Why SocketChannel connection so slow in Linux Platform?

Hello everyone!
I have a server application, and when it runs on windows, everything is fine, as soon as it migrated to linux, the client connection will take as long as 12s to finish connect.
I don't know why,could anyone help?

Not sure, did you make any changes to your code between Linux and Windows (100% pure Java should require NO changes in code)?
Are you running the SAME version of the JRE on both machines? What kind of network setup do the two machines have - similar?

I am novice user of JSP & JDBC. I dont know how to make connectivity with database using JDBC driver and that is using Linux paltform. I read one tutorial for that they have given some code. But they have used <% import java.sql%> . The database I am using is PostgreSQL. So how to do that?

Same as JDBC on any other platform. Java and JDBC are OS independent.
The java.sql package is part of the JDK, of course. No action required.
If you're using PostgreSQL, you have to get their JDBC driver JAR and put it in your app's CLASSPATH.

HT1222 Why my connection so slow?

It so hard to get connection a lot of times, even playing games. I would loose service in a lot of areas and it gets me upset with that. I haven't this much problem with connection before. What is going on? I thought AT&T had the fastest connection.

Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
Also make sure to close some or all not needed apps in the multitask bar. Tap on one of them until they start to shake, then hit the little "minus" icon to remove them from the taskbar.

Connect to MS SQL server from OWB on Linux platform

Hi,
I want to connect to MS SQL server through OWB, on Linux platform.
I suppose I would use JDBC driver, and Heterogeneous services. Is that possible?
I did not see anything on JDBC driver for MS SQL server for Linux platform from Oracle.
Also, I was wondering is Oracle Gateway 10g for Linux a way to connect to MSSQL server?
Any leads would be appreciated.

This quite an actual topic for myself, so I decided to take some time to collect some information.
Start at:
* Oracle Generic Connectivity and Oracle Transparent Gateway - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/gateways/gateways_fov.html
You can use the free Heterogenous Services component named Generic Connectivity for connecting to SqlServer over ODBC. You will need to find (or purchase?) a third-party ODBC driver for SqlServer for Linux, e.g. from www.datadirect.com. Setting this up will allow you to define a databaselink to the SqlServer. Open Gateways implements a limited set of the oracle SQL, so you will have to find out what is possible and what not.

You can also use the Transparent Gateway for SqlServer (HS), which is about EURO 12000 per computer(!). This gives you a full implementation of Oracle SQL and you can access the SqlServer like it was Oracle.

Configure dial-up connection in Oracle Enterprise Linux Release 4-3.7.11

Hallo!I have just finished installing Oracle Enterprise Linux Release 4-3.7.11 so that I can set up Oracle 10g on this Linux platform.
But first I need to set up a few configurations e.g enable my OEL connect to the internet via a dial-up modem.
I have used my modem successfully on openSUSE 11.2 and Ubuntu 9.04 but I am unable to use it on OEL.
My ubuntu configurations are as follows
Connection Name:ZAIN
Number:*99#
APN:ke.celtel.com
How do I set up dial-up in OEL using the settings above?
Also,simple commands to restart the OEL such as shutdown -r now are not being found when I type them in the terminal.How can this be so?

Use wvdial to dial out using the modem, authenticate, and have it launch the pppd daemon for creating an IP connection via the modem.
If you want to configure manually, you will need to edit the files pap-secrets and chap-sercrets in +/etc/ppp+. Then you also need a unique config file for your connection defined in the +/etc/ppp/peers+ directory.
These files are fairly simple to edit. The secret files contains your ISP authentication details. The peers file the phone number and account name (from the secret files) to use. wvdialconf should configure this accordingly though.
There's lot of details available on the web - suggest you google.

I have a home Optimum wifi network with Boost connecting to an Airport, with a second Airport extending, and an Airport Express extending. I have a MacBook Pro, last year's model, two iMacs, a year old each, and an older iMac. (If necessary I can get all the models etc, but I just want to express the problem). The two new iMacs and MBP are running Mountain Lion. The older Lion.
Since upgrading to ML my connection speed both over the wifi and directly connecting to the router has dropped from 30-50 down and 5 up to between 1-4 down and 4 up. I have had the cable folks here to test lines. We've swapped out the modem with a new one. I bought a new netgear N600. Everything led to the same result.
Here's the odd part. When restarting the modem and plugging it directly into the powerbook, initial tests show 30-50 up and 5 down. But once you reconnect to wifi, lose speed, the re-connect directly to the modem the slowness persists directly connected to the modem.
So I start suspecting Mountain Lion. BUT the older iMac cannot be upgraded to Mountain and is still running Lion and has the same issue. The equipment is in the same place it's always been. We've added no electronics that would be interfering with signals.
Everyone is stumped and looking suspicously at the computer and OS. Please help. I'm beginning to hear the bing bong bing bong of dial up in my head.

Couldn't view the JMC startup menus on linux platforms

We are trying to invoke jmc 5.2 locally on a Linux platform having RHEL 64-bit server edition.
2.6.18-238.9.1.el5 #1 SMP Fri Mar 18 12:42:39 EDT 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64.
To view the GUI on rhel server edition we installed the respective packages necessary for X server.
We also verified whether are we able to view any gui app for example xclock. Everything went well.
But when we tried to invoke jmc we could see the jmx browser without any of the menu titles. We could see only boxes not the menu title.
JDK version used : /tmp/jdk1.7.0_45/bin

Unknown linux platform error

I'm creating a DLL on a Red Hat flavor of linux. However when i'm
running into the error "Unknown Linux platform" from
platdefines.h. I don't know why its throwing this error or idea
of how to fix this problem. If anyone could help it will be

I noticed in your first post you mentioned that you are trying to create a
DLL. I would assume that you are actually trying to create .so file as
Linux is unable to handle DLLs. I noticed that LabVIEW will still have a
default name of My DLL but it will actually be a .so file.
After looking through the platdefines.h file I was able
to determine the section that yields this error:

So it looks like it checks to see the type of processor that you have and if
it is not one of the types listed in the "if else" statements then it
will eventually get to the "Unknown Linux Platform" error. Can
you verify what processor you are using?
Also, is this the first time that you have tried to implement a solution
like this before? Did it ever work in the past or would you get this
error no matter what you tried to do. Please just let me know if you have
any further questions! I hope this helps!

Why is internett so slow with Airport express???

Hi!
I have a mac mini and a pc.
I sometimes think that my mac mini is so slow when I use Internett.
There is a norwegian page that I have tested it on... and the answere was alarmin:
My pc had a connection of: about 4000 kbit/s connected to wireless and airport express... and about 6000 with out wireless.... hmmmm I tested it many times...
My mac mini (which is in my livingroom) had a connection at only 919 kbit/s????
why is it sooooooo slow???? can I do anything to speed it up????

Anyways some things that I do believe that you forgot was cordless phones 2.4Ghz range, microwave ovens, DSS (Direct Satellite Service), Electrical things like power lines, Other airport/WiFi stations, and moving objects made of metal between the computer and base station. Those are all broad things. Usually things like that won't effect it but it really depends. For the cordless phone you just need to change the channel on the airport. I hope that helps, Good Luck!

Developer Steve Streza, iOS devices are programmed to ping a test URL upon connecting to a Wi-Fi network to see if it’s protected by a “captive portal.” And that test page has been down all afternoon…
Here’s more on that from Errata Security:
“When an Apple iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod) connects to a WiFi network, the first thing it does is make a request to the URL http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html.
The purpose of this request is to discover if there is a “captive portal” in the way. A captive portal is when, after connecting to the WiFi, any web request you makes gets redirected to a login/ToS page. In order to continue, you must either login with a username/password (or sign up, then login), and/or access the Terms of Service.”
Anyway, it sounds like Apple was able to correct this issue on their end, so no update will be necessary. But if you’re still having Wi-Fi problems, you can try the following:
Toggle your Wi-Fi off and on – Settings app > Wi-Fi OR
Set your device’s HTTP Proxy to Auto – Settings app > Wi-Fi > Blue icon next to the network you’re connecting to > Scroll to the bottom
One of these methods should cure your iOS 6 Wi-Fi troubles. If not, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

JRE slower on Linux

Hi,
I find that Java Applications run slower on Linux than on Windows. Particularly Swing apps are very slow to open on Linux. There is a difference of upto five seconds even while opening small apps.
Why is this so?? Is JRE not well optimized for Linux??

As far as i understand its a "sloppy" logging problem and has to
do with the xorg driver.
there is a debian report for it.

libxcb: sloppy locking needs to be on by default.
possible the libmawt code needs a small change.
i had the proble in a debian-lenny environment -- possible the fix
did not make the way.
