Will i lose all my iphone content now that i have upgraded my hard drive and no longer have any of the files in iTunes
i no longer have any of my songs, ringtones, apps, photos etc, on my macbook anymore due to a SSD upgrade. i did not want to back up any files from the old hard drive as some were corrupt and i did not want that to transfer over to my new hard drive so i started from fresh. what i would like to know is, if i now sync my iphone with itunes, am i going to lose all the content on my iphone because there is nothing to sync it with or, will it transfer all the files onto my computer and i will have them again? or is there a way to do that before i sync and lose everything i have gained on the phone?

It's called "iTunes". Connect the phone, but do not sync, when it appears in iTunes choose "transfer purchases..." from the iTunes File menu.

- The transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:

- For non-iTunes purchased music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

- Connect the iPOd to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup. -

Hey need some help. I saved my itunes file to my external hard drive, and I've lost all my play lists, i can't import my old library for some reason. It's there though. I can't get all my aps to show up again. Yet all my movies i down loaded via digital copy are all there,

NEilactually this is pretty easy to do:
before connecting your iPod to your computer:
-open iTunes
-select Edit>Preferences
-click on the iPod tab on the top menu, select "Manually manage songs & playlists" and press OK.
that's it! just connect your iPod, import a new CD or tracks from the music store, and select the music files you want (hold Ctrl to select multiple tracks), and just drag & drop them to your iPod icon on the left-hand side of iTunes.

I will be purchasing a new iPhone in the next week or so if my old iPhone doesn't show up, so I don't want to completely delete my stolen phone off of my account just in case someone decides to return it. Is this a problem with apple, blackberry, or my carrier?

Until this week there was a button next to the device identification that allowed you to refresh the Find My iPhone map. That button is now gone and I cannot see a way to refresh the map without exiting and reentering Find My iPhone. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
You need to go to the part where you see your device on the map and then there is a little refresh button next to the name of your device on the map page.

Go to the mailbox tab in the Mail application and selecting "synchronize iCloud". Whenever you delete mail from one of your devices it will automatically delete from the others--within iCloud.

Can Time Machine back up a failed hard drive, and how long will it take to prepare?
1. The hard drive in my 2009 MBP has failed. My Time Machine external drive failed about three weeks ago, and I don't know if I'll be able to restore from it. Is it ever possible to backup a failed hard drive with Time Machine? The machine boots, it just comes up beach balls if I use any applications for very long.
2. I'm trying to back it up right now. I have Time Machine running to a new external drive. It has been stuck on "preparing backup" for about 20 minutes. Everyone says that preparing a first backup takes some time, but no one says if "some time" is 15 minutes or one hour or more. What is a typical length of time for preparing first backup? At what point should I walk away?
If it's not worth trying to back this drive up myself anymore, I'd love to just drop the thing off and get the hard drive replaced -- but if it's worth doing, I'll take the extra day to back up what I can.You might have better luck using a clone.

I've already tried disconnecting and reconnecting the hard drive to the Airport Extreme, No luck.

Why did it even loose the settings in the first place?It sounds like you just have 2 formatted drives (SSD, HDD) that are not configured as a Fusion drive. If so, you have to manually move files from the SSD to the HDD and visa versa.
If your system would have come configured with a Fusion drive (SSD and HDD 'fused' together) then OS X would maintain file movement from the SSD to the HDD without user intervention.

i recently upgraded the icloud control panel because it popped up and told me there was an upgrade. once the upgrade finished i opened itunes and the only songs that were there were songs that were in the cloud all my previously added music from my cds was gone. i was going to talk to apple support but they want a serial number for the apple product which i dont have because my question is for itunes on my windows laptop.
