Why won't my iPod shuffle connect to itunes?

I just bought the iPod Shuffle 4th Generation and downloaded iTunes onto my laptop today. The Shuffle won't connect to my iTunes or my computer properly.
When I connected it to the computer (Windows 7), it said "unable to sync device" or something like that. I know it's not my USB ports because everything seems to work with it EXCEPT for the Shuffle. In iTunes, the Shuffle won't even show up in the devices. It's not my first time using iTunes. I used to have it on my old computer, but this is the first time this has ever happened to me. In terms of the Shuffle itself, I turned it on and pressed play and it just keeps saying "please use iTunes to music onto this device"
I already tried the troubleshooting guide, but that doesn't seem to work either ...

If that error message says "unknown device" (it's not about syncing), the cause may be iTunes not being installed properly. When iTunes is installed, it also installs drivers that allow Windows to recognize iPods. You should try installing iTunes again. You can download the latest iTunes installer here

It has nothing to do with the usb, restarting the computer or ipod, restoring the ipod, or any of that. What else could it be?

It's not an ipod problem. It connects to my computer and charges, it just won't connect to iTunes.
I don't have the newer version of iTunes because it won't let me install it. Whenever I try to update my itunes to the newer version this pops up:

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Why Won't My iPod Shuffle Reboot?

When I put in the installation CD it said I needed to format my iPod, so I did. Then it rebooted my iPod, and still hasn't stopped. It started last night.
This is the second time I've tried. The first time I stopped it after an hour, but this time it's been running almost 12 and still won't finish...

I would recommend restoring your shuffle to the factory condition, and seeing if this helps. You can do this with the restore utility that can be downloaded from the apple website. I presume you have the older white "chewing gum" pack shaped white-colored shuffle rather than the new 2G Shuffle (square in shape; aluminium finish)?

Why won't my iPod 4 connect through the charger port to a few devices?

Whenever I plug it in to charge or plug it into my computer to add music, it works perfectly. However, I am unable to plug it into a Sony speaker and play music from it. I am also unable to plug it into the glovebox port of a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. However, my cousin, who bought hers the same time I bought mine, can play music from hers to the speakers and to the car. I know the charger port of my iPod works, and I know there's nothing wrong with the car or the speakers, so I am very confused as to why it isn't working.
My iPod 4 is in good shape and I have had this issue since purchasing. I do have an iPhone 5, so the iPod isn't a priority. If this is an issue that requires a trip to the Apple store, it's not worth it.

Does your home theater system state it support iPod/iPhone? It is possible it requires a special dock as well. You will have to check the manual that came with that system, or with their support web site.

So I'm having issues with preparing my ipod to restore it. It recently went into recovery mode and I plugged it in today to restore it and after plugging it in (and iTunes being really slow) this message keeps appearing: itunes was unable to load data class info from sync services. reconnect or try again later. But it won't.
It has charged the four hours.
I let it register while I let my computer load.
But that took forever.
And it just charged it.

Okay, so I think it may be the cable b/c when I hold it just right it works much better. It still will get stuck on certain songs but when I try again it works.
