Windows 7 incompatibility

My new computer has a Windows 7 operating system that is not compatible with my Z 22 Palm desktop.  Does anyone have a way to deal with this problem?

Same problem with a Tungsten E . . . where is the sticky note? Is there a solution, or has my Palm become a paperweight? Why is a perfectly good PDA no longer supported just because it's 6 years old? AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!
A "sticky post" is one that appears at the top of each section, has a grey background, and is "stuck" to the top of the section and does not move downward as newer questions arrive.
They are there to help new users who ask the same questions repeatedly.   Normally, we would expect members here to scan these questions first before making a new thread.
So to recap, we're looking for a thread that is at the top part of this section you're in now, has a grey background, and is entitled "Windows 7 and Vista sync instructions here".
If you still can't find it, click this link.
6 1/2 years old is practically "ancient" in this modern day...      Microsoft changed things, and Palm OS is dead.

  • Windows 7 incompatibility with IPod Classic

My Computer runs Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1, but my IPod Classics, in checking compatibility, requires me to open Windows XP, SP2.  After I changed the setting in I-Tunes re system to check on, now ITunes will not open.  I purchased the IPod so I could unload my music files from my laptop to free disc space but the IPod no longer recognizes any of the music I converted to I-Tunes

    Perfect, thank you.
That one's got a P55 chipset, and they've been cranky with iPod and iPhone connections on Windows 7 systems.
Are you up to date on your BIOS? (A number of folks with Gigabyte motherboards have been able to get past the P55 issues with BIOS updates.)
Alternatively, you could try the BIOS configuration change described in the following post. (Unfortunately, not all BIOSes are user-configurable in this way.)

  • QuickTime for Windows - version incompatibility with Safari 5.1?

This issue involves a Dell Laptop running Windows XP Pro, SP3.
I installed Quicktime and iTunes, and both were functioning fine.
I then installed Open Office, a couple of Windows security updates. and then Safari 5.1
Immediately after the above installations, neither QuickTime nor iTunes could play mp4 video, and QuickTime could not play m4a or mp3 audio.
I made the assumption that it must have had something to do with Open Office, or perhaps Safari 5.1.
I completely uninstalled all Apple software on the PC. I then installed Open Office and QuickTime, in that order.
QuickTime once again could play both mp4 video and m4a or mp3 audio.
I hoped that I had fixed the problem.
However, immediately after installing Safari 5.1 once again, Quicktime again could not play video or audio.
The time pointer moves in real time, but there is no audio, and video shows a new frame every 2 seconds (approx.), but no sound.
    The QuickTime version is 7.6.7.
Is there an absolute need to install the "Safari + Quicktime" installer to avoid this type of issue? My main computer is a Mac, and I'm pretty sure
I've updated Safari on occasion w/o first installing the latest Quicktime. Perhaps the issue is more complex with Windows.
    Thanks for reading

  • Windows XP incompatibility

Ok, Recently purchased a MSI FX5600XT -TD256.  Installed the card and went to install drivers upon reboot and I get this:
The software you are installing for this hardware:
MSI MS-StarForce GeForce FX 5600 XT (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600 XT)
has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify it's compatibility with Windows XP.
Continuing your installation of this software may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future.  Microsoft strongly recommends that you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for the software that has passed Windows Logo Testing.
Ok, I tried updated drivers but they all give the same response.  My Windows XP is completely updated.  What is wrong with this stuff?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Paul D.

    Paul,
All that means is, the drivers were not sent into Microsoft so the MS Geeks could put their stamp of approval in them.
But as cdm says, just use the latest  nVidia Forceware Drivers.
    Take Care,
    Richard

  • Windows Vista incompatibility...

I have Vista Home Premium on an HP m7750n with a 2G Athlon processor. I have two spyware programs that I diligently run every few days, and I clean and defrag weekly.
Playing purchased and self-installed music on iTunes is fine. Within the past couple of weeks, however, iTunes has been unable to play large videos. Short podcasts are fine, but any large TV-type podcasts won't work.
    Two things happen:
    1. iTunes crashes within 15 seconds of playing a large podcast (like Photoshop TV), and the only helpful message has been a Windows Vista dialog asking me to close the program and "find a solution online". When I click "OK", nothing happens.
    2. iTunes has been trying to download a PhotoshopTV episode for about a week, and every time it finishes, I get a "-50" message saying it's unable to save it.
Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes hasn't helped, nor has Deauthorizing/Authorizing my computer. I think it's also affected my iPod, because lately its "reaction" time is occasionally delayed (I press Pause during a song, and it finally pauses 10 seconds later).

the problem is likely with the windows host and name resolution, not the cube itself. check your nameserver setup and hosts file as a starting point

  • Miix 10 ideapad Windows 10 incompatability issues

When I eventually manged to reserve my windows 10 update for my Miix 10 Tablet I was told that I was not able to update because my display was not compatable. Has anyone else had this problem with the Miix 10? I hope this is just a one off. At less than two years old I would have thought that this model would have been compatable. I've got Win 10 on my desktop now and I waslooking forwar to having it on my tablet too. Is there a solution to this issue please?

I have been a computer technician since the early 90's. I can tell you that if this is the way Lenovo supports their products, which I have had for just over a year, then I will be unable to recommend any Lenovo product to people I assist. I talked to Intel, they say it is up to Lenovo to support their product. Lenovo just adds the Miix 10 to their unsupported list. Right now, not a very happy camper. My HP DV7, 9 years old, just updated without a hitch. I may have to start recommending HP to my clients again. How about a little support Lenovo?

  • Mac Pro - Windows XP Incompatibility??

I just got a new Mac Pro with OSX 10.5.1. I tried to install Windows XP earlier, and everything worked great until windows started the actual install process. A couple of minutes after it started the install process, I got a blue screen with a "Stop 0x0000000A irqlnot_less_orequal" error. The error message made it sound like there is a piece of hardware or software on my Mac Pro that is conflicting with the installation. Has this happened to anyone else? Any thoughts on how to fix my problem?
The only thing that I have done to my mac is upgrade the software to 10.5.1 and add two sticks of memory.

The copy of windows that I got from the IT guy apparently didn't have service pack 2. Once I got the right disc it installed smoothly.

  • Adobe Acrobat 5.0 not compatible with Windows Vista

On installing this software on my new Windows Vista, incompatibility message says I need to install kernel-mode print driver. Where can I get this from. No luck with the Adobe website technical support!

Then you will need to purchase an upgrade to the current version 8.1.
Note that Acrobat Standard would be a downgrade; to retain all your
current features you'd need Acrobat Professional.
Note that there was no product called Acrobat Writer, if you want to
be exact. And you would normally have only one of "Acrobat" and
"Acrobat Reader". To make it even more confusing, "Acrobat Reader" was
    renamed "Adobe Reader".

  • Can't open browser window from RoboHelp AIR app??!

We've got a RoboHelp course that we're exporting as an AIR app using the  Packager and it works great. We've got an embedded flash file that  needs to open a website in a browser window, but, currently it will only  load the site in a new AIR window...any ideas??

I'm having this same problem also, although you gave me one option in your reply.  I can't get the "Allow" button to work either. I upgraded to Adobe Reader 9.2, and then is when I noticed I couldn't bring up the websites that I usually could before.  I don't really know what you mean about "Stand Alone Option," but I will try to find out.  I also upgraded to Internet Explorer 8, but I'm not sure if this is when the problem started or when I went to Adobe Reader 9.2.
I used to be able to get "Allow" to work if I opened the document in IE8 and not in AR 9.2, but now that won't even work. I did email the author of a PDF document I was in today in the hopes he would have the answer, but I'm not sure if I got his email address right, so time will tell on that issue.
I have a "library" of PDF documents, so I would really like to get this problem fixed.  However, I've spent at least two hours on this issue, and I really don't think it has anything to do with Windows Vista incompatibility; I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Adobe Reader, but that doesn't help much given I have emailed support and, of course, have never received an answer.
I do know there are a lot of people that are having this exact same problem, but no one has an answer to it.  I've tried to do research on this, but I have a lot of "to do" tasks I need to get done every day, so it's not like I have all the time in the world to try and fix this problem.
I would appreciate hearing from you if you do ever figure this out. My email address is [email address deleted by host] should you find an answer to this very frustrating problem. Warmly, Corinne Larimore [signature deleted by host]

  • Windows Extra Volume Control update

Which update has the extra volume control sliders I beli've there is 7 your 8

I have had the same issues. I believe the volume bar is a conflict between hardware sound controls and windows 8 audio drivers. Previously I found the only way to disable the bar was to disable all sound. There was no program or service specific to the
bar, disabling all sounds service gets rid of it, but who wants a mute computer? The best solution I have come up with so far is to update sound drivers. For me I went to the Lenovo website because I have a Lenovo 540b all in one touch screen, and I downloaded
Realtek high definition audio drivers for windows 8 64 bit. After install I had sound and voila, the bar disappeared. It did come back again a few days later after testing the touch controls for sound. I reinstalled the driver and will simply stay away from
any built in sound control, and control the volume through desktop controls. I have spent countless hours with this problem, and I know there is very little information available on the web. Hopefully it will be brought to Microsoft's attention soon. I hope
this helps all of you. I know how frustrating this is because it also completely messed up all touch function. If I come across a better fix I will post. But for now I recommend going to your pc manufacturer's website and downloading the appropriate audio
driver updates. A refresh or clean windows install will not help. I tried both. I also tried disabling all services not necessary with a selective startup through msconfig as previously mentioned. None were successful. It is definitely a hardware and windows
    driver incompatibility.

I finally made it work... As a reference, i upgraded from labview 2011 due to windows 8 incompatibility, and found that the installer kept showing these error messages.
I read in another post that if you opened the troubled VI and just clicked on the property nodes to browse and then ok, you just saved the VI, restarted labview and the error message disappeared. To my surprise IT WORKED!!!  I had to do it on several excell.llb VI's too.

  • My Canvio 500gb external hard drive not recognized on my Toshiba Laptop

Seems a bit ironic that it won't work on my Toshiba laptop (runnng both windows 7 64 bit and 32 bit) but the drivers fail when attempting to install.
Drive works fine on my old custom desktop running Vista-32 bit.
To make matters worse the Model number of my Canvio (HDTC605XK3A1) isn't showing up under product support.
Please help. This is rather unforgivable.

    Jerry,
I am experiencing the same problems with the Canvio 500GB drive I purchased today, and have read many posts about these poorly supported devices. After reading your reply I felt obligated to point out just how unhelpful it was. The issue is that it is not reconised as a USB device correctly in Windows, which is required BEFORE it would ever show up in disk management. Pretty obvious really. Second, your link was to a product specification and purchase page and has nothing close to support information. Again, pretty obvious. It seems like you did not understand the original poster's post and gave generic, unrelated information in your reply.
This Toshiba Canvio product has NO support page online from Toshiba. It is obviously riddled with problems of power usage and Windows 7 incompatibility to which Toshiba have offerred no solution either. How I wish I had read the reviews earlier instead of trusting the Toshiba brand as I have been able to in the past.
Technical forums are already full of enough useless misdirection. We don't need any more.

  • PSE11 Why does Sharpening not work in Quick or Guided Mode?

I have used PSE 5 happily and greatly liked the auto sharpen feature. I have been forced to upgrade to PSE 11 due to Windows 8 incompatibility with 5.
I am appalled to find that the sharpen feature, including auto, does not work in Quick or Guided modes. The small previews in Quick mode show the correct sharpening effect but clicking on them or using the slider does not transfer to the main image. I either have to go into full unsharp mask, which I hate for quick fixes, or use the 'adjust sharpness' option under 'filter' in Quick or Guided Mode, which increases sharpness by an unspecified amount on each click.
Surely there si something wrong here. The feature is there so why doesn't it work?
Any ideas would be welcome. If it isn't fixable I shall want a refund based on the product not being fit for purpose.
    Thanks
    dlgoodyear

Thanks for confirming that it should work ok. I've now done the obvious and uninstalled/reinstalled and it's fine now.
