• Why can't I copy and paste the music from my iPhone on iTunes 11 to a folder in my Music Library?

Why can't I copy and paste the music from my iPhone on iTunes 11 to a folder in my Music Library? I want to have a copy of the music on iTunes so when I update to a newer version of iOS I don't lose my music. And no I didn't buy this music off iTunes and neither will I use iTunes Match.

There has never been a function to copy anything from an iPhone and paste it to a computer.
All of your media should be in iTunes already.
If it is not and was purchased from iTunes, right click on the device and select Transfer Purchases.
If the media is not in iTunes and was not purchased from iTunes, how did you get it on the device in the first place?

• My web browser will not expand past the dock? The dock is always showing.

Any screen I englarge will not expand past the dock. The screen just sits on top of the dock, instead of in front of the dock like it used to. I don't like to enable auto dock hiding either.

To my knowledge and IIRC no window ever went In Front of the Dock. I can go behind it if you drag that window down from the title area but it won't expand from the bottom to in front of or even in back of the Dock. And that is the way it should be. It won't cover the menu bar either.
If you want the app to go farther then set it into Full Screen Mode.

• Making divs expand to the height of the highest div

I'm currently building my portfolio website. I'm not a coder and find it difficult so I really need simple answers if possible please. The page I'm working on can be found here: http://www.infomaticfilms.com/jack/jrimg/g_and_d.htm. It's far from finished as I don't want to move on until I fix this problem. This page will be a generic page for all the various project pages which means they will all have different heights. Rather than make individual pages for each project I'd like to make just one that I can use for all by merely deleting the content each time and re-saving the page. If you click on the Me or Contact link you can see the other pages to see the border. I read an article from Stack Overflow and I'm very close to the solution. I have a problem with Firefox though which adds 1 pixel to the right hand border. Here's the HTML:
<div class="contentAndBorders">
      <div class="borderLeft"></div>
      <div class="mainContentProjectPage">
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
        <p>Content goes here</p>
      </div>
      <div class="borderRight"></div>
</div>
I'm looking to put the content into the div with the class of mainContentProjectPage. I need the divs with the classes of borderLeft and borderRight to expand with the height of mainContentProjectPage which is what they do. It's basically three columns. The first and third columns are the white borders to the left and right and the middle column is for the content. Here's the CSS:
.contentAndBorders {
              width: 950px;
              position: relative;
              overflow: hidden;
.mainContentProjectPage {
              float: left;
              background-color: #F55816;
              width: 100%;
              padding-left: 24px;
.borderLeft {
              float: left;
              background-color: #FFF;
              width: 1.3%;
              background-attachment: scroll;
              background-image: none;
              background-repeat: repeat;
              background-position: 0px 0px;
              position: absolute;
              left: 0px;
              height: 100%;
              margin: 0;
.borderRight {
              background-attachment: scroll;
              background-color: #FFF;
              background-image: none;
              background-repeat: repeat;
              background-position: 0px 0px;
              width: 1.3%;
              float: left;
              position: absolute;
              right: 0px;
              height: 100%;
              margin: 0;
I don't really understand how it works, just that it does. If anyone knows a better way of achieving the same result then I'd be very grateful as this is the final part of my site. My question is does anyone know how to get rid of the extra 1 pixel on the right hand border? It looks perfect in Safari and Chrome. Any help and advice would be a life saver.
Thanks
Jack

I'm not a coder and find it difficult so I really need simple answers if possible please.
You need to understand HTML & CSS code.  If you don't take time to learn the basics, you will continue to be frustrated by the process, your results and by our answers to your questions.
PART 1
Height is determined by page content.  The more content a page contains, the longer the page is.  All sites contain both long and short pages.  So keep your design flexible.  Don't paint yourself into a rigid box.
The CSS height property should never be used on containers that hold text as this will vary from user to user depending on their device and browser settings.  Remove height values from your CSS code.  If needed to reveal a background-image, for example, use the min-height: property.
PART 2
All browsers add default margins and padding (spaces) to every html element.  If you want to shore up the spaces between elements, apply margin:0; padding:0 to all elements or incorporate a CSS Reset method into your site.  http://cssresetr.com/
Finally, when you need a plumber, hire a plumber.  Building web sites looks easy but it's not.   This site will be the first impression many people have of you and your body of work.  You don't get 2nd chances at 1st impressions.  So put your best foot forward. Hire an experienced web designer to help you or take some time off to learn everything you need to learn to do it right.
Best of luck,
Nancy O.

• Why doesn't Firefox stop scrolling past the top of the page?

When I scroll to the top of a webpage Firefox will not stop there. I goes past the top of the webpage and shows a white square to the left and a grey bar to the left, then it bounces back down to the top of the page. I want Firefox to just go to the top of the page and stop the way it used to do.

Hello BK_Malik, Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
check if is the Yet Another Smooth Scrolling add-on, just a guess !

• TS2516 Why does text disappear from some of the pages?  No matter what I do, to include reviewing spelling, the text will disappear in preview mode.

Why does text disappear from the pages in my iPhoto book project?  When I try to buy the book, it comes up with spelling errors (which are names that the dictionary doesn't recognize), but even after clicking "ignore", the text disappears when I preview the book.  Even this is inconsistent because the same words appear on other pages.  There is text on other pages that disappear for no apparent reason.  This has become very frustrating and time consuming.

Are you previewing using this method?  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2486

• The type inside the footer drops down 50 px below the bottom of page in preview mode. I already tried unchecking the sticky footer in the site properties for that master page.

I need to fix this footer text on the home page. The type on the master page is centered inside a white 50px box. But in preview mode, the line of text drops 50px down below the bottom of page. I unchecked the sticky footer in the site properties and also set the line of text as footer item. The setting was the same on my second master and it comes out fine.

Hi
The "content" div is styled to have 100px height and visible overflow. So the text is overflowing the div but the footer is  "unaware" / ingoring it and positions itself after "sidebar2"
Change the height of "content" to 100% and it should work.
Kind Regards,
Alex

• Why do my finder links expand at the bottom of the screen when I roll over them?

I turned my computer back on and now my finder buttons on my bottom menu bar (where iTunes, safari etc. is) expand to enlargen each app when I roll over them. How did this happen? How do I stop it?
Thanks
Lucas

Lucas,
Open System Preferences>Dock...and make the appropriate selections to match your Dock preferences.

• Why can't I copy and paste the images from web on Pixelmator or TexitEdit, or other apps? It does not happening with Safari, or Opera.

Hi foxnao,
This is a known issue with Firefox 12. You can see the bug here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=749527
It is fixed in FF 13 that should be release very soon. If it is big inconvenience you could download the Beta now.
Hopefully this helps!

• How to start your container div tag at the very top of the page?

I'm currently making a website for a friend and I can't seem to get my web page to start at the very top of the browser window. It seems like when you create a website in dreamweaver it want's to start it with a gap at the top. How do I take the top gap out?

Best if you upload the page you're working on to the web and post a link here so we can see what you're doing.
Try adding
body {
         margin: 0;
         padding: 0;
to your CSS stylesheet.

Hi,
To my knowledge, the photo of a domain user is stored in the thumbnailPhoto
attribute on the user's object in Active Directory Domain Services. It might be that the
thumbnailphoto attribute doesn't get updated after you change the photo.

• Why does Photoshop display colors differently from the other applications even in sRGB mode ?

Hello all !
Here is my problem :
Photoshop is set to use sRGB workspace (in edit/colors.../workspace/RVB).
If I understand correctly this is how all native windows applications work.
This means Photoshop and the other applications should display the same colors on a file with a sRGB profile.
Now this is the case until I calibrate my monitor.
When I do, Photoshop colors become different from the other applications (irfanview, explorer, browsers...).
The only way I found to let everything display the same colors is to set Photoshop to use Proofing/RVB Monitor.
What upsets me even more is that Photoshop colors look "better" to me (dark grays seem to dark to me in the other applications.)
I have read that this is because Photoshop takes the new profile into account and others applications do not. But I don't think this is relevant here because everything is in sRGB so the only profile is my monitor's and I think calibration is handled globally by windows : everything (including browsers, explorer, and Photoshop) changes color if I choose to apply the monitor's profile or not with windows color management tool ("use my parameters for this device").
Here is my system configuration :
- Photoshop CS4 (11.0.2)
- Windows 7 64 bits
- HP ZR2440W and DELL 2209WA (these are not wide gamut screens)
I have spent two days trying to figure the logics behind this and really am upset. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don't hesitate to ask me if there is something that is unclear or some information I forgot to mention.
Thanks in advance,
Yannick

That sounds like an invitation to continue to talk about the issue.  Fair enough.
I'm not sure where you're getting "insecurity"...  I am just trying to help you help others more effectively.
I invite you to re-read just the first sentence of what you wrote very carefully, putting yourself in the shoes of someone struggling with both the terminology and the concepts:
Photoshop (CMS) reads an embedded ICC profile and CONVERTS it to the custom monitor profile for a theoretical 'true color' display
Think about what "Photoshop (CMS)" might mean to a person who doesn't know the acronym might stand for "Color Management System" (which is I assume what you meant).  Adobe themselves don't call it "CMS", they use the acronym "CMM" (Color Management Module).  The term "CMS" is used in the computer industry for about a dozen different things.
While a color profile might have been embedded in an image file before it was opened by Photoshop, Photoshop works on documents.  A profile is not "embedded" in a document, it is maintained by Photoshop with the document and describes the color values in the document.  If Photoshop opens a document without an embedded profile, depending on settings and user choices it might assign a profile or it might even operate on the document without color-management.  Oversimplification doesn't help people when they're trying to learn new things unless it's described as such, for example, "This is a bit of an oversimplification..." or "Generally speaking..."
Not every monitor profile is a "custom monitor profile".  Quite often a standard profile (e.g., sRGB IEC61966-2.1) is associated with a monitor by the operating system as a default, or a factory profile is installed by a driver package or system update.  Your use of the term "custom" is a bit ambiguous and could be read as implying the creation of a profile using a calibration and profiling device specific to the particular monitor.
Photoshop's color management code does not convert an embedded ICC profile at all (read carefully what you wrote).  As I said, it transforms color values.  That was the key error in your description that prompted me to comment.
If ever there is a time to pick words carefully, it's in a color-management discussion.
