Wi nSockets Error MDM

Hello:
Im working in MDM importing some records from Import Manager and sometime it crash and shows me the following error:
     WinSock Error on Send.
Then I have to start again the MDM repository.
Someone knows the cause of this error?
Thanks
Mario G

I have noticed this happening on our system a lot more frequently than it has in the past. As a matter of fact, it's happened twice in the past week, both times while trying to import. And yes, restarting the Import Mgr solves the symptom, but not the underlying problem. In our case, our MDM resides on one server, but the Oracle backend resides on another. My guess is that the connection between these two servers gets dropped and causes this error. I'm not a network guy, so I can't say with any certainty, that's just a hunch. You might want to talk to your network people to see if this might be the case for you.

  • Database error - MDM server installation

    Hi,
I installed SQL Server and then MDM server. Now SQL server is up, server sign on console is green,  when I try to unarchive repository archive, I got database error: error to initialize database. (I uses "sa" to connect )
What is needed to configure MDM to talk with SQL Server?
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    David

    Hi Subbu,
When i tried to set DBMS settings or unarchive repository, it prompt me <server name>[Sql Server] Initialization. Two entries are needed there:
    Data file path:
    Transactional log file path:
    I set them as following:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data
    then get error:
    "Unable to set current database with database server";
"The MDM repository list schema has not been created"
    I also tried to input as "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data\mdmsp3_Data.mdf" and C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\Data\mdmsp3_log.ldf"
    still get the same error.
Please put some light on this!
    Thanks!

  • Update Error - MDM

    Hi,
I update a record first time in MDM via an external program. It gets updated in MDM but the record gets locked.Next time i try updating the same record it does not allows me.I am using ModifyRecordCommand API to update.Do i need to do anything to avoid locking of records on update in MDM?Please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Rekha

    Hi Rekha,
The record may get checked out based on the workflow you are using. It should not be locked as such on updation, check if it is checked out/protected by some other user. You can try restarting the MDM server and then try again.
Hopefully it would resolve the issue.
    Cheers,

  • MDM 5.5 SP05 installation - Anyone installed it on SUSE Linux?

In accordance to my previous post, I will give the whole story of my installation in order to make it clear.
It is about a test server , running Linux SUSE LES 9.3. We want to install on it MDM5.5 (without NetWeaver -stand alone installation) and ORACLE 10g database.
So I started with the ORACLE 10.2 installation which went fine.
Now I am in the process of installing the MDM 5.5 on the same Linux server.
The installation guide is very poor regarding instructions for Linux like systems:
Extract the MDM Server, Import Server, and Syndication Server files from the archives with the
    following name structure:
    <server>.<incremental version>.<rebuild version>-<platform>-<compiler>.tar.<archive extension>
    2. Place the server files in the root directory under /opt.
We recommend to place and install all servers (MDS, MDIS, MDSS) in the same folder, for
    example /opt/MDM/bin.
    3. Install each server folder by executing tar -xvf <server file>.
    4. Delete the server archives and files.
    Launching the Servers
    1. Define a user account named mdm to run the MDM Servers on.
A process may not allocate more memory than the value of the ulimit -d command. So set
this value as large as possible for the mdm user. On some Unix-based OS, unlimited is
default, but on others, the kernel imposes a maximum value. Check your system carefully to
    determine the optimum setting.
For AIX 64bit, we recommend adding ulimit -d unlimited to the user profile of mdm.
    2. Log in as the mdm user.
    3. In the mdm account's home directory (or a subdirectory), set up execution directories for the servers.
The execution directories will contain various runtime files (for example, nohup.out for error
messages) that are created and used by the MDM server software. Normally these directories do not
    require any manual intervention.
We strongly recommend to set up an execution folder structure similar to the following example
to run each server process in its dedicated folder:
    ~mdm/mdm/mds
    /mdis
    /mdss
This ensures that the runtime files of the different servers are clearly separated.
Ensure that you make the dedicated execution directory the current one before launching one of
the servers. Use pushd to set the execution directory each time you run one of the servers.
    4. Launch each server (MDM Server, Import Server, and Syndication Server) from the mdm user
account by executing mds, mdis, or mdss from within the server's dedicated execution directory.
Do not run mds, mdis,or mdss from the installation directory or any subdirectory (this is the directory defined in the MDM_HOME variable).
So I have followed all these instructions but I am not sure what does it mean to "set execution directory"!!! My MDM home is /opt/MDM/bin under binI have mds, mdis and mdss with the respective scripts. I run them to launch the servers and I get the error:
    mdm@mucsapt2:/opt/MDM/bin> ./mds-r
./mds-r: error while loading shared libraries: libxerces-c.so.26: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
The libraries are there under /opt/MDM/liband with the right access rights.
The document says to run the mds-r from the execution path which should be under /home/mdm. Does it mean that I have to copy all the scripts there? It is not clear at all.
I am surprised, such  a big forum and nobody had faced this issue. Is there anybody who did the installation on Linux? From what I see there are not too many questions for the installation itself. Was it so straight forward for all you?
    Thanks in advance,
    Loukas

Unsupported Linux version should not make a major difference in this case...
This happens because your system runs out of swap space necessary for installer to fork and exec external process which configures the domain. Solution is to increase the amount of swap space available to installer - on Solaris this is usually done by cleaning up any unnecessary content from /tmp partition and shuting down non-essential processes prior to reinstalling. I suppose the same steps would help on Linux.
Before reinstallation you should also use provided uninstaller to cleanup this failed installation if you intend to install in the same location.

  • Problem with MDM Setup

I'm trying to setup an MDM server. Here's what I've done till now.
Configured a Windows 2008 server with an SSL certificate from a CA. ie. The server can be accessed ashttps://abc.com
Hosted a .Net webservice that listens to PUT.
Generated an MDM certificate from the iOS Developer portal.
Generated a Push certificate from Apple. The topic is something like com.apple.mgmt.External.035e7xxxxx
Added the server certificate to the Credentials payload of iPCU. This was done by
Exporting the server side SSL as a .pfx file
Adding this file to the Windows Certificate store
Selecting this certificate in the credentials payload.
I've hosted this profile on the server. When I download it on the device, I'm presented with Profile Installation on the device. When I install this profile, I end up with an error saying "The profile MDM could not be installed". On looking at the device logs, I found
<Notice>: (Error) MDM: Cannot Authenticate. Error: NSError:
Desc   : A transaction with the server at “https://abc.com” has failed with the status “400”
I suspect something wrong is selecting the certificate in the Credentials payload (Step 5).
Also when the Profile Installation screen is presented, I get "Not Verified" just below the the profile name.
    Need help with the configuration.

I started the process all over again. Here's a detailed description
Generate a CSR from Keychain. After this I can see a Public Private key pair.
Use this CSR to generate an MDM certificate from Provisioning portal. When I double click this certificate, I get it in the keychain.
Export this certificate. Keychain>>Login>>My Certificates>>Expand the certificate>>Export the private key as vendor.p12
Generate pList for Push certificate. Source: Softhinker

Run the Java code to generate plist_encoded
Use this file to generate Push certificate. Note: this certificate says :This certificate was signed by an unknown authority
Install all certificates generated in Windows Server. Added all certificates in the Credentials payload.
I get the same error. Can you tell me which certificate I need to select in the Identity section of the MDM payload? Also check the steps to see if I've done something wrong.
    Note: I'm not using SCEP.

But in 2005 B I did the same without using license file.
Moreover, I can access the other machine's(Server) Companies from different SAP B1 server by using change Server on Choose Company Screen.
But If I install the client on a system, I am not able to access the companies.
Is it mandatory to have License to install the Client of a server?
Is it new guideline in 2007 or was it already exist in previous versions.

    Hi Friends,

    Dear Experts,
We are posting a message from MDM to ECC via PI. Idoc was successfully created in ECC.
Our requirement is : getting a response message from ECC to MDM via PI. Message reached PI but not posting to MDM Port folder and in CC Monitoring error is as below::

Could you please provide your inputs.
    Thaking you.
    Hemanth

    Hi Hemanth,
Please check the Setting for Inbound Messaging (communication channel) of PI
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmdm71/helpdata/en/48/9854884d3217cee10000000a421937/content.htm
Make sure here you fill all parameters correctly along with <serverName>:<portNumber>, Port Code and Remote System Code etc of the inbound MDM port.
Also, check that there is no more than one MDM receiver configured per MDM inbound port in your system landscape. Deviating from this guideline can lead to a race condition state where different MDM receiver communication channels are monitoring the same MDM inbound port, and only the first one receives the import acknowledgment of the message.
Just check and revert with result.

    hi, quafto
I have download the hotfix above you mentioned(ftp://ftp1.businessobjects.com/outgoing/CHF/crnet11win_en.zip), but it still does not replace the old dlls with the new version ones.
I've reboot the system and re-installed the fix, but the ExportModeller.dll  in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\1.0\bin is still the old, it's not updated. Actually, all of the dlls in this zip fix package are not updated. I tried to stop www service and installed again, but it's the same.
The backup files are there, in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\Patches\Crystal Reports .Net 1.1 Weekly Hot Fix Patch\Backup of crnet11win_chs". Why is it "crnet11win_chs", same on yours?
    could you help me.
My system is Window 2003 server with sp2
    Thanks
