Wi-Fi disabled on startup after installing 10.7.3

I have a late 2008 Aluminium Unibody MacBook (5,1) and installed 10.7.3 via software update without problems.
But when I turned the machine on next morning, Wi-Fi was disabled and could not be activated via the menu bar control or network pref pane. After a couple of reboots--two, if I remember correctly--the MacBook booted up with Wi-Fi active and connected (I use a Fritz!Box 7390 WLAN router with both 2,4 and 5 GHz networks, connecting via 5 GHz by default).
I did then repair disk permissions and re-applied the Combo update. No cure, obviously.
Same again this morning - no Wi-Fi on startup first, connection just after a couple of reboots.
Wi-Fi hardware (Broadcom BCM43xx 1.0 , firmware 5.100.98.75.19) always shows up in the system profile, it's just that it's disabled first.
No idea what's causing this issue - no problems on my side with reconnecting after wake from sleep, BTW. I never experienced any Wi-Fi issues until 10.7.2, so 10.7.3 has to be the culprit here.

welcome to the club, man!
No wifi after 10.7.3 on MBP late 2008 & MB white middle 2010
The only way I've made wifi working - cmd-R and recover from time machine to 10.7.2

  • Slow startup after installing on my StorCenter ix2-200 CE the latest firmware version 3.2.10.30101

    Hi,
After installing some weeks ago the new firmware version 3.2.10.30101, the startup of my device is taking consistently around 45-60 minutes to be full operative, accessing to its web interface or being mapped and available the different disk units that i have configured.
What about the corresponding warranty that should have the new firmware? If it has being published and recommended by Lenovo, it should have the corresponding period of warranty.
    So:
1.- Has the root cause been detected? Should we have a new firmware version solving it? Because it seems downgrade to previous firware version is not possible.
2.- Could you confirm a possible workaround? Disconnect network cable and startup device till consisten white led...?
3.- For an alternative solution, can it help to rewrite this firmware version? How is the procedure?
4.- Does full factory reset help? If yes, i can look for making a backup, and try it.
Waiting for your suggestion of next steps.
    Thanks for your support.
    Javi

    Hello jdehoyosr
My answer is still the same.  You would not have been able to factory reset the unit and retain your data without backing up the data first.  I have already clearly explained that the backup and restore feature could have allowed you to backup your settings/configurations to be restored after the factory reset.  You would have still needed to restore your data from the backup after the factory reset regardless if you had used the configuration backup and restore option for your settings.
The configuration backup and restore would not have been able to the firmware glitch that you were experiencing.  If would have had a previous backup file, it would only have applied settings that you had previously backed up. Depending on which restore option was picked it could have also wiped your data.

  • Getting error messages upon startup after installing Lab View 5.1.1.

I have recently purchased a DAQ system along with a computer, which uses a readout program written in Lab View. however, after installing Lab View 5.1.1 on this same system, I started getting some error messages and the readout program no longer works. Here are the error messages:
"The \SystemRoot\system32\drivers\nidmmk.dll device driver could not locate the entry point ?single PointWrite@mdsSimpleDIGPortPrimitive@@UAEXKKKAAJ@Z in driver Nidaq32K.sys"
    as well as
"The ordinal 2011 could not be located in the dynamic link library nidaq32.dll. An error occurred while loading VT Digital buffer write.vi"
I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.

    Hello,
Installing LabVIEW should not effect an installation of NI-DAQ. However, it seems to me that we may have installed a different version of NI-DAQ on top of the current version. This is very possible because the old LabVIEW CDs contain NI-DAQ on them.
In this case, there is not an easy solution, we could try uninstalling and reinstalling combinations, but it will probably save the most time and effort to uninstall all National Instruments products and reinstall them. The best way to do so is from the ADD or REMOVE Programs utility from the Control Panel. Then we want to remove the following registry keys (BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY!!)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\National Instruments <-- Delete the entire tree!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\National Instruments <-- Delete the entire tree!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\ or \ISA and delete registry entries containing any keys with 1093 in them.
Do not worry if any of these trees are not listed. If you have Administrative rights, and you still cannot delete these keys, that is also OK. Continue with the remainder of the process.
Make sure that you do not have any of your own VIs or other files saved in the "C:\VXIpnp", "C:\Program Files\National Instruments", or "C:\WINDOWS\nidaq" folders. If you do, copy them to a different location. If you are concerned about keeping old virtual channels and your SCXI setup intact, then backup the "C:\WINDOWS\niconfig.daq" file, too. Delete all folders and files mentioned above.
Note: If you have Windows NT/2000, replace "C:\Windows" with "C:\WINNT" in the paths listed above.
Once these steps are taken care of, we should have clean system. You probably want to reboot and then reinstall the software. You should install development environments first, and then install drivers.
Just let us know if this does not take care of the problem, or if you have any questions on how to complete a step of the process.
    Best regards,
    Justin T.

NOTE: Turning off virus scan programs greatly increases the speed of uninstalling and reinstalling.

  • Black screen on startup after installing security updates KB293357 and KB2937610 on Win 7 64bit

After installing security updates KB293357 and KB2937610 (both related to .NET) on Win 7 Enterprise 64 bit, my computer fails to start up correctly:
    - start up and windows boot screen
    - then black screen and computer freezes
The only option to this problem I found so far is do a cold reboot and then let system repair uninstall the updates. Is there a better way to solve this problem?
    System:
    Asus UL80VT laptop
NVIDIA GeForce G210M (driver version 9.18.13.2702)
    Win 7 Enterprise, fully updated

    Hi,
After you unstall the two updates, does the black screen issue completely disappear? We should first figure out whether the two updates are the culprits.
Since the two updates are related with .net as you mentioned, then here's a .NET Framework Repair Tool released by Microsoft, I suggest you try it and check if it cna detect something.

  • Macbook Pro won't startup after installing of 10.8.4

I just installed the 10.8.4 combo update package anf my Macbok Pro won't restart. After downloading the updates, the computer restarted itself, finished installing the updates, restarted itsalf again, anf when it gets to the gray screen with the Apple logo and the rotation icon underneath the logo, it just hangs. It goes no further than that. I let it run for about an hour before I tried to restart it manually, but I could never get it past that final screen. How do I fix it?

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is damaged and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a backup.
    Step 8
A dead logic-board battery in a Mac Pro can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

  • Slow Startup after installing Adobe Reader X and 9.4

Okay, I've been using Reader 9 since before i can remember, without any problems!  Now, after I install Reader X or 9.4, my computer will take about 5 minutes to startup.  After startup I have no problems with programs or performance.  What's wrong?  Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get Adobe Reader 9?

  • Visual Studio 2012 crashes at startup after installing Measurement Studio 2013

    Hi,
    History:
VS2012 (with Update 4) has worked without problems for a few months.
Installation of Measurement Studio 2013: at first, everything is ok.
Reboot of the PC: VS2012 crashes at startup, showing the splash screen, "not responding"
Deinstallation of Measurement Studio: VS2012 is working again.
Re-Installation of Measurement Studio: VS2012 is crashing again.
Repair-Installation of Update 4 of VS2012: VS2012 is working again ... until a reboot of the PC.
Starting VS2012 in SafeMode: working, but i cannot use Measurement Studio in this mode (of course).
PC is Windows 7 Professional 64Bit, Service Pack 1
I also reinstalled VS ... without success. Any other ideas?
Log of eventviewer has two entries, see attached File

    Hi,
There were no updates during that night, but some during last night. And I'm not sure if the update 4 really is responsible for that behaviour:
Yesterday after the crash I installed Update 4 again: it worked. Reboot: it worked.
Starting System right now: it is crashing again.
Currently  there are 3 Updates on the system related to VS:
    KB2707250 (The Update 4)
    KB2781514
    KB3002339
With KB3002339 an issue with ASP.NET will be fixed. Well....i'm not using ASP.NET, just a step in the dark: i made a repair installation of this update and it is working again. How long? Maybe even god doesn't know ...

  • Bsod @ startup after installing Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS

System is a custom built 2005 XPS running XP WMC 2005 Service pack 3 installed
w/ all the lastest Win patches, WMC upgrades, and virus protection.
It used to work great. Wanted to clean it out tho, so did a fresh WinXP WMC install.
Installed st off the original SB Audigy 2 ZS disk that came w/ the system.
Computer has to reboot in order for install to take effect, fine....np.
BSOD at startup before XP can load.
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    STOP : 0x0000000A ( 0x00000000, 0x000000C, 0x0000000, 0x804EBF8)
Reboot with last known working configuration, works fine. Maybe its the older drivers
I add/remove programs - Remove all Creative progs, go to Creatives website and dl
latest drivers - 2.8.00.exe. I reboot freshly, XP loads fine, hardware manager finds
new hardware (my Audigy 2 ZS soundcard) and wants to install. I just cancel out the gump
and go to where I dled 2.8.00 and run the install. Program must delete previous driver
in order to install the new version and reboot.....fine....np. Computer reboots fine, install takes and BINGO !
Ive got sound. MP3s play, 5. surround works fine.
Problem : Everytime I reboot the computer after this, I get the same Bsod noted above at startup.
I reboot, hit F8 and pick Reboot with last known working config and its boots fine except......no sound.
Ive done this 4 times now to make sure its the Audigy drivers/software pack. I get sound fine after the
st reboot when its finishing the install. Everything works great. If I turn off the computer or reboot after
that, its the Bsod @ startup.
If I leave the sound gone, I can reboot w/o any problems. Systems works fine w/o sound installed.
If I want sound I have to install 2.8.00, let it reboot to finish the install and I've got sound. I just cant
turn off the computer or reboot again or its a Bsod. The way it is now if I want sound, everytime I turn
off/reboot, I have to F8, reboot using last known working config, delete all Creative, reboot again this
time normally (it willbecause theres no Creative installed and it already had one good reboot), install
Creative and wait for the reboot to finish install.
Having to reinstall Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS everytime I reboot is unacceptable.
Ive never had any problems with Creative before and own 3 computers, 2 of which use Creative products.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

; Thanks for all the advise and help ! Couldnt have done it without these forums !(sarcasm)
Problem fixed. Creative's crappy drivers were not deleting with their uninstall programs
and none of their newer driver install programs deleted their older crappy drivers.
Driver Sweeper downloaded, run in safety mode, and wiped all Creative's crappy drivers
from the computer. Reinstalled the newest driver package (the same one that wouldnt
delete their older crap drivers) and everything runs fine now.
Id recommend ANYONE use Driver Sweeper if they're trying to reinstall any of this company's
sound drivers since they can't get their new driver packages to delete older drivers.
    Poor programming guys, really.

  • Lightroom CC6 on Mac quits on startup after install

Lightroom CC6 quits just after startup when first installed. And Lightroom 5 has disappeared. What should I do?
    Thanks.
I found the answer on the LightRoom Queen forum. Just sigh out of Creative Cloud, then sign back in again. The details are here:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/sign-in-out-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html?PID= 7221644

I downloaded Lightroom 5 from Adobe, and tried to use the Upgrade serial number - but to no avail.
Can you elaborate? What exactly happens when you enter the LR5 upgrade serial number?
LR5 should simply ask for your LR4 serial number and the install should complete OK.

PS. I've also removed and reinstalled the remote client on my PC without any change in this behavior.  The console on the DPM server itself works however.

    Hi Guys
the GUI crashes issue after R5 in the following cases
    Case1:
You have never protected the DPM server’s System State, with the DPM server itself
You have protected some System State from other Production Servers
    You upgrade to UR5
You trigger an inquiry on the DPM Server itself
    Case2:
You have a primary DPM server protecting the System State of a Production Server
You have attached the primary DPM server to a secondary DPM server for Disaster Recovery
You upgrade the secondary DPM server to UR5
You trigger an inquiry on the
primary DPM server in the secondary DPM server UI
    Then:
The UI crashes, and gets hung if you start it again
    Cmdlets are also unresponsive
    Workaround:
Stop all DPM services (MSDPM, Access Manager, DPM Writer, DPMRA, VssNullProvider)
    Backup your DPM DB
Open the SQL Server Management Studio (Either from Start Screen, or Run: ssms.exe)
Connect to the SQL Instance holding the DPM DB
Right click the DPM DB and click on “New Query”
    Paste the following SQL script:
    DELETE
    FROM dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObject
    WHERE
    ProtectedObjectId IN
    SELECT PO.ProtectedObjectId
    FROM dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObject
    AS PO
    JOIN dbo.tbl_AM_Server
    AS SRVR
    ON PO.ServerId
    = SRVR.ServerId
    WHERE (CONVERT(VARCHAR(4096),PO.ComponentName)
    = 'System State'
    OR CONVERT(VARCHAR(4096),PO.ComponentName)
    = 'Bare Metal Recovery')
    AND PO.ProtectedInPlan
    = 0
    AND PO.ProtectedObjectId
    NOT IN
    (SELECT
    ProtectedObjectId FROM
    dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObjectAlerts)
    AND LOWER(CONVERT(XML,PO.LogicalPath).value(
    '(/child::ArrayOfInquiryPathEntryType/child::InquiryPathEntryType[attribute::Type="Server"]/attribute::Value)[1]',
    'VARCHAR(4096)'
    )) !=
    LOWER(SRVR.ServerName)
    Press F5 to execute
    Start all DPM services
The UI and cmdlets should work normally as before

  • VS 2013 Crashes on Startup after Installing VS 2015 CT6

Hi, I installed VS 2015 CT6 to test my code base from VS 2013. It went reasonably well. However, VS 2013 will no longer startup; it crashes when launching. I uninstalled the VS2015 version using the command line, i.e., vs_ultimate.exe /uninstall /force).
After that, VS 2013 thankfully worked again... just thought you should know since it is obviously desirable when VS 2015 is released that it can peacefully co-exist with VS 2013 if desired by developers.

    Hi jla_work,
Actually you mean that your VS2013 doesn't work after you install the VS2015 CTP 6, am I right? If you remove the VS2015 CTP 6, the VS2013 will work well again.
Could you tell me the windows Environment?
As far as I know, we could install the VS2013 and VS2015 CTP 6 in the same machine, I installed them in my windows 8.1 Environment before, and they all work normally.
Before you really install the VS2015, please re-repair your VS, please also install the VS2013 update 4, and then re-install the VS2015 again.
Since two VS versions would require high configuration requirements, so you would think about your Windows Configurations.
To make sure that it is not the add-ins' issue, please also run your VS 2013 in safe mode after you install the VS2015 CTP 6 again, test the result.
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms241278.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
After you install the two VS versions again, please restart your machine, you'd better not open many VS Editors at the same time, for example, just open one VS2013 editor, test it again.
    Best Regards,
    Jack

  • System 10.3.9 freezes at startup after installing Security Update 2006-007

I installed the security update 2006-007 this morning and upon restart everything froze once the words "login window starting" appeared.
I tried a bunch of troubleshooting suggestions from the support pages ("Your Mac won't startup in OS X - 10.3.9 or earlier") including starting in safe mode, single user mode and dumping login preferences, network prefs, reset certain priveleges. None of these solved the problem.
Is the only work around for this to re-install the system?
PowerMac g4 dual proc. Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Ed,
I admit to being somewhat perplexed by your experience. But let me ramble a bit here anyway.
My opinion is that problems of the sort that you are experiencing (freeze after a software update) are almost always due to some software problem. (I base this opinion to a large extent on the experiences of other people in these forums.) The fact that your system works okay with Tiger is consistent with this idea.
But, if it is a software problem, why did it not go way when you re-installed Panther? I am wondering how you did the re-install. Was it an Archive and Install? That is the easiest approach and the first one to try, but there are some things it cannot fix. For one, if user settings and preferences are maintained during the A&I and the problem is related to these settings or preferences, then the problem will remain. In that case, an Erase and Install would be needed to clear out everything. Of course, this also deletes all of your data, so it is something you do not want to do unless you have a backup (which you said that you have).
Another thing that an A&I cannot solve is corruption of the filesystem (computer loses track of where some files start and stop on the hard drive). This problem can usually be detected and often repaired by booting off your install CD and using Disk Utility to repair the disk. You said that you used Disk Utility but gave no other details. I take that to imply that you detected no problems. If there are problems and Disk Utility is unable to fix them, a more powerful utility can sometimes do the job, and sometimes there is no solution except to reformat the hard drive and re-install the operating system. This of course destroys all data on the drive.
If there were a hardware problem behind this, the most likely thing in my view would be some bad blocks on the hard drive. I am pretty sure that Disk Utility, as used above, will look for bad blocks and mask them out if any are found. You mentioned something about 1 Gig of RAM. I think that RAM is unlikely to be the culprit. Problems with RAM usually are manifested as more erratic behavior that what you are experiencing.
You have already exhausted many of usual tricks, so what are your options? It sounds like you do not want to buy a copy of Tiger just to fix this and I can understand that. So, you could go to more and more extreme versions of re-installing your software. By this I mean using your Panther install disks to do an Archive and Install, then to do an Erase and Install if the first did not work, then to reformat and do an install if the Erase and Install did not work. Before doing either of these last two step,s you want to be sure that you have backup that you know works. You have said that "re-installing Panther does not fix the problem" and also that you "haven't done a system restore". It is not really clear to me what you mean by re-installing Panther. Was this from a backup or from your install CD?
If you want to avoid a re-install from your install CD as long as possible, then my suggestion is to attempt to troubleshoot the problem further by booting into Single User mode (which I think you have done). Once you get the disk mounted, I would suggest looking in the system.log file for an error message. Once you have mounted the disk, you can look at the end of the system.log file with the command
    tail /var/log/system.log
Look to see if any of the messages look like they might be indicative of a problem. If you see nothing, you can print out more lines by doing this:
    tail -40 /var/log/system.log
which will cause the last 40 lines to be printed. If you see any message that might be hinting at a problem, post it back here and perhaps someone will get a clue. I should say at the outset that this way of doing things takes a lot of patience and is not guaranteed to provide a solution.
I hope this ramble helps a bit. I know your are frustrated and I hope you get a solution soon.

  • I have a white screen at startup after installing Yosemite. Help!

imac 2011 goes to white screen and black cursor during startup

    Hello Hackdog1,
It sounds like you are unable to boot your Mac after updating to Yosemite  I would recommend you use the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve the issue:
Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup
Start with these steps, and work your way down the rest of the article if needed:
Disconnect, test peripheral devices and network cables
Note: "Peripheral devices" refers to external devices other than what came with your Mac, such as hard drives, printers, or hubs that you connect via a USB or FireWire cable.
Shut down your Mac. If necessary, hold your Mac's power button for several seconds to force it to power down.
Disconnect all peripheral devices such as external hard drives or printers (leave only the display, a keyboard, and mouse connected).
    Disconnect any Ethernet cables.
    Start up your Mac.
If you can start up this way, one or more of your peripheral devices (or installed software related to the device) is probably causing the gray screen issue. Connect one device, then restart your Mac to test for the issue. Repeat the process until you locate the device at issue. Make sure the device is powered if it needs to be to operate correctly. Check with the manufacturer of the device for support or possible software driver or firmware updates that may be available for the device. Try a different cable with the device if possible (such as a different USB or FireWire cable).
Note: If you have multiple peripheral devices and the issue only occurs when they are all connected, but not when each device is the only peripheral connected, see the Additional Information section below.
If you are using a desktop Mac with a third-party keyboard and/or mouse device, and the issue still occurs, try starting up with an Apple keyboard and mouse connected instead. Try starting with no keyboard and mouse connected, then connect them after start up. Also, try a different USB port on your Mac.
If the gray screen issue persists with no devices connected, go to the next section (with the peripherals still disconnected).
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • My Macbook Pro wont startup after installing OS X MOUNTAIN LION

I just installed os x mountain lion on my laptop and it keeps rebooting itself with an error message, it wont let me do anything else? please help

If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post shutdownStall, spin, or hang reports.
