Win 10 upgrade - unable to connect wirelessly

Upgraded from WIN 7  to  WIN 10.   And now I can't get a wireless internet connection although I canconnect  by ethernet cable.  I can see my neighbours wireless networks listed but not mine!I do not have any CISCO VPNs installed (which causes an issue for other users).   My WiFi adapter is a Ralink RT5390 802.11b /g/n and the driver is up-to-date. Can anyone suggest a fix for this?

I had the identical issue after upgrade to 10.8.4
The down side of deleting com.apple.network.identification.plist is that you lose all your Network preferences. As a frequent traveller, this was not attractive to me. I tried copying com.apple.network.identification.plist from the .old directory as root to try to restore them, but that didn't work.
An alternate, less destructive fix that worked for me: add a location, change to that location. Bam. Done.
>SystemPreferences >Network > Location > Edit Locations +to add a new location, Apply, then Reboot.
I kept all my preferred networks intact AND solved the issue of Wifi not connectiong automatically.
Not sure what the root issue is, and that bothers the geek in me, but having lost my Saturday Morning trying different solutions, I'm going to let that sleeping dog lie and be glad it's working. ;-)

  • Unable to connect wirelessly on an Acer laptop using Vista

I have a Windows XP connected wirelessly to my Verizon Router M1424WR, but I am unable to connect wirelessly on an Acer laptop using Vista. The Vista can only connect with Ethernet. It will not accept the WEP key.

#1 Check the level of WEP. Two examples: 64 Bit, 128 Bit.
#2 And check to be sure, if you use a WEP password of Hex or Ascii.

  • Unable to connect wirelessly to BTHome Hub

I have a ibook G4 running OSX 10.3.9 fitted out with Airport and have recently taken delivery of a BTHomehub, Both my Mac and laptop PC (also fitted out with wireless capability) are unable to connect wirelessly to this Hub despite being able to connect to the NET using an ethernet cable. It appears that there is no wireless signal being transmitted from the Hub, or at least a signal the both computers can recognise. We have contacted the support teams who have been unable to resolve the issue, and have replaced the Hub, guess what same problem.
Has anyone had similar experiences and if so how was it resolved? There doesn't appear to be any real info on the web about this.
    ibook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Duane, The BtHomeHub is a UK device, both the Mac and the PC were purchased and are used in the UK. The hub is configured to detect settings automatically although i have tried all the different channels manually, no joy.
Anyone got any experience of this device or ways to resolve the problem?

  • Unable to connect wirelessly to home network.

Unable to connect wirelessly to my home network from my MacBook Pro. My Powerbook G4 is connected wirelessly, no problem. However, the MacBook Pro keeps failing. I have tried rebooting both the modem/router and the MBP without success. I have also tried entering in the WEP code several times without success. Need help troubleshooting this. Thank you.

Not a problem. I appreciate whatever assistance you can spare.
I popped an Ethernet cable into the MBP and am downloading the 10.7.5 update. Says it's going to take about an hour. Going to see if that fixes the problem. Seems many Lion users have complained about wireless problems, so it appears I'm not alone.
As far as the other utilities you describe, I can't find anything that fits that description. I have something called AirPort Utility, but when I launch it, the window contains no columns, just a gray window with a globe and a prompt telling me that no AirPort base Stations have been found and that it's searching for one. I see nothing in my Applications or Utilities called Connection Doctor.
Here's hoping the 10.7.5 update remedies the problem. If not, I fear I might have to keep my MBP "tethered" via an Ethernet cable until I can find a fix for this.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Officejet Pro 8500A unable to connect wirelessly to Ubee Modem/Router

I recently upgraded to a new "all in one" Ubee Modem Router (Model DDW366) and have spent hours attempting to wirelessly (both using Wizard and entering info by hand) print, but nothing has worked.  The only way I am able to print at this time is by printer cable connected to my MacBook Pro.  I'm unable to print wirelessly from my MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad.
HP will not advise me on how to solve this problem as printer is no longer under warranty and Cox Cable who sold me the Modem/Router combo are not willing to assist with this problem.
Can anyone advise me on how to print wirelessly again?

    Hello @drlogan0,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are encountering problems with getting your Officejet pro 8500A onto your new wireless network.
    I would like to help.
i would try restoring the network defaults. This will help erase any 'old' information that may be stuck in the printers memory. I would like to give you specific steps for this, but I am unsure if you have the 8500A, 8500A wireless, or the 8500A premium.
Basically the steps are, go into the network menu, and select restore network defaults.
If you have tried restoring the network defaults already, please review the following troubleshooting documents.

  • FF4580 unable to connect Wireless - Windows 8

I have historically used the HP F4580 on XP and Windows 7 but not wirelessly.  I have a new PC running Windows 8 64 Bit and am trying to re install the F4580 but would prefer it to run wirelessly.
I have downloaded the software and drivers from the HP website and the printer works fine using a USB connection.
I am trying to convert from USB to wireless using the HP installation and it states my SSID is not available.Even when I type in the SSID it states it is not avaialable.  It then tells me the printer I have selected is not connected.
I have added the printer using the mac address to my router as a trusted source.
I have configured the wireless network direct from the device using the wizard and have an IP address for the printer.
The scan print states that wireless is up and running and working ok but I cannot print to it wirelessly.  As soon as I remove the USB the printer is unavailable.
I have tried removing the printer and rebooting and reinstalling.  I have disabled antivirus and firewalls but still am unable to print wirelessly.
Does anyone have any other ideas or have I missed something really simple.
    Thanks

    any other suggestions?
Reset the printer to it factory defaults.  Use WPA2-AES encryption in your router.  Try another fixed channel, never 'auto'.  Power off both printer and router.  Power on router, wait 2 mns.  Power on printer and connect to your SSID with your password.  Now try.

  • After mavericks upgrade unable to connect to printer

After mavericks upgrade on one of my two 2013 iMac, when I try to print anything on my network printer and plotter I always obtain this message: "unable to connect to printer" than printer pause and got "pronto per la stampa" (ready to print in italian).

THis helped me. Had to share this!
Go to this link: http://macs.about.com/od/printersharing/ss/Printer-Sharing-Share-Your-Windows-7- Printer-With-Your-Mac_5.htm
Things to Keep in mind and setup first if your Server which your printer is connected to is a Mac Desktop like mine, otherwise the above instructions will not work:
    1) Make sure to have firewall set either to "Off", but if "On" then make sure set to allow SMB, Printer Share, and other devices. Thats a Biggie! (I suggest you Test first that you're indeed able to connect first to your Mac desktop server using the smb://YourServersFileSharingAddess.local, or cifs://YourServersFileSharingAddess.local. If you're not able to connect to your servers hard drive from your Laptop, then the printer setup will not work! So resolve this first and make sure you can connect using the mentioned protocols.
    2) When you see that you're able to connect, then go to your printer setup and follow the above links suggestion. Just make sure that when you enter the ip address which it suggest, that its the same ip or location name of your mac server which your trying to connect to, ie... (YourServersFileSharingAddess.local/NameOfPrinterConnectedToServer). Keep in mind that it is case sensitive and that if you have spaced in the name of the printer, its better and easier to just rename it and cut it down to just one name...no spaces! But if you must have the spaces, then use %20 to fill those spaces, ie... "My Printer name" change to "My%20Printer%20name".
    Then watch the magic!

  • Unable to Connect Wirelessly to Printer

    Hi all.
Since I had my BT Infinity installed I am unable to connect to my printer Wirelessly like I had previous. I have an Epson SX600FW Inkjet All-in-One Printer. I have the BT Homehub 2.0. How do you configure this hub/router for the Wireless Printer? I cannot see any way of doing this?
Out of desperation, I have even tried to attach my old Router to the Homehub (even replace the BT Hub with it) but got nothing at all. Not even internet connection!

Infinity installed yesterday. Works perfectly both with laptop and Wi Fi Blue Ray DVD but will not work with printer which is an Epson Stylus SX425W. I have set up printer ok to run on Wi Fi but it will not print and I keep getting error messages. Spoken to Epson who have been thro the set up, confirmed that all is ok and asked me to print a status check. This says that network is working correctly but "A router/access point channel conflict has been detected". According to Epson, the solution is for the BT Hub to be configured so that it allows any Epson product through it's firewalls, and for MAC address filtering to be turned off. This is out of my league - is there anyone out there who recognises this issue and can help?
    Hi rdec1945
I dont use that printer but the epson PX710W.
Have you used the printers on screen menu.
    Setup
    OK
    Network Settings
    OK
Wireless setup wizard  or even Advanced setup and then WPS Wireless LAN setup, where you use the WPS button on the side of the HH3.
Setting up mine did not involve opening any thing in the firewall or doing anything with MAC address filtering.
[edit] have a look at this post from geaves, again not the same printer but suggests setting it up with ethernet first, I think its post 6.

  • Unable to connect wirelessly to the Internet

I have a Linksys WAG200G connected via ethernet cable to an Apple Base Station.
I can connect wirelessly to the Base Station (as it appears in the Airport Menu Bar) but I'm unable to connect to the Internet.
I can, however, connect to the Internet via my iPhone so it must be something to with the MBP.
I've run disk permissions but still nothing. I've also attempted to connect wirelessly direct to the Linksys Router and that also works okay.

Why do you need the Apple Base Station? The WAG200G is a modem/router. Just connect to it and you should be able to connect to the internet. Connecting to 2 routers has them fighting for giving out IP addresses. Yes you can connect to both but you must disable one of them in their function to provide IP addresses.

  • Unable to connect wireless print server while using wireless modem to ISP

Unable to connect an HP Laserjet 1320 thru the JetDirect ew2400 External Print Server to an imac G5 that uses the 2WIRE352 modem for ISP access thru ATT. Either the ISP is connected and works, or the printer works but no internet access. HP (after 1hr 15 min.) said I need to change/access the "infrastructure" in the OSX. Is that correct? & if so, how do I do this? Do I need to hire Apple Tech Support to do this? How much will that cost. I'm ready to send the Print Server back to HP for a refund.

I would post your issue in the Printing & Faxing forum area. More chance for some of the gurus like Greg Sahli to respond.

  • Unable to connect wirelessly to new DSL modem - HP Deskjet 3050A - HELP!

I have a HP Deskjet 3050A J611g - I've had it a little more than a year (so out of warranty) and it has also been connected wirelessly to my HP laptop and other devices without any issues.  Last month I had to get a new DSL modem from AT&T (the brand is PACE and the model is 4111N).  Ever since getting the new modem my printer will not maintain a wireless connection.
I worked with AT&T tech support just after getting the modem and they were able to get me connected (they had remote access to my computer - uninstalled, reinstalled drivers, etc.) but within a few days I lost the wireless signal and cannot get it restored.  I have worked with AT&T tech support for more than 10 hours - several different reps - and still not working.  I have researched the issue myself, tried all of the troubleshooting steps provided by HP and others.  I'm at a loss.  My printer works if connected to my laptop with a usb cable but not wirelessly.
All my other devices are able to connect wirelessly to the modem, just not the printer.  I'm at my wits end!  What is left to try other than paying HP support for their assistance?

Access your router and make sure that MAC Filtering is turned off.  Also, set the encryption type to WPA2-PSK (AES) only as HP printers don't work well with the TKIP encryption type, and set the Mode to 802.11g only as that is the Mode that HP printers work best with.  Being on channel 11 shouldn't hurt anything unless there is a device that uses the same channel in the area then you might get some interference.  Give these things a shot, and let me know what happens.

  • Unable to connect wirelessly - why?

Hi - I recently bought an Imac and a Linksys router. I am working fine connected via the Ethernet connection, but I receive a Connection Timeout error if I try to connect wirelessly via AirPort. I have verified my WPA passcode via the router software, but when I enter it at the Mac prompt, the connection immediately times out. Any ideas why? thx!

I also use a Linksys router, about 3 years old. My router can auto assign a free wireless channel, this did not work for me and I had to manually set a channel on the router, if that does not help, have a look at this post, it can be caused by a corrupt plist file on the iMac, this post states what to do.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2435537&tstart=0
Other that you need to look for other wireless networks or items that use 2.4Ghz that may be causing interference to your wireless system.

  • RDP via remote web workspace from Server 2012 R2 Essentials on Win 8 Client unable to connect to local printer.

    Hi,
Having an issue redirecting to a local printer when using a remote desktop session initiated through from a Essentials 2012 R2 server via remote web workspace on a Win 8.1 client, it doesn't pick up the Local printer, or even give the option of which
local resources to use on connection, just goes straight through and displays the remote desktop on connection.
I know its not a server global policy issue as it works fine on a Win 7 client with the same user being able to print locally whilst in a RD session
Any idea's as to how I can resolve this issue and enable local redirected printing or at least give me the options of specifiying which resources to connect on the local machine at the start of a session.
It's complicated I think as the essentials box is acting as the gateway so I cannot setup a session directly, the certificates are all working correctly so I am confused as to whats causing the issue.
    Any help would be appreciated.
