Windows 7 crashes with Elements 12 install
I have just installed Elements 12 and am now getting blue screen events (3 in the past 90 minutes). The only thing new or different on my machine is the Elements installation so I'm thinking I need to resolve a conflict between Elements 12 and Windows 7. Thanks!
Hi,
I am still favoring a hardware problem I'm afraid.
If an application crashes, Windows usually traps it before it kills the system and you will get a message about Windows closing the application. An application could cause a controlled restart (to install a patch) but you would see a shutdown message.
A BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) occurs when the heart of the operating system detects that a piece of low level code (like a driver) is doing something it shouldn't.
A spontaneous reboot is usually caused by the motherboard detecting a problem and doing a reset. The problem may be to do with the power supply or perhaps an overheating problem. Make sure all the vents are clear.
I don't know which previous version of elements you had but the auto analyzer can run in the background and can be very resource hungry. It might be worth turning it off if you don't need it. See the following
http://barbarabrundage.com/2013/10/31/the-elements-12-auto-analyzer-ad obes-evil-undead
If it does help, I suspect that it is just hiding the problem - not curing it.
If you reboot the system and don't use elements at all, does the reboot still occur?
Good luck
Brian

We are planning to Silent print a PDF from a web page using Flex. We are targeting Windows and Mac with Arcobat reader installed. I have tried using the AIR appliaction and it worked, But our requirement is NO INSTALL to the user machine for the silent printing. It is just from web page and silent printing to the default printer to the desktop/Laptop. Can anyone share your thoughts and experience with us. It will be very helpful..
For AIR : I tried the thread Re: AIR and PDF showing/silent printingHey CodeMonkey & Ross,
Did you either of you ever find a solution? I'm stuck too, it seems I can get remote printing on all these PDFs to work but it just prints a blank page since I've been using Javascript in the browser, not Adobe's (they are Engineering drawings that I do not have permission to edit so I can't just insert code into them but I need to make work instructions). I've been scouring the internet for hours now, it seems that this thread is the only relevant/useful one at this point. No one else was trying to achieve this for similar reasons to mine.
Thanks guys,

Our Windows PC crashed with all our music on it. There are copies of both purchased (thru iTunes store) and from our own CDs on an external HD in a backup file. They are not linked to a Media file. Is there any way I can put this music on my new computer?
The syncing of music is one way, computer to phone. See this helpful document from a fellow user. Credit goes to the author.

My other laptop crashed with adobe lightroom installed on it. How can i de-authorize that computer (not able to boot up) and install it on this computer?
There is no de-authorize process for Lightroom. Just download the latest version and use your License key to authorize on the new computer.

Fixed a problem of repeated crashing with a new install of Firefox 28 on Windows 8.1
This isn't so much a question as a contribution of solution.
On a new computer running Windows 8.1 a new installation of Firefox 28 was repeatedly crashing or freezing ("no response"). Loading pages could be slow, and scrolling jagged. Totally unusable, especially after playing content with Shockwave.
Although I had not installed any plugins apart from Shockwave and Adobe Acrobat, I had a look and was surprised to see several that I had never asked for. I deactivated those I do not think I need:
Intel Identity Protection Technology
Photo Gallery
WildTangent Games App V2 Presence Detector.
Since deactivating these, Firefox is running fine. But I had been obliged to use another navigator for a week until finding the time to research the problem.
Why are these unasked-for and obviously (for at least one) troublesome plug-ins installed by default? It's not doing Firefox any good!I return to this thread more than 3 months later, during which time I have not had a single day's satisfactory use of the latest versions of Firefox over Windows 8.1 with Flash content. Not very stable at the best of times (constant increase of memory usage) and when accessing Flash content, ffx came as near as I've ever seen an app come, to getting drunk. Memory goes through the roof, repeated freezes, disappearances/reappearances in the UI and very difficult to shut down. I've tried all the recommended fixes, disabling hardware acceleration, protected mode etc. to no avail (but a LOT of wasted time).
I've been having to use IE to access Flash content.
Last night I finally came to what, for me, is a quite radical decision to downgrade. I'm not _recommending_ this to anyone, but some may find it helpful as long as they're aware of risks and take appropriate precautions. Note that the official Mozilla archive page puts switching to a different browser _before_ returning to an older version of Ffx.
I've gone back to Ffx 28.0 dated 2014.03.15 (the Ides of March, I now note...) and Flash 10.3.183.90 which I downgraded to a bit earlier as part of my attempts to find a solution. Firefox is now stable, memory usage reasonable (currently 202MB for 6 tabs including some Flash content).
I currently have only one comment, handling of marquees (which has always been jerky in Ffx) I now see is using ''excessive processor time (up to 15% on a Core i3 with 4 GB RAM!)'' and jumps of 5-10 MB in memory usage. The latter returns to initial level at each cycle '''but I rather suspect doesn't in Ffx 31''', which might contribute to an apparent leak. [Edit : this seems all right on a different machine, so will have to find what's causing the problem on mine!]
Fortunately the cpu and memory usage disappear as soon as the marquee is pushed out of the viewport... so I conclude Firefox is not handling them if it doesn't have to show them.
Will post back with any developments but at the moment I'm staying with these versions! -
IE8 in Windows 7 crashing with flash frequently
Hello,
I'm running a brand new install of Windows 7 (formatted with Windows 7 on a brand new drive, not upgraded from a previoius OS). I'm running the 32 bit Internet Explorer 8.0.7600.16385 on a Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with all the latest MS patches. I have flash 10,0,32,18 installed. I can browse many flash pages but about 1 in 12 will eventually crash IE8. I can go back into IE8 and open the same page that crashed flash/ie8 but it is very frustrating to browse the web and have it crash so often. Some troubleshooting for flash player:
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html
If you follow all the steps, this will usually lead to http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408620.html
The second link includes steps for developers and then steps for users (not sure why they didn't list the users section first). Skip to the users section and follow those steps.
This will fix many flash errors, however there are still some flash videos that are just broken. You should record the URL of the sites that cause your flash player to crash IE. -
Windows 7 Imaging with ZCM Agent installed
Has anyone successfully made a Windows 7 image with the ZCM agent already installed on the base image?
I am trying to get the unattended setup to login once to but the workstation prompts for the ZCM login information?
Any suggestions?Yes
You have to disable the zcm logon prompt, then run a reghack to enable zcm logon as your last step after the first auto logon. -
Use trial version of elements 9 with elements 8 installed
I have Premiere Elements 8 installed. It hangs after a Peak file is created. It does this everytime, in three different computers and in both XP and Windows 7! I am able to run Elements 8 for about 3 to 3 1/2 minutes before it hangs.
I would like to try Premiere Elements 9 to see if that solves the problem. If I download the trial version of 9 and it still has the same problem, can I delete the trial version and still be able to use Elements 8 in my severely restricted manner?I installed trial version on Elements 8 and
I don't want it but can't get rid of it. It still fills my hard drive
.How can I completely delete it. It no longer shows in programs
, but tons of it remain in my hard drive. -
Clean install of windows 8 crashing with BSoD: "attempted execute of noexecute memory"
I recently bought this computer (sorry for hyperlink, but it is much easier than trying to list all the components):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227593
I added a Samsung 840 EVO 250gb SSD to it, and then I attempted to do a clean install of windows 8.1 onto the SSD from
the reinstall DVD that came with the system. Windows 8.1 appears to install correctly, but when the computer restarts to load windows for the first time, I get a BSoD with the error "attempted execute of noexecute memory". I tried reinstalling, but
got the same error.
Note that for testing purposes, I installed windows 7 on the SSD, and it works great. Unfortunately, I do not have a windows
7 key, so this is only a temporary solution. I would like to figure out how to get windows 8.1 on the SSD and running on the my computer.
Thank you in advance for any help or advice that you can give me.

Windows Crashes with Bootcamp Driver Instal
Just loaded Windows XP SP2 on my new IMac...partition and Windows load went fine. When I loaded the OSX Windows drivers, per the instructions, after quite a few driver installations, the blue screen of death came up stating Windows was closed due to errors (twenty digit error number...who in the world would know what that means). This happened several times after numerous attempts. Bottom line; everything (Internet, ISight, etc.) in Windows works except no sound...so a lot of drivers where loaded. Downloaded the latests Apple update for windows and latests windows update. Device manager states all audio codecs, etc. are fine...but no audio is detected in audio manager, and no sound. Sound in OSX is fine. I suppose there is a driver download available, but I could not find a sound driver on the OSX install disk for bootcamp...if there is one in the OSX install disk, you'd need to be a cryptologist to figure out which one it is. So, could the OSX disk be bad for the driver install?? If so, would that screw up the Apple for Windows update, which should have loaded the right drivers??
For MacPro 2008, BootCamp (OSX Disk 1)->Drivers->RealTekSetup.exe (Not in a sub folder) is the audio in my case. You should be able to run individual rather than whole BC setup.

thanksIn order to assist you, we will need the .DMP files to analyze what exactly occurred at the time of the crash, etc.
If you don't know where .DMP files are located, here's how to get to them:
1. Navigate to the
%systemroot%\Minidump folder.
2. Copy any and
all DMP files in the Minidump folder to your Desktop and then zip up these files.
3. Upload the zip
containing the .DMP files to Onedrive or a hosting site of your choice and paste in your reply. Prefered sites: Onedrive, Mediafire, Dropbox, etc. Nothing with wait-timers.
4 (optional): The
type of .DMP files located in the Minidump folder are known as Small Memory Dumps. In %systemroot% there will be what is known as a Kernel-Dump (if your system is set to generate). It is labeled MEMORY.DMP. The difference between Small Memory Dumps and Kernel-Dumps
in the simplest definition is a Kernel-Dump contains much more
information at the time of the crash, therefore allowing further debugging of your issue. If your upload speed permits it, and you aren't going against any strict bandwidth and/or usage caps, etc, the Kernel-Dump is the best choice. Do note that Kernel-Dumps
are much larger in size due to containing
much more info, which is why I mentioned upload speed, etc.
If you are going to use Onedrive but don't know how to upload to it, please visit the following:
Upload photos and files to Onedrive.
Please note that any "cleaner" programs such as TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, etc, by default will delete .DMP files upon
use.
If your computer is not generating .DMP files, please do the following:
1. Start > type
%systemroot% which should show the Windows folder, click on it. Once inside that folder, ensure there is a Minidump folder created. If not, CTRL-SHIFT-N to make a New Folder and name it Minidump.
2. Windows key +
Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced > Ensure there's a check-mark for 'Automatically manage paging file size for all drives'.
3. Windows key +
Pause key. This should bring up System. Click Advanced System Settings on the left > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings > System Failure > ensure there is a check mark next to 'Write an event to the system log'.
Ensure Small Memory Dump is selected and ensure the path is %systemroot%\Minidump.
4. Double check
that the WERS is ENABLED:
Start > Search > type services.msc > Under the name tab, find Windows Error Reporting Service > If the status of the service is not Started then right click it
and select Start. Also ensure that under Startup Type it is set to Automatic rather than Manual. You can do this by right clicking it, selecting properties, and under General selecting startup type to 'Automatic', and then click Apply.

Windows 7 Crashes with BSOD - RDR_FILE_SYSTEM mrxsmb2.0
OS is Win 7 Pro 64-bit in AD with SBS 2011 on back end
Users PC crashes every few days with stop error that includes RDR_FILE_SYSTEM mrxsmb2.0
Typically happens when user is using Adobe Acrobat Standard, often creating, moving, deleting and renaming PDFs on a network share, bit not always.
Using msconfig I have disabled everything from starting with Windows. Have not disabled any services yet.
I tried to apply the hot fix associated with KB2494418 but get the message that it does not apply to this PC.
Ran SFC /SCANNOW but it finished with message that no protected files were recovered.
Cleaned PC with cleanmgr.exe and ccleaner.
I appreciate any help to resolve this issue!
Charlie O'Hearn
http://www.plexus-it.com
Charlie O'Hearn http://www.plexus-it.comWe do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
WE NEED AT LEAST TWO DMP FILES TO SPOT TRENDS AND CONFIRM THE DIAGNOSIS.
If you are overclocking (pushing the components beyond their design) you should revert to default at least until the crashing is solved. If
you dont know what it is you probably are not overclocking.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.
If you are overclocking stop. (chances are if you dont know if you are, you are not)
To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.
The procedure:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy (compress them)
*Please upload them to a file sharing service like Skydrive or"Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
Link for how to upload below.
http://www.wikihow.com/Use-SkyDrive
To ensure minidumps are enabled:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.
Please also run MSinfo32 and upload the output as well.
To run MSinfo32 please go to start>run>MSinfo32
Go to "file" "save" and upload the saved file with the DMPS
System specs are extremely useful so please include whatever you know.

Freeway 5 Pro crashes with Snow leopard installed
Okay, I got excited and could not wait to install Snow Leopard, my bad.
I work with Freeway 5 Pro and, after installing Snow Leopard (as update), opening some of my Freeway projects caused the software to crash (quits unexpectedly sounds better); I sent reports to Apple (almost 10 of them within a week). also contacted Softpress (the company selling Freeway) and they tried really hard to help me (inspecting crash reports, inspecting my site/projects) but could not find anything wrong. I haven't found any answer in this forum either and was hoping for some answers. I have since returned to Leopard 10.5.8 and all is fine.
I find the whole experience quite disappointing and wander to this day if I am the only one with this kind of issue? Thanks for being so fast, I guess the word support is not taken lightly in this place, it is rather comforting!
As I mentioned, Softpress inspected every site project I created and could not find anything wrong with them; they also talked about possible issues with Font Book (double checked here).
The first time I uninstalled SL, I went on a cleaning frenzy in my Mac Book Pro, ran Disk Warrior, etc. The machine purrs!
I am almost tempted to redo these projects (2 or 3 of them, quite tidious), but still hope for some solutions, having a feeling that either Apple will have an update/fix (considering the many complaints I read) or someone will figure out a "but of course" solution... -
Satellite L35 - Crashes with 2gb ram installed.
A month back I posted with [problems about upgrading ram|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=33029]. Eldorado was great with helping me, I appreciate that.
I couldn't find another 1gb that was exactly the same as the 1gb that had been installed a couple months back. So I just got 2 new one's. I installed one about 3 weeks ago, the computer has been running great since (1gb OCZ + 512mb Stock). I installed the 2nd 1gb on Sunday and I'm back to having problems. (just for clarification, they are the same exact brand, speed, model, everything, I bought them a week and a half apart because of the rebate that was on them).
After installing the memory so that I had 2x1gb in the computer, it starts up okay, but then we try to play a game and it crashes, one of the times being BSOD, one of the times it was a black screen. We tried it with 2 different games, counter-strike source, and an old not very intensive game called painkiller.
I'm not sure where to go from here, the memory is this - 1GB 667MHz DDR2 PC2-5400 200-PIN OCZ - CL 5-5-5-15
I do try to research as much as i can before posting, and the only conclusion I can come to is that it's due to it being 667MHz.
Both of the previous 1gb sticks were 667, but they both had the stock stick installed at the same time, which if I remember correctly was 533MHz.
Thanks guysI had a similar memory issue on my 7 years old notebook.
I upgraded it with 2 x 512MB RAM modules and after a short time a BSOD appeared.
I thought its a faulty RAM or a compatibility issue and therefore I bought an second modules. It was exactly the same. But the BSOD appeared again.
Finally I tested both memory slots using the single modules and found out that the BSOD appears only using a second memory slot with connection to a high temperature.
Simply said the internal high temperature has affected my second memory slot and this led to a BSOD. Now I can use only one memory slot.
I dont think that your second memory slot can be faulty due to the fact that you have already used the 512MB module in the second memory bank. in my opinion the issue must be related to the new installed memory module either its really an compatibility issue or the second module malfunctions.
