WLS 8.1SP2: CGIServlet: Failed to exec CGI script

Hi,
Added the revelant lins to web.xml as per the documentation.
Tested to ensure my CGI perl script runs on command line.
Pointed my browser to http://myserver:myport/myapp/cgi-bin/myscript.pl
and got the 500 Internal Server Error.
What's going on????
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,
I am receiving this same message when execution psdoccgi in the cgi-bin folder on Solaris. Did you resolve your issue and if so, do you have a solution for this?
Let me know.
Thanks,

    Hi,
    I am running WebLogic Server 5.1. I get the message - "cgi-bin: Failed
    to execute CGI script:reports" when I try to execute cgi-bin scripts

    I have setup the properties file as follows -
    weblogic.httpd.register.cgi-bin=weblogic.servlet.CGIServlet
    weblogic.httpd.initArgs.cgi-bin=\
    cgiDir=/export/home/webbi/NetTracker/cgi-bin
    and am trying to access cgi script as
    http://<host:port>/cgi-bin/reports/ntcgi.cgi
    Appreciate your help.

    Marta,
    Thanks for your reply. I followed your advice, it still complains
    cgi-bin: Failed to exec CGI script:ntcgi.cgi
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    I had the same problem. Try this:
    weblogic.httpd.initArgs.cgi-bin=\
    cgiDir=/export/home/webbi/NetTracker/cgi-bin/reports
    And access to the cgi script as
    http://<host:port>/cgi-bin/ntcgi.cgi
    Do not ask me why, but WebLogic do not admit directories after
    the cgi-bin directory at the URL. That is why he is trying to
    execute the cgi script "reports".
    Hope this help you.

    Shirley RemediosWe had the same problem and reduced the number of sockets in this state by reducing
    the time to wait before closing the sockets. On Solaris we set 'tcp_time_wait_interval'

    Could you check the following points ?
    1. make sure all the files you need are there
    2. make sure folder hierararchy is ok
    If that's cool: And its still doesnt work:
    Export your example ear from weblogic and use that one

  • Intermittent java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError WLS 8.1SP2 Solaris 5.8

    Hello.
    I have experienced an intermittent java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError following deployment as follows:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: /net/sf/hibernate/cfg/Configuration
    on Solaris 5.8 WLS 8.1SP2 for a web application whose WAR contains all of the required .jar files for Hibernate. The code involved uses a static initializer (following the thread local pattern shown in many Hibernate documentation sources) and has shown no issues to date in a Win2K environment.
    The issue persisted between several re-deployments and fresh server instances on a given day. Two days later the same WAR deployment was used and the error did not appear again.
    Has anyone experienced a similar behaviour in their deployment experiences ? Does anyone have any suggestions on avoiding the issue (e.g. something related to ClassLoaders) ?
    Regards,
    James.

    What would be the cause of the error, would it be related to the way I create the datasource and the table? Or other causes, please help. Thank you.
    Regards,
    Nicholas Lok

    It's difficult to tell solely by the messages. One there seems to be a problem finding a base class. One thing that I notice is that the package seems to contain 'book' with a lower case 'b' as in:
    EJB name: BookBean.EJB under LibraryEJBProject\book
    Whereas all the error messages are saying that they are having trouble finding something with a package name like 'Book' with a capital 'B'.
    Perhaps that is the problem, the package has to be consistently 'book' or 'Book' and can't be both.
    Hope I'm right and hope this helps.

  • Slow boot - com.apple.afpstat-qfa[271]) Job failed to exec

    Hi,
    I have a Macbook Pro Retina. All has been working fine since I first got the MBP, but now I have a 30 second delay in booting each time.
    Looking in the log I see this:
    16/08/2012 10:07:05.284 CalendarAgent[245]: Property list invalid for format: 100 (property lists cannot contain objects of type 'CFSet')
    16/08/2012 10:07:05.798 NetUpdate[91]: Launch background checker (Post reboot: 0)
    16/08/2012 10:07:25.244 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[170]: (com.apple.afpstat-qfa[271]) Job failed to exec(3). Setting up event to tell us when to try again: 2: No such file or directory
    16/08/2012 10:07:25.244 com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[170]: (com.apple.afpstat-qfa[271]) Job failed to exec(3) for weird reason: 2
    16/08/2012 10:07:26.317 appleprofilepolicyd[286]: appleprofilepolicyd: profiling drivers not loaded, loading
    Every time there is a delay in boot I see a gap in the boot sequence log just before the error message in red above.
    Does anyone have any idea a) what this is doing; and b) what might be causing the problem?
    I have tried repairing permissions etc. but that didn't solve it.
    Thanks
    Darren.

    I'm going to answer your question in more detail than you probably want, because it's somewhat important and I want to make a record.
    The job referenced by those log messages is started when a user logs in, and the per-user launchd(8) process loads the following file:
    /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.afpstat.plist
    The file instructs launchd to invoke an executable at the path /usr/local/bin/afpstat. Although the syntax is correct, the executable doesn't exist. Even the directory doesn't exist, by default. I've searched all the Apple installer receipts in ML, and none of them refers to that file.
    So what has happened here is that some extra pieces were inserted into ML during development, for debugging purposes no doubt. When the time came for release, the executable was removed, but the developer who removed it forgot to remove the corresponding launchd item. Every ML installation has it, and every one is being delayed during boot when it fails.
    The solution to this problem is to delete the file that the Apple developer forgot to delete. In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar, copy the text outlined above into the box that opens, and press return. A folder will open with the item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash, then empty. You'll be prompted for your login password.
    Edit: On my Macs, although the same error is logged, it doesn't seem to be causing a delay of more than one second, so deleting the bogus LaunchAgent may not have a noticeable effect.

  • Compiler failed executable.exec

    I'm using Weblogic 8, EJB 2.0, and Sybase for my project. I have a session bean and an entity bean which map to a table view in my database. When i tried to deploy the EJB, the following error messages appeared:
    Compiler failed executable.exec
    at weblogic.ejb20.ejbc.EJBCompiler.doCompile(EJBCompiler.java:274)
    Does anyone know the cause of the error??
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Joey

    I am also getting the same error and was wondering if you figured out what is going on.
    I suspect it has something to do with the classpath, but I am not sure what it is.
    A friend of mine also working on the same project does not seem to be affected and our
    setup is almost identical. The only difference being I am using XP pro and she is on W2K.
    It is driving me mad and any help would be greatly appriciated.
    Thanks,
    Hani

  • Installing Cocoon2 on WLS 6.1sp2 Solaris

    Hi all,
    I have been following the installation instructions on the cocoon site, but perhaps it is a bit dated (specifically for WLS 6.0) and so far I have not had any luck. I tried both the WAR file and expanding cocoon and neither method worked.
    Has anyone got Cocoon2 and WLS 6.1sp2 to work? My work environment is on Solaris but any points on Windows would be greatly appreciated also.
    Thanks in advance,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
    this is how I got Cocoon 2.0.4 running on WLS 6.1.4
    (Download the Cocoon source from http://xml.apache.org/cocoon/dist/)
    Remove all but the following JARs from lib/optional
    commons-jxpath-1.0.jar
    jing-20020724.jar
    resolver-20020130.jar
    servlet_2_2.jar
    commons-logging-1.0.jar
    jtidy-04aug2000r7-dev.jar
    rhino-1.5r3.jar
    xt-19991105.jar
    Update lib/jars.xml to reflect these changes
    build clean
    build webapp -Dinclude.webapp.libs=yes
    Copy the following JARs to a suitable lib-directory:
    xercesImpl-2.0.0.jar
    xml-apis.jar
    xalan-2.3.1.jar
    xt-19991105.jar:
    java/lib/tools.jar
    Deploy the resluting cocoon.war and you should have a Cocoon up and running that
    can do the XML->HTML Hello World sample. The status page works fine too.
    If you need a more competent Cocoon, try adding the required JARs on the class
    path (or add them the to your webapp-build if you are confident that WLS are capable
    of handling their manifests).
    Good luck
    /Peter

    Hi all, forgive me if this is not the right "Install" forum, but I am
    looking for
    some pointers/success stories in running Cocoon 2 with WLS 6.1 SP2 (Solaris
    preferably).
    I have followed the official installation instructions from Cocoon and
    searched
    the weblogic newsgroups, but none of them worked. Perhaps none of them
    were specifically
    about 6.1sp2.
    If anyone has any advice or pointers it would be greatly appreciated.

  • Failing to create temp file in Perl cgi script

    This used to work, perhaps before the Apache 2.4 upgrade?
    From the httpd error log:
    AH01215: Error in tempfile() using template /tmp/XXXXXXXXXX: Could not create temp file /tmp/4VmuZsw3Wt: No such file or directory at...
    Here's the offending code:
    #!/usr/bin/perl
    use strict;
    use warnings;
    use File::Temp;
    use CGI;
    my $q = new CGI();
    print $q->header();
    print "Hi mom\n";
    my( $foo, $bar ) = File::Temp::tempfile();
    print $foo "Test content\n";
    close( $foo );
    print "Hi dad\n";
    1;
    If invoked from the command-line, it works as intended. Tried as users me, root and http (the Apache user).
    If run as CGI script, I get this:
    Hi mom
    then it aborts with an HTTP 500, and emits the above message in the error log.
    Before anybody asks:
    drwxrwxrwt 7 root root 240 May 22 20:51 /tmp
    The Apache configuration has this, which /some/path/cgi contains my above script.
    ScriptAlias "/cgi" /some/path/cgi
    Baffled ...

    Restarting Apache fixed the issue. Ran out of file descriptors perhaps?
    The question is: will it happen again?

  • Servlet engine invoked FROM CGI script?

    Yes this is a backwards request, but I need a simple servlet engine that can be invoked through a CGI script. I perfectly realize the problems associated with this like session management, benefits in threading, etc not to mention the overhead of JVM startup on each request...
    Anything with which anyone's familiar? Searching returns (of course) how to invoke CGI from Servlet containers which is obviously not what I need.
    Thanks!

    Hi Michael,
    I am running 7.0 on Win NT while its the same case its displaying the whole content
    as it is setted the weblogic.servlet.CGIServlet in the web.xml file and providing
    the compiler for perl also .
    Looking for a quick reply
    Thanks
