Windows 8.1 on U300S: No bluetooth and webcam

I've just updated my U300S to Windows 8.1. Unfortunately, both the bluetooth adapter and webcam fail to show up in the device manager.
Trying to install the older Windows 8 drivers doesn't help either.
Is Lenovo going to provide dedicated 8.1 drivers in the near future? Or can I find compatible drivers someplace else?

  • Bluetooth and Webcam on My two computers

Hi, my name is Frank, how do you do!    I Have posted this elsewhere as well for maximum exposure!  That is why it says I just came across your post but anyway:  Here it is>>>>>> I just came across your post reply and I have a similar problem (the reason I am here searching, Eureka!) so I thought I would take this opportunity to ask, if I may about my situation.   I purchased my computer slightly before 12/25/2012 at BestBuy.   It is a HP Envy m6 Notebook PC with original Win 8 64 bit upgraded free to Win 8.1 last year and getting ready to upgrade to Win 10 when it is released! Yeah!  Product number is C2N76UA#ABA BIOS is F.26 System Board: 18A4 73.50 GRAPHICS BOARD:  Intel(R) HD GRaphics 4000 MicroProcessor:  Intel9R) Core (TM) i5-3210M CPU @ 2.5GHz Operating System:  Windows 8.1 upgrade 64 bit  soon to be upgraded to Win 10 64 bit! Memory:  Two -  4GB Samsung 1600MHz for 8 GB Total  l would like to know if the above PC was suppose to come with Bluetooth or not? and if not if I could purchase an adapter thru HP? that would make sure it works through this PC   (I also have an another older PC HP notebook Pavilion DV6 with Win 7 service pack 2 (latest)  which I would also like have adapter for bluetooth) (this Win 7 PC has a broken  Built in WEBCAM  which I need to fix at some point, any hints on that issue?) YES,  I KNOW I STARTED THIS QUESTION ABOUT BT !   Anyway, I can't get built in webcam to work anymore, it use to work so after researching I probably have to send it back to HP (internet research and trial and error diagnosis) for repair or purchase an external one (which is undesirable) but anyway: (if you can shed some light on that subject,  I would appreciate it since I'm here asking questions anyway for efficiences sake!) Or buy a new computer, haha which I really don't need except for that feature built in and perhaps the touch screen...(I'll probably do that if it can't be repaired.) Sorry to be so wordy but I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to get rid of all the problems I've been having all at once and spending so much time researching and diagnosing and trying to troubleshoot and repair my computers INSTEAD of just using them..  Sometime computers can be a waste of time you know. I really would like to use it to be productive ONLY not just maintaining it so I really appreciate any help I can get on this. Thanks in advance if you take the time to respond and if the proper solution is provided  I'll be sure to shower you with accolades and such and honor you as a true expert!   Kudos. Kudos to be given, hurrah!!! Thanks and I await an answer......(s) to above 3 issues! Sincerely, Your internet friend, Frank H PS:  I will monitor your response, thanks!: smileyhappy:  hmm no emoticon showing........

Hi, Frank: Your Envy notebook does not come with built in bluetooth according to the product specs at the link below. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-ENVY-m6-Notebook-PC-series/5296045/model/5312259/document/c03489413/ If it had come with built in bluetooth networking, that feature would have been listed along with the 802.11b/g/n WLAN wireless connectivity specification. I purchased this external usb bluetooth adapter for my HP desktop, and it would work fine any notebook PC too. http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTD-400-Bluetooth-4-0-adapter/dp/B007Q45EF4 Unfortunately, I would not be able to help you with the webcam problem.

Intel iMac; upgraded adobe flash; bluetooth keyboard no longer pairs but magic mouse still OK. With Bluetooth switched on the screen splits into 4 areas and open windows seperate and shrink. Switch off Bluetooth and problem disappears and iMac works OK with plug-in keyboard and mouse

    Hi, Derek -
...the screen splits into 4 areas and open windows seperate and shrink.
Sounds like Spaces is being activated somehow. With the wired keyboard and mouse in use, select the Exposé & Spaces control pane in System Preferences, click the choice in that pane for Spaces. See what the settings are. There are some activation settings in that pane - by default, F8 activates it.
It could be that the bluetooth keyboard has some stuck keys and is activating Spaces; or that the activation command has somehow been reset to something that the bluetooth mouse, or bluetooth itself, is triggering.

I recently purchased a Phoenix 810 with Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac featuring Dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) 2 x 2 MIMO technology.  when I purchased the system I used the Bluetooth to connect to external bluetooth speakers with windows 8.1.  I could easily see this menu option in my network option in the control panel.  Recently I tried to use the speakers but could not however they show in my system devices.  I also tried to add new and discovered thar Windows is not longer showing anything with Bluetooth in the control panel.
I have downloaded latest drivers but Windows still does not recognize bluetooth in the control panel anywhere.  Any idea why I could setup and pare bluetooth deviced and now I can't?

  • Updated to Windows 8.1, Having Problems with Touchscreen, Bluetooth, and Mouse

So, I'm having a few problems that I've tried googling and even looking through all these threads about the same problems but I can't seem to find someone (HP tech OR User) with a solution.
    I have a few problems:
    1) Touchscreen doesn't work anymore
    2) Mouse pointer does not appear on screen anymore (It's not "invisible" it's just completely not there)
    3) Bluetooth file transfer from my phone (Galaxy Note 3) to laptop and vice versa does NOT work
There are also a few things that I've already tried:
    1) Hardware and Software troubleshoot
    2) Updating drivers
    3) Removing and re-installing programs (Synaptic)
    4) Connecting to a mouse (which solves the mouse problem, but when disconnected, the moust pointer is stuck where it was last pointing)
    5) Restarting the laptop (multiple times into different modes)
My laptop is the HP ENVY TouchSmart m6-k025dx Sleekbook (Energy Star)
And I've only had the laptop for a few months. EVERYTHING was GREAT until I updated the stupid Windows 8.1 update. I've been sitting here for a good week now trying to figure out a way to fix this. Really about to throw this out the window.
    PLEASEEEE AND THANK YOU!

    Hello amykwon0520,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I thank you for provide the amount of information you have. I do have a few questions for you to start with though.
    1) After updating to Win 8.1, did you make sure that all updates were completed? (Please check to make sure all Windows updates are completed, as well as using the HP Support Assistant to verify drive updates are completed.)
    2) The driver updates that you've complete. What driver's have you updated? Where did you do the updates from? (device manager, downloaded from online, ect..) If downloaded, was it form this page: HP ENVY TouchSmart m6-k025dx Sleekbook Drivers?
    3) Did everything work correctly prior to the updates to 8.1?
To address the issues that you mention having since doing the update, I have a document for each one that may help you with resolve it.
    1) TouchScreen not working - Please following the troubleshooting in this document: Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues in Windows 8.
    2) Mouse point not appearing on screen/touchpad not responding - Please following the suggestions in this document: Using and Troubleshooting the TouchPad or ClickPad (Windows 8).
    3) Bluetooth and file transfers - Please refer to this document: Using Bluetooth Devices (Windows 8).
*Note* All documents say Windows 8, but the steps do apply to 8.1 as well.

  • PC Suite, Bluetooth and Windows 7 - Cannot autheni...

I had real problems getting PC Suite to connect via bluetooth to my 6300 phone.  I'm using a CSR type dongle which installed via plug and play using the Microsoft drivers.
I installed PC suite and followed the instruction to "connect a phone".   The phone was discovered and pairing attempted using the default 123 passkey.  I entered the passkey into the phone.  PC suite sat there for about 5 minutes, then came back with "Cannot authenicate phone".  This was tiresomely repeatable!
After much messing about I finally got the PC suite to authenticate the phone and its all working finel.  Here is what I did in case this helps anyone with the same problem:
    Install PC Suite.
From the Windows Start Menu In "Devices and Printers" the bluetooth device should be visible - Mine shows "CSR Bluetooth Radio"
Check the Bluetooth settings of the device "Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer" should checked
Still in" Devices and Printers", click on "Add Device", if the Bluetooth is working correctly, this should scan bluetooth and discover the phone (make sure the phone is set to visible or discoverable).
(An alternative method is to open Control Panel, under the "Hardware and Sound, there should be "Add Bluetooth device" option under "Devices and Printers". )
Select the phone and follow the instructions and pair the PC with phone.  This will involve entering the passkey generated by Windows
If successful the phone should now appear in the Devices list.  I now see "Nokia 6300" as a device.
The next steps are the ones I was missing: right click on the phone device and select Properties and then the "Services" tab
Windows should access the phone device for the services offered by the bluetooth phone.
    Check mark the following services:
    Dial-up Networking [DUN]
    Serial Port (SPP) 'COM1'
Serial Port (SPP) 'Nokia PC Suite'
    and click ok
Start up PC Suite and go through the "connect phone" procedure again and it should now connect successfully.
    Hope this works for you
    Chris

    Chris
    I do not have
    Dial up Networking (DUN)
    Serial Port (SPP) Comm1
Srial Port  (SPP) Nokia PC Suite
Instead, I have the following listed in the service tab
    Advanced Audio
    Handsfree Te;ephony Gateway
    Object Push (Obex)
    Remote Control
    Remotely controllable Device.
I am using Windows 7 Professional and my phone is a Nokia 808 V05 20

  • Short-sighted approach to Bluetooth and Wi-fi.

I've just bought an Ipad - which I think is a truly amazing bit of kit. However within 36 hours I've discovered some very basic shortcomings in the software design in respect to both Bluetooth and Wi-fi. I was so shocked at their absence that I ran these past the Apple Support team who confirmed my worst fears.
The Ipad Bluetooth will not work with my Blackberry 9000. The Blackberry pairs with the Ipad but the Ipad syncs with nothing. Given that Blackberries are probably the most used smartphone in the business community - this seems like a really serious oversight?
Wi-fi printing I'm told only works with Airprint 101 - but then is limited to a narrow range of HP printers. Why? I have an HP Photosmart 3310 which is wireless and can accept wireless connectivity from any Windows based PC. I did evetually find a messy solution to the problem which I'll detail because I'm sure there are clever enough people working at Apple who might just be able to fix it better!!
You need to create a directory in the Programs Directory called 'Airprint'. You then need to download the three files that Airprint 101 uses and locate these in the directory. As soon as you rum 'Airprint.exe' your Ipad will show you any printers that are attached through wi-fi. However you must keep the directory with the Airprint files open because as soon as you close it - the printers disappear.
I improved the situation slightly by creating a task in the Task Sceduler to run when the PC opens and which automatically runs the 'Airprint.exe' file. Now all I have to do is to ensure that my Windows PC is on befire I use my Ipad!!
There has to be a better way than this and I feel it detracts from the Ipad as a potentially super piece of kit.
Perhaps someone from Apple would like to look into this and give some feedbasck? Thanks.

The Ipad Bluetooth will not work with my Blackberry 9000. The Blackberry pairs with the Ipad but the Ipad syncs with nothing. Given that Blackberries are probably the most used smartphone in the business community - this seems like a really serious oversight?
No. It doesn't work with any cell phones.
The iPad Bluetooth works with only with headphones and keyboards.
Wi-fi printing I'm told only works with Airprint 101
Dunno what *AirPrint 101* is. AirPrint was incoporated into iOS 4.2.1
but then is limited to a narrow range of HP printers. Why?
Besause printer manufacturers have not updated their printer firmware to speak "AirPrint". It is up to them to make their printers compatible, not he other way around.
You need to create a directory in the Programs Directory called 'Airprint'. >You then need to download the three files that Airprint 101 uses and locate these in the directory. As soon as you rum 'Airprint.exe' your Ipad will show you any printers that are attached through wi-fi.
This has nothing to do with Apple. It's somebody hack to get iPads to print through a computer.
AirPrint does not talk through a computer.
It talks directly to the printer on the network.

  • How to completely turn off Bluetooth and Wireless

    Hey everybody,
I'm running Windows XP SP3 via Boot Camp and I was wondering if anyone can assist me in how to completely turn off Bluetooth and Wireless connectivity so that I can reserve as much batter life while being in class taking notes without a plug-in source, but not uninstall. I know there is a Bluetooth control panel and I disabled it there but under "connect to" its still remains there. Basically I want to have the Bluetooth and Wireless turned off completely when I startup and still have the icons shown in the taskbar to let me know that they are still there.
    Thanks!

Joergen Thomson, I can see that you have the same thoughts like I do, I wish they could release a software that is stable and better then this.
I dont have the energi or time to report all flaus back to cisco, this product have taking to much of my time and frustration already. Thank you so much for all the time you spend to try get this product stable and hopefully a good product.
I have a costumer that have a webservice that is IP restricted, For now I have to define more then 93 policys openening for the same service because this doesnt handle address list and groups. And all the times I had to set it back to factory default becasue of HTTP Admin server stopped, VPN Problem, Firmware Upgrades, "Packet Loss" and so on takes alot of time becasue I need to reconfig policies back.
For now to they release a firmware is stable I have take this piece off the network and put the back a old Fortinet 60 box.

  • Bluetooth and Airport have disappeared on my Imac G5 20"

So it just disappeared one day, and I haven't seen it since. It happened a while back, but I'd like to sell the computer and it would be better if I had the Bluetooth and Airport back. From what I can tell from the forums, it's a software issue. I've tried some of the remedies people have suggested (pulling the power cord, etc... clear the PRAM, ditch the bluetooth.plist, plus probably a few others),  but to no avail. Any other suggestions, or is it a lost cause? It's a 2.0 HHz PowerPC G5 with 1 GB RAM; 10.5.6

    Option 1
Restart the computer while holding down the Option key.  This will tell the computer to look for bootable drives.  If it finds your normal startup disk, select let, then click the right pointing arrow to boot up the computer.  Now open up System Preferences> System> and select your normal Startup OS as the default startup disk.
    Option 2
Reset your PRAM.  Press and hold down the Command Option P R keys while starting your computer.  You will hear the startup chime.  continue holding down those keys until you hear the startup chime a second time.  Release the keys.  If the computer restarts, you will need to reset your Date and Time.  It might be time to replace your PRAM battery.  The G5 iMacs require a 3 volt CR2032 lithium watch/camera battery like below:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/CR2032/
You can find these batteries at Walmart, Kmart, Target, most local drugstore chains, for between $3-$5, or at Radio Shack for $12-$20.
If you have any G5 iMac model EXCEPT the iSight version, you can probably do the battery install yourself.  Watch this video on upgrading your iMac's RAM to show you how to remove the back of your iMac, if you don't already know how:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/imac_g5_mem_m/
While you have the back off, use a can of compressed air to blow the dust out the vents at the bottom of the iMac, the fans, and anywhere else you can.  Also inspect the 28-30 capacitors on the logic board.  Look for dark spots, if they look puffy or swollen, or leaks.
    Option 3
Reset the SMC by removing all cables (USB, Firewire, Ethernet, Modem, Power cord) from the back of your computer.  Let it sit for one minute.  Press and hold the power on button on the back of the iMac while plugging in the power cord.  Release the power on button.  Count to five, the press the power on button again.
    Option 4
Place your original, came with the iMac when purchased install disk, into the slot on the iMac, press and hold the C key while pressing the power on button on the back of the computer.  (If you have upgraded your OS from when you purchased your iMac, example your iMac came with OS 10.3 installed, and you're now using OS 10.5, then use the OS 10.5 Retail Install disk that you had used to upgrade your OS instead of the original, came with the iMac disk.)
Continue holding the C key until you see the OS starting to load.  DO NOT do an OS installation.  At the top Menu bar, select Utilities or Utility, and pull down to Disk Utility.  On the left side of the window that opens, select your normal OS drive.  Click First Aid at the top middle of the window if it isn't already selected.  Click Repair Disk from the lower right area of the window.  When that is done, click Repair Permissions to the left of the Repair Disk button you clicked earlier.
When that is done, quit Disk Utility.  From the top Menu bar (I think its under Utilities) select the Start Up Manager, and choose your normal boot volume as the startup disk.  Restart the computer.  If successful, and you've rebooted from your normal startup disk, eject the install DVD/CD, and you're good to go.
    Good luck.

    Hi @abdallah2020
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having trouble with the drivers for your notebook. Where did you find them online?
The supported and HP customized drivers for your notebook are only available for windows 7. Please see the following:
HP Pavilion dv6-6176ex Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
For any drivers you find elsewhere for windows 8, there is no guarantee that it would work. Although it is certainly possible. Most notebook manufacturers do customize the drivers for the set of hardware in a unit. You can check out the following for suggestions and the reasons some drivers are not made.
What if I Don't See My Operating System?
If you wish to try the windows 7 installation, then the drivers are at the page I included.
