I'm trying to create an e.pub document from Pages. I notice that the Word docs in the templates have tabs that cannot be made bigger only smaller. Since this book is made of images I need to get the images a little bigger then the margins allow. I see if I go to the page layouts templates the margins are bigger but they do not allow export to e.pub. So, is there a way to make the margins bigger on word docs?
Can I create mt own doc that will have bigger margins and let me export to epub?

The only way to create an epub from pages is from a word processing document, not a page layout template. If you haven't seen it, there's more informatin about epub from pages and a sample template here:

When I tried to convert to Word with Export PDF, all the pages ended up on a single page, instead of a Word doc with the same number of pages. Word page layouts are fixed like PDFs. Just add page breaks as needed. But don't expect any kind of good result. If Word could do fancy layout, we wouldn't need Illustrator.

I cannot send a Pages document, Word format via email from my ipad if it has a picture in the the doc. I can send a Word doc if it does not have a pic in it or pdf with a pic. Any thoughs why a word doc with a pic in it won't email in Pages? thanks

I cannot send a Pages document, Word via email if the doc contains a picture. If I email a Pages doc without a pic in Word format or pdf with a pic it with go through to sender? Not sure why Pages won't send Word doc with a picture in it. I check the security on the email recipient and the email doesn't get blocked or throw in the junk box?

If you have upgraded to Mountain Lion, Save As… has returned to the File menu when you hold down the Option/alt key. But you don't really "save" as other file types, you translate & export as Word or RTF or text or PDF & that is easily done by going to File > Export or Share > Export.
Also, please do us all a favor & don't use all capitals in your posts, either the body of the post or the title. All caps is the internet equivalent of shouting & is very hard to read.

Pages 'doc' exports won't load in Word 2011

Help...
We work almost exclusively in Pages for text documents. When we need to send them to people using MS Word we export as a DOC format. Never had a problem until recently when we updated to Office 2011 (thanks to Lion not supporting Office 2004).
Now we find that some doc files exported from pages won't open in Word 2011 - but will open in NeoOffice, Word 2004 etc. What is odder still is that if you save the problem doc in NeoOffice / Word 2004 it will then open fine in Word 2011.
When we try to open a problem file we get a dialogue like this...
This suggests that something in the Pages file created by the export process is annoying Word 2011, but not Word 2004 etc.
Anyone got any ideas what this might be - the MS help for this dialogue is useless (assumes for a start you are using Word on a Windows machine...).

As you are saying that PDFMaker add-in is simply not loading in the add-in list of MS word.
Please exit all programs, open MS Word and go to File> Options> Add-Ins.
Now, in the 'Manage' label on the bottom, choose COM Add-Ins and click go.
Then, look for Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Add-In in the list.
If Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Add-In appears in the list but the checkbox beside it is not selected, then click the checkbox. Click OK. Then close and reopen the Office 2013 application.
If Adobe PDFMaker COM Add-In is not in the list of available add-ins, then click Add and choose PDFMOfficeAddin.dll from "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11\PDFMaker\Office". Click OK. Then close and reopen MS Word.

It's difficult to do more than guess when you don't say what version of OS X or Pages you're running, but if you're on the latest, have you tried the Share menu -> Send via Mail command?
If that doesn't help, you may have better luck if you ask in the Pages forum:

You can Duplicate the file then Save it as a .doc file.
In Mountain Lion (I don't think this is in Lion), you would click on File then press the Option key to get 'Save As'.

There are several good tools that allow you to access COM objects from Java. Here are two of the better ones:

If you have used any fancy Pages features, they will be lost in translation to Word. In that case, Export or Print to PDF and send the PDF.

Can't get rid of blank page at end of Word doc.

I have looked all over the web but suggestions that have helped others with this problem will not work for me! I have a 2-page document with columns, and then a 3rd blank page that I don't want. I am displaying non-printing characters and can see an extra para (page break?) starting on the blank page, but it won't delete. I have tried forward delete and highlighting it but it just pops back again. Infuriating!
Another strange thing that might be to do with it, is that an empty header and footer show on the blank page, and say 'Header-Section4-' even though the previous is section 2 and there are only 3 pages.
Any help massively appreciated!

Pages can make beautiful document which is very good. However,
1. The words that I type into a cell of a Table inside Pages cannot flow naturally onto the next page, it will disappear at the end and I am very frustrated. I need to create another Table on next page and continue my typing , it is a silly way and it is also hard to edit the document afterwards.
2. I cannot adjust the spacing into 1.5 between lines while typing in a Table, this is the format my University requested.
3. The words in a table just "stick" too close to the left and right side Borders.
4. Apple emphaseses the iWork can compomise with MS office. For pure words doc it is OK. But when there is a transition of a Chart or Table, it messes up !
Since I cannot do the above 1 and 2 with Pages, I need to move back to my old PC. When I finished typing and transfered that Word doc into Pages, again the words at the end of a table after one page all disappeared. Silly!
I have downloaded a latest version of iWork 9.0.4 or 9.1 , the web developer said the issues of Table in iWork were fixed. However, it seems not !
I have check similar questions but I cannot get my answer, If anyone knows the answer, please let me know? I need to hand in my dissertation in one month, and I do not want to waste anymore time on the sofeware issue.

This feature was described many times.
I don't know why you are assuming that text embedded in a cell is supposed to "flow naturally".
The app behave the way it was designed to do and in this design a cell can't cross pages boundaries.

It seems that you missed something because in cells we may adjust line spacing and internal margin as we want.

As far as I know, Apple just write that :
we may open, save, and email Microsoft Word files from within Pages.
we may open, save, and email Microsoft Excel files from within Numbers.
we may open, save, and email Microsoft Powerpoint files from within Keynote.
It doesn't state that every attribute or feature will be kept.

How do I change the margins in Word output?

I'm using RoboHelp 9 as an intermediate format to convert FrameMaker 10 source to old-school 7-bit ASCII text with layout. The whole path is FrameMaker > RoboHelp > Word 2010 > Save as MS-DOS Text with Layout. I have this working with MIF2Go but want to switch it to RoboHelp since that's what the company owns.
The FrameMaker doc's page layout is 8.5" x 11" with .25" margins (8" text column). The text is Courier New 12.
The Word document generated by RoboHelp has 1" margins. Where can I change that?

Pages'08 vs MS Word 2008

I have been using Pages'08. I find it great. It's very straightforward and user-friendly. It works wonderful especially when I incorporate some pictures in my paper.
However, it's such a pain in the neck that I have to export to .doc or .pdf every time I finish my work;nevertheless, I've been using it because it's the best word processor ever as far as I know.
Now we have MS office 2007(?is it right?) for Mac. Even though I really hate MS stuff, if MS word 2007 works as well as Pages'08, I would switch to it.
How many times I cursed my self when I saw my Pages file in my external hard drive when I needed to print it out at other places?

Word 2008 does a lot of things that Pages does not do, and there are a lot of things that you can do, if you only sit down and take your time in Word 2008. However, the amount of functions in Word 2008 makes it more difficult to find the things you actually need. For many of us. Depending on the individual needs of course.

How to insert blank page into pages document when using word processing mode?

I've recently created a 50+ page document using Pages '09. I started the document using word processing mode. Now, when I view in thumbnail mode and try to insert a blank page somehwere in the middle of the document, it won't allow me to select where I want. It just selects all the pages, as thought they are one section. I believe this is because I am in word processing mode. My question is, can I convert the document to layout mode so that each page represents it's own section, without losing what work I've already done? And if so, how?
The document is entirely text boxes and images, so I don't have any need for word processing space. I just need new pages to act as blank templates for the text boxes and images I create.
Is it possible to keep all my work as is, and convert the document to layout mode vs. word processing mode?

It just selects all the pages, as thought they are one section.
That's because they are one section. You must insert section breaks to separate them. There is no need to use page layout which does make each page a separate section. You have to manually add each page & use text boxes or other containers for the text & link the text boxes.

Page numbers from MS Word cannot be deleted in pages

A colleague sent me a MSWord (Mac) document that I opened in pages 09 and started working on it. I need to delete the page numbers that were put in on the MSWord document. I guess they were put in using the automatic page numbering feature in Word. However, In the Pages09 document they are not in the usual footer location. It almost looks like they are part of the page background. They are not selectable and cannot be removed. It I choose to add page numbers using Pages, they numbers appear in the usual footer location—in addition to and not supplanting– the unselectable page numbers brought over from MSWord. Does anybody know a solution to this?

The persistent content usually is a Master Object. So, you were right to begin with: Format > Advanced > Make Master Objects Selectable. One would think that if this is always the solution, it would be a simple matter to now select the tenacious item and delete it. The problem is that sometimes the object while now selectable is still not accessible.
This Master Object can hide behind the Header box, as though the Header was a solid glass wall. Deselecting the Header function, in the Document Inspector, will give you access, but it will also irretrievably delete your Header Content. A better way, I have found, is to change the header Margin figure in the Document Margins Pane of the Document Inspector.
Once you have moved the Header, Footer, or whatever else might be sharing the space, off the persistent page number, you can click on the page number Object and hit Delete. Now you can put back whatever you had to move, and you should be good to go. Consider yourself lucky if your Pages header doesn't fall over the old Word Header.

When I'm on microsoft word and typing and get to the bottom of the page a new page doesn't just come up, i have to manually put it there so then when i go back and add stuff to the first page i loose whatever was at the bottom. how do i stop this?

It sounds like you have chosen a publishing template rather than a word processing template. There are two basic modes in MS Word: word processing and publishing layout. Word processing mode (and all word processing templates) have a continuous text box in the page for writing text. The publishing layout mode (and publishing templates) are documents that have text boxes placed for articles, titles, pictures, etc. Be sure to choose the word document template and you’ll get what you expect. Do not choose the word publishing document.
