Windows 7 won't install any Audigy 2 ZS drivers

I did a clean install of Windows 7 and noticed right away, that the drivers for my Audigy 2 ZS didn't get installed. Here is the error I was given via device manager / properties for card:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
This operation requires an interacti've window station.
Drivers I've tried:
From Windows Update, dated October 4, 2008<
Creative's website, Driver version?2.8.00, dated July 3 2009
Creative's website, Beta driver version 2.8.00, dated Oct 2009
Creative's website, Vista driver 2.2.0002, dated March 6, 2007
danielk's audigy support pack 3.5
When I tried the Creative executables and danielk's support pack, I do not get any errors during any parts of the install(s).
Windows Updates says the install failed with unknown reason. When I attempt to "update driver" through device manager, it says it finds the driver but it gives me the same error as mentioned?above: This operation requires an interactive window station.
What else can I try? I've also done an "upgrade" install of Windows 7 on top of the clean install (out of desperation). At this point, I feel like reloading my XP imaged install,?so I can have working audio again.
So, please, if there is something I can try, then please help. Is there a way to do a "logged" install and send it to someone at Creative?
Thanks for your time

So, just to update everyone on my situation. I think my issue was caused by the migration tool, Windows Easy Transfer.
I formatted the partition the partition that Windows 7 was installed on, and did a fresh reinstall. Upon first boot of the new reinstall, the audio drivers were still not installed. I then immediately tried to "update drivers" via device manager and Windows installed the latest beta drivers from October , 2009 with no errors.
Is there any reason why the install won't install the drivers on its own? Did it not ship with Audigy 2 ZS drivers?

  • Windows won't install any drivers using BootCamp

I'm new to using a Mac (I bought an aluminum 2.0GHz MacBook last month). I need to run Windows on it, and tested in using BootCamp, but I cannot get the Windows XP drivers to work at all. No drivers have been installed for networking, chipset, sound, video, etc.) The device manager shows almost no drivers installed. It is Windows XP SP3 as well. I have also tested this on two other Macs, with the same results. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any replies received.

If you have Auto-run enabled (not always a good idea though) it will still open to
/BootCamp folder with Apple Setup.exe to install the drivers and services to add compatibility.
I think Windows Update, esp. now with v. 7 RC1, it finds even 3rd party drivers for me and less trouble, something OS X doesn't provide.
But the step for inserting your DVD.... that is in the Boot Camp Guide and pdf.

  • Lenovo Laptops Won't Install any Drivers

I have primarily Lenovo T and X series laptops at my work. I'm trying to setup SCCM 2012 to be able to image directly from a Windows 7 source folder (just took an ISO from MSDN and extracted the contents to a folder, pointed SCCM to it). I am hoping not
to use a Sys-prepped, etc, WIM file of a fully built machine (I was able to get this no-wim setup running on a test network at home).  If I tell the task sequence not to stop on errors during the driver install step, the machines will install Windows
and otherwise complete the sequence, but have basically no drivers. I've also tried to tell the sequence to install only ethernet drivers, and those won't install. The Apply Drivers step is normally told to pick the best matched drivers, and choose from any
category. I need some help! I have attached the smsts.log file from the \smstslog\ folder on the X drive that is created. Any help is VERY much appreciated!
Two logs attached. One is the smsts.log from the smstslog folder on the x drive the other is from the c:_smstasksequence\logs folder

  • Windows 7 64 bit OS will not install any HP print drivers

My HP Pavilion p7-1297cb pc which is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit OS will not install any HP print drivers. All my windows updates are current, HP print and scan doctor did not fix it, I also tried MS fix it manager and did not work.  When I try to use my HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus installation CD or HP's download center, software almost installs, but says print drivers will not install.  Also, I tried using USB connection and windows tries to install software, but does not work.  Same for HP print driver support.   I tried installing 3 different HP printers I had and all had the same issue. Any ideas on why my system will not allow any print drivers to install?

    Hi rrfhp,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand none of the HP drivers will fully install.
I will be happy to help you.
Are you signed in as the Administrator of the computer?
I would turn off all start up programs to make sure there isn't something blocking the printer.
Click on start, in the search box type in run, enter, then type in msconfig, click OK.
    Click the Services tab.
Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
Click Disable All, and then click OK.
Then click on the start up tab at the top.
    Click on disable all.
    Reboot the computer.
Temporarily turn off any Antivirus software.
Then run the installation again by right clicking on the setup and selecting run as Admininstrator.
Don't connect the USB cable until prompted.
    Try printing now.
Then go back into msconfig and enable the All Microsoft Services and enable all on the start up tab.
Turn the Antivirus software back on again.

  • AIR seems to install but won't install any AIR apps

I installed AIR on Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise Edition, and it seems to install OK (no error messages).  But when I go to install an AIR app (Yammer desktop in this case) it will not install the app and I never see the installer come up.  This is a new computer that never had AIR on it.  First I went ot the Yammer site to load the app there, as I did on my XP computer.  The install started, but hung up.  I was at work, so I let it sit for a few hours, but it was still hung.  I then rebooted and tried to install using the offline installer.  It seemed to install, but won't install any AIR apps.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled AIR and Yammer but no change.  I also tried uninistalling using the MS FixIt utility, but no difference.  AIR seems installed but if I go to the Yammer web site, it tries to install AIR again.  Log below.

    Hi Tom,
Would you be willing to do a desktop sharing session with me so I can take a look at what is happening with your system?  If so, please contact me at [email protected]  If you want to try something immediately, I'd recommend creating a new, temporary, user account and seeing if you can install Yammer there.  If so, log back into your normal account and try launching the installed Yammer app.

  • Recovery = Windows won't install from recovery discs

I have a dv6, performed recovery off the purchased 2 discs, and it says Windows won't install.  Also, will not let me log into administrator...says my account has been disabled.  Need help asap, on roomies pc.

I also tried using a HP Windows Recovery Disk from HP for my HP G71-340US Notebook Computer, but it repeatedly fails the installation with the message:
"No OS Flag Set on Unit.  Please use EEPROM to set OS SKU value = 2.  Error RStone S Update  SRU option configuration is invalid, Loc # cound not be found in product #.  Next step: Please use EEPROM to set Loc # in either SKU # or CTO localization code".
This occurs repeatedly when trying to run the Recovery Disk from HP.
I believe there is an EEPROM problem, but I do not know what to try next.   I have backed up all my persoal data, but everything is wipped off the hard disk, currently.  I can get into the BIOS, but that does not seem to be of any help. HP tech support is of no help.
Thanks for any help or recommendations.

  • 24" iMac won't install any 'large' Apple software updates from the internet

I am having a serious issue with my iMac and neither the people on the phone at Apple Care or the 'Geniuses' at the Genius Bar have been able to assist. So, maybe someone here can:
First - here is the background information about what happened and what I've done:
A few weeks ago when the new iTunes 10 came out I went to upgrade. The upgrade failed it said. So, I thought perhaps Apple was having issues with the new software or something. So, I thought - Ok, I'll give it a day or two.
I come back and try again from Apple.com - no luck. Hmmmm - well, I just happened to see my 'software update' icon pop up and there was iTunes. I thought "Great! Now I'm sure it'll install!" No luck.
So, I think - well, perhaps I've done something to corrupt my profile. So, I create a new profile and try again. No dice.
So now I'm really confused and figure - ok, let me try a partition and I'll try again. Still nothing.
Finally I figure - ok, something is wrong here. So, since nothing is working I backup my music and important files and wipe out the hard drive and start over. No luck. And, in fact - since I had gone back to 10.5.4 or whatever - software updates needed to install to get me back to 10.5.5. Those wouldn't install through software updates OR when downloaded from Apple.com - Smaller downloads like, flash, java, firefox, etc - all download and install without issue.
I decided to engage "Apple Care" and they call me at the time I specified and we begin to do some tests on the hardware and everything came back ok. We tried from Apple.com and software updates again - still won't install the software. Keeps coming back with "Software installation failed" something about the package installer was corrupted during downloading.
The guy at Apple care thinks perhaps its my network corrupting something. This begins to make a little sense and I think, maybe he's right. My wireless router isn't that great so, maybe I'll just go replace it. However, while I'm checking out I begin to think that maybe its NOT my wireless router - because I do have 2 other computers in my house who haven't had issues downloading anything. So, this is unlikely. But, I didn't like the wireless router anyway - so I went ahead with the purchase.
I get it home - set it up and try again. STILL not working. So, I make an Appointment at the "Genius Bar". I take it in - show them the screen shots of the errors and we get started. They try to do the install of either iTunes or the combo update on THEIR network - still won't work. The genius thinks I have a bad HD and takes the computer for 2 days to look at it.
I finally get to go pick it up - excited that I'll have my iMac (which I use for work) back and functioning again. I go pick it up and they decided that it wasn't my hard drive - but likely my RAM. They couldn't prove it was the RAM but figured since I bought the RAM after I bought the iMac that this must be the issue (even though it was up to exact Apple standards and was from Crucial). So, I think - well, while I have a blank slate I'll go ahead and install Snow Leopard. So, I pick up Snow Leopard and get new RAM too and go home to install.
I get the computer home, put the new RAM in, install snow leopard and get ready to work! After snow leopard install is done - it has some new updates it needs to install. And the update FAILS to install again. Oh, and they never replaced the HD.
So, I call Apple Care again - they have no clue. They suggest making an Apple Genius Bar appointment. So, I take it in again. They run diagnostics on it from their 'Triage' external hard drive and everything checks out. He says its probably the hard drive (same conclusion they came to the first time) and said that they would replace it.
I get the computer back - take it home. Everything is up to date. All the software updates were back in place including iTunes 10. However, I still want to test and see if I can download iTunes and/or do updates. So, I uninstall iTunes and download it again. Same problem. STILL won't install any large software downloads. But, again - Smaller downloads like, flash, java, firefox, etc - all download and install without issue. Just no core Apple updates or things like iTunes will download and install on my iMac.
I then took it to a friends house - set it up on his network - same issue.
    So to sum up:
I have re-imaged the hard drive several times
    I have replaced the ram
I have replaced my networking hardware (even though other machines on the network have no issues)
I have taken it in twice to the Genius Bar and they still haven't fixed it
The Problem followed the machine and exhibited the same issues in store as it did in my home (so we know the problems stays with the machine)
I have tried it on yet a 3rd network and the issue still exists
The people at the Genius Bar told me that If I still have issues then its with my network - even though its been proven it wasn't.
Its only larger downloads like Combo Updates and iTunes that won't install.
Any ideas? Sorry for the long post but its been quite an ordeal.

Yes, I have tried the updates directly from the Apple website and a different issue occurs. When I do that I get various different errors - the most common saying 'Codec overrun'. This has happened both before and after complete software OS reinstalls (Completely wiping the HD clean).
I did a video of my issue on my iPhone. I had to cut it and compress it to get it off my phone without syncing (because I can't sync it since I can't get iTunes installed now). So, its about a minute long if anyone wants to see it:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8leWwEoIeXI
And yes, we tried to repair permissions a couple times but didn't seem to have any effect on whether it would install these updates. Again, it's NOT all software downloads/installs. It seems to be limited to LARGER pieces of software. Example: Firefox, Flash, Java and Silverlight have all downloaded and installed without error on my iMac. Apple combo updates and iTunes won't install at all.

  • Can't install any Audigy drivers, bogus er

The error I recieve when trying to install any drivers for my SB audigy is:
"you have previously installed drivers without rebooting. Please reboot and try again"
Obviously I have rebooted enough, and can't install drivers when this error keeps popping up. I googled the error and all of the solutions given there didn't fix it for me. I have uninstalled everything creative, used CleanerCC on my registry, deleted whatever i could find in regedit that had to do with creative, restarted, tried agian, etc, no dice.
I am using Vista x64 and Sound Blaster Audigy (origional), yes it's a dinosaur but i love it

    Yes!
I found a couple of creative files, but deleting them didn't do anything, so i deleted my entire appdata/temp folder (application data/temp on xp, %temp% in any case) and restarted, and it worked fine!
Note to any who have this same problem, I am sure I lost a few settings and preferences, but its a new install, but others may want to backup.
Also I had to boot into safe mode to delete them because many of the files were in use.
    Thanks!

  • Boot Camp  - Windows won't install

    Hi,
I'm running OS X 10.10.2 on my iMac 7.1 (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM). On completion of Boot Camp partition Windows 7 DVD won't install - I get a black screen prompting me to select boot mode. However, keyboard and mouse are disconnected at this stage leaving me powerless to do anything. There's nothing wrong with the Windows 7 DVD, I might add - installs perfectly when running Parallels Desktop 10/Parallels virtual machine. Can anyone tell me, how to resolve this annoying issue?
    Regards missil1

    missil1 wrote:
    Hi CellarDwellr,
    Thanks for your answer.
Although my install DVD does indeed bear the "OEM" mark, I don't think the "OEM" is the root of the problem, as the DVD installed perfectly on my iMac by means of Parallels Desktop 10. Furthermore, I made a perfect and smooth installation of Windows Vista (OEM DVD) on my iMac some years ago by means of Boot Camp (running Snow Leopard at that time).
Hence, I'm inclined to suspect this to be an OS X issue rather than anything else.
Finally, I did comply with the Boot Camp manual on both occasions.
    Regards missil1
You can't just compare your windows 7 oem to your old windows vista oem. There are many - probably hundreds - of oem versions out there. You probably have a limited notion of what "oem" stands for. An OEM version of Windows is a special version for a specific computer or models of computers and none of them are for Apple. Dell or HP might sell OEM versions of windows, tailor made to work with their models of computer. Which means they preinstall drivers specific for, say, a Dell Studio laptop. Often they will also force a partitioning scheme on a computer's harddrive as well. If it worked in Parallels, you were lucky.
If you want to try Boot Camp again, use Boot Camp-assistant to delete your Boot Camp partition and start over.

  • Windows won't recognize any of my hardware.

Whenever I try to open a game or anything requiring 3D graphics, it won't work. Also, the sound won't work either. I've gone under control panel and neither the sound card (or whatever the laptop equivalent is) and the graphics card are both just not being detected. I've tried installing NVidia drivers, but they won't install, and I've installed directx 11 and it still won't detect my graphics card. I've tried all the troubleshooting programs, and they can't find anything wrong, but of course they can't find the hardware itself.

you could just use your 10.6 disk to install all the drivers on the windows half of the partition like it tells you to in the directions facepalm

Hi brunos mum, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.

  • N8 won't install any apps?

    Hi!
Recently I bought a used N8 which has been working as expected until I noticed that it wouldn't install a single app. When I got the phone the previous user had reset the phone to factory settings and in general tried to turn it back to it's original condition. At first all apps installed without problems. The only app I experienced problems with was Nokia Store, which always got stuck on the loading screen and never opened. Now my N8 hasn't been able to install any apps what so ever, especially no .sis or .sisx files. The installation of .sis or .sisx files results in a error message Unable to install (or something similar in english). The newest software of Symbian Anna is installed on the phone. The only app I've been able to install is one with a .wgz ending.
I've tried to reset the phone to factory settings again, reset the device with *#7370# code and held the power button for 8 seconds, and my problem persists. The only possible solution which I'm considering is the "three finger reset", could that solve my problem or is there some other way?

The three fingered reset will only make things worse so it's best to avoid. Have you tried re-installing the Firmware via Nokia suite? If that doesn't help you could try re-installing the QT enviroment. Download the QT files from the following link.
     http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30612400/QT%20files.zip
You need to install all three files to your C: drive in the following order.

I am trying to run a clean installation on my hard drive, my hard drive is 500gb and I have 10gb ram running
Should I manually re-format my hard drive before I run the windows 10 64 bit installation.
Please help ! if anyone had run into this problem before, please help me ! DX

Paul Adare is correct in saying that you cannot "upgrade" from 32-bit to 64-bit. You can, however, backup your files and reload them onto your PC.
Given that you are able to boot Windows 7 after the failure to install Windows 10 Technical Preview, it is apparent that you are not formatting the drive during your clean installation. There are a number of potential issues an existing configuration can
cause, such as preventing Windows Setup from registering boot files, modifying partitions, or moving an existing installation and data to the windows.old folder. I would recommend removing the partitions from your drive (note: this will erase any data remaining
on the hard disk) during installation to ensure that Windows Setup has a fresh hard drive to install to. If you continue to experience errors, two other factors to take into consideration are:
Does your system use a storage controller that requires loading a driver during Windows Setup?
Is the hardware malfunctioning? Do the hard disk and memory pass testing software like Windows Memory Diagnostic or chkdsk?
