Wiki: New just created users can do nothing? (10.6.4)
Hello,
After update to 10.6.4 there's an issue: any new users that I create in Server Prefs/WGM can't post to their blogs, comment, create wiki pages... They can't do anything!

Any "old" user CAN create, modify, comment, etc.
What can you recommend to fix this issue?

try this if you can
create a TEXT file named /Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/sitecustomize.py with the following contents:

reboot or run via terminal: sudo launchctl stop com.apple.wikid
Login to the site and try to create the blog. An unexpected error should occur, so just ignore it. Now remove the file you created previously and reboot or restart wikid. Go to your page again and try to create a blog entry.
Let me know if it works on you. It worked on me, and I discovered it accidentally.

well, there's no switch you can flip to have such behavior, but you can:
1. supervise the param, so whenever the user changes the value you can keep
the X and restore the Y. (won't hold water in case of keyframing or
expression)
2. set an expression that would do the same.
3. check the param at some events (such as the render call), and modify the
keyframes and values if necessary. (won't handle expressions)

OS X Server 3 new installation - network users can`t connect - what the h... am I doing wrong ?!?!
Mac Server 3 drives me crazy ...
I have a brand new MacMini here with Maverick on board, and two brandnew Macbook Air and 3 27"iMac that I want to set up as small office. The MacMini should act as Server (with two thunderbolt harddisks connected) for the rest. So far the theory, meanwhile I´m the reality of Server 3 ...
Having years of experience with "normal network" solutions like filesharing etc. I had a look at Server 3 and thought it couldn`t be that complicated to set it up - but meanwhile I`m disillusioned.
I`ve now completely reinstalled the MacMini and the Server the third time, connected directly to the Airport Extreme, started filesharing and started the Server app. afterwards. Then I just
- opened the settings of the server, set up a local network (xxx.local)
- activated push-notification and got a ceritficate
- started the profile manager
- started open directory
- started started the DNS server
- started file sharing (creating a new folder on the MacMini, offering user folders via SMB or AFP (tested both))
- started the other services (calendar, contacts, etc.)
- opened ports for the public services on the AirportExtreme
- set up a testuser (network user), giving access to all services
- gave the test user access to the network folder created
On the Macbook Air i used for testing I registered the network account server (getting a green light afterwards), put the hook at "allow network users to sign on" (I even coot see the test users name there).
But after switching to the login I only got normal users on the MacBook Air. Switching the "allow network users to sign on" sometimes resulted in a third user "other" where I could enter the Username and password - but : no result - just as explained several times in this thread ... :-( :-(
The last three days I tried several setups, switch and renamed, issued certificates, tried out the profile manager and registered the MBA, set up the user folder via AFP and SMB, ...
But : no access to the network user granted ...
Just read the last lines of the Protokoll after my last attempts and could read "connection invalid" and "connection denied" several times in it ... does anyone have an idea what`s going wrong here ?!?!??!
I really need to set up this server a.s.a. possible and am really frustrated about this really not Apple like behaviour of this software *eyesroll* ...

sorry, but frustration continues ... here`s what I did :
- complete did the forth reinstall of the MacMini, new Maverick, all updates. Then installed the server.app
- delete all network connections except the Ethernet, gave it a static IP 10.0.1.201
- started the server app, renamed the computername and the hostname
Result :
- This automatically started the DNS server - i just checked this and found a server.dizwo.private entry pointing at the 10.0.1.201. According to your proposal I entered a second entry with "dizwo.private" pointing at the same IP 10.0.1.201 (named "server") - as you didn´t respond to my request above the entries are only guesses
- on the AirportExtreme I opened the ports for all necessary services
- I created a public user folder with all necessary access types (using SMB for the user folder)
- created network user pointing at this folder
- checked whether it has access to all services (was already preset) and gave him access read/write to the user folder
- last but not least i started the OpenDirectory server showing availibility of the OD server at server.dizwo.private
... and then ?
On the MacBook Air and on another iMac I first had a look whether I get access to the user folder on the server. I could see it in the finder windows and got access, okay - fine.
Then I want to set up the OD server in the user settings on the clients - but in contrary to my earlier tries I didn`t got the OD server name, but simply a "server.local".
Trying to enter the "server.dizwo.private" simply resulted in a "host not found" ??!?!
You can imagine how frustrated I`m now about all this stuff - I`m Apple user since more than 20 years and haven`t seen such weird behaviour of an Apple software before - not user friendly in any matter ... .
This server software is advertised and looking like to be an easy to use front end to create a server, even the "manuals" (not that I would tell them so ...) do so. But it looks like it`s really more a trial and error thing when you do the installation ...
So : what I did I do wrong now ? Is there anything that I missed ? Is it a certificate thing (I didn`t set up a custom one but used the intermediate one preinstalled) ? Or another network issue ? The DNS server ? The OD server ? The naming of the server ?
I really urgently need help - need to set up this server the next 2 weeks !!

I'm able to use the new one even tho the old one is there? But can't delete the old one because it's frayed out n can't tap on it to change it to the new one
You will need to use that old Apple ID and password to update any apps you purchased using that account. So you will either need to recover that Apple ID, which if you forgot the password you should be able to reset here:

or you will need to delete all those apps and repurchase them using your current Apple ID.

Brand new to FIOS - triple bundle. Is Digital Voice a VOIP provider such that I can use an IP phone? In combination with my regular POTS?

Include new feature where user can get JSP as XML model or normal HTML
Hi Creator Team,
I request you guys to include the below specified feature in future updates.
Currently, creator is supporting to generate JSPS in XML formats. No doubt this is good feature.
But some times we may require JSP in which we may not in need of well formed HTML page.
Because all Designeres and developers are may not aware of XML features and nodoubt they will face the problem in coding or designing.
It is not necessary that a developer/designer need to accustom the features currently supported. He/She may expect more easier access in studio creator.
I understand that we can include JSPs into project taht are not well formed. But at the same time it is almost difficult to him/her to design the page (drag/drop process which is main feature of Studio Creator)
I request and suggest to include both options so that it will become easy for developers/designers to use this good productHas this feature been incorporated in the latest SJSC 2 release? I too think that this will be more easier to adapt to as a newbie. Moreover, I haven't found anything on this front anywhere else in the forums or in the technical documentations. Other way around could be to provide decent tutorials on using JSP in XML syntax. I am currently using J2EE tutorial (June 2005 release) to learn this technology.
I would be glad if someone could point out a decent resource on this front.

My new users can not upload files via browse
Hi there;
When my recent created users can not download files via the browse within the Internet interface.
When I hit the via browse I face the following:
500 Internal Server Error
oracle.ifs.common.IfsException: IFS-10406: Invalid AttributeValue conversion (DIRECTORYOBJECT to Java DirectoryObject)
oracle.ifs.common.IfsException: IFS-10200: Unable to access object (insufficient privileges)
Any hint?

These are the ACL's of IFS:
PRIVATE Grants no permissions to any other user. Other users cannot view, modify, or delete a user’s document in any way, unless changed by the owner.
PROTECTED For folders only. Enables other users to see the files in the folder, add documents and folders to the folder, and remove documents and folders they have created from the folder, but are not allowed to delete the folder itself.
PUBLIC Allows full access to the item. All users can make any changes that the owner can make.
PUBLISHED Allows other users to view the contents, but they are not allowed to modify or delete the document.
If you attach the ACL Public it must work!

Creating user in oracle through JDBC
I m trying to create a user in oracle through jdbc. When I m creating user through SQL plus I m able to do it successfully but when I m doing it through java code I can see that user�s entry in dba_users & dba_role_privs tables.But when I am trying to drop that user I get message �User doesn�t exist�. Also when I am trying to logged in through the newly created user (one that I have created through code)in SQL Plus , I get error �ORA-01017: invalid username/password ; logon denied�.If user doesn�t exist then how can I see it�s entry in dba_users & dba_role_privs?? One more thing �. I can drop that user through code but not using SQL Plus.

I think that problem is not with commit otherwise I shouldn't be able to see that newly created user entry in these tables from Sql Plus:-
1)DBA_ROLE_PRIVS
2) DBA_USERS
3) DBA_sys_privs

The reason why I asked you is that I recently installed SP12 and did not face any problem. was able to create users without any problems.

iTunes and iCloud and different accounts, you will need to delete both accounts from your device before adding the new details in their place.
For iCloud go to settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit the delete button. You can then sign back in using your correct details. For iTunes go to settings >store, tap your account ID and then sign out, you can then sign back in using your correct Apple ID. -

I am installing an osx server that will be primarly used as a wiki for collaboration.
Problem: there will be many users from various organisations -> creating users manually on the server is not an option.
Is there a way to have a page/something where users will login and the account will be created at first logon? (after being approved if possible).
I'd want my users to go to the wiki and do something like click a "new user" or "create account" button then fill a form. The account in th directory would be then auto magically created.
Does this feature already exist for osx server with the built-in wiki?Just generate the TTS on a separate slide and then assign the audio file created in the LIbrary to whatever object you need.

I created a new library so I can use it for just my music, but now my ipod will only sync to my old library and not the new one I created, even though I'm in the new library when I open itunes. Any solutions?
The point is that there are four i product users for one computer in my house, and not everyone wants the same music on their device. Like I said before, the ipod is not syncing to the new library even though I plug it in when the new itunes library is pulled up. It keeps syncing to the old library...

I am very new to Macs and iPhoto so this may be an idiot's question, but I have just created my first photo book and want to buy it, but the "buy book" button is not highlighted and when I click it nothing happens. I have now recently downloaded 10.0.2 which is confusing in itself, as, as far as I can ascertain that is actually version 11, but I'm not even sure about that.
Version 10.0.2 is the newest version and the successor to GarageBand '11 (version 6.0.5).
The '11 is referring to the iLife '11 suit of multimedia application - the older GarageBand was a part of this bundle.
Have a look at Edgar's graphical enhanced manuals, the explain very detailed how things work and why. You can buy them as iBooks from the iBook store or directly from the page:

I just created a new profile/user on my MacBook Pro. My pointer/mouse on my trackpad. It works fine in my older user profile, but when I go to the new profile my mac will not respond to clicks. The Mouse moves but will not click. Already tried restarting and the pram zap. The problem starts when I log out of my main profile. I get to the login screen and my laptop stops responding to clicks. When I manage to make my way back to my main profile the mouse works perfectly. Should I just delete the new profile and try again?
If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.
