Work Center-doubt in defining Available capacity

Hi guys,
I have some work centers for which i haven't defined any shifts,i have defined start time,end time & total break time & no of individual capacities ,now the client reqmnt is as follows
No of Individual capacities -7 for 1st shift
No fo individual Capcities -4 for 2nd shift
How to do that?
Pls explain me in detail

Sorry for delay in reply.
In defining work break down schedules:
Keep the key say BR1 in the column "BREAK"& go on changing the numbers 1.2......in the column B.No.input you values of diferent timings in the other columns.Save the values
Then in the shift defininition tab. input the value BR1 .
then break time will appear cumulated value.
then use this shift sequence in your work center.
It willsolvew your problem.

    Selection Parameters: Work center range from and to, Period from and to
    List Format: Work Center, Avail Capacity, Loaded Capacity, Free Capacity, Load %
    I have found a standard function module (FM) to get work center's available capacity for a period, but still facing the challenge to find a FM to get a work center’s capacity requirements (load) in a period.
    I have read through all the related threads from the web, and tested the recommended FMs, but still cannot get a right result.
    Please help to provide some leads for a FM or the logic.

    The following function modules should be useful:
       - CY_PRIMARY_SELECTION            - Function module for selection of orders for the work center
       - CY_SECONDARY_SELECTION          - Check for additional criteria
       - CR_CAPACITY_AVAILABLE_PERIODS   - Reads the available capacity from work center
       - HR_PERSON_READ_TIME_INFO        - Reads the available capacity from person (modification)
       - CY_GET_PART_CAPACITY            - used only for the first period to read backlog
       - CY_LOAD_DISTRIBUTION            - Distribution key
    Please observe that these are simple function modules, not BAPIs, That means, they were developed to be used on the SAP internal programs and they are not supported by SAP when used in custom programs.

  • Temporary shut down of Work Center

    We are taking capacity planning into consideration, and work center is
    temporarily shutdown for a period of 12 hrs.
    How to capture the temporary shutdown of the work center in SAP, in order
    no production orders takes work center into consideration as available capacity during this temporary shut down time
    Lastly, if shutdown time is able to capture in SAP, and fixing of work center
    is less than 12 hrs (lets assume 8 hrs) How to chance dynamically in orders for the production orders
    to consider the work center as available

    We have not implemented PM module. As a work around, we created a
    dummy production order (without material - c007) and assigned a operation to the
    temporary shutdown work center, this production order filled the work center
    temp. shutdown time slot (so, other production orders cannot use it)
    Other Parameters we considered:
    1. Backward Scheduling
    2. Basic Finish Date (day on W/C is temp. shut down)
    3. Basic Start Date calculated (From Routing Operation Mins)- Routings operation
       minutes maintained in par the temporary shut down time
    4. Operation costs: 1cent/hr

  • Capacity evaluation in work center which has number of indivisual capacity.

    Work Center(WC01) has 2 indivisual capacity.
    and available capacity is 16H.  (8H * 2)
    I made capacity requirement(production order)  with 26H.
    Capacity evaluation displays the result as below.

    I don't know why the requriment capacity is only 8H per day.
    I think that the requirement capacity should be 16H per day.

    So, I don't understand 'capacity load(%')
    I want to product the material using two capcity
    but capacity evaluation calcuate only one capacity now.
    I think the below result is right.

  • Work center capacity or WT generic

    Dear All
    Is it possible to have Work center determination based on Bin capacity ,
    if not then as second option
    Is it possible to  have WT generic for work center determination where in the picker based on the available work center will enter the bin and confirm the task.
    Please confirm with the storage type settings/role to accomplish the above..

    Request you guys to validate the Work center functionality summarized below and provide your feedback/clarification if any.
    Case 1: User decides on the bin during confirmation
    It is realized through POSC setting for OB02 ,,either having storage type or type and section without bin.
    Open Points:
    WT generic setting at storage type doesn't need to be generic ( values 1 and 2) , It can still remain as not generic (=with Bin)
    It doesn't work based on work center determination setting(/SCWM/PACKSTDT) and having rule based checked at POSC..
    Case 2: User will drop the picked items in common work center
    It is done by having common Inbound section shared between multiple work centers and then the pack center user drags and drops the items/HU from common bin to working bin .. If required there can be an additional bin to reflect the completed work.
    Case 3: Based on consolidation group
    It is achieved by having Consolidation group as Put away rule and work center determination based on consolidation group.(/SCWM/PACKSTDT)
    System dynamically determines the bin per consolidation group.
    Open Points:
    If there is no work center available during picking for a particular consolidation group ( means all available  work center are occupied with different consolidation groups) then surprisingly the pick is directed to staging area ( Is this expected behavior??)
    Case 4: Work center determination Based on Remaining capacity

  • Capacity categories in work center

    Dear PP gurus,
    I have a work center where i have maintained 2 capacity categories in capacity tab screen. One m/c and other labour. Now when i assign this work center to a routing.....in the routing operation details screen, i see only the formula from the 1st capacity category showing up. How/Where can i see the formulas from the other capacity category, maintained in the work center?

      For the capacity category say:Machine, in the "capacity header" in workcenter, you assign "no. of individual capacities" as 2. Also, you can create the capacities in CR11 and assign the same to the work center.
       In routing you can just enable the check box "Required splitting" and assign no. of splits =2. you cannot assign the individual capacities you have created in CR11 in routing.
      In Production order, in operation details, "Cap. reqmt assignment", you can assign those two individual capacities and assign qty to be processed in those capacities.

    We have a requirement to capture work center change documents at the capacity level which I understand is not supported by standard SAP; note 352485(point 15). Is there, though, a customized solution that can be developed? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Usman,
    I have already tested the method you are mentioning. You cannot save a order without work center. So, you need to use a dummy work center and change all the open orders.. if you want to change capacity category from A to B. New capacity category should be mentioned in dummy or original work center.
    When you replace the work center, order will be gng for scheduling.. which leads to change of Basis start date and earliest start date... this is an inconsistency...
    To avoid it... i followed below steps
    1. Uncheck the capacity requirement indicator in all open orders
    2. when u try to delete, it will say "Capacity is still being used"
    3. Table KBED, use capacity ID and run, it will list out the pending orders
    4. When the table has no entries, delete the capacity category
    5. check all capacity indicator

  • Work Center (No. of indiv. cap)

    Hi,
    I have Assembly Work center for details are as follows,
    Start                         06:30:00
    Finish                       23:30:00          Capacity utilization 100
    Length of breaks     01:00:00           No. of indiv. cap.   2
    Operating time          16.00             Capacity             32.00        H
    Here available capacity is shown as 16 Hours.
    But in actual there are two shift 06.30 to 15.00 with 1 person and second 15.00 to 23.30 with 1 person
    So available capacity should be 8 Hours as two person are working in two shift but system shows that two person are working for 16 Hours hence available capacity as 32 hours which is wrong.
    Please let me know how we can show available hours as 8 in this case withoout changing utilization,no of ind.

    Dear Lalit,
    1.In the capacity header of that work center,click on intervals and shift and click on interval by mentioning the valid from and to
    date and allocate the shift sequence(first shift starting from 06:30:00 and ending at 15:00:00) and the second shift starting at
    15:00:00 and ending at 23:30:00(assuming the length of brak for each shift has also been properly defined).
    In the capacity header page also mention the active version as 01(for which you have defined the shifts).
    2.Now in CM01,for the same work center in the top settings->General->mention the capacity version as 01 and check the
    results.
    Check and revert back

    Hi experts,
    I submit you this question as an old nightmare of mines which raises to me again.
    In order to build the best R/3 production model as possible, I would get a way to define a work center as a volume or an area capacity (m2/m3).
    The work center types 0014 "Stor. resource" & 0015 "Proc. unit/Stor.res." sound good to me to reach my goal. But after customizing by OP40 the production usage, I am still not able to define a volume capacity for this work center by cr01/cr02 : only capacity type 1 & 2 are allowed with the time dimension.
    Who could help me ?
    Who could tell me the initial usage in R/3 for the work center types 0014 & 0015 ?
    How it works ? For what ?
    Who has got a trick to manage a production process with a finite volume resource in R/3 ?

    Hi,
    When you create a resource (PP-PI work center) with the types 0014 or 0015, an assignment of one storage location is mandatory on basic data view. In addition, the systems checks that the populated storage location has not been already assigned to an other resource. That suits me well as we can imagine to manage the capacity of a physical area by this link.
    I still have a doubt before any tests because I don't know what is the consistency of the link between the work center and the storage (/GI /GR /PP conf.), moreover I didn't found any docs on it at the time being.
    I would know what can we expect from this link as analysis and results.
    It remains a second point about the resource : the correct usage as a capacity for PP and not PP-PI.
    The target of this investigation is not to implement PP-PI, it's to fine tune a good PP model.
    I'll appreciate if someone who has already used this kind of resource (type 0014/0015) could transfer me the usage. -> Thank in advance to everyone who will add a post in this sense.
    But in any way, so far so good, it's just a question of time.

    Control Key in Defaut value keys screen is mainly for defining how the work center will be used in routings.
    Almost in all the PP we define same Control key to the work center as well in the routing.
    For example in work center control Key PP01 is used to define Routings/Internal proc. activities. When we go to the routing screen even if we do not see our components, work centers or control key we have to manually enter these details ans here control Key will remain the same as it was in Work center.
    No. of individual capacity defines how many machines are there of the same type in the work center. E.g if I have 5 CNC machines then I will make One work center and in capacity screen I will put 5 as No. of individual Capacity.

  • Regarding work center hierarchy

    Hi all,
    I have 2 work centers liked to a superior work center in a hirarchy.
    Is it possible to do capacity planning at the superior work center level.
    The scenario is like this - I will get planned order at a superior work center level. I will  convert the planned order into 2 production orders with child work centers in respective order.
    Now I want that, when I see the capacity overview for the superior work center, it should be full. That means I want to link the capacities of the child work centers to the parent work center. 
    Please let me know if it is possible ?

    Hi,
    Work center hierarchies are used in capacity planning to cumulate available capacity and capacity requirements. You can cumulate available capacities from subordinate work centers to a superior work center level in order to determine the total available capacity for the superior work center.
    In your situation, I think you need to create two planned orders with the two work centers and after this you will be able to see the capacity requirements cumulated at the superior WC.

          I have four different Finished goods all have same lead time and same requirement date in same work center, I didn't have capacity planning so all FG have same start date in same work center after MRP run, how it is practically possible on the shopfloor.

    The fact of running MRP (with or without Lead time scheduling) has nothing to do with the leveling of capacity. Lets consider both cases :
    Indicator "1" :
    - No capacity load is determined
    - Basic Dates from material master calculated to cover the requirements.
    Indicator "2" :
    - Capacity Loads are calculated.
    - Dates coming from recipes or routings calculated to fulfill the material requirements.
    - Overload displayed in CM01
    What you need is to run Capacity Leveling (CM25, CM29 ), dispatching the orders to the work center in a feasible date. But this step is never included in MRP run.

    Project team assigned to WBS element is available for use in all the work center of activities under this WBS. While if you assign a resouce to work center it is automatically available for project team if you want so.
    While when you assign people to work center,  then resource planning and capacity levelling is at more microlevel (network activity level).
    The workcenter-personnel number is more rigid assignment than assigning a project team to WBS element.
    There might be some more points which can have difference in both the process. I expect  otherw will also express their views about them.

  • Activity independent in a work center

    In a work center, When  you define an activity-dependent quantity, the cost estimate is based in quantity. i.e.: lot size is 1000 and activity price is 10 usd.
    if you change the lot size to 500, activity price will be 5 usd.
    So, in case of activity-independent (i.e.: time of setup machine) that is independent of the quantity, how you customize this in a work center?

    Set up time is not an activity independent for the machine... If you really have set up time for a machine as an acitivity then you have to assign this activity via standard value key.
    Set up also base quantity dependent (Lot size dependent). In material master "work scheduling view" you can define the set up time for suppose base quantity 1000 is 10 minutes then every time during scheduling this time will be multiplied with base quantity...You have to manintained formula also. For costing create as activity as set up time to cost center and assign this to work center in costing tab with formula.
    If you want to define the lot size independent then you can define total in house production time as lot size independent in the same view. There is no key to define setup time as independent time.
