Windows 8 Pro, can't install

Hi,
We bought a new laptop, Asus N750JV, Which has a Windows 8 Home. We do have a pro license to install on it.
I took the DVD, installed and it didn't asked the key. After installation, windows is getting activated as a Home, can't get rid of it, I just can't get my pro key working.
Anyone already had this issue? I do think it's related to the BIOS, which have a home product ID I guess...
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
Have you tried these command to uninstall and reinstall the right key?
slmgr.vbs /upk
slmgr.vbs -ipk YOUR-ACTIVATION-KEY-HERE
slmgr.vbs -ato
As I known, during clean installation of Windows 8 pro, we need to enter the product key.
What kind of Windows 8 pro did you try to install on your Windows 8 PC? Is this just a pro package? or full version?

I have 32 bit itunes on a 64 bit Windows. Can't install 64 bit itunes because the 32 bit willl not uninstall.

    Excellent news.
That one can sometimes hit people if they've used the PC Mover utility to transfer a 32-bit iTunes program onto a 64-bit system. Similar issues can arise if a 32-bit Bonjour or 32-bit AMDS get transfered across to a 64-bit system by PC Mover, so it might pay to keep a weather eye out for that (if you've used PC Mover).

I bought Adobe creative suite 6 ( Student Edition ) for Windows? Can I install the programs on Mac as well?

Licenses are platform specific, so the Windows version will only work on the Mac if the Mac has Windows emulation software installed.  The other option would be to trade your Windows version for a Mac version, but then you lose the use of it on the Windows machine.

  • I have Microsoft Office 2011 Student Edition installed on MacBook Pro; Can I install Microsoft Office Windows 2008 onto Mac without deleting Microsoft Office 2011?

I have previously installed Microsoft Office Student Edition 2011 on my MacBook Pro.  While installing Microsoft Office 2008 Windows; message prompts to delete Microsoft Office 2011.  Is there a way around this issue?

Office 2008 was a Mac version. The equvalent Win version is 2007. So there is no "Office 2008 Windows." Which version are your trying to install?
Are you using Boot Camp to run Win on your MBP and want to install Office for Win there? I can't see that being a problem..
I do know that the regular version of Office Mac won't run properly if the trial version is present. The installer is set up to look for other versions, resumably to keep the trial version and the regualr from clashing.
Office Mac 2011 is equiv to Office for Win 2010

  • I downloaded the acrobat 9 pro series of updates. Get an error message saying that windows installer can't install.  Missing or wrong program.

Here is the exact error message:
The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program.  Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.
It is Acrobat 9 Pro that is installed and the upgrade file is: AcroProExUpd910_all_incr and/or AcrobatUpd911_all_incr.
    Help!

the 2nd file can only be installed on acrobat 9.1.0 pro extended.
what version do you have (click help>about)?
and what link did you use to get AcroProExUpd910_all_incr?

or do I have to buy a second one for this purpose?

Standalone licenses are platform specific. You can only install it on Mac or PC, but not both. you will need a second license if that is what you plan on doing.

  • Replacing macbook with pro, can I install FCP again?

I'm on the verge of buying a new Macbook Pro to replace my dying Macbook, but need to know if I'll have to buy a new copy of Final Cut as well. The included documentation states that Final Cut Studio 2 can be installed on 1 laptop and 1 desktop, and I understand that one serial can't be used twice simultaneously on the same network, but is it not possible to install it for a second time on a new laptop instead? I'm not trying to trick the software or anything, it just seems ridiculous that I would have to buy a whole new copy of an incredibly expensive package just because my computer needs to be replaced. Everywhere I look people reiterate the "1 laptop and 1 desktop" allowance in the terms of agreement, but I can't tell if that's semantic or if the software actually determines what kind of computer it's being used on and communicates with a database.
Thanks for any advice! Having to re-purchase the whole studio would be both infuriating and financially debilitating.

If you are getting rid of your old macbook, then why would you not be able to install on a new one, as long as you delete it from you old macbook if you re-sell it.
I'd be more worried about compatibility... Will FCP Studio 2 be compatible with a new Mac Book, I'm not sure... From a quick search I did, it seems to crash with Snow Leopard...
You may need to purchase an upgrade. And should you purchase an upgrade, don't install the old version first, just have the serial # ready.

  • Help on installing Lightroom 5 on two computers... I have used it on a PC, but now I have bought a MacBook Pro, can I install it with the same license? If not, can I delete it on the PC and use it on Mac instead??

    Hi all,
I just read, that you can't install lightroom 5 on the same license on two different platforms because of different services provided.
Is it possible to delete the PC-version and continue solely with the MacVersion!?
kind regards, and thanks in advance
    Andreas

Unless things have changed your Lightroom purchase can be used on two PC's, 2 Macs, or one of each.  You just need to download the Mac version and install it on the Mac.  You should not have to do anything with the PC installation.

  • G510 and Windows 7 - can't install driver

    Hi!
I have a problem with driver installation on my G510 notebook with Windows 7. I've installed all drivers, and only two had left: "Unknown Device" and "PCI Simple Communications Device". After installing the Intel Power Management Engine, the "Unknown Device" had disappear (installed successfull), but second one is still not installed. VendorID (8086) and DeviceID (8C3A) suggests, that this is Intel Power Management, but this driver is allready installed.
I tried to install different versions of this driver (even for Win8), but nothing changed. Google says nothing on my problem.  What else can I do? What am I missing?
    Regards.

Downloaded the file directly from Intel. Works fine now.
Too bad, that Lenovo can't provide proper drivers (Win7 x64) for their notebook. I've noticed several driver problems:
    - Intel Graphic Card driver, can't recognize the device (had to download directly from Intel),
    - AMD Graphic Card driver installs ok, but system shows error in Device Manager (had to download directly from AMD),
    - WLAN driver setup finishes ok, but the driver is still not installed (had to download driver for diffrent notebook model),
    - Power Management driver can't install all used devices (had to download directly from Intel).

  • Yoga 2 Pro Can't install windows Updates

I love everything about my yoga2 pro, except, when I got it I installed a win 8.1 upgrade because windows told me to. everything seemed to be fine.
after that, the system asked me to install another upgrade. when trying to install that one it said it could not install and was undoing the changes. I read some forums awhile back and it talked about a particular update that needed to be uninstalled before you could proceed. I tried to do that, but it wouldn't let me uninstall the initial 8.1 that i installed.
i kinda let it go because it was asking me like every month or so to automatically shut me down and iinstall updates. But now it forces me to install updates every two days and then can't update so, it undoes it changes and it takes like 30-45 minutes or so. Plus, i do need to get it to be able to accept the updates at some point.
I'm thinking I have to wipe everything and start from scratch??
What should I do? And I'm certain that I didn't provide enough info to get assistance. What other info do you need to know to help me out.
    Thanks,
    Mike

This sounds more like a generic Windows issue than a specific one for the Y2P. That being said have you tried the Windows Update troubleshooting tool?
    http://support2.microsoft.com/gp/windows-update-issues/en-gb
If that doesn't find anything then you can reset windows update per the following (there is a "fixit" for windows 8.1)

  • Ideapad A720 Windows 8 Pro can't install the bluetooth driver

I upgraded to Windows 8 than went to the Lenovo site and down loaded a few of the drivers that it needs (primarily the NVIDIA video driver), however Windows 8 forced me to uninstall the Bluetooth driver before doing the upgrade.
Downloading the Bluetooth A720 Windows 8 driver from the support site doesn't seem to work.  You run the install, it unpacks than dies and does run.  trying to force the setup to run from the driver folder throws an error saying I am missing the blue tooth license.
Any guess here?  everything else seems to be work on Windows 8 great, multi-touch 27" is gorgeous just opening bing.com is a cool experience.

  • M-Tron Pro can't install in Snow Leopard

    Thank you for reading this.
I now have Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and even with 10.6.0, the only software that doesn't install is my mellotron. The M-Tron Pro is the latest (if that is possible in a 70s way) version. The not very fab alert states, This installer requires admin privileges to run. It also states in another window that there is a GFUI Error, and the File Not Found. I can't find what a GFUI is, despite searching the World Wide Web, as far as Strawberry Fields! I've unlocked everything in the Get Info window, I am the only user and administrator and there is nothing on the G-Force web site that offers a solution to this problem. Their site forum is rarely accessed by the diminishing number of mellotron users. I know it is an issue with Snow Leopard and M-Tron, but I thought I'd check here to see if any prog poppers have a prognosis.

I opened the Show Package Contents of the M-Tron Pro installer. Inside Contents/Resources/Installer Items, I simply copied the items to the same folders they occupy in Leopard. I dragged my Leopard hard drive alias to my Snow Leopard Dock, and could quickly identify what went where while still in Snow Leopard. That got the standalone M-tron Pro working with my USB keyboard. I needed to restart the computer for the M-Tron Pro plug-in in Logic to work. However, it's a fine Sunday morning here in Yokohama. I mailed GForce and gave them the details of my dilemma, so they have the information as well. Thanks you xsubs, and Bobbi for your input. We are back to three mellotron users in the new millennium!

  • Windows 7 can I install on Mac OS X 10.6.6.

Can I successfully install Windows 7 on my Mac OS X 10.6.6?   I have had some very conflicting advise about whether this works or not.  Some say it will slow my Mac down considerably.   I need Windows 7 to run a Home Based computor program I have purchased.

Of course you can, either via Bootcamp on a separate partition, or within OS X via software like Parallels which creates a VM.
Bootcamp is just like running native Windows which is useful for games, but for less demanding programs, Parallels works very well.

  • 2009 mac pro can't install any new os's - tried multiple drives

Ok guys here's where i'm at.
    I was running a 2009 mac pro with 10.6.8
I downloaded and ran mavericks but after it restarted it just hung on the no entry sign over night.
So i did a restore and that worked.
I repaired permissions, and tried via a usb thumb drive no luck.
I restarted using my partners osx 10.6 mbp dvd and erased my mac pro drive and reformatted making sure it was guid partitioned and journaled etc.
    Still no luck.
Even stranger when i try to install from external usb drive the installer doesnt see the hdd but if i use the dvd it says it cannot install but does see the hdd and lets me do a restore.
So at this point im sure some of you will be saying the hdd is dead.
But on each restore it was fine.
    AND
so then i bought a samsung evo 840 and stuck that in using an icey box and just thought i'd install mavericks then copy over some files etc from my back up.
BUT i get the same issue. The usb installer cannot see the new ssd, but if boot from the dvd i can see it and restore the time machine backup to it.
    Any suggestions at all?
    Thanks

I know there have been some similar reports or stories about installing OS X.
At one time 2009 4,1 had trouble with Mountain Lion also.
Some models had trouble due to a user installed Apple wifi / bluetooth module.
Sometimes NVRAM is to blame and an SMC Reset AND zap PRAM/NVRAM (from cold boots).
This is a good tutorial, updated, while there are various other How To's around since Lion that are all basic same steps.
How to make your own bootable OS X 10.9 Mavericks USB install drive

it’s possible to create a local USB installer for Mavericks. The bad news is that it wasn’t as simple as it was before—Apple has changed the way the installer works, and making an install disk manually is more difficult than it used to be. Before we get started, here’s what you’ll need:
An 8GB or larger USB flash drive, or an 8GB or larger partition on some other kind of external drive
The OS X 10.9 Mavericks installer from the Mac App Store in your Applications folder. The installer will delete itself when you install the operating system, but it can be re-downloaded if necessary.
The latest beta of the Lion Diskmaker app, available here (as of this writing, version 3 beta 3 is the most recent). This app is free to download, but the creator accepts donations if you want to support his efforts.
An administrator account on the Mac you're using to create the disk.
    The easy way
Lion Diskmaker remains the easiest, most user-friendly way to get this done.
