Windows 8 Printer offline error

Hello i posted this question on answers.microsoft.com but someone suggested me that is not a right place to post and he suggested me to post here on technet
I am using brother MFC DCP 7030 in my office.I have latest drivers installed.I have installed it on pc and than accessing it from other pc as clients.
First i shared it on server machine than added it on clients
using \\IP Server\Share name right click printer than connect.
Now every thing works ok but only for 1-2 days.Than problem starts printer starts showing offline.I can ping to server but printer is offline.
i searched and tried that SNMPLegacy value method but still same problem.
I have tried with different printer of HP Laserjet 1020 but the problem is still there.Windows 8 is troubling me :(
I have to remove it and again install as a temporary solution.
Please give me permanent solution if anyone has.I am fed up installing and uninstalling again and again.
Computers are on WORKGROUP (server and client both) with ip range of 192.168.0.1-254
Thanks
Waiting for helpfull reply

Ankit-IT,
The first thing I would do is to make sure you have the correct driver for your printer installed.
The
Windows Compatibility Center verifies that your printer is compatible with Windows 8.1 and also provides a link to obtain the latest drivers from the manufacturer.
Once you’ve verified that you have the correct and latest driver installed, take a look at the printer itself and see if it’s set to go into a standby mode.
It’s possible that when your printer finally shows as offline, that it’s doing so because of going into a standby or sleep mode.
Another scenario is that the IP address is changing on you, causing the printer to go offline.
Take note of what the IP address is on a day that it is working, then on the day you find it offline.
You may end up needing to change the IP address to static.
One final thing that I would check is the SNMP status in the properties for the port your printer is installed on.
On your system acting as the server:
Go into Devices and Printers by pointing your mouse to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and click
Search.)  Type in “Devices and Printers”.
Right-click on your printer and choose Printer Properties.
Click on Change Properties at the bottom of the window.
Go to the Ports tab.
Choose Configure Port.
Uncheck SNMP Status Enabled.

  • ESTN c510 "Printer offline" error

My e510 will work properly for awhile but eventually one of the two computers connected by hardwire to the network will have their documents sit in the Spooler/"All active printers" file & eventually will give a "Printer offline" error message The printer is connected wirelessly. Going thru ALL the "Guided solutions" does nothing. Printer is listed as the "Default" & has a green checkmark next to it, but says it's offline Zeen shows proper network connection as does a Microsoft network diagnostic. I have also re-booted my Verizon router & the computers. The only way to restore to working order is to delete the printer and re-install the software. Any queued documents start printing before the intall is even complete. Interesting, I had the same un-resolved problem with my Photosmart 3310 & that was connected by cat 5. Computers, routers & switches are in perfect running order with no malware. Any help would be appreciated

If you keep losing your network connection with your eStation, you may want to set a static IP for the printer (not the Zeen).  Click this link for information on how to do that on your printer (similar model of printer in link).  Also, I have included a document so that you can make sure you have done all of the basic troubleshooting to keep this from happening again.

You shouldn't have to uninstall every time this happens.  I will need to know the operating system of your computer to assist you with a way around that step however.  Please specify the OS of the computer you use the most so I can help you if the above document does not.

  • Deskjet 4480 and "Printer Offline" message after moving laptop and re-plugging.

I have an HP 4480 deskjet All-In-One printer wired to my HP dv6-2150us laptop (Win 7) with an USB cable. The printer is the network printer for my HP laptop and an Acer Aspire netbook (XP).
Often, when I unplug my laptop from the power source and from the printer's USB cable to take my laptop to another area to do some work and then bring it back to the computer table, and and reattach the cables to power and printer OR when I shut down or put into sleep mode my compter, the next time I attempt to print I will get a Printer Offline message.
At that point, I have to turn off the printer, unplug it from the laptop and power source, shut down the laptop and netbook, reattach everthing and plug all in again.
Then, my laptop, to which the laptop is plugged in by USB, will show that the printer is reinstalling, just as if it was the first time install.; I am even asked to re-register the printer.
Note that when the netbook is shut dow or, unplugged  to use elsewhere, it is often unabale to print, showing "no installed printer." Then I have to  search for a network printer and re-link it to the netbook.
All this is quite frustrating. I have read the forum for similar posts, but nothing quite seems to match.
As to a link offering a download for a printer trouble shooting link, i cannot seem to actually find the way to begin the download. I see a questionaire form but no download link. Hmm.
i am not a newbie, but stumped about this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000  printer offline

    Hello,
This printer has recently been giving me a lot of problems. Whenever I try to use it, all I get is a Printer Offline error. It worked fine the first month or two when I got it, ever since it only works randomly, and thus has become very unreliable when I need it. Is there anyway to fix this? It is hooked up via a usb cable as well. If anyone can help me, it is greatly appreciated.

I am experiencing the same problem. Except I have never gotten mine to work. It prints out diagnostic sheets but will not print when I ask it too (wirelessly). Please help!

  • Windows 8/8.1: Printer Offline Problems

    Windows 8/8.1: Printer Offline Problems
Are you getting an error that your network or wireless printer is offline when you try to print?
When you print to your network printer, does it fail, and when you check the printer status it says Offline?
Do you have problems printing to your wireless printer after your PC has been asleep?
If you answered YES to any of the above questions, then you have a problem with your network printer being offline.  After some investigation into this problem, we recommend updating windows.  Run Windows update to check that your version of Windows 8 is up to date.
There are a few windows updates that may help with this problem
    1)    Install this Microsoft patch to make sure this private-public-private network issue does not reoccur. It is part of the April 2014 Windows Update package for Windows 8.1 and Server2012 R2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355).
    2)      Install this Microsoft patch for the WSD service.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3000461
If this does not help, then please follow the steps list below which will give you a Workaround that may help with this problem.
Assign the printer a static IP address
An IP address is an Internet network address that the computer can use to communicate with the printer. Enter a static IP address to make sure that the wireless connection remains stable. Follow these steps to assign the printer a static IP address.
    Get the printer IP address.
Press the Wireless button on the printer control panel to view the network settings.
Access the Network menu on the printer control panel.
Print a Network Configuration Page or Wireless Test Report page.
Once you have the printer's IP address, open a new web browser window or tab.
Type the IP address in your web browser's address bar, and then press Enter.
Make sure that you type the IP address into the browser's address box. If you type it into a tool bar search box, the EWS will not open.
If the message 'There is a problem with this website's security certificate' appears in the web browser when you try to open the embedded web server (EWS), or when you navigate within the EWS, click ' Continue to this website (not recommended)'.
     note:
Choosing 'Continue to this website (not recommended)' will not harm your computer while you navigate within the EWS for your printer. If you encounter this error outside of your printer's EWS, your computer could be at risk.
If the browser fails to open the EWS after you click 'Continue to this website (not recommended)', refresh the browser window.
The Embedded Web Server (EWS) for the printer opens and confirms that the printer is on the same network as the computer.
In the EWS, click the Network tab.
In the Wireless section, click the Network Address (IP) or IPv6 configuration, depending on your network setup.
Click Manual IP, and then click Suggest a Manual IP Address. A manual IP address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway displays.
After the manual IP address populates, click Manual DNS Server.
     note:
Keep a record of the manual IP address for reference.
On the Network Configuration Page you printed earlier, locate the DNS Server addresses, type the DNS addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply.
If the DNS addresses are not listed on the Network Configuration Page, or if you have trouble accessing the network or Internet with the original DNS addresses, use one of the following methods to obtain DNS addresses.
Method one: Use publicly available DNS server addresses
Configure the printer using publicly available DNS server addresses. To find available DNS server addresses, search online for 'public DNS servers'.
After you find public DNS server addresses, type the addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply.
Method two: Get the network DNS information via your computer
Select your operating system, and then use the following directions to obtain the DNS server addresses.
Right-click the Start button () or the lower left corner of the screen, click Run, type cmd, and then press Enter.
When the command window opens, type ipconfig /all, and then press Enter. Information about the computer's network displays.
Scroll to and locate the DNS Server addresses.
In the EWS, type the DNS addresses in the Manual Preferred DNS Server and Manual Alternate DNS Server fields, and then click Apply.
Print a test page to make sure that the printer's IP address is the same as you assigned.
Right-click the Start button () or the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, type HP and click your printer in the results. Click Utilities, and then click Update IP address to update the address in the software.
Adding a Wireless Network Printer using Control Panel
Go to Control Panel and choose Devices and Printers
    Click on Add Printer
The PC will search the local network and display the network printers.
Choose the printer and select Next
The system will then try and auto select a compatible driver
Select the current driver and Click Next
The system will then ask for a name for the printer. The user can change the name and then click Next
The User can then choose to share the printer
The user can select to make this new printer the default and then click Finish.
The new printer is now setup but this printer may be using the In OS driver (Class) rather than the HP Full Function driver.
To change the printer to use the HP Full Function driver follow the following instructions. I would recommend changing the driver to the HP Full Function driver as the User can then use features such as Custom paper sizes.
Go back into Control Panel and choose devices and Printers, right click on the newly created printer and choose Printer Properties
    Choose the Advanced Tab
Click on the driver section drop down and choose the Driver for the printer that does not have the words Class driver after it.
Click apply and then OK and the driver will be changed to the HP Full Function driver for the printer.
The user should try this configuration and see if they still experience problems.
    Please Note:
DO NOT Remove the Original Printer Icon from Devices and Printers as the HP Printer Assistant will stop working.
    JonW
    I work for HP

I have the printer offline problem. It started when I ran out of toner. I have now installed a new toner cartridge.
Your solution does not help me because I have tried to install Win8.1 and it failed.
I would just reinstall my printer but I have a long list of items in my print queque and I don't want to lose them.
    Is there another solution?
Or is there a way I can save the print queue?

This just started happening when I installed my acrobat professional 8.0 on my new computer (with Windows XP Pro). Everything works fine, but when I print a document to .pdf, I get that windows printer pop-up message that says that it was unable to print. As a consequence, I get a bunch of allegedly unprinted documents in my printer queue that I have to keep deleting. This is more an annoyance than anything else, but can anyone tell me how to stop this from happening??

  • Windows printing error 256

Hello everyone, this is my configuration:
    MacBook Pro with OS X 10.4.10 and all the updates;
    a desktop with Windows XP on it;
Canon MP810 as a printer and printfab as a driver.
I have got a Windows printer and I've had the "error: 256" when I try to access the printer or simply add it to the printers' list since a short time.
Probably I have had this since a security update.
    http://www.apple-discuss.com/redirect.php?fid=6&tid=11292&goto=nextoldset
There you can read another discussion about this issue: no one could figure out how to fix this.
I have already tried using the advanced button clicking with option+spacebar on "more" and then manually setting the "smb://" URL.
I tried printing from another laptop where I have Windows and it perfectly worked.
I don't wanna spend cash for buying the wireless kit to print without the printer to be connected to a switched on computer.
Do you have any suggestion to fix the problem? I haven't called Apple yet, because very likely they won't be able to help me out with this problem. I called them in the past for easier issues and they couldn't help me. ^^
These are some tries that I did to debug the problem:
    [i]Jupiter:~ deviad$ echo "hello" | smbclient //TimeMachine/CanonMP810 -c "print -"timeout connecting to 208.69.32.130:445

What I do not understand now is who the heck is this 208.69.32.130. Why does my computer try to connect to this host? The IP of TimeMachine is 192.168.1.2
The IP of my macbook pro on the network is 192.168.1.3.
    I really don't know what 208.69.32.130 is.

    2. How do you connect P1102w to your PC? I suggest that you use USB connection to test
    3. If you connect it via wireless, could you double check whether the router working fine?
    4. Please make sure the printer is power on and connected to the PC successfully, otherwise "offline" is the accurate status for it.
