Windows App Certification Kit Test Fails, binary is built in debug mode

Hi,
Windows phone 8.1 App fails Windows App Certification Kit test (WACK Test).
It is producing below error in Debug configuration test,
The debug configuration test detected the following errors:
1)The binary Phone.Controls.dll is built in debug mode.
Impact if not fixed:  Windows Phone Store doesn’t allow a debug version of an app.
How to fix:  Please make sure the app isn't linking to any debug versions of a framework and it is built with the release configuration
And i got a solution like,
Universal Apps (And Silverlight 8.1 Apps) have a different certification requirement. You cannot publish assemblies built in debug mode.
You'll need to contact the NuGet authors of ICSharpCode and ImageTools and have them provide you with a version built in release mode.
How to proceed with this solution. I'm very help full if any solution provided.
Thanks and Regards,
Ranjit.

Hi Franklin,
Thanks for your replay. I created my package in 'Release' mode only.
Actually my project in windows phone 7.1 and i upgraded it to windows phone 8.1. In "Release" mode i created my build, but i'm having this error in WACK(Windows
App Certification Kit) test.
I'm able to run my App in windows phone 8.1, but if i submit it to store then will be rejected definitely.
The debug configuration test detected the following errors:
1)The binary Phone.Controls.dll is built in debug mode.
The WACK test fails in debug configuration test, for "Phone.Controls.dll "
it is built in debug mode.
There should be a solution like, how to convert .dll to release mode.
Please help me in this.
Thanks
Ranjit.

    Hi ranjit,
    >>Actually my project in windows phone 7.1 and i upgraded it to windows phone 8.1
Okay, this may be due to the upgrading process, could you tell us what the detailed version of your Visual Studio is(for example: Visual Studio 2013 Update 4)?
You may need to create a new Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight project and try to upload it to Store, if this problem can be resolved, I think this should be related to the upgrading process, you may need to start from scratch by recreating a WP8.1 SL project.
To exclude environment facts, I would also suggest you retesting it on a new machine with the latest IDE.

  • Windows App Certification Kit - Test Fails for Validate Desktop App at "Write appropriate Add/Remove Program values"

    Hi,
I am trying to validate a .Net Framework 4 WinForms application for use in the Microsoft Partner Network portal.
I am using Windows App Certification Kit 3.4 for Windows 8.1 , and the Validate Desktop App option.
To build the package I am using InstallShield 2012 SPR Limited Edition (for Visual Studio), and the validation fails
only with the following error (please also see the attached image):
Clean reversible install test: Failed to Write appropriate Add/Remove Program values
Error Found: The registry population test detected the following error: app didn't create the required registry entries.
A non-optional value 'DisplayName' is missing or invalid (same for 'Publisher', 'ProductVersion')
Please note that I have filled in all the publisher/product details in the InstallShield project, on the General Information page.
Also I have tried to use the Microsoft Visual Studio Installer Project for VS2013, and the validation failed with the exact same error.
Any help would be very appreciated.
    Thank you.

You may need to add the necessary info to the app’s Windows Installer package so it can configure Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel correctly. Setting these properties automatically writes the corresponding values into the registry. From the picture,
you are missing some necessary information about your desktop app.
Also You need the correct admin permissions to write to the registry.

  • Inconsistent results with Windows App Certification Kit

Hi, I asked about this issue before on a different forum but didn't get a response. Support pointed me towards this forum so I'm asking here as maybe the other forum wasn't the appropriate one. My company is attempting to renew our ms partnership, and we are
    trying to certify our desktop
app for windows 8. I have attached a screen shot below showing the registry entries that our app makes. When we try to test for certification (windows 8) we get the different (but similar) results on different systems using the exact same installation package.
Here is an example of the results we get:
    Results:
An optional value 'VersionMajor' is missing or invalid      for program Chiro8000.
An optional value 'VersionMinor' is missing or invalid      for program Chiro8000.
An optional value 'MajorVersion' is missing or invalid      for program Chiro8000.
An optional value 'MinorVersion' is missing or invalid      for program Chiro8000.
A non-optional value 'DisplayName' is missing or      invalid for program Chiro8000.
A non-optional value 'Publisher' is missing or invalid      for program Chiro8000.
A non-optional value 'ProductVersion' is missing or      invalid for program Chiro8000.
An optional value 'InstallLocation' is missing or      invalid for program Chiro8000.
Can anyone point us in the right direction?

How did you publish this package? Here are some similar questions, maybe caused by installer:

  • Windows App Certification Kit 3.4 error occurred while generating the report (the application will exit)

    Hi all,
I've encounter a pretty big issue while trying to check if everything with my windows phone 8.1 app is all right. After creating package (*.appx) I launched Windows App Certification Kit 3.4 to run it against all the test. Each time I try I get an error saying
"an error occurred while generating the report. the application will exit" and Certification tool just crushes
I looked online for some solutions but couldn't find any. Somebody knows what is going on and how to fix it ?

I ran the tool over our application and there was only one area in which it failed. However, all the files it mentions in the log are files that were created by the tool itself!

  • Windows App Certification Toolkit fails on Certification requirements for Windows desktop apps Point 5.5

Using the latest Version 3.4 of Windows App Certification Toolkit to check Windows 8.1 compatibility our Installer was not approved on:
Certification requirements for Windows desktop apps
5.5 Your app installer must create the correct registry entries to allow successful detection and uninstalls
But all necessary settings are done and after the installation of our application we will find all settings in the registry.
We use an MSI Installer embedded in a bootstrapper exe. The MSI Installer is made with the WiX Toolset V3.6.
The same Application Installer got approved on November, 2014.
We checked this issue against the latest version of MSThreatModelingToolkit installer which also was made with WiX toolset and it fails, too.
So is there a higher restriction or do we miss anything?

    Hi Wibudev,
I would suggest you to double check if you have miss something in registry, per documentation mentioned, the installation module must create the following registry entries during installation:
    DisplayName
    InstallLocation
    Publisher
    UninstallString
    VersionMajor or MajorVersion
    VersionMinor or MinorVersion
WACK 3.4 is the latest version, I don't think there would be any higher restriction but I will recommend you to test with another computer to see if the validate fails again. Sometimes the issue could be on the PC environment.

I am getting the following error:
    I went to
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=235160 as suggested, but could not find anything of 0x80070005.  I am wondering if anyone could shed some light on this.

Hi Hong - 0x80070005 literally means "Access Denied" on a resource.  You can run Process Monitor while running WACK and see which resource is throwing that code.

  • Application certification kit automation

    Dear sir\madam,
I am trying to automate windows application certification kit validation for desktop application by using the command line which is mentioned in the ACK whitepaper. Below is the commandline option I am using.
appcert test -apptype desktop -setuppath d:\cdrom\setup.exe  -reportoutputpath c:\Output\MyReport.xml
I am using silent installation\uninstallation to install\uninstall my product. However, my product requires a reboot to remove all the residual files . Please help me to generate the report after reboot? is there any commandline
option which I can use to do that?  Because, before reboot, the generated report will show certain deviations on the residual files(Certain temp files aren't deleted).

  • Failed Windows Store App certification - error 10.3.1 Unfortunately when we reviewed your app, it failed to launch every time. - No clue

I am trying to submit a Windows Store App (x64 for Windows 8.1 only), but it fails the certification procedure,  and I have no idea about what I am doing wrong.
    - The app passes successfully the local Windows App Certification Kit 3.4.
    - I have tried the app with the network cable out, and it works as expected.
    - I have used the same credentials to generate the appupload package and to submit it.
    - The app starts up and works as expected with a Surface Pro 3, a PC with development tools like Visual Studio; and another PC without anything extra installed.
    - The feedback provided by the certification testers is the following sentence: "10.3.1 App is testable: Unfortunately when we reviewed your app, it failed to launch every time."
    - Their attachment is a screenshot showing a fullscreen, flat color, rectangle.
    - There is no crash report of any kind.
    - The e-mail interaction with the certification guys seems to be quite a nonsensical conversation.
¿Any ideas that can help me to solve this problem?
Thank you very much for any hint you can provide.

  • Pavilion G6-1203ey: Hard Disk Test FAILED, but can still boot into Windows

    Hello
I have HP Pavilion G6-1203ey laptop. After installing Windows (7 ultimate, 64 bit) and some drivers on it and after several restarts, it hanged at Windows logo and I had to turn it off with power button. Then after turning it on, it gave me the option to repair problems which are preventing it from starting up, from there I let it to restore the computer to an earlier restore point and after a restart the Windows was working again. After that I decided to do a hard disk check just in case.
The Hard Disk Self Test ended up with a message: Hard Disk 1 Full (305). Then I installed HP Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Support Environment and did hard disk from there. I chose the comprehensive test from the options, but it finished fairly quickly (in ~1 minute) with the following output:
    Testing Drive: 1
Hard Disk SMART Check : PASSED
Hard Disk Short DST : FAILED
    FAILURE ID : PTTU22-5T774L-MFPV4K-60S003
    PRODUCT ID : A5Q15EA#B1R
    Hard Disk 1
    Hard Disk Test : FAILED
    A bit more background:
The previous owner told me that the original HDD was faulty which is why he replaced it with this one last year. He said that other than that there has been no problems with the laptop. The Windows is working right now and this HDD is quite new so I would not have expected any problems with it, but the results from the previously mentioned tests seem troubling. Is there a reason to worry?
    Thanks

I read your post and looked into the failure ID that you posted regarding the failed Short DST test. That error is indicating a hard disk failure meaning that if it hasn't failed it might soon. If everything is working I would considering backing up your data on a regular basis just to be safe. You could have a local technician take a look at the hard drive to see how close it is to full failure.

The same person set up all 4 networks for whats thats worth.

reports work fine on all the machines and never had an error. In fact, report is up in  CR viewer when user presses button to export. Error is  on the crrpt.export command
by the way, actually what happens when the cr.export is executed?  Maybe that may help me.

One issue that I noticed  is that when there are report parameters defined they need to be in the same   block as the export object setup.  I in fact do have parameters that are given their value from  a dataset.  This is done in the form that shows the crystal viewer, but they are not  in the same procedure  as the export creation and the dataset for the parameters  is not declared on the form level.  However, the report object is declared on the form level as is the datset with the report data, so any property added to it, should be visible throuout the form including where the export occurs.
However, this would not explain why the same situation works in another location and not just on the developer machine.  I also notice that the error message says it cannot find the xsd file, but it is in the proper location (other wise the report would not be viewable or printable)
How does the export work, does it create an entire new instance of the report?   perhaps knowing what goes on behind the scenes would help me figure out what to do.
