Windows 8 Quick Solutions

Windows 8 was released on October 26th for all to enjoy! Check out the below Frequently Asked Questions for more information and quick troubleshooting.
1. I've just upgraded to Windows 8 but I'm having a few problems. What's going on?
When upgrading to the latest system Microsoft has done their due diligence to ensure that most hardware components will be compatible; but with all of the thousands of variables out there, it's next to impossible to predict which configurations will have issues. Find your Computer Manufacturer on the list below and check for the latest Windows 8 updates to resolve most issues.
HP Windows 8 Upgrade Information  -  HP's guide to making sure your Windows 8 goes smoothly.
HP Support & Drivers  -  Enter your model number to find the latest software and support for your upgrade to Windows 8.
Dell Support  -  Enter your service tag number located generally on the top for desktops and on the bottom for laptops. If you can't locate it, don't sweat, just use the option to "Automatically detect my Service Tag for me" and Dell will attempt to get your information from there.
Acer Windows 8 Upgrade Offer  -  For Acer computers purchased between June 2nd 2012 & January 31st 2013.
Acer  -  Use the list to determine if your model made before June 2nd 2012 requires various updates to get you up and running on Windows 8.
Gateway Windows 8 Upgrade Offer  -  For Gateway computers purchased between June 2nd 2012 & January 31st 2013.
Gateway  -  Use the list to determine if your model made before June 2nd 2012 requires various updates to get you up and running on Windows 8.
eMachines Windows 8 Upgrade Offer  -  For eMachine computers purchased between June 2nd 2012 and January 31st 2013.
eMachines  -  Use the list to determine if your model made before June 2nd 2012 requires various updates to get you up and running on Windows 8.
Samsung  -  Follow this link and check for a compatible model in order to upgrade to Windows 8. If compatible, use the website for up to date drivers and software.
Sony  -  Scroll down and follow the instructions to see if your computer is supported for Windows 8. If compatible, use the website for up to date drivers and software.
Lenovo  -  Choose your product for available driver downloads for Windows 8.
Asus  -  Select either Notebooks & Eee PC's, All-in-one PC's, Tablets, or Desktops & EeeBox PC's. Use this list to determine if your model is compatible with Windows 8.
2. I've lost the internet after upgrading to Windows 8 using an AMD processor. How can I get my internet back up and running?
Losing the internet is akin to losing the keys to your Porsche. You have all that power but can't go anywhere. The most common reason for this is missing the necessary drivers needed to run your Wired or Wireless Internet card. Follow the links above to check with your computer's manufacturer for the latest updates. They will be listed typically under Networking and labeled as "LAN" for wired connections and "WLAN" for wireless ones.
If after updating you still cannot access the internet, it's possible your card may not be supported. Check in with your local Best Buy to speak with a Geek Squad Agent about the best solution possible.
3. My screen got smaller after an upgrade to Windows 8 and I'm using an AMD video card. How can I fix it?
The first step to getting back out that glorious visual real estate is to check for the latest updates on your video card. You can do so by following the links below.
AMD Video Card Updates Windows 32 Bit
AMD Video Card Updates Windows 64 Bit
Not sure if your using a 32-Bit or 64-Bit system? Press the Windows Key (Between Ctrl & Alt at the bottom of your keyboard) and the R-Key (Between E & T) to bring up the run menu. Then type "MSinfo32.exe" without quotes and press enter. A new window will come up called System Information. Under System Type on the right you will see either on of the following:
x86-based PC        (You have a 32-Bit version)
x64-based PC        (You have a 64-Bit version)
Updating the software should allow you to see more information on the screen. If it doesn't work, you will need to increase your screen resolution. You can do this by following these steps:
Press the Windows Key & R key at the same time. Then type "desk.cpl" without quotes and press enter. The Screen Resolution will show up. Navigate to the Resolution and move the slider all the way to the top from 800 x600 (You may have a different number at the bottom than 800 x 600). Once done, click Apply. DO NOT click Ok first for any reason. After a few seconds, your screen will adjust and ask you if it looks ok. If it does, click on yes. If it doesn't, move the slider to a lower position and press Apply again to repeat.
Once everything looks alright (and only then) press the ok button to save the changes. If it's still not looking right, contact Microsoft, the Manufacturer, or Geek Squad for additional troubleshooting.
 4. When trying to upgrade or install Windows 8 I'm receiving an error code that states "HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED". What's going on?
Don't panic, you're not reliving 2001: A Space Odyssey. The reason you are encountering this error is because one or more of your components inside the PC may not be compatible with Windows 8, so to prevent any possible harm Windows 8 is stopping the installation. Click here to download the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant directly from Microsoft to check your computer to make sure it can be upgraded.
If the upgrade assistant informs you that you can't upgrade, there is an option that you can try to attempt to get past this. You will need to update your Motherboard's BIOS with the latest firmware. You can find the links to do so in the first section. If you don't know how to upgrade your BIOS, the best option is to have one of our Geek Squad Agents take a look at your system to see what can be done to get you upgraded.
 5. How can I take advantage of the Windows 8 upgrade offer for $14.99?
If you purchased a computer between June 2nd 2012 & January 31st, 2012 you may be eligible to receive Windows 8 upgrade for $14.99. For more information, click on this link.
 6. I can't seem to find the control panel or the option to shut down. Where are these located?
With the introduction of the new Windows Metro Desktop comes an easier way to access some of most commonly used features. The first thing you want to do is access the Charms bar. You can do this in one of two ways.
With a mouse: Move your mouse to the top right corner of the screen, then move it down.
With a Touchscreen: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen.
Once there, you're given the options of Search, Share, Start, Devices, and Settings. Choose Settings and a new list consisting of Desktop, Control Panel, Personalization, PC Info, and Help will appear. You can access the control panel to effortlessly change around system settings. Also, underneath the PC info and Help, there's the Power button. From there, you can shut the computer off, put it to sleep, or set it to hibernate.
7. How do I navigate through all of my Windows 8 applications?
With Windows 8 it's never been more simple to find any application or file. First, go to the Charms Bar (as outlined in section 7 above) and click on Search. Once there, you will see a listing in alphabetical order of all of your installed applications. Just click on any one of them to get them started. You can also use the Search by typing the name of what you are looking for, and Windows will attempt to instantly find it.
 8. What can I do to make sure my application or hardware device will work with Windows 8?
Most of your programs and hardware from Windows 7 will run just fine when installed on Windows 8. To check to see if you application or hardware is compatible, follow the link below and type in the program's or hardware's name to see if it should work after upgrading.

Hi @Ray_831
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I am happy to help you with your sound problems. It seems like the problem is localized to your internal speakers, as the output audio does work. It could be a problem with a physical connection, and I would like to send you the service and maintenance guide, but I will need the full product number to find the correct one for you.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
From what you wrote it looks like you have already done most of the common fixes, but you can look at these, just in case something was missed.
No Sound from Speakers (Windows 8)
From Microsoft's support website:
Automatically diagnose and fix Windows audio playback problems
If none of those helped, then you can either post the model number so I can get you the maintenance manual, or you can try calling into the technical support line at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

    Hello anetsa
It sounds like you have restrictions setup on your Apple TV. If you do not know your passcode to unlock it, then you will need to restore your Apple TV. Check out the articles below for more information about Restrictions as well as restoring your Apple TV.

I am unable to read signatures on PDF files sent from my Los Angeles office - they use windows, any solution?

    Hey guys,
So this is follow up from my debarkle with the EDD. I found out my problem with copying files from Mac to EDD and vice versa was a result of a not so good EDD ( i had an apollo hard drive from imation) that was not very compatible with macs. So i did my research and found out that the best hard drives were Western Digital and Seagate. I bought the newest western digital EDD 1TB and formated it to FAT32 and guess what...no problems so far. The only problem is that FAT32 format doesn't copy files larger than about 4 gigs so i couldnt copy a movie from my brothers computer onto my EDD that was 1080p. You could probably resolve that by partitioning a small part of your hard drive in ExFAT? but yeah, hopefully that helped guys.

Updated itunes - windows quickly shuts it down and says something about "Data Execution Prevention". I followed the instrucxtions to a dead end. I have re downloaded it twice and used the repair files once but get the same result. It worked fine before I updated it to death.

Try updating your QuickTime to the most recent version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes?

Ok, fair enough.  But since Job's death - Apple's control on leaks has been terrible.  I got the new iPhone, and I like it - but it hasn't made nearly as big as an impression as previous ones.  Because of the vast ammount of leaks.  With the iPad mini leaks, it's 99% sure to come out next week.
Apple uses many manufacturers and it's massive also websites prefer to report on Apple whether true or false because it brings more hits.
Amd by "others" I meant other people on iPads - not other devices/manufacturers.  It's possible to do so, I just want to know how.  I honestly don't think we'll ever be in a Post-PC era until all tablets allow us to use USB in the way computers do.
No, USB is not the future, you missed the memo about cloud and wireless computing?

  • Quick Solution - Satellite A2XX Windows XP drivers (AMD Based)

    Hey there,
for me owning a Satellite A210 Im in the need to get WinXP working on it for business purposes. So I worked the last 2 days on collecting all the drivers needed to run the Notebook with WinXP SP2 OS. As I read that many people in here are looking for solutions to get WinXP running, Im going to share my founds with you ;-) The only thing NOT working under WinXP is the "F-Keys" so you cant adjust the display brigthness (its permanently at about 70%), this will never be fixable until Toshiba releases official WinXP drivers for our Notebooks.
Download and Install them at your own risk, if you dont trust in it dont download its as simple as that.
    Included in the Package:
    - Agere 56k Modem Drivers (Toshiba Softmodem)
    - AMD AGP Filter
    - AMD DualCore Optimizer
    - AMD Processor Driver (Turion64 X2)
    - Atheros AR500X Wifi Drivers (need to be installed manually!)
    - ATI Radeon X1200 Drivers (need to be installed manually!)
    - ATI SB600 Drivers (Southbridge)
    - ATI SM Bus Drivers
    - Microsoft UUA HD Audio
    - Realtek HD Audio Drivers
    - Realtek PCIe Ethernet drivers (2 Versions, for A215 and A210 based notebooks)
    - TexasInstruments Cardreader Drivers (can be obtained via WindowsUpdate too!)
    - ALPS Touchpad drivers (the ones with the "scrolling function")
    Download:
    *.rar File, 80,7MB, Rapidshare.com
    http://rapidshare.com/files/58403898/Toshiba_Sat_A2XX-_XP_Drivers.rar
With this package you can get everything to work, no orange ??? in Device Manager anymore, and performance is OK.
For a better solution well have to wait until Toshiba releases official Drivers.
I provide no support, so if you are unable to install drivers manually youll have to wait for an official Solution.
To Install the Graphics Card drivers, go to your device manager, select the graphics adapter, MANUALLY choose what to install, select "Disk", wait for the list of the adapters to load, scroll down and select Radeon X1200, click ok, confirm the upcoming warning ("Are you sure to install this drivers blabla") with "yes", restart and your graphics card should work fine. These drivers are based on the Catalyst 7.9.
Have Fun with your A2XX running XP ;) And lets all hope toshiba will soon release official XP Drivers for our Notebooks.

Thanks Benedict for this info and your driver collection.
As you said, everyone can install these drivers at the own risk.
For other XP drivers we will have to wait
    Thanks again... best regards

  • ITunes 10.5 64 bit wont install on windows 7- solutions?

I had no problem in the past, until when it asked me to upgrade to iOS5, but every time I tried to install it an error would occur. So, I deleted iTunes and tred to re-install it... And I kept on recieving an error message (picture attached)
Searched the internet for solutions and found none- tried to install earlier version of iTunes but it kept saying 'The file 'iTunes Library.itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes'
I have iOS5 on my iPod because I used another computer to install it, so I don't think sticking to an earlier version of iTunes is an option for me...
Has anyone else experienced this? Can anyone help?
It's been like this since the iOS5 update first came out, and to be honest I am sick of not having an iTunes to sync my iPod to.
    Thank you.

Thanks to NCPlater, here is the solution that worked for me:

After following instructions for three different solutions that did NOT work; I found the solution that did work
on the support site for Syamntec.
Readers - Please, you must be VERY familiar with pc jargon and windows vernacular to accomplish the reset
of ALL the permissions in your registry.
Follow the ditrections below and pay attention to the notes for those running 64bit Win7.
Step one, back up the registry.
Step two, go to the MS KB:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4a91-93cf -ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en and download the file that installs subinacl. It is an MSI file, and will do a quick install of a few Microsoft files.  Hint: Look in the folder listed below, "subinacle.exe" may already be there.
Step three, create a batch file (subinacle.bat) with the following commands:  (Use Notepad - copy & paste, not the red stuff)
cd /d "Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (only for 32bit/x86 machines)
    subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
    subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
    subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
    subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
    subinacl /subdirectories %windir%\*.* /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
    secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose For 64bit machines substitute for first line of bat file:                    cd /d "c:\program files (x86)\windows resource kits\tools"
Step four, run the batch file. Let it run until the Command Prompt screen closes, may take 30 minutes or more.
Step five, reboot the machine and run the install again.

  • I have a small window quickly popping up and disappearing in the top left corner of my screen?

I apologize in advance if this has been covered elsewhere, but I have been searching and haven't found anything yet. And thank you for any help you can offer, it is greatly appreciated.
Every 15 seconds or so a small, empty window will pop up in the top left corner of my screen and then vanish instantly. It opens and closes in a blink, so quickly that I am not able to interact with the window in any way. However, it shows up momentarily as a firefox tab on my bottom panel, so I know it is a firefox problem.
It is only an issue because whenever it pops up I am exited from fullscreen if I am watching a video online, and anything that I am typing while the window pops up will be ignored.
I am currently running Linux Mint Olivia 15 Cinnamon. However, I had the exact same problem when I was running Windows 8. In both cases, firefox has been installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled, which does not fix anything. I have updated firefox since it started happening, which also did not fix anything.
It was very tricky, but I did manage to get a screenshot of the box while it was open.
The same question was asked here, but never resolved: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/953373

Does this only happen on specific pages?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

You can try to disable notifications as a test (you may want to reverse this).
You can try to set the dom.webnotifications.enabled pref to false on the <b>about:config</b> page.

  • HP Photosmart C410a drivers cannot be found by windows/HP solution center.

    Hi,
HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-All-in-One Printer - C410a
    Product Number: CQ521A
I updated my computers to Windows 7 64 bit and now my c410a is basically useless to both computers that have it installed.  I want to start this with my girlfriend's old 32 bit Windows XP laptop has had zero issues through this entire time. So the printer is in perfect working condition.
From looking at the support website, I noticed that there was an update that was supposed to fix this exact problem. I installed it on both computers and it did not fix the issue. After I install the drivers, they stay on the computer and work perfectly until I shut down the computer. When I turn it back on and try to use the printer, the printer does not appear in the printer list and when I click on the solution center it says:
"HP Solution Center cannot run because your device installation is not complete. Please plug in the USB cable or re-run the setup program from the installation CD for a network installation. If this does not complete the installation, or you do not have the CD, access the HP help files by clicking the Start menu."
So I downloaded the new full software pack (including drivers) from the HP website. When I ran it, it said all the drivers were installed and there should've have been issues so it didn't do anything.
I tried using all the diagnostic tools recommended by HP and they say nothing is wrong and everything should be working fine.
Has anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?
I tried contact HP but my printer is out of warranty. They won't support an issue that they already recognized as their problem and put out a patch for free.
Link to HP Patch  ((You might need to right click on the link))

    Hi,
Believe me I would not have wasted anyone's time on the forum unless I have tried that solution. I have tried the full feature and just the driver downloads many times, both do the same thing. Actually, whenever I want to use the printer I have to completely uninstall then reinstall everything, including the patch that is supposed to fix this, and then it will work perfectly until I turn off the computer. Then when turned back on, if I want to use the printer, I need to reinstall everything again.
Is there a better way to uninstall everything other than clicking on the uninstall button when opening the full feature driver?
I apologize for posting in several places. This topic fits into several categories and I just want to get a solution. I have been trying to solve this for myself for a while and I'm getting sick of it not working. Especially when the support website has a fix for this exact problem, but it’s not working.

  • Blank Screen in Message Window of Solution Manager SPS 13

    Hi Gurus,
We have SolMan SPS 13 and we have very strang Issue at the ABAP side : The Message Windows ( Most of them ) appears as just plain white Blank Screen i.e. there's a header in the message window but, no msg text as the entire window is pure white i.e. Totally Blank. So, the User ( in Client 000 ) can't read the Messages at all and can not decide which button to click in the Window ?
I checked on the SMP and have no mention of this weird issue - This seems Graphics Related Problem in Client 000.
Even the Solution_Manager and DSWP TCode also has entire screen as Blank ..can't use these TCode and Practically
    SolMan is Useless.
Also, Can we configure the SolMan for Local SLD in Production ( non 000) client ? Or 000 Client is MUST for this ?
Was / Is anybody in the Same boat ? Any Suggestions To solve this ?
Sincerely appreciate any / all input on these 2 Issues.
    Thanks,
    Best Regards,
    - Ishan

    No Problem ..!
About the SPRO Config > The issue is two fold :
#1 Client has done Config of  SolMan / Satellite Sysetms but have no documentation of  who did what ( and based on
which SAP Guide / Resources !!)
#2 Even the SPRO Screen has white out - Blank - screen when I go for Config for SolMan
( under the Window 'Preparation for the Configuration of SAP Solution Manager ) , I see again only white screen.
So, I believe unless and untill we run the SGEN ( once we have space for it !!! ) , then I can have this Blank Screen Err Solved and I can move on from there to Profile Parameter Check as well !!
    Thanks a Lot Again..

  • Mediasmart dvd 3.0 broken HDMI passthrough in windows 7; solution found

    Hello everyone,
I have a dv6-1253cl and was successfully bitstreaming 5.1 DD to my Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver from blu-rays in mediasmart dvd under vista home premium 64.  This did not work initially under vista.  This laptop has an ati mobility 4650 graphics card, but the default microsoft hd audio driver would not configure for surround sound or streaming dts or DD under "manage audio devices" in the control panel.  Installing the realtek ati hdmi driver fixed this problem.  I then followed hd1's instructions, setting mediasmart dvd's audio option to "hdmi passthrough"  before inserting the blu ray.  (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio/HDMI-sound-issue-from-newer-Blu-Ray-s/m-p/1...)
Unfortunately, when upgrading to windows 7, this stopped working.  mediasmart dvd 3.0E would only send 2-channel pcm to the receiver, or it would simply freeze and crash.  Reinstalling the sound card drivers did not fix the problem.
I have determined that this is a problem with mediasmart dvd 3.0 for windows 7.   I uninstalled 3.0, and reinstalled mediasmart dvd 2.2 for vista 64, and everything worked again!
So the major lesson is, if you upgraded to windows 7, use mediasmart 2.2 for vista if you want surround sound.
I'd appreciate any feedback if anybody else has had this problem, and if this solution works for anybody else.
    JoMP

    This answer is @ JoMP82
Everything on the laptop is configured correctly, it even shows that there are 7 channels of sound available on the Denon receiver or 5 if you like, it makes no difference. The only thing that has changed is the Media Smart software. I either have to revert back to the version that worked and not play Ice Age 3 or keep the old version and let SlySoft remove all the copy protection and region code; and then it will play. This is what I wrote on the CyberLink web forums :
After reading the hundreds of people having problems playing Blu-ray discs on their laptops, including myself, it was easier to cut my losses and give up. At present I am using Media Smart which is a cheap version of a CyberLink product and since the latest update I have no more surround sound in my home theatre. I only use my laptop to play region "B" blu-ray's. I rolled back to the previous version and it works fine. I also have Slysoft and that helps a lot in removing the region codes and all that frustrating protection crap !
So here's a revelation. Stop using your laptop's to play blu-ray movies. The cost of the Cyberlink software is a around 100.00 bucks. I just bought a cheap Sony player for that cost (BDPS360) and it plays everything. The cost alone for my time trouble shooting is already in the hundred's of dollars.
Did it ever occur to anybody that this is being done on purpose because the studios don't want people playing their precious blu-rays on laptop's because they are too easily copied on them. I have done it and as the cost of 50 gig discs fall it will make it more cost effective to do this.
It is also in Cyberlink's best interest not to find any solution to your problems when they can charge 30 dollars for useless phone support etc.
Why find a cure for cancer when the industry is making billions perpetuating the disease !
If you must watch a movie on your laptop just use a DVD. Most screens are only 15 inches big diagonally and a regular DVD will look just fine. The biggest is 18 inches and it still looks OK. And yes it pisses me off too that My blu-ray player in my laptop is so problematic, but I have had enough !! CyberLink, Hewlett Packard and the Hollywood studios can go to hell !!
This is harsh stuff, but after spending a little over 2700.00$ it should bloody well work and work properly !  It's incompetence, I am a very patient person, but things like this are intolerable.
Maybe one of the moderators will remove this. I will see what happens.

  • Remapping the Fn key in Windows   * a solution *

    Howdy,
If you own a Mac and you're running Windows via Boot Camp, it's likely that you've noticed that there are problems with the operation of the Fn key. Because the keyboard doesn't have a Delete key, it's extremely annoying that you can't use Fn+Backspace in order to get the Delete function.
As discussed in this thread it's possible to remap normal keys on your keyboard with a remapping tool like AutoHotKey. Unfortunately this application doesn't recognize the Fn key by default, so you're still stuck with other key combinations like Command+Backspace = Delete.
I don't use Boot Camp on my MacBook, but I do have a PC with Windows XP. I recently purchased an Apple Wireless Keyboard, which is basically identical to my MacBook keyboard. Using it in Windows is no problem, but the Fn and Eject key both don't work. So I suppose the problem is the same for users of Windows through Boot Camp.
First I used AutoHotKey to remap Command+Backspace to Delete. But I couldn't get over the fact that there were two keys that I couldn't use. So I kept looking for a solution, and finally found one. Using a DLL file for adding support for Human Interface Devices, written by one of the AHK forum members, I was able to get a response back from my Fn and Eject key. I wrote a script that let's you alter the behavior of the Fn key, so it will act as a modifier.
At this point my Fn key is fully functional, and I mapped all the basic OS X functions so they can be used in Windows. So whether I'm using Leopard on my MacBook or Windows on my PC, everything is the same. This means:
    Fn+Backspace = Delete
    Fn+F10 = Mute/Unmute
    Fn+F11 = Volume Down
    Fn+F12 = Volume Up
Eject key ejects my drive (without or with a delay just as in OS X)
    And so forth.
Because the Fn key question is a common problem for a lot of people, I decided to write a full guide explaining every step of the way in full detail. The guide can be found right here:
Mystery of the Fn key - A guide to remapping the Fn key in Windows
The DLL used to retrieve information from the Fn and Eject key has already been used for many other purposes, and made it possible to map a lot of different keys on many different keyboards and other devices like mice and remote controls. By doing so it has proven its worth, and I'm sure that you'll be able to get your Fn key and other special keys working just fine. Whether it's on your Mac using Boot Camp, on a PC with using a keyboard with special hotkeys or on a PC notebook. The guide is based on remapping my Apple Wireless Keyboard, so at least I'm sure that it'll work for Apple keyboards.
Feedback on my guide and script and whether you succeeded remapping your Fn and Eject key is much appreciated.
    Good luck!

Well I tried but none of the settings recognized Fn nor Eject on my MBP (penryn w/ OSX and Vista). I even ran through dozens of possible Usage/Page combinations. My other keys were recognized and so what my mouse/trackpad. But not Fn and Eject.
As you state in the write-up "If your key isn't recognized by one of the devices and their settings as listed in the application, it's unfortunately not likely that you'll get your key to work."
Thanks anyway. I really thought I found the answer in this thread...
    oh well.
