Width of webpage - currently too narrow

Hi,
I have a webpage done in the latest version of IWeb. I've never changed the layout sizes (it is on the default size at present), but my web pages do look very narrow. I'm not up on IT jargon, so can someone tell me in plain english how to make my page a more suitable width. I know its through the inspector>layout, but what settings are the best. I'd like a plain background (not a tiled photo). The website is carolann.com.au.

Carol ~ Welcome to the Support Communities. Apple says: "Safari on iPhone also sets the viewport width to 980 pixels, the width of most webpages." And apple.com appears to use mostly a width of 980 pixels.
By the way, bear in mind that iWeb pages in Safari don't respond to the View > Zoom In command. So you may also want to consider enlarging your text size in iWeb so that those without perfect vision can read it.

Getting "Paper too narrow" message. What actually senses paper width? Is it an optical sensor on the print head mechanism? Sorry should have stated printer type. It's an HP 2210xi all in one and it's been darn good until now.

In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

Larger iWeb Page/Window Width... too narrow by default!

My iWeb Window frame is too small (too narrow). I feel like I have little room to work with (there's too much "idle" space on the left and right sides); when I look at other sites (including this iWeb Forum Page), their Width's are wider. Is there any way to expand the default width on iWeb, so I can use more than 1/3 of each page?

The best width is 980px which is what Apple use. Change this in the Page inspector Layout window.

Report column too narrow

hello
I am making a report that has a column with 3 check boxes. the width of the column is the width of the column heading. how do i make the column width wider with out changing the column heading is there a property for this? it keeps wrapping the check boxes because the column is too narrow

I don't have access to APEX at the moment, but the usual way is to set a CSS style on the table column header. There's an option to add a string, such as the following, into the style section of the table header:
display:block;width:250px;overflow:hidden;

So Lion is still Broken… and Mountain Lion does not seem the fix the issue either…
Lion is not broken, you are simply having a lot of trouble adjusting to it and trying to forget your old habits. Lion is fine. And Mountain Lion not applying the 'fix' you believe is required does not bode well for your future usage and thus reverting to Snow Leopard may be your only hope of regaining these outdated features.

Display suddenly changed I have tried changing in utilities but nothing works. The print is enormous and out of focus the screen has shrunk in width but programs open too stretched in length? What can I do?

The display suddently changed two days ago. Everthing exploded in size. I have tried changing the contrast but nothing works. The display screen becomes either too wide, too long, or too narrow and in all cases the font is extra large and out of focus. What can I do please I am really disappointed since my iMac is only 2.5 months old.

Don't think so. But tried it anyway. I have been into utilities and tried different contrast settings now I don't know what is the right one. But no matter which one I tried I have either about a third of the screen black, with display centered as though hidden behind the black. What is going on?
Also, I have to say that I can't understand why there is no information anywhere on what the correct settings should be.

Device preferences dialog box is too narrow and cuts off check boxes - can't change synch prefs?

In itunes - preferences - devices dialogue box is too narrow - can't see check boxes - hence can't change synch settings. Have checked resolution and text size - both set at smallest.

Are you on Windows or Mac?
Look here to see where your Lightroom preferences are located on your system, and make absolutely certain that the user running LR has permission to read and write to that folder.

Screen too narrow

The screen of my MacBook Pro is suddenly too narrow. There are 2 black bars on either side of the screen and the actual picture you should see is compressed in the middle. I tried to change the monitor/screen settings but it didn't help. some programs seem to adjust to the narrow screen and others don't. what should I do??

Do you have access to an Apple Store? If so, you might make an appointment at the genius bar and have someone take a look at it. This could be a hardware problem.

How do I change the window margins & slider bars? The slider bars are too narrow for my preference.

The problem is I very often need to do subtle adjustmennts and Fn > F12 > Shift > Option is just too much of a stretch. Possible but **** tricky

I Developed Screen-exit For IW51 t.codeTypically the custom fields are displayed in the notification on a separate tab, or at the bottom of the u201CGeneralu201D or u201CMainu201D tab. These are configuration decisions that could be made in the build phase.
Sets of custom fields need to be added based on the notification type. The following table provides a list and details of the custom fields required. The table to be extended is the VIQMEL table (to be verified by developer).
Also to extend header fields on the notification you need to include them in the include CI_QMEL where OPEX M&I has already fields in.
All fields should go on the notification header. There are no custom fields on the task or activity level.
All fields should be reviewed for consistency with the M&I design, specifically, Thomas Brothers, Atlas Sheet, district code. See Dale Alano.

I accidentally set my ruler too narrow

I was trying to copy an arrange region by pressing alt-option and dragging. But I somehow set the ruler to be tiny. Everything is too narrow in the window now. How do I widen it back?

HP6110 Align cartridges problem "paper too narrow" message

I have put in a new colour cartridge and on pressing Enter to align the cartridges it looks like it is going to do it then it just pushes the paper through without doing anything and I get the message "paper too narrow load wider paper"!! It the same A4 paper I always use. I have removed all the paper, moved the paper keepers backward and forward and reloaded the paper. I have tried turning off, removing the power at both ends and waiting a few minutes and then switching back on. Same result. Also the print cartridges wont come back out when I lift the top so I can't take them out and replace them either. Can anyone help?

Header and footer display too narrow in IE

I'm working on a client website and have finished the basic template layout for all my pages. Everything displays beautifully in Safari, Opera, and Firefox, but in IE both the header and footer are narrower than the container. My header uses a background image which is 1000 px wide by 100 px high. The footer has a solid background color that is different from the color of container. The width of the container, header and footer are all set to 1000 px in the css. Any thoughts on what I can do to fix this?

Actually, it IS live on a test server, just not uploaded to the main server yet. I'm surprised (but happy) to hear it displays fine in an old version of IE. It isn't horrible in the newer version, but I'd like it to look the way it's supposed to, especially since it's for a client. Thanks for the heads up on the gallery tab - it doesn't make any sense since all the tabs are identical except for the actual text, but I'll look into it.

Negative number cannot be displayed in table if the column is too narrow

When a number is formatted as a certain formatting(not locale formmatting),Negative number cannot be displayed in table if the column is narrower than the negative number, just minus is displayed.

Hi,
I think this has nothing to do with positive and negative numbers, By default the alignment of the text is Left, if you dont want to see '-' sign initially then you can change the alignment of the text to center or right in the display tab of properties for that column.
As you as saying that at runtime the numbers are visible if manually adjusted. to icrease the width of that column permanently goto Layout tab of the story board and increase the size of the table and then increase the width of the column.
the Fit Contents in the Layout should be set to "Actual Size".

ComboBox: width of list initially too small

I've written a littlle application which contains a ComboBox. The ComboBox contents will be set asynchronously. When the contents are set and I expand the list, the width of the list is initially too small. After I close the list and expand it again, the width of the list is correct. Did I make anything wrong???

ComboBox popup list is wrong width the first time it is shown if the ComboBox is wider than prefWidth.
This is fixed in javafx8.0 already, but not in javafx2.
