed for my old plan 3 months after upgrading?

    I paid a rather large early upgrade fee to get a new phone and plan from T-Mobile to EE and have noticed even though i'd paid the remiander of my contract for T-mobile in lump sum they are still charging me anyway??? Quick google search shows this has been happening to people since at least 2013 yet they clearly have done nothing to sort it out??? Is this company serious? Now I'm probably going to have to go out of my way AGAIN and have to phone up AGAIN and sit on hold for 45 minutes AGAIN. All because YOU have made YET ANOTHER ERROR. AGAIN.
    EE SORT YOUR COMPANY OUT YOU ARE A JOKE!!!!

    Basically I had two numbers on T-Mobile, one contract ended on 03/05/2015 And the other I upgraded early to EE. I did this all over the phone. They explained i'd be paying the remiander of my contact in a lump sum which I have done and this lump sum is shown on my bills and payments on my EE account online. The payment for that EE contract has been going out in full every month at the ammount specified on my EE online account and my contract. No issues there. However another payment has been going out on the same day on a differnt diirect debit but to the same account for differnt amounts every month. I havent looked back fully but I have seen 3 so far one was £70+ the second was around £30 and the 3rd one which has been taken today was around £30 as well. So well over £100 has been taken from my account and I really can not see why.

  • Adobe still not paying for Jive support?

    Is anyone at liberty to comment on whether Adobe is still relying on the free bulletin-boartd support offered by Jive to the general public, as described in this five-year-old exchange on the freebie board?
    Bug in ForumService.getAttachmentsByMessageID() | Jive Community
    Hard for Adobe to make a point for the Adobe subscription model when they don't (or didn't) pay Jive for a service contract for these forums.

    Once again, a disingenuous response.
    Again, what matters is what Jive says:
    Brad Heller wrote on 8/3/2009 11:24 AM:
    Sorry for the delay -- some times we get back logged with customers we have contracts with and our free support doesn't get the attention it deserves. [empasis added]
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    But let's forget about the Jive board exchange, as well as previous posts in this thread.
    I know the forms are managed by Jive, otherwise I wouldn't be asking this question.
    My OP is still valid when rephrased as follows:
    Is anyone at liberty to comment on whether Adobe has a service contract with Jive or whether it relies on the free bulletin-board support offered by Jive to the general public?
    That was all.  You can go ahead and lock this thread if you wish, which you know better than I do.
    I'm unfollowing the thread and will not be back to bother you further.
  • Why do Adobe Reader and Flashplayer not install
    I download bot Adobe Reader and Flshplayer installers to my hard drive then run the installer file.  Get promped for permission to run.  The installer seems to start and the installer file gets removed from the hard drive but neither product installs?   Looking in Task Manager, the installer stays there (forever).  This is windows Vista, 32 bit
    The Flash Player installers from my link also have different names from the AIH installers.  Here are the direct download links
