Word, as in Microsoft Word? Visual Basic or some other Microsoft language would be your best bet for that.

  • How to embed an illustrator file into a word doc to make a template

I am trying to make a word template for my company's proposals that we send out to clients. I have created the image in illustrator as an 8.5x11 and saved it for 'web & mobile' use with the highest quality setting. I open the document in microsoft paint, copy everything, and then paste it into the header section of my word doc. I choose the option to bury behind text. My problem is that when I paste from paint into word, the document shrinks and is no longer 8.5x11. This requires me to stretch the image, but it pixelates it beyond what I can allow to be used. Is there an easier way to make a word doc template? I am using Illustrator cs4 and Microsoft 2007 (I know, its really really old).

  • Nd suggestion for importing Word doc into Pages template....

I have a rather lengthy Word file that I want to import into Pages using one of its templates (Travel Journal). Is there a way to import the Word file directly into this template?
I know you can import a Word doc into Pages but once you do that, you have to do the designing from scratch (or at least that what it looks like you have to do).
I like the Travel Journal template and wanted to use that for my Word doc. Any suggestions for getting my Word doc into this template, without having to cut and paste each section?
I like the template because of the varied page layout options and I don't want to have to recreate from scratch!

    Hello Debbie,
as I know there is no way to get what you want. I think you have to load the Word document into Pages and than you have to copy and paste all the text and media objects into the Pages template.

  • MS Word 2007 Problem: Could not Change Doc Template

I started getting an error when I open a rules document through OPM. The document usually opens ok, but OPM gives the error "Oracle Policy Modeling was unable to open the document as an error occurred with MicroSoft Word: Could not change document template.
Usually, I can work in the document with no problems, but sometimes when I do the compile of the document that got this message, the compile and save works, but then Word crashes. The compiled document is available through OPM, but it thinks the document needs to be compiled on a build. I've learned to continue without compiling, otherwise Word will crash again.
Other times, the document compiles just fine with no problems with Word.
Occasionally, Word loses the Add-ins list. I've figured out how to attach it again.
Everything was fine until about 2 weeks ago. The only difference I can think of is that Word did an automatic update. I uninstalled and reinstalled OPM, but it hasn't made a difference.
I'm running OPM 10.1.0.27 on XT.
    Any ideas? Thanks,
    Terry

    Hi Terry,
    Try the following workaround:
    1) Rename the word 2003 template (Policy Modeling Word Template) in c:\program files\oracle modeling\templates to another filename
    - This is to force Word 2007 not to load the Word 2003 template
    2) Open the Word document from Policy Modeling
    - To load the Word 2007 template and attached it to the document
    3) Save the document
(Thanks to Red Canda for this.)

  • Pages '09 to Word doc, maintaining graphics in 'letterhead'.

I have Pages '09 (version 4.2) and when I place 'letterhead' graphics into the Pages document and then save as a Word doc for clients to use as letterheads (to print as needed), the graphics in the Word doc come out in low res.  I have tried saving the Pages document several ways, but they all come out low-res in Word.  I need to be able to provide my non-graphic clients with a Word template of their newly designed letterhead.  Help please!

    Just a word of warning
Depending on the version, MsWord may not play nice with .pdfs, something Microsft deliberately did to keep PC users away from a competing file format.
If that happens try using a high resolution .tif file which is a more established Windows method.

  • MS Word integration with SAP CRM: can a PDF be created from the MS Word doc

    21/11
    Gurus,
I know have a better understanding of the topic but still have 2 open questions.
I now know that StreamServe cannot read .DOC files but can read and work with .PDF files.
Since we are in a SAP forum and not a StreamServe forum,
1/ I am wondering if SAP CRM 2007 can convert the MS Word generated and populated documents into .PDF. Possibly immediatly.
2/ Can the MS Word generated and populated documents be saved by SAP CRM 2007 as .XML files?
    Thanks again.
    Dear All,
On my project, there is a requirement to generate ad-hoc and amendable letters in CRM (2007).
We might have +150 letters so I am thinking about using MS Word integration with SAP CRM to deliver this.
With SAP CRM 2007, I understand that it is indeed possible to generate WebServices that will then be consumed by Word templates through the mail merge functionality. So agents will not have to enter BP name, address and so on. All this can be done by configuration which is great.
My point of concern is how to integrate this design to StreamServe for printing purpose (we do not want to go into local printing)
Can StreamServe collects the Word generated document?
Should this Word document be converted as PDF before or can StreamServe do it?
Should StreamServe exploits the XML contents within the Word generated document?
Thanks for your help and insights about this.

    Hi Chris,
Your advice helps me a lot, thank you.
I upload an XML-Format template Word Doc to server as a MIME Object.
When OfficeControl is started in Web Dynpro, OfficeControl automatically open the XML-Format template.
For the first time, I get the XString-type Context attribute bind to the content of the Word Doc,
then translate it to string, I got the XML-format content, it's great!
However, after the first time, when I input any new contents in MS Word in Web Dynpro,
no matter I execute "Ctrl + S" or click the "savedocument" button,
when I translate the XString Context attribute to String, I got messy code. (but the first time, it is good plain text)
I use the function module: ECATT_CONV_XSTRING_TO_STRING (good for first time, dump after first time),
SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY, SCMS_BINARY_TO_STRING (good for first time, messy code after first time).
My Demo source code is in: (system) SMV --> (local object) zhaode --> (Dynpro Component) ztest_office_control
       core source code is as:
       clear itab.
      CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY'
        EXPORTING
          BUFFER = lv_datas
        IMPORTING
          OUTPUT_LENGTH = lv_length
        TABLES
          binary_tab = itab.
      CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_BINARY_TO_STRING'
        EXPORTING
          input_length = lv_length
          mimetype = 'text/plain; charset=utf-8'
        IMPORTING
          text_buffer = lv_datas_string
          output_length = lv_data_len
        TABLES

Can you give me some advice?

  • Save word doc as pdf options

    Hi!
I'm saving a large word document (over 100 pages) as a PDF, using Word 2007 and Acrobat 9 Pro. Then, I am using Acrobat to do the final-stage accessibility edits.
There are a number of ways to save the file as a PDF, and I'm curious about what the differences are.
    1. I can save the word doc using the "Acrobat" ribbon- the button "Create PDF" and also play around with "Preferences" when doing so.
    2. I can go to the 'pizza box' and "Save As" and then hit "Adobe PDF."
(I'm pretty sure this is the same thing as 1)
When I do 1 or 2, the conversion takes a LONG time and usually freezes my computer. So I've been doing the following:
    3. "Save as" and then "PDF or XPS"- the button with the little document wearing a belt around its waist? Funny button.
Doing this converts my file to a PDF a lot quicker than 1 or 2. From what I can tell, it does a fine job- carries over alt text, tags, etc.
3a. Also- there's an option when I save this way to make the PDF "ISO 19005-1 compliant (PDF/A)" Does this mean anything?
    Questions:
    - what is the difference between these saving options? And why is 3 so much faster?!
    - which option is best creating accessible PDFs from Word documents (or are they all the same)?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    For #1 –
    This uses Adobe PDFMaker.
If "Enable Accessibility and Reflow with tagged Adobe PDF" is selected you'll create a Tagged output PDF from the Word file. How well-formed it is depends on how diligently built-in headings and styles were used.
    For #2 –
'pizza box' > "Save As" > "Adobe PDF" passes the Word file through Adobe Printer to Distiller to PDF.
No Tagged output PDF that way as the file is not being processed by Adobe PDFMaker which provides the tag management.
    For #3 –
'pizza box' > "Save As" (mouse hover, no click) > PDF or XPS (click)
In the 'Publish as PDF or XPS' dialog, click on the "Options..." button.
In the Options dialog, select "Document structure tags for accessibilty"
(don't forget to provide the Word file with meta data in its Document Properties and to select "Document Properties" in the Options dialog).
Give your output PDF Bookmarks by selecting the "Create bookmarks using" choice.
    Click OK.
Back in the  'Publish as PDF or XPS' dialog, confirm that "Standard (publishing online and printing)" is selected (the default).
If you want to view the PDF upon creation, select "Open file after publishing".
    Click the Publish button.
    Output PDF will be tagged.
Process has improved since its initial release.
On the whole, I still prefer to use PDFMaker; but, the Office 2007 routine is a viable alternative.
An end-user "win" due to Adobe's work with ISO to create the ISO Standard for PDF.
    #1 & #3 process time is a function of what you authored – short-simple, long-complex, adherence to a well-formed template and built-in headings/styles, willy-nilly, etc.
You would have to run a statistically valid sample of the same Word files through each to see which has a run-time you like AND provides a structure tree that requires minimal post-processing.
Although less post-processing may not be a 'good thing' if the few activities you have to do are gnarly.
    For #3a –
    PDF "ISO 19005-1 compliant (PDF/A)"
The ISO Standard for long term archival grade electronic files (PDF, of course <g>).
Asking the question indicates that you are most likely not in need of providing the content in Word to PDF/A.
    Questions
    – 'speed' of output that needs more post-processing with Acrobat Pro may not be a good thing.
    –  which is 'better' for tagged output PDF...
    That depends.
I prefer Adobe PDFMaker's output of <Table>, <Note>, its dealings with headings, its ability to appropriately nest elements, etc.
I'd do two or three of the same Word files each way.
Then post-process to assure the PDF structure tree is compliant with the requirements of ISO 32000-1.
If your PDF is ISO 32000-1"good" it is solid for accessibility/Section 508.
For each, walk the tree with 'Highlight' selected.
If checking with AT, use the most recent release. Old stuff (any of it from any software house) is not going to be able to properly "QC" something processed to current standards.
After this, throw the chicken bones to decide.
fwiw, I've found FrameMaker / Acrobat Pro to be a better tool set for tagged output of PDF and requisite post-processing.
    Be well...

  • Converting from PDF to Word doc: Text in Fields disappears. What to do?

There are 2 options I can think of:
    1. If they want to add commentary to a report book, Report Books can now contain MS Office documents, which can be included - they must be loaded onto the Workspace first. This is probably best for items like a quarterly management pack.
    2. If this is something the users wish to run over and over again, it's probably best to setup a MS Word document containing the reports in the book to be used with Smart View: You can export the current page of the current data object to Word, PowerPoint or Excel as an image. After insertion, you can re-query the corresponding Web application to refresh the image.
-> This creates a standard report template (in Word, Powerpoint or Excel), which can then be modified by the users to add commentary as required.
Check out the Exporting to Smart View for Office, Page 103 from the Workspace Users Guide (bpmui_user11.1.pdf) for more details: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/nav/portal_2.htm

  • Table data in html from word doc

I have a nice looking invoice word doc I would like to use to make a apex report. The word doc has a table with all the numeric data for the invoice, pretty simple. I saved the word doc as html and used a program to strip all the excess html. I put the html into a apex report as a html region and it looks perfect. What is the best way to get SQL data into the html table in the region.
Do I have to create a SQL region and then put the html data into the header and footer, am I missing something simple?
    Thanks

    794181,
I'd take the HTML and use it as the framework for a named column template. This will allow you to put the data from your query in to the exact spots it needs to go.
To make a named column template, go to shared components, templates, create, report; for "Template Type:", select "Named Column (row template)".
Named column templates are fairly easy to set up, but that also seems to mean that it's hard to find documentation for them. Basically, define your query, and then use #&lt;COLUMN_NAME&gt;# in your HTML, replacing &lt;COLUMN_NAME&gt; with the actual names of the columns from your query.
Oh, and generally, you won't want to set up a column heading template in your named column template--I almost always just fill in Row Template 1, Before Rows, and After Rows.

  • Working off of a word doc to IBA

Ok I'm trying to create an IBA from a word doc. The word doc is already layed out on pages and I'm now going page for page copying any text and images into Pages in IBooks Author. I forst notice when doing this manually that the font in the word doc is garamond, I have this font on my mac Pro and it shows up in IBA but as I preview each page I do off my IPad the font is not recognized. I had this similar problem with Keynote as some fonts do not display in IPad so first I need to know
Should I change the font to a font that is can be displayed in IPad so I do not have anything look wierd or just leave?
Last thing, I did read that I could iport entire word docs to IBA but after attempting this a few times using different templates the results are way off. Is there a way I can do the full import of the entire word doc off a blanl template in IBA and even if I could would that give me a better result?
Meanwhile Till I hear from someone I will continure to copy and paste each page from the word doc manually for now.
    anyone?
    RD

You are obligated to use only the fonts that are supported by iOS/iBooks/iPad.
The iOS supported list to choose from is the pull-down menu in the toolbar, not the main menu.
I think it's up to you to experiment with various templates and your content - you might find it easier to change the WORD document layout and style first, once you find a template that meets your needs.

I have created an 100 page booklet in Pages, with many photographs, and much written word, can I export it to ePub, and make an electronic book, because it says that "Note: The Pages document must have been created using a word processing template"?....
Basically what I want to do is publish the document into both an eDocument, and a hard copy document. What is the best way to do this?

No Peter, this statement came right off the Apple ePub statement when outlining how to use ePub. the full context is:

ePub is an open ebook standard produced by the International Digital Publishing Forum. Pages ’09 lets you export your documents in ePub format for reading with iBooks on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
iBooks supports both ePub and PDF file formats, and you can export both from Pages.
When to use ePub or PDF

Creating an ePub Document to Read in iBooks
You can export any Pages word processing document to the ePub file format for reading in an ePub reader, such as the iBooks application on the iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Documents created in page layout templates can’t be exported to the ePub format.
Documents exported to ePub format will look different than their Pages counterparts. If you want to get the best document fidelity between the Pages and ePub formats, style your Pages document with paragraph styles and other formatting attributes allowed in an ePub file. A sample document is provided on the Apple Support site that features styles and guidelines to help you create a Pages document that’s optimized for export to the ePub file format, which you can use as a template or a guide. To learn more about using paragraph styles in Pages, see the topics under the heading “Working with Styles” in the Pages built-in help.
To read your ePub document in iBooks on your mobile device, you must transfer the ePub file that you create onto your device.
To use the “ePub Best Practices” sample documentTo learn more about using the ePub format and get a better feel for how a Pages document might appear as a book in iBooks, it’s a good idea to download the “ePub Best Practices” sample document. After reading the guidelines and instructions within the document, you can use it as a template to create your own document. You can also import the styles from the sample document into a new document you create.
Download the “ePub Best Practices” sample document at the following web address:
    http://images.apple.com/support/pages/docs/ePub_Best_Practices_EN.zip
Do either of the following:Use the sample document as a template.Import the paragraph styles from the sample document into a new or existing Pages document.
Export the document you create to ePub format to see how it looks in iBooks.
Preparing an existing Pages document for export to ePub format
Documents exported to the ePub format automatically appear with page breaks before every chapter. A table of contents is automatically generated, which allows readers to jump quickly to any chapter title, heading, or subheading in the book. In order to create a meaningful table of contents, it’s important to apply appropriate styles within your document. The ePub reader uses the paragraph styles to determine which items should appear in the table of contents for your book.
Note: The Pages document must have been created using a word processing template.
