  • Why won't my iPhone sync to iTunes anymore?

I've had my iPhone for a few months, and after the last two updates to my iPhone software it hasn't been syncing. iTunes detects it, I can drag and drop things as per usual... but it gets to the last stage of the sync - "copying files" or something of the sort a and it will stay on that stage for HOURS! I've left it plugged in for several hours (even overnight) and there is no change. Is this an issue I can resolve somehow, or do I need to get into a genius bar and have them take a look at my device? (I'm really hoping to avoid doing so, because I've spent money purchasing apps and added numerous contacts since my last backup -- and haven't been able to complete one since being unable to sync to iTunes. I dont want to lose all of my recent items!)

    Hello Georgia,
I would be concerned too if music was not syncing over to my iPhone.  I found a couple of resources that I think might help.
First, if you are trying to drag the music over to your iPhone in iTunes (manual syncing), verify that "Manually manage music and videos" is checked:
You can find more information in the full article:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1535
You can also try syncing automatically and trying to resync.  You can resync content to the iPhone by unchecking "Sync Music" and then clicking "Apply" and then checking "Sync Music" and then clicking "Apply" again:
You can find the syncing steps in the following articles:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12313
iTunes 11 for Mac: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad

  • Why won't my 4s sync with iTunes 11.1.4 ANYMORE!

Hello, so my phone has worked "OK" for the last year and a half.  I sync it probably once every other day to my itunes on my PC.  I am using ios7 by the way.  Well, starting last week, whenever I plug my phone or my iPads in to sync, the devices pop up the little message "Trust This Computer? Your Settings And Data Will Be Accessible From This Computer When Connected."  So Obviously I click on "Trust", but when I do, the computer makes the sound that it was just ejected or disconnected and it shows absolutely nothing on itunes.  I have re installed itunes 3 times, rebooted both my phone and computer, used different cords, different USB ports, checked through the settings, read up online, and tried the wireless syncing (but it is all grey on the devices and computer so I am even unable to click on it or try it.) They randomly once while I was out of town did the wireless sync, but my phone wasnt even plugged in to a power source and I wasnt trying to do any syncing at that time.  I seem to have run out of ways, options and patience, so I am on here asking YOU!  I am into various Art careers that require me to have updated devices with pictures, music, notes, dates, etc... on them constantly, and this is really setting me back.. big time! So if anyone has any experience or knowlege with this error, I would highly appreciated your assistance! Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

  • I was using my iPad and then I locked it and now the screen wont light up and when I plug it into iTunes it doesn't show up under devices

I was using my iPad one morning looking at ebay, and then I locked it and came back and when I clicked the home button nothing happend. When I clicked the lock button nothing happened, when I plugged it into iTunes nothing happened and it didn't show uunder "Devices" on to side. Please help me I don't know how to fix this and it's been two days since it happened.

I would then try and do a hard reset like Fernando recomends if that doesnt work you might need to try a DFU Restore.

  • Why won't my podcasts sync from Itunes onto my Ipod (5th Gen/30Gb/Video)?

I have other podcasts that played on my Ipod before. But the newer ones are not syncing on my Ipod. I did have TV shows sync on my Ipod. Why they would only sync and not the others is beyond me. Also are podcasts the same as video podcasts? I know on my Ipod there are categories called "podcasts, or video podcasts". Please help!!

    Error messages:
    1. Some of the videos in your itunes library, including the video "Derezzed by Daft Punk", were not copied to the iPod "Ba25's iPod" because they can not be played on this iPod.
    2. Five different videos (podcasts - TV and Film) were not copied because the video format is not supported by the iPod "Ba25's iPod".
I've had other podcasts sync onto my iPod from a few years ago.

  • Why won't some music sync from iTunes to my iPhone 5?

I have purchased several items from the iTunes store with no trouble syncing and playing on my iPhone 4. Recently I purchased two iPhone 5's for myself and my son. His phone is synced to my iTunes account and can play all content. My phone initially synced all my music and comedy albums. Occasionally I would come across a song my iPhone music player refused to play. I would touch the song name, briefly see the song/album and it would flip back to my playlist/song list without playing or it would skip to another song. Sometimes skipping several songs in between and flashing quickly the song title.
To rectify this, I researched the problem on the forums and tried one of the suggestions of right clicking on the song in iTunes, converting the song to AAC and then deleting the original and re-syncing. After powering down and re-syncing, the 173 non-synced songs out of 808 purchased songs were no longer even on my phone.
I accessed the iTunes store through the app on my phone, found the non-downloaded songs in the cloud and manually downloaded them to my phone. Although I couldn't put them in the playlists I had created on iTunes (where they are checked and the playlist is checked for syncing) I did have them on my phone and they played perfectly. After my phone was plugged into a power source with iTunes open and my phone synced, the songs were once again missing from my phone.
I contacted Apple support and we spent some time trying different things:
    1) Selected tab under iTunes preferences for devices  "Prevent iPhone from syncing automatically"
    2) Reset all settings
    3) Backed up my iPhone for a restore - which we never did.
I spoke then with a senior support consultant and we then:
    1) Deleted the songs from my phone through Settings > General > Usage > Storage where my playlists remained but were empty.
    2) We re-synced all my checked playlists. The songs were still missing.
    3) On iTunes we selected "Sync all music". Songs were still missing.
    4) Went to iTunes Store via iTunes on my Mac, looked up purchases and downloads, re-downloaded missing songs (there were only six of them and happened to be the ones that I converted to AAC).
    5) Created new "Test" playlist and dragged two of the missing iPhone songs into it. Synced phone to include new playlist. Playlist appeared but was empty.
I had purchased two John Pinette comedy albums. One entire album will not sync and on the second, only two of the thirteen "songs" will sync. The support person asked if I wanted to change all of the m4a songs to mp3 and was going to show me how but when viewing the John Pinette "Still Hungry" album where the first and last song synced, they show the file ends with m4a, as do all of the songs that won't sync. This leads me to conclude that the file type isn't the issue, but that there is something corrupted with certain files from the iTunes store or a glitch that is incompatible with the IOS 6.1.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and have you been able to rectify it?

I have a similar problem and have spent three sequential days at the Apple Genius Bar before we were able to exclude most other possibilities and found that certain files (in my case all mp3s from CDs I own) that play just fine in iTunes 11.0.1 and that used to play in iOS 6.0.1 do not play in iOS 6.1. We restored the phone to factory settings and synced only a few of the music files that were problematic. They still did not play. We reproduced the problem on my iPad mini (iOS6.1).
Apple Telephone Support suggestion was to convert all mp3 files in iTunes to AAC (which according to Apple Website may degrade sound quality). No further suggestions or escalation but a recommendation to place comments on www.apple.com/feedback and, if there are enough complaints, someone at Apple might take an interest in this problem. Something has changed in iOS 6.1 where files that played on prior mobile system software no longer work.
Apple, please pay attention to this glitch with iOS 6.1.

  • Why won't my iPhone sync with iTunes? I have just switched from Vista to Windows 7.

I 'upgraded' from Vista to Windows 7 and now iTunes won't recognize my phone or iPad. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes; I have gone into device manager to check that the drivers for the phone are up-to-date and, apparently, they are. Still nothing. HELP! please....

Make sure you use the same Apple ID as on the old computer and iCloud.

  • Why won't my music import into iTunes?

I clicked on File, Add to Library, and then when i choose the song, it doesn't go into iTunes

Go to iTunes menu EDIT > PREFERENCES > ADVANCED Tab
you may find iTunes Media file Location box is blank(sometimes this happens after an update).
If that is the case, click the change button and link it to your iTunes Media Folder as follows:
    Win 7 C:\Users\<username>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media
    WinXP C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media
However,if your Media Folder is not missing from the Advanced tab, proceed to repair your QuickTime:
    Control Panel >
    Add n Remove Progrms(XP)
    Programs n Features(Win7/Vista)
highlight QuickTime, click CHANGE then REPAIR
    Restart Computer.

  • Why won't my iPad sync with iTunes?

It is stuck on the last step. i have restarted the computer and the iPad several times. it says "waiting for changes to be applied" and step"7 of 7" OR "step 8 of 8"...at the bottom, it shows in blue my audio capacity, however the iPad says there is no music in the library. at first it just wouldnt sync a few songs i bought on iTunes and showed them as shaded, now its taken all my music off the iPad and wont go past this last step. any further suggestions?

Are you on wifi or 30pin to usb? (no difference to the prob, but a possible workaround later can be done if connected by cable).
In the summary tab of your device in iTunes is your device set to Manually Manage in Options at the foot of the page.  And/or: -  Have you got a tick in the option 'sync only ticked songs and videos'?
Can you confirm what options for syncing you have under the tab Music (same tab line as where it says Summary, Info, Apps,)
    Regards, Ct
