HELP!!!!! Please, I have a new HP G62 NotebookPC, w/Windows 7, I have Firefox 5, i love YouTube and try to do lots of gaming on Facebook. I cannot watch any videos, it will stop every few seconds, then start back after a while, doing this continually. It could take 6 hours to watch a single 3 minute video. My games are freezing up. The performance of this pc is poor, poor. Please give me any and all suggestions you might have for me. I am know way near a computer "geek", about all i do know is the keyboard. Please make these suggestions as simple as possible, for some of the stuff i've read in the support chapter is pure greek to me. I also have a 64 bit opr sys. I will even get the "time out" box when trying to check email or going to a website. It runs very, very slowly. Your help will be greatly appreciated, that is forsure. [email protected]
Also 2day firefox/mozilla crashed while i was trying to contact firefox support. Yes i sent a report in. It's super slow, like i'm on a dial-up or something. Sometimes it seems like its running faster than others, sometimes i can watch a music video, but say i try 10 diff videos, i might get to see 1 and that's maybe.

Firefox is incapable of opening sponsored links on eBay and Google, whether in a new tab or not.

This is due to the Ad Block Plus plugin. If you disable the plugin and restart firefox, it works. I'm guessing there might also be a tweak in ABP that might allow it to work, but I haven't found it yet.

Why won't firefox search?

Why won't firefox search when I type anything into the search bar? It lists everything I've typed in before but when you click search it just sits there doing nothing. If I use the search bar in the top right corner it searches just fine, but nothing from the central search line.
Also what is the line below this for? if I mouse over it I get a pointy finger, but it is blank and remains blank.

If you can't clear that saved form and search history then there may be nothing to clear.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Why won't firefox close

Why won't Firefox close properly? When I close the program and then try and restart it, I get an error message which says "Firefox is already open....." I then have to go into the Task Manager to close it down.
How can I fix this problem?

If downloads hang at the last minute (just before reaching 100%), the cause might be antivirus software which tries to scan the file and during that process hangs the Firefox instance.

Hotmail has been having a few hiccups lately I'm afraid.
If you don't see any emails when you log in, or nothing appears after some time, click in the middle of the grey bar on the left which has the word "'''Inbox'''" in it. This usually causes them to magically appear for some strange reason.
I've read on on a few blogs that Microsoft is working on the problem, but don't hold your breath.<br><br>

Thank you for your detailed question. It sounds like the real issue is pdf files. Are there any antivirus/firewalls that might be blocking this specific file type? or are there any preferences in your control panel that might be blocking this?

Ever since that blasted Heartbleed came on the scene, Firefox 29 has been driving me baka nuts! First it blocks legitimate websites. Now it won't let me install downloads of software and programs! It won't even let me open programs in my Start Bar or Task Bar! That includes Windows Update! Now I just tried to install RealPlayer/RP Cloud and it won't install! Firefox should not block programs outside of itself. Also, I don't think there were any changes in how Firefox works due to Heartbleed.
It has a line at top that says Firefox did not allow the program to open. I hit Allow and sometimes it disapears but usually it keeps coming back up.
Let's start with websites being blocked. What does that look like? Do you get an SSL certificate error page? Or do you get the mixed content block (shield icon) on the address bar? Or do you get the warning that the site is involved in phishing/malware? The more specific you can be about this, the better, since it may be an add-on or external filter feature that we need to track down.

Windows update needs to run through IE, either in the browser itself, or using the Control Panel widget. Firefox does not support the ActiveX controls used by the update site to scan the registry for previously installed update.
I am trying to find the page that tells me which IE I have and whether it's working or not but the page won't open.
For malware cleaning advice, there are a couple of dedicated forums listed in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. Those will be much more familiar with the safe use of the tools than we are here.
How do I know exactly what those detected objects are that Malwarebytes claims are dangerous? How do I know which registry entries are OK to delete/quarantine?

Why won't firefox open up again after i completly close it?

When I close completely out of Firefox, then later try re-opening it, it won't open. It acts like it wants to open but will not. The only other way to use Firefox after closing out of it, is by shutting my computer down completely. How else can this be fix? When i go to update Firefox, it says that the program is in use and cannot update till i close out of it, but I already closed out of Firefox... Whats going on? My Firefox version is 3.5.16, and my system is Windows 7.

Why won't Firefox 3.6.17 on Mac load certain web pages but will load others?

I'm using Firefox 3.6.17 on Mac (10.4.11), can anyone explain why I cannot access Yahoo, Google, Cnn, Bing, but can access other sites? Those web pages starts to load, then display (Untitled) in tab with a blank page. I have cleared everything in my cache and cookies and reinstalled Firefox and nothing helps. This problem started a few days ago and previously there was no problem and I didn't make any changes to Firefox. Thanks for the help.

Found a solution to the problem. The permissions for the firefox.app file were not set to admin - read-write. After adding this permission using the get info menu item when right clicking the file name in the applications folder, the tab now automatically opens when clicking on Email link.
