Workaround for iWeb publishing each & every single file ?

It's a real drag that iWeb publishes each and every single file to .mac every time I correct a comma somewhere. My site* is about 20 MBs, and I've been waiting for half an hour now to continue working with iWeb. But it's still uploading... uploading... uploading... Other servers are faster than .mac, but the problem is the same.
Has anyone found a workaround for this nuisance??? Some method to export & sync only altered files? (Or were iWeb authors as bright as to make it change all files, regardless if the user changed only a comma?)
Thanks a lot

Hi Peter
iWeb isnt actually uploading every page, unless you have made a change to that page, yes a comma will do it, also any changes to the navigation bar efffect all pages that the bar is on. WHat you see is iWeb going through and checking to see whether there are any changes, then if there are the page gets uploaded, if not it moves on to the next page.
I try to publish often so as not to slow things down, my site is well over 20MB and I normally only wait a few minues. This is something that I am prepared to do for the convenience of one click publishing. I am currently uploading a 2.5MB site via ftp to another server, and it still takes a while

  • Finder 'Requires Password' for every single file deletion...

Had to make a quick fix today with an Archive & Install...
One remaining annoyance is that Finder prompts for password for almost every single file (using the ommand + Delete method).
    Any thoughts?

    Hello v:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
If the keychain is the problem (I do not know from your post), the article below will amplify what to do to fix it.

  • Necessary to save every single file automatically in Multitrack Mode?

    Using Adobe Audition 3:
Remember in Adobe Audition 1 where if you right-clicked on a wave file inside multitrack view and deleted it, it was in fact deleted?  Why did they go backwards and make it so that every single file recorded was saved automatically?
I record 6 separate inputs at the same time in my sessions.  Then, I send the XML file along with all the waves to my engineer where he opens it up in Nuendo and masters it.  The problem is, this ridiculous feature of saving EVERYTHING makes it so I have to go through all the waves that were deleted from the session and delete them from the session folder manually.  This is an unnecessary time vampire.
Think about it, if I have a mix of takes I deleted, and takes I left in the session both in the same folder... I have to delete the files I don't want from the folder before zipping it up with the session file to send off to the engineer.  I have to sort through them, or else I am sending both deleted and desired session files to my engineer (unnecessary upload time with extra useless files).
So, is there a way to get Adobe Audition 3 to delete the files I delete from within multitrack mode so I do not have to delete them manually after sessions?  It really creates this whole other workload of sifting through files to assemble my folder to be master-ready.
I personally cannot fathom why a program would be altered to save everything considering the option to delete it is present, yet the files can only be deleted manually.

Okay, background: They didn't go backwards at all - they went forwards in the way most people wanted. Previously, all files were written to a temp file, and only saved when you'd finished recording. This was an almightly PITA for several reasons, not the least of them being that a power failure at the wrong point meant that you lost everything. Also, it put very real limitations on what could happen when you stopped recording in a session - a restart couldn't happen until you'd saved the previous temp file.
So what happens now is direct-to-disk recording in Multitrack. Gets around all those problems completely.
But, if causes an 'opportunity' with takes. This problem with deleting unwanted ones has been around for a while, and is based on not trusting you to know exactly what you are doing! What it comes down to is that deleting takes has to be a deliberate action on your part, not a default option of deleting the previous one when you record over it, just in case you didn't realise that you really wanted it after all... And because they were already recorded as files, removing them from the multitrack display doesn't get them out of the Files pane, and doesn't get them off your drive either.
The only way around this that I'm aware of is to use MediaSweeper. Just make sure that you send Suite Spot a donation...

what will be the new alternatives for iWeb publishing,  Idisk & photo gallery ?

Thanks for the reply that there will be 3rd party support.
One of the main reasons why I went from PC to Mac was because of all these cool features.
Am dissapointed to see them leave.  ( Iweb, Photogallery, Idisk... )

My machine has gone dead slow. I have to wait for minutes to perform every single function. Like it stopped typing four times during this question.

If this started happening without your having made any changes and without a warning of low disk space, then it's likely that the boot drive, or some other hardware component, is failing. Back up all data immediately, then run the Apple Hardware Test or Apple Diagnostics.
Even if the test is negative, you should make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested more thoroughly.

  • How can I save an iWeb project as a single file so that I can easily upload it?

I am trying to upload an iWeb project that I made to space on our campus server, but I need to rename it index.html. Is there any way to save the project as one file that I can name index.html and then upload it to our organization's space?
    Thanks!

A site iWeb publishes is not a single file but a folder with content. The folder contains a lot of files.
And iWeb also creates an index.html file that redirects to the first webpage in your site.
So publish to a folder and then examine the content of the folder with the sitename.
If you mean by project, the domain file iWeb uses to store its assets, then simply make it an archive. There'se no need the rename  it index.html, first of all because it's not a webpage. The extension "zip" is enough.

  • Iphone require me to local every single file.. why

Not sure is it something wrong with the database. I just re-installed leopard and I copy the entire iphone library from my backup.
When I opened the application it seems fine, all the thrumbnail and folder is there but when I click onto it. it said they cannot find the file and want me to local it.. and I have to do it for every single one..
I tried to delete the whole folder and import the file again but it said the volume cannot be found..
is there something wrong with my database ??

Well what's happened here is that you've referenced the file and the file's location has changed. When you reference a file then you take responsibility for file management, and one of the trickiest things to do is move libraries across volumes.
Using REFERENCED libraries you need to be aware of a number of potential pitfalls.
    1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
    2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them
    3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about finding the files there are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
As to getting our of your present predicament:
What version of iPhoto are you using? Your posting on the v5 forum, but you're on a MacBook and iirc the earliest version of iPhoto that came on a MacBook was v6. I ask as it makes a difference on the possible fixes.

  • Asked for Aperture serial number every single time

After re-installing Aperture on a new hard disk (the old one failed), I was asked for Aperture serial number every time I open the software.  How can I stop it? (iMac 2009, OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.2, Aperture 3.4.1)

You may have a corrupted "ProAppSystemID" file or Aperture cannot write to the System Library.
To stop Aperture asking for the serial number, first check, if you still have an old file "ProAppSystemID" in your System Library.
    Quit Aperture.
Go to your MacintoshHD and open the folder "Library", then "Application Support", then "ProApps".
Remove the File "ProAppsSystemID" to the Desktop, if it exist and restart Aperture.
Reenter your serial number, hopefully for the last time.
Sometimes Aperture writes this file to a temporary directory, when it cannot write to the Library. If the above does not work, look at the temporary directory /tmp
    Use the Finder's "Go" menu
Go > Got to folder    and  enter /tmp into the textfield. If you see the file there, move it to its proper location.
In this case you may want to repair the permissions on your system drive; you can do this using the "First Aid" tools in "Disk Utility" (located in Applications > Utilities)

  • Lightroom crashed EVERY SINGLE file and photograph is gone! There is a file on my screen bearing the title of what I was looking at prior to the crash, but says, "DATA". What IS that and where did all of my stuuf go??

A few nights ago a message appeared in Lightroom, but before I could read it, it shut down. Yesterday, I opened it up again to resume with my assignment and it said my files were damaged. On the third try I got my work and all went well. Today as I was looking at my newest images and flagging them, Lightroom shut down 'again'. This time it took every saved file and photograph. I noticed a weird file on my monitor screen thereafter, "DATA........Irdata. What is that? If this is where everything is, how do I get it back....and into Lightroom? What is happening?

Could you post a screen capture of your (User name)> My Pictures> Lightroom folder. Like the posted screen capture.

  • Is there a movie size limit for iWeb published in MobileMe?

I'm having trouble creating a movie page in iWeb. There's an error when I try to publish it to MobileMe.
Is there a movie size limit? The video is 20 MB.

I don't know what the limit is but iWeb often indicates 10MB or less is preferred. There are alternatives to adding larger movies to a web page that don't require the movie to load until the play button is selected. See this demo page for one method: Opening Item in a New, Precisely Sized Window. A demo page with 7 movie files using this method can see here: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes.
This second page has the other method. It is a little more involved but works nicely. Again, the move doesn't have to load until the play button is selected. It's the movie here: QT Movies via Export for Web in QT Player.

  • I moved my source videos and now I need to locate every single file...

Is there an easier way to just change the directory for example to where all my videos clips are now located?
Or do I really have to point to the exact file for each and every one?

    farmerdwightks
The major thought is that, when you import media into a project, what you have in the project are just copies of the originals that were saved to the computer hard drive. In order for the project to work, it must trace back to its source media at the hard drive save location where they were imported from. If not, the horror stories of Media Offline.
Everything would be very easy for you if you can get your project from the laptop in a Copied Folder generated by the laptop's Premiere Elements File Menu/Project Archiver/Copy option. That Copied folder will contain the project file (project.prel) plus copies of the source media that were imported into the project (whether just into Projects Assets or actually used on the Timeline).

Matters can be complicated if the above does not exist. It can come to "Where is the file....?" for reconnecting links between project and source media at its new location on the main computer. In this scenario you just have to get lucky and hope that the program will reconnect more than one missing piece as you labor through one of these messages at a time. You could click Skip All on the first to get into the project. But then you still have to do the reconnects.
The Replace Footage is an interesting alternative to the "Where is the file....?" messages. But, best take your chances with the latter before testing out Replace Footage

  • .mac required for iWeb publishing?

I just need to confirm that I do not need to renew my subscripion to .mac to continue using iWeb. I think I'd rather upgrade my iWeb software and continue publishing to my other host service. This is possible, yes?
    Thanks so much.

Now that Apple has made it very difficult to upload more than one site to .Mac you are probably better off staying with your commercial hosting service.
Although one click publishing is very easy and convenient, if you want the average surfer to stop by and look at your site you will have to optimize it for faster download. This means that you have to publish to a folder first even if you are using .Mac. The average surfer is not going to wait more than a very few seconds for your page to download so optimizing is more or less essential.
The application I use, Web Site Maestro, now optimizes JPEGs and the difference is VERY noticeable on a page with a lot of photos.
.Mac is fine and convenient for personal websites but I would not consider using it for business or commercial sites. I shouldn't think Apple ever intended it to be used for this purpose.

  • HT2506 every time i open an image or PDF file using preview the mac take a long time to load and opens every single file the usually opens with PDF at the same time after a noticeable delay i would like to know why and i would like to know how i can avoid

every time i try to oppen a file like an image or a PDF it oppens by default using oreview built in appliction
occasionally this is accompanied by a long delay after wich the preview oppens every file in the downloads  folder and i can navigate through them with ease
i would like to know why the application has this elay i really want to avoid it
because every tome i want to oppen an image there is a risk it would take a minnute or two

In the finder right click on the iPhoto library and show package contents, find the folder named import (or importing) and drag it to the desk top. Do NOT make any other changes of any sort. Launch iPhoto and you will Be fine. Open the import(ing) folder and if there are any photos in it you need import them to iPhoto then trash the imoort(ing) folder.

  • How to cerate app for nokia3650 to receive & trnsfer single file from/to PC

I want to create Application like.......
On pressing 1, my mobile should list files in perticular dir.....then after selecting a file it should copy it to mobile & on pressing 2, it should transfer back to PC.......is it possible???? How??
I want to create app like "bemused" if anybody know............
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
the 3650 already comes with a similar feature built-in. It's called PC Suite in their User Guide.
But if you want to have fun doing it in Java then you could do this possibly with two designs, as long as the Nokia 3650 JRE implementation has a special API to let a MIDlet access the mobile file system (and I don't know if it does because the basic MIDP 1 that comes in it normally does not and you would need a manufacturer's API to let you do it, which is not uncommon):
    1) using HTTP.
    2) using TCP/IP sockets (if the Nokai 3650 JRE has a special manufacturer's API to use sockets).
Both require some application running on your PC to communicate with your mobile device. HTTP requires an HTTP server such as Tomcat (and you may have to develop some JSP to satisfy your requirements); HTTP uses the browser on the mobile.
TCP/IP sockets require an application managing a socket between your PC and your mobile. The Leafy API lets you develop such an application with relative ease. see http://leafy.dev.java.net/
    have fun,
    serge
