HP ENVY Phoenix 810-270st CTO Desktop -Bluetooth and Windows 8.1

I recently purchased a Phoenix 810 with Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac featuring Dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) 2 x 2 MIMO technology.  when I purchased the system I used the Bluetooth to connect to external bluetooth speakers with windows 8.1.  I could easily see this menu option in my network option in the control panel.  Recently I tried to use the speakers but could not however they show in my system devices.  I also tried to add new and discovered thar Windows is not longer showing anything with Bluetooth in the control panel.
I have downloaded latest drivers but Windows still does not recognize bluetooth in the control panel anywhere.  Any idea why I could setup and pare bluetooth deviced and now I can't?

Hi,
I am running Windows 8.1 with Bluetooth and Bluetooth does not show in the Control Panel.  Look for the Bluetooth icon on the task bar.  See the below image.
Once you pair up and acknowledge the passcode on both devices this the following screen should appear (example).

  • Facebook won't load on HP ENVY Phoenix 810-135qe CTO Desktop PC running Windows 7

I just bought a new HP ENVY Phoenix 810-135qe CTO Desktop PC running Windows 7. It arrived Tuesday. I set it up, and for some reason it will not run Facebook on either of the browsers I use (Internet Explorer and Chrome).
I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome a couple of times, uninstalled the trial of McAfee and installed the Norton antivirus software I bought. Cannot figure it out. Facebooks works fine on all over devices in my home, so it is not a FB issue. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Thanks, Harry. I may have gotten it fixed... I downloaded and ran AVG (I've used it on other computers with no problem) and it flagged a program called browser something-I-don't-remember-what as suspicious. This program may have come installed on the computer and an icon for it was showing up in the hidden icons.  I don't believe Norton or the McAfee trial spotted it.
I uninstalled the suspect program and opened Chrome. A message then popped up, and I believe it was from AVG, telling me that Chrome was configured to use a proxy server but I didn't have one specified. The msg gave detailed instructions to go to the Advanced settings in Chrome and select the LAN box and then uncheck the box telling it to use proxy servers. I hadn't been this deep into the Chrome settings before. In other windows when I was asked if I wanted to use a proxy server I said no. Once I unchcked this box, Facebook  booted up on both Chrome and Internet Explorer. Actually, when I was installing Norton, some proxy server settings popped up and Norton advised me to delete them if I had not specified them. Since we don't use proxy servers, I did. But FB didn't work before I installed Norton.
I had not heard of the iPv6 launch. I will check my adapter setting and see what is selected. If everything is still working on that computer today, I won't disable anything. Thanks again for your help!

  • Windows 7 64bit USB 3.0 driver for HP ENVY Phoenix 810-200nc

    Hello,
I bought HP ENVY Phoenix 810-200nc with windows 8.1preinstaled. I wiped up win 8 and install windows 7 proffesional 64 bit, but USB 3 dont working (mouse, keyboard its ok, but external disk no), USB 2 it's absolutely ok.  THX.

Can you post the PCI\VEN character string for the USB device that lacks a driver?
The following image is an example. Right click any device without a driver and select properties to invoke the properties window. See the cues I pointed out in the Properties window to get to the PCI\VEN character string.

  • Hp envy phoenix 810 shuts down by itself when not in use

I purchased a HP Envy Phoenix 810 December 2013 and use Windows 8 365 on it.  This is a home computer and is used for general purposes - no gameing, etc.  It will just shut itself down when we are not using it for awhile, but not on a consistent basis.  For example, early Sunday it had shut itself down sometime, I started it in the morning, and twice more it shut itself down through the day.  I finally turned it back on Monday afternoon, and it stayed on through the evening and night, and it was still on Tuesday morning.  I can't seem to find a pattern to when it decides to shut down.  I've run Norton, Malwarebytes, Superantivirus and haven't found anything.  I have the same computer & software (Norton, Microsoft 365) at work and haven't had a problems with it.  I've updated it with HP's updates.  Any suggestions?

Usually when a computer shuts down it is because of an overheat problem but doubtful it it is a idle.  Be sure that it is no near any heat source and that the fans are clean with no obstructions and use a can of air to clean the inside of the computer.
Another cause is the power supply, either the PSU is faultering or the wall socket may be getting some interupts.  Worth checking out.
Have a look at your power settings in the Control Panel, see this site:

  • Desktop SMS and Windows Mail don't work properly together

    Hi
thought I would post there here as been having some issues with my Windows Mail but my desktop computer doesn't suffer same issues and on a Vista forum where I posted my problem a couple of very helpful told me who to try solving the issues.
One of them suddenly realised I'd said my laptop was a Toshiba and apparently the Desktop SMS and Windows Mail just don't work properly together so the person suggested unless I use it to uninstall it apparently amongst the technically trained its known that these two programs don't like each other and would explain why my desktop doesn't have the issue but laptop does.
After resetting the Windows Mail (tutorial on a vista site http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/) Touch wood don't be put off by vistax64 as site does both 32 and 64 and followed Brink's excellent resetting Windows Mail (didn't restore any mail) and then uninstalled Desktop SMS and touch wood no more mail issues as has been giving me problems virtually daily with marking draft emails as read/sent.
So had to click on forward then delete those bits and finish email to send it and touch wood since doing these two things as soon as send an email to draft or outbox get the number of emails in the brackets whereas before this wouldn't happen unless I closed the program then reopened it.
Hoping these solutions have fixed my problem and wanted to share it with anybody else who wants to read this thread and would recommend the Vista 64 site as they're all really helpful over there and speak in non technical terms for those of us not technically trained.
    Debbie

I have marked this as answered as it was more a post to help others who may have experienced the same problem I did and didn't get a reply or just didn't know that this program could be the reason their Windows Mail has issues that can't seem to be resolved any other way apart from ignore them and hope they don't get worse.

  • What Configaration Macbook Air is needed to install and run Paralles Desktop 8 and Windows 8

Hello, I'm going to buy an Apple Macbook Air and want to install Paralles Desktop 8 and windows. What configaration will I need in the Macbook Air ? I don't want to loose speed in loading apps etc... and I want to have enough space.
    Thanks

Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac Read Me and Release Notes
    Hardware
    - A Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor. - At least 2 GB of RAM (4 GB or more recommended)
Note: Your Mac must have enough memory to use Mac OS X and its applications plus the memory required for each additional operating system (and its programs) that you want to use simultaneously.
    - At least 700 MB of space available on the boot volume (the volume that has Mac OS X) for Parallels Desktop installation.
    - 15 GB of available disk space for Windows.
    - An Internet connection for select features and software updates.

  • How  do I deinstall parallels desktop 6 and Windows 7 pro?

How do I deinstall parallels desktop 6 and windows 7 pro so as to ensure that all partitioning and space used for those programs is reinstated?

You can as Kenneth said just drag the virtual machine file to the trash. You should however run the Parallels Uninstaller, present on the Parallels installation disk or in the installer disk image, to completely remove all the Parallels components. Just dragging the Parallals app to the trash may leave components installed and possibly running.

  • My Book 3.0 (1TB, USB 3.0) detection problem with Envy Phoenix 810-135qe

I have  a My Book 3.0 (1TB, USB 3.0)... The older My Book not the newer one... "My Book Essential" or something like that.
I was using it with W7 x64 backup utility on an older HP desktop (HP Pavilion a6560t) without issue up to the day my new HP Envy 810-135qe arrived. I downloaded the latest drivers from WD support, and the thing PnPed fine off the non-powered USB 3.0 on the back of the 810. However, the 810 drops connection after sleep, hibernation, lock, or simply just over time. I've run diagnostics on the WD and the cables, all checked out fine. I tried shutting off power saving to the USB 3.0s in device manager (just a guess), and that seemed to work for a few weeks, however I'm still having the detection issue periodically. All of my drivers are up to date on the HP side. I'm fully reformatting the WD now to see if that might somehow fix the issue (I'll update in a few days on how that worked out).
Anyone have any idea what's amiss? I suspect something with the BIOS. HP chat support has been no help (they go through the same checks I've already done myself) and they got really spooky on another chat when I asked about adding a SSD as the boot drive (I knew it was an issue from here and other forums).... Handed me off to second tier support, and all they would tell me is that they couldn't tell me anything... Basically, no support for any config except for how it was shipped because it's a "custom build" (yes, buyer's regret big time).
Secondly, anyone running a similar config with a en external back up that's running smoothly? My WD is getting old so I was thinking of one of the newer portable USB 3.0 HDDs (both 2.5 and 3.5). My specs follow.

    Anglogator, welcome to the forum.
I have the exact computer (See my signature below.).  I have installed a Samsung EVO 840 500 GB SSD.  It works absolutely great.  Samsung SSD's seem to be the only brand that boots without changing any settings in the UEFI Firmware.  If you decide to buy one, I will be glad to walk you through the installation process.
I also have a "WD My Book Essentials" 2 GB external hard drive.  It works perfectly without making any changes to the BIOS.

  • New drives that would work in my ENVY Phoenix 810

Hello,I am looking to add a new harddrive and a ssd drive to my ENVY Phoenix 810qe Desktop,Anybody have any experience with this can tell me what I need to do? I would like to know what brand drives I should get, also any brackets and screws I would need.would any 3.5 wd hardrive fit into the slots?..Thanks!!!

    Hi,
Please post the HP product number for your PC. How to Find the HP Model Number and the HP Product Number or let HP automatically find your PC model number and HP network attached printers.
Most 3.5" hard drives and 2.5" SSDs will functionally work in your PC.
The big challenge is finding the correct adapter, screws and possible slide guides.
HP Partsurfer would be the place to start for acquiring the required hardware.

  • HP Envy Phoenix 810 suddenly shutwdown

Since the beginning I had my HP Envy Phoenix (so even freshly installed from the factory), after working on it for a few minutes, it suddenly rebooted, for no apparent reason (e.g. no specific heavy software running) . After this 'automatic' restart, this rebooting behaviour is not present anymore.
However, each time I start up my computer, the same sudden reboot behaviour happens. It happens after a random time somewhere between 1 and 10 minutes.
In fact I learnt to live with it.
But then today, this  (or a similar) reboot behaviour suddenly appeared after a few hours of working (having lost some work unfortunately) , it happend a few times in a row. Also no heavy software was running, just some MS Office sofware. At a certain moment, I felt very stressed, because the computer didn't startup anymore, even not when pushing the on(-off) button and even not when having it completely disconnected from powersupply for about 5 minutes.
Luckily after 30 minutes or so it wanted to start up again ... although it resided several minutes on the "HP-logo only" screen.
What could be possible reasons for this behaviour and how to solve it?
    Thank you

  • Storm 2 9550 Bluetooth and Windows 7

I am having an issue with my new Storm 2 9550. I can get it to pair with my computer and synchronize wirelessly, but I cannot transfer anything such a pictures to my computer via bluetooth. If I look in devices and printers it shows my blackberry, but it has a large yellow exclamation point on it. When I tell it to troubleshoot, it tells me there is no driver installed for "bluetooth peripheral device." There are three instances of this in the device manager. Where can I find drivers for this? I installed the desktop manager and that did not solve the problem. I let it search for drivers and it comes up empty. Can anybody help me with this?

Many (including me) were stumped by the appearance of two bluetooth devices missing drivers in Windows 7 64-bit build 7100 following the installation of Blackberry Desktop Manager Software version 4.6 or higher.
These exclamation ! marked bluetooth peripheral devices are merely two more ports that Windows 7 can't find the drivers for (there should be FOUR total after you follow my suggestions).
Lucky for YOU, these port drivers are already present on your system (assuming you installed RIM Blackberry Desktop Manager software 4.6 or higher).
The 'trick' is to manually load the extra two PORTS by choosing from a list of drivers.
Find the 2 problem drivers-missing entries in your Bluetooth devices list, right click on the first one, choose UPDATE DRIVER SOFTWARE. Then choose Browse My Computer, then Let Me Pick From a List of Device Drivers. Scroll down till you see PORTS, then choose Rim Virtual Serial Port v2 and click Apply.
You'll get a warning message from windows 7, ignore this choose OK or apply and load the driver. It will report the device is set up correctly.
REPEAT this process 1 more time for the 2nd problem child bluetooth device that is missing the driver.
Then pair up your Blackberry with your laptop. Don't forget to REMOVE your laptop or PC from the blackberry list of paired bluetooth devices and then pair it all over again now that you've fixed the drivers on the pc/laptop side of things in Windows 7 by adding those two ports that were missing (assuming you're upgrading to Windows 7 and having problems where you can't sync with Outlook and your Blackberry using BLUETOOTH.
Once you've paired your Blackberry successfully, you'll need to configure Bluetooth in your connections options in Blackberry Desktop Manager 4.6 or higher.
You can then forget about plugging in the USB micro-cable and happily SYNC it with your bluetooth

  • HP ENVY H8 Series Issues w/ Drives & Explorer, and Windows

    Hello all,
I purchased the computer brand new, and have had intermediant problems throughout its life. The wi-fi card in this computer is garbage (it is now hard-wired, being the only true solution) and the Windows installation seemed a bit buggy, but I let that slide since it may have been Microsoft's fault. (it has improved w/ updates)
My major issues I keep constantly notice after years of installing updates is that my taskbar will disappear and windows explorer will restart at random. Additionally, I have multiple media drive ports on the front (CF, SD, xD, Pro Duo, etc) and it has been giving me issues with reading SD cards. Before my SD card is blamed, I have 4 of them and they all perform perfectly in the cameras they are in. The computer does not have problems getting data off of the card after its read it intially, but in order for it to recognize that I've inserted an SD card - I have to go into Device Manager and select the SD card under the Drives section. Once it pops up (sometimes it hesitates a few seconds before doing so), the properties window shows up with no prompting errors cited. At this point, the SD card magically appears in the Explorer window like normal. I've gotten used to this practice and have the Device Manager shortcuted to my Desktop. Yes, the LED indicator does light when the SD card is physically inserted into the slot, but the computer seems to be on deaf ears about it. Either way, these are small problems with likely Software... but I figured I'd ask since they bother me occasionally when I need to just get something off the SD card quickly or am trying to quickly print out something. It has gotten better with updates however, but these issues just simply haven't been addressed, and I feel they won't be.

  • Desktop manager and windows 8

I have attempted to get desktop manager to work with windows 8 for months.  I have ensured that I have followed various instructions including enabling .net 3.5 without success.  I install the desktop manager and my computer recognises the playbook when I plug it into a usb, however, the blackberry software does not  connect to the playbook.  Have tried turning off avast antivirus without success.
Can anyone helpl with an alternative, please?
It works with my MAC computer but not with my windows laptop!
    alun.
    Thanks

I have the exact same situation, and to make it worse I can't even get the desktop manager installed, let alone work.  I keep getting error message #1723.  It's hard to know whether it's a Windows problem or a Blackberry problem, although if it works on your Mac I guess it's a Windows problem.  I bought a new laptop and am having trouble with a lot of incompatibility problems with Windows 8.1.  I'll have to revert to my old Windows 7 laptop unless someone comes up with an answer.  Hopefully someone in the Community has one [fingers crossed].
