Yes....
You may need to run Software updates as soon as installation is complete and before running LP9 for the first time..however.. as 9.0 doesn't seem to run well under later OS X versions than Snow Leopard...

  • Will Logic 7.0.1 run on OS 10.4.6 or OS 10.4.8?

    Hello all,
I started a thread last night on this subject but I don't think I worded it correctly. Will Logic 7.0.1 run on OS 10.4.6 and above? I'm running 10.3.9 now with great results but need to upgrade my OS due to daisy chaining my Presonus FirePod interfaces. Thanks to the two that responded to the original thread but would like a few more comments.
    Thanks,
    James

But don't come crying to us when you have problems!  Just being a bit snarky.  You may be able to get things to work but you will probably not have a dependable system.  I recently created a Mavericks boot drive and installed fcp7 along with the other parts of the FCS studio.  For the most part everything worked fine, but the occasoinal hiccup when clients were in the room convinced me that working in Snow Leopard was the smarter move.   FCS is end of line and eventually I'm going to have to move to Avid or Premiere (or both).

your new lion-machine should have quicktime 7, too. if it doesn't, and if it doesn't show up after you migrated your stuff from you old machine you can always reinstall it from the logic dvd's, it's part of logic. my recommendation is to always use quicktime 7, since it's got many features that are absent in quicktime x. quicktime x is nothing but a polished video player. in quicktime 7 (pro, comes with logic) you can even do edits and paste your music onto video files. i use it all the time, especially since logic 64bit doesn't export to video anymore.

  • Will Logic Studio AUs run in Logic Express 9

I have Logic Studio 8, with tons of additional AUs that I purchased. I am thinking of purchasing Logic Express 9, and was wondering if the AUs from Logic Studio will work in Logic Express 9.
Also, I hear, (but am not sure) that  Logic Express doesn’t come with:
space and delay designer components or the Sculpture, EVB3 Tonewheel Organ, EVD6 Clavinet, and EVP88 Electric Piano synths
Since I have these programs listed above in Logic Studio, will they run in Logic Express if I have Logic Express installed on the same computer?
    Thanks
    Chaz

    Hi
    A few things to note:
Logic Express has been discontinued, so unless you can find someone who has an old copy for sale, you must now buy Logic Pro from the Appstore. There is NO upgrade path.
Logic Express did not include Sculpture, EVP88, EVD6, EVB3; they are in Logic Pro

  • Will IDVD studio pro 2 run on OSX10.4.11 &  will it accept over 99 slides

I have two questions - first, can someone tell me if IDVD studio pro 2 will let me load more than 99 slides on a DVD - second, I am now on OSX10.4.11 and quick time 7.5.5, the requirements for IDVD studio pro 2 are OSX10.2.6 and quick time 6.3. Does anyone know if IDVD studio pro 2 will work on OSX10.4.11 without creating a conflict with IDVD 5 which I have already loaded on that system. Your comments will be appreciated.

The DVD spec maxes at 99 slides. If you have more consider doing the slide show in FCP.
Historically I think DVDSP v2 was the first iteration of the program after Apple bought the code. Version 3 improved the interface version 4 added HD support. Along the way the 10.2 to 10.4 had a boat load of under the hood improvements. Leopard did even more. Same for QT
So my educated guess is all the features of v2 might not ramp up due to OS differences more than QT differences.

  • I have formatted my SSD and hard drive.... I am running a clean install from disk of 8.1 pro. I cannot determine if it is a compatibility

issue or hardware issue. I had run a memory test and scan disk for bad sectors from the bios. As administrator, I enabled automount  in diskpart to allow windows to assign a drive name.
From the bios, I can see both drives and only the ssd. I have not pinpointed when the harddisk is unmounted. It is formatted as NTFS. I can hear it unmount either during boot or upon waking from sleep mode. The bios sees no bad sectors nor does windows.
However, when I had the intel compatibility software installed, my hard drive never mounted. I did a restart and inorder for windows to see my hard drive. I disabled the intel software for the 4th gen i7 processor. This problem is happening less often. I do
not think I have solved the problem. Intel or Windows... I think a bit of both.
If there is a software patch, please guide me to it. I am in school and use my laptop ALL the time. I believe it is a compatibility issue. I have attached this from searching intel's site for downloads and windows is up to date.
I am quite concerned because I can hear my harddrive unmount. It is labeled as healthy NTFS partition. I have checked for hidden volumes and done everything I know to do to check the integrity of the hardware as administrator. I have searched microsofts
libraries and forums and have done everything I can find as suggestions.
I have checked for malware, viruses, etc. My only clue this is going to happen is the hard disk spins up and I hear the fan, then I hear it unmount the drive. Of course, after unmounted there are other issues which I have ruled out as the cause of the problem.
Basically, I am experiencing a lack of swap space after my hard drive unmounts.
Any suggestions, are welcome! I would really like to know if this is a known windows issue. I should not have to disable intel's processor software. I paid for the features of the i7 and would like to utilise the processor.

    Hi,
According to your descriptioin, I don't think this is system problem, it should be Intel driver problem. It would be contact Intel to confirm this issue whether this is their driver problem.

  • Will Logic Pro....be running through rosetta on INTEL MACS?

    Hi Apple,
    Question,
Will Logic Pro have to run through rosetta (or similar) to use the INTEL Macs? Or will a new Logic Release that takes full advantage of INTEL be available imminently?
    thanx,
    SvK

If you are a registered owner of Logic 7.1 today, you will have to pay US$50 plus shipping to get the updated version that is Intel Mac native when it is made available after March 31st, 2006.

  • Not able to install Logic on mac with OSX.  10.8.2. Error message: Logic Studio.mpkg cannot be opened as the power pc programs are no longer supported. I have logic studio 8 software purchased in 2007 and upgraded with logic studio 9 (purchased in 2009)

After an earlier attempt to move Logic from my other mac (OSX 10.6.8) with the migration assistant to my new mac with OSX 10.8.2. I've re-started the whole start up process by erasing the hard drive from the new machine and build it up from scratch. After a new "out of the box" start, I decided to install LOGIC from my disks : starting with my 2007 package Logic Studio 8 and upgrading with my Logic 9 package from 2009. When trying to start to install 2008 I got the error message : Logic Studio.mpkg cannot be opened as the power pc programs are no longer supported.
What does this mean? HOw do I get this working under 10.8.2 as it works flawlessly under OSX 10.6.8. For sure I didn't buy a new machine to have OSX 10.8.2 but I suspect this is the roadblock to installing my logic package.
    Help!

    Mark,
    Sorry...
I completely lost the thread (I actually got confused between you and another poster on a another forum that was asking the same basic question) and somehow ended up thinking you were trying to install on a PPC Mac
My apologies and please ingnore those parts of my last post relating to the PPC Macs...
You have an Intel Mac and therefore Logic Studio 2 Boxed Upgrade set should install/run on your Mac without issue. As I said earlier.. you do not need to try and install from the original Logic Studio 1 /Logic 8 Boxed set...(It won't work anyhow because you have an Intel Mac and that version had a PPC installer)  but just install from the Logic Studio 2 / Logic Pro 9 Upgrade Boxed setof DVDs instead...
Have you tried the "Make Disk Image" solution I gave earlier? That normnally works under such circumstances as what you are describing can happen when your DVD drive cannot read the DVDs correctly... I have had this situation myself where one drive read them okay and another failed to do so for whatever reason. Making and then installing from Disk images of those exact same disks resolved the issue for me...
You can try to reinstall directly from the DVDs of course though under some circumstances it may not allow you to reinstall Logic Pro itself if that part of the original installation attempt was successful... in which case you can also try this... (It's probably the easiest method if Logic 9 was already installed and present in your Apps Folder)
If the Logic Pro App is in your applications folder..
Run Software Updates to update Logic Pro to a version that will run under 10.8.2 (The initially installed version of Logic will not)
    Run Logic
Go to the menu bar in Logic and select Logic Pro/Install Additional Content and select all content in there..
This content is basically exactly the same as what is stored on the remaining DVDs of the boxed set so you might not need to use the rest of the DVDs to install from but download it all instead from Apple Servers...

  • Installing and Using Logic Studio and Final Cut Studio 2 On the Same iMac

In March of this year, I switched from being a long-time user of PC's to a 24 in. 2.4 GHZ iMac. In late May I purchased Final Cut Studio 2 and Aperture and have greatly enjoyed using both of these applications on my iMac. Both run with no problems under Leopard which I installed shortly after it came out. I am now considering the purchase of Logic Studio since I have enjoyed midi sequencing and audio editing for years on my PC's but wish now to do this on my iMac.
I note that two of the applications included in Logic Studio (Soundtrack Pro 2 and Compressor 3) are a part of the Final Cut Studio 2 suite of programs that I already have installed on my iMac. How will Logic Studio handle this issue when I run the install of that software, i.e. will it be aware that I already have Soundtrack Pro 2 and Compressor 3 and just have those install options grayed out or will it overwrite my FCS2 installation of those two applications? Are there other issues or conflicts between Aperture or Final Cut Studio 2 applications and Logic Studio that I should know before installing Logic Studio?
Thank you very much in advance for responding, and I look forward to reading this forum from this point onward.

Thanks again for your prompt responses, blayzay. I look forward to getting and installing Logic Studio. If anyone has any precautions on using it with FCS2 or with Leopard, please add a comment to this thread.

  • Logic Studio (Vers 8) Compatibility Issues with Lion

Will Logic Studio (Vers 8) become compatible with OS X Lion? I just upgraded to Lion and I cannot launch Logic Pro 8 or any of the other apps included in the Studio bundle. I hope there will be a patch or I will need to remove Lion from my iMac.

    Have you tried this?

Unless this vid is bs, this may be the ticket.  Haven't installed Lion yet myself so I can't varify it's validity.

  • 10.6.3 and Logic Studio

Will Logic Studio work fine over OS-X 10.6.3 ? How about Final Cut Studio? I'm in the process of buying these two titles for my mackbook pro which is already upgraded to 10.6.3 but I don't want to waste my money if it won't work...

Of course I've tried them both. I only comment on things I have tried myself. That way I avoid as much as possible sticking my foot in my mouth and wiggling my toes

  • Final Cut Studio 3 & Logic Studio 2 order of installation

    Greetings Apple Discussions:
About to install the latest versions of Final Cut Studio 3 and Logic Studio 2 on a Mac Pro (2009) 1TB HD. Which one should be installed first?
    I would appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

    Thanks for your information Edgar:
I recalled Final Cut Studio 2 and Logic Studio 1 having this problem. Thats why I asked if it persisted in Final Cut Studio 3 and logic Studio 2.
Here is the link to the problem in the previous versions.
    http://www.zoom-in.com/blog/film-tv/todd-howard/problem-solution-installing-fina l-cut-studio-2-after-logic-studio
Now that you have confirmed it has occurred in the latest versions I will check for the problem file in:

Hey Bill, which Suite did you install first?
Maybe I should install Logic Studio First?

  • Restore Logic Studio

I need to upgrade the hard drive on my 2010 Macbook Pro.  How do I backup / restore Logic Studio pro?  Do i need a new license key? thanks

Did you buy it from App Store or did you buy it in a box from a reseller?
What you will need to backup is your User-folder. All your projects are normally stored in Music/Logic and all your settings are stored in User/ Library /Application Support / Logic
It should still be there if you make a Time Machine backup and transfer everything when you install the new hard drive.
If you bought Logic on App Store you can download it again and if you bought it from a reseller you have the serial number in the box.

  • Problem: I bought Logic Studio 8, then the Logic Pro 9 Update, and now lost

    I can't start Logic, after...
    - I had a running Logic Pro 9 system, that I installed with an upgrade to my bought Logic Studio 8. Ok, back then.
    - Then I did a big mistake: I have thrown away (because I did not think it was necessary to keep) the manual and the CD of Logic Studio 8. So I lost the Serial number, which was printed in the manual, and I lost the CD too.
    - Back then, that was not a problem, because I had a running system.
    - Now I tried to install on a second machine, and I could not. I ordered a new serial number, and I received it from Apple support. But it looks like I have received some Logic Studio number and in the mail they don't say which version. Since it is called Logic Studio, I assume the serial is for version 8. But I can't install that because I lost the version 8 CD too...
    - So I now need a new Logic Studio version 8 CD ? I tried to order that by fax (the same support number that also sent me the serial), but no response from Apple.
    - Now I have moved my main machine to another Mac Pro (Firewire Transfer) and now I must also enter the serial number and none of the ones that I have works.
I feel like Apple should provide me a complete set of Logic Pro 9, CD and serial. This would make my life easy again. I would also cover the expenses.
    What shall I do?
    Who can I contact?
Btw: it seems to be really hard to get Logic support. Apple is a big company...

So that's settled then. Move on over to the Apple Store. A complete set of Logic Pro 9, CD and serial comes at 499.-
If you have proof of purchase of L8, it might be less, but that would imply you haven't thrown that away too.
