Windows 8.1, Military CAC, Dual Persona PIV Cert, DEE-mail Access Problem

I am not able to access the military e-mail system, Defense Enterprise E-mail (DEE) from my new computer.  My new computer is a Dell Venue 11 Pro Tablet that runs Windows 8.1 with the latest updates.  In addition, hardware wise,
I have a CAC (Common Access Card) reader, model SCR3310. Using my old personal computer and several other government computers, I am able to access DEE with no problems because they are all able to access the PIV (Personal Identity Verification)
Certificate on my CAC card.
I am not able to access DEE.  The reason is that I cannot see the fourth PIV certificate on the CAC card, even though it is there.  This certificate is called a PIV certificate. The PIV certificate on the CAC has been properly activated.
Using other computers that have a middleware software called ActivClient loaded, I am able to log onto DEE without any problems.  However, I have read that Windows 8.1 does not need ActivClient in order to access the CAC.
On my old computer, I am able to view all four certificates using ActivClient.  And I am able to publish all four certs so that Internet Explorer 11 can have access to them when I log onto DEE and other websites.
On my new computer, I am able to view three of the four certificates using certmgr.msc.  I run this by right mouse clicking on the Start button and then clicking on either Search or Run and then typing in certmgr.msc.
Within the Cert Manager window, the left pane shows, "Certificates - Curent User" > "Personal" > "Certificates".  When the Certificates folder is clicked, only three certificates are shown.  That's the problem.
How do I get the fourth certificate to show up?   The PIV cert is definitely on the CAC.  The PIV cert has been properly activated on the DMDC website and shows up on all of the computers that use ActivClient.
I have also tried installing ActivClient 7.0.2.XXX with the latest hotfix and made all other adjustments specified on MilitaryCAC.com (which usually works and worked on a very similar ASUS T-100 machine). When I install ActivClient, I can "see"
all four certs and I can log on through web.mail.mil, get the cert prompt, select PIV, enter PIN, and move on to the warning banner, and then the expected redirect to the OWA link...but when I click on the final link I get the IE error 500.
I have tried reinstalling windows, Chrome and Firefox and I have even purchased the Windows 8.1 Pro upgrade with the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

RESOLVED:
For those experiencing this issue, after a call to the Army Enterprise Help Desk, I tried using the DOD Cross Cert Removal Tool and after reboot that fixed my issue.
The newer DOD CA Root Cert installation package supposedly has the Cross Cert Removal Tool packaged together, however this additional step resolved my error 500 issue.

  • Making a Windows 7 Toshiba laptop a dual boot system (w/ XP)

I am looking to probably get a Toshiba laptop here in the next month. Most likely it will be one that will include WIndows 7. While I have another desktop with Windows 7 installed on it and like it for the most part, there are a few pieces of hardware I have that aren't running correctly right now under W7 due to drivers not being availble for it. Therefore, I made this custom desktop a dual boot system with XP & W7 on it.This way I have XP on it for when I might have to use these pieces of hardware.
I would like to possibly do the same thing for this new Toshiba laptop as well. Have XP on it in case I need it for incompatible hardware & compatibility issues that may arise. Can I easily put XP on a Toshiba laptop with W7 already installed? I would have to create a separate partition to possibly put XP on as this is the way I prefer to have it when making a dual boot system. However, I have several concerns if trying to do this. They include the following:
If I create/add another hard drive partition for XP, will I essentially make the recovery partition/software useless?
When I have made dual boot systems in the past, I usually have to start with the older OS. Then add the newer OS and it will do it automatically. Take care of everything for the dual boot menu. I have experienced problems when going backwards (like this) though. Will that happen as well & I'll then have problems getting back into W7?
If this is the case for both, do most Toshiba Laptops come with recovery software on CDs? This way I can maybe wipe the drive out, install XP and then install W7 (w/ the CDs) in order to make a correct dual boot system. Or does the recovery software/CDs need to be speically ordered directly from Toshiba & that is generally why they just put it on a recovery partition instead?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Wise of you to investigate in advance.
Your best bet by far nowadays is to get a laptop with hardware virtualization and either the Professional or Ultimate versions of Windows 7 installed. That way, you can use XP Mode.
       Windows XP Mode (Toshiba)
       Windows XP Mode (Microsoft)
You can even open an XP program directly from a shortcut in Windows 7.
For current models suitable to run XP Mode, I suggest you call ToshibaDirect at 888-520-3926.

  • Personal Oracle 8.1.5, Installation Problem

I installed Personal Oracle (Windows NT)8.1.5 and
    I installed Oracle Client 8.1.6
Personal Oracle (main database: ZEUS) works fine! only if I am at network.
As soon as I undock my laptop, personal Oracle does not allow me to get connection through sqlplus.
    I checked listeners:
    File:D:\Oracle\Ora81\NETWORK\ADMIN\listener.ora
    ZEUS =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = sashb)(PORT = 1521))
    (PROTOCOL_STACK =
    (PRESENTATION = TTC)
    (SESSION = NS)
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 127.0.0.1)(PORT = 1521))
    (PROTOCOL_STACK =
    (PRESENTATION = TTC)
    (SESSION = NS)
seems they are fine. sql.ora - looks like fine as well!
    File: D:\Oracle\Ora81\NETWORK\ADMIN\sqlnet.ora
    SQLNET.CLIENT_REGISTRATION = sashb
    NAMES.PREFERRED_SERVERS =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = sashb)(PORT = 1521))
    configuration file ... find!
    Configuration File:D:\Oracle\Ora81\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora
    ZEUS.LAN.MIL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = SASHB)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = ZEUS)
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA.LAN.MIL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
The question is very simple, why the personal Oracle works inside network, and it does not work if I undock my system?
If I need to make any changes, what changes must be done?
It is window NT, Service pack 5.
Personal Oracle installed with default settings at D: drive, with default directory settings.
    PS.
I tryed to shutdown database, listeners, and startup listeners, and after this database--did not help. I check registry... seems fine.
    What is missed?
    Thank you very much.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Usage Tracking - Access problem when Authentication Mode = Windows

    Hi Everyone,
I´m working on UPK Usage Tracking configuration, in order to provide the finished training material.
    1) In Server01 (on Window Server 2003) the UPK Usage Tracking is installed
    2) In Server02 (also on Windows Server 2003) the Usage Tracking database is installed
    3) By accessing the configuration file (http://Server01/ODSTrack/configuration/setup.aspx) on Server01,I setup the Authentication Mode = Forms
Note: The rest of the configurations were done.
    4) Once the configuration from step 3 is done, I execute the traning material (on Server01) from another node of the windows network
and as a result I´m able to perform it.
    5) I access the Statistc data on Server01 by accessing the file (http://Server01/ODSTrack/admin/default.aspx)and I´m also able to see the results.
    6) When I execute the step 3 but with Authentication Mode = Windows, and including the GROUP name (windows group specially created for this goal where my user is included),
    - I still have access to the training material (step 4)
    - I have NO aceess to the statistics data any more (step 5) and the following message is display
"You do not have permission to access this page. Please contact your Usage Tracking Server Administrator to update your permissions. "
I don´t know what else I can do, and I wonder if some other configurations need to be done at windows network and/or explorer lever or any other.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Best Regards//
    Rubén Zamudio

    Hi All,
This problem was solved by reconfiguring Usage Tracking in the authentication method (was anonymous and the solution was Windows integrated).
It is important to count on people from your organization working on Networks with some knowledge in IIS.

  • Windows 2012 R2 - Access problems to NFS shares via IPv6

    Hello,
we setup some NFS shares on HNAS storage box. The connection to this storage is only possible over IPv6 network.
My server with Windows 2012 R2 has the feature 'Client for NFS' installed and a 'showmount -e servername/or IPv6 address' works. I can see all shares when i try to open the storagebox in Windows Explorer with the command "\\servername" or "\\IPv6
    address", too.
My problem is, when I try to mount the share via "Map network drive" or "mount \\servername\sharename *" I get Error 53 - Network path not found.
The share is configured that every server in the IPv6 subnet could access it and it works on Unix machines, but not on Windows.
It does not matter if i set some option parameters for the "mount" command like sec=sys or anon, everytime error 53.
I don't know, if the share needs special options for Windows. I hope somebody can help.
    Kind regards

Another way I tried is to open command line an type "mount \\fe08--babe-face-cafe-dead.ipv6-literal.net\share *". After this an error 53 occurs immediately without any wait time.

  • Windows 7, 64 Bit, Bluetooth Hotsync, Desktop 6.2.2 by Access

Windows 7, 64 Bit, Bluetooth Hotsync, Desktop 6.2.2 by Access
I have had problems of hotsyncing my Palm T3 to my windows 7, 64 bit, laptop ever since I bought the laptop.
I've read many posts and followed various instructions to no avail.
But, I've discovered a way that works every time.
As I stated above I have a Palm T3 with built in bluetooth. My laptop is an HP DV7, operating with Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit.
I am using Palm Desktop Version 6.2.2 by Access on my laptop, of which cannot be hotsynced using a USB connection.
I installed an I/O Gear, brandname, bluetooth adapter on my laptop, I bought from Walmart. A very nice micro size adapter.
I established a BT to Laptop PC connection on my T3, and use it instead of the standard Cradle/Cable connection option that was already established on the T3 from the factory.
Make sure your bluetooth is turned on, on both the computer and your Palm device.
Make sure both your computer and Palm device are discoverable and connectable.
Make sure the Hotsync icon is displayed in the taskbar at the lower right corner of your desktop on you computer.
Now you should be setup to sync both devices by bluetooth connection, right?   Wrong.
    Here's the trick!
Connect your Palm device with your computer using your Palm charging cable connected between your Palm device and into a USB port on your computer. This will pair your device with your computer and bluetooth hotsync will begin immediately after you tap on the hotsync button on your Palm device.
    It works for me.
    Hope it works for you.
    Best wishes

In PD 6.2.2 there is a PIM conduit switcher. Have you tried this?
Another option I can think to try is to export your data in a format compatible with Outlook, .csv or .tab and then import into Outlook.
Chapura makes a program called pocket copy. It is a one time transfer of your data from PD to Outlook.
They have a program called Pocket Mirror but is only compatible with 32 bit versions.
Here is a link to their site.

    Hi,
As you mentioned, users suddenly cannot access file share, the issue most likely caused by third party software, such as antivirus software. Please refer to the thread below to troubleshoot the issue:
    File share become inaccessible
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/19205ea0-3efe-4c9c-a625-8ccf93744948/file-share-become-inaccessible?forum=winserverDS
For your second question, you can Configure Automatic Updates group policy and choose
Auto download and notify for install. This option automatically begins downloading updates and then notifies a logged-on administrative user prior to installing the updates
