Workbench hang's while are creating oracle model of informix BD

Hi,
we are testing to migrate informix 9.40 to Oracle 10g and when the migration workbench is Creating Oracle Model it is hang while it is treating one foreing key.
The Foreing key in informix is:
alter table "dtmpub00".we_docpalabras add constraint (foreign
key (codi) references "dtmpub00".we_palabras constraint "dtmpub00".fk_ref_21_15211);
The columns codi in the two tables are of type informix integer.
In the BD are others seemed foreings keys that workbench seems that to migrated correctly.
In the error.log file appears the following error message:

José,
This looks like a bug. Can you raise a bug with Oracle support, so we can build an appropriate test case to reproduce and fix within development.

  • Unable to create oracle model.

Migrating from Informix 7.31 to Oracle ( OMWB- 9.2.0.1.2).
Captured the source model and the source model object count ok.
While creating the "ORACLE MODEL" , it maps few tablespaces and then hangs forever. Could not see any visible errors.

You will need to log a support request to get development to investigate further. We may need a dump of your Workbench repository to narrow down the issue.

  • Cannot create Oracle model MS SQL 7 - Oracle 8.1.6

Have MS SQL Server 7.0 and Oracle 8.1.6 running on same NT server. The SQL Server 7.0 Source Model is created with no problems - I can see each table and its owner (always dbo). When creating the Oracle model the tables from the MASTER database are loaded OK but when the user tables start every one fails. Error messages such as:
OracleModelImpl_insertObjInfo() java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into... [I cannot see to the end of this line]
tbl_Batch_Prints: Table. Owner name is NULL. Check that SQL Server 7.0 MASTER database is correctly rec... [that's all i can see]
EXCEPTION: SQLServer7SourceModelMap.mapTables(): tbl_Batch_Prints, oracle.mtg.migration.MigrationS... [end of visible error message]
Where do I start to get this working?
    Thanks, Scott Doughty

Very helpful! "exec sp_changedbowner 'sa'" did the trick. Almost... I can now start generating the Oracle model and just about everything gets mapped apart from some roles, triggers and stored procedures until the log window reads:
[Timestamp] Mapping Roles mapped: 7, Roles NOT Mapped: 3
    [Timestamp] Mapping Mapping User Privileges
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :
and then the screen hangs. It's been a few hours now and NT is showing no activity on any of the Oracle processes. Do I just need to be more patient, or has something gone wrong?

  • Creating Oracle Model of SQL Server 2000 Model

    Hi,
I have encountered couple of T-SQL where such case statements are resides stated below. I have found out that when I erased the distinct, it was parsed correctly by the OMWB. What may be the cause of this. Any comments?
CASE [MONTH](dbo.recetat.dtEkzekutimit) WHEN dbo.muajt.[id] THEN (count (distinct (CASE (dbo.Recetat.KodPacienti) WHEN '0' THEN convert(nvarchar(50),0) ELSE dbo.Recetat.KodPacienti END)) ) ELSE 0 END AS NrPacient

    Hi,
Im afraid this is a bug with our current parser.
I have logged a bug against it (bug 5498754)
We are currently redeveloping our migration tools see here
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/migration/migrationtoolsstatementofdirection.htm
Thanks for working out that it was the DISTINCT function which caused the problem.
Im afraid your workarond of removing the DISTINCT from the T_SQL, Parsing to PL/SQL and then manually adding back in your DISTINCT is the only workaround available.
    Regards,
    Dermot.

  • Hang up when creating the oracle model

When I try to migrate an Access97 db to Oracle using the Migration Workbench, after capturing the source database fine, I run the "create oracle model from source model" and it functions well until it reaches the final foreign key where it will just hang!

This is a known problem. It appears that you may be trying to map a non supported relationship. The OMWB does not support relationships based on queries, only queries based on tables are supported. To get around you hanging problem remove the non supported query and regenerate the xml file. Now try a capture and mapping phase. Hope this helps you get around your problem.

  • Creation of Oracle model hanging MS SQL 7- 8.1.6

Had a question answered yesterday which has got me almost there, for which thank you. Creating the Oracle model now maps almost all the objects in my SQL Server database (apart from a few roles, triggers and stored procedures), up to the point where the log window shows:
[Timestamp] Mapping Roles mapped: 7, Roles NOT Mapped: 3
    [Timestamp] Mapping Mapping User Privileges
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :
[Timestamp] Mapping mapped user privilege :

The process then hangs (it's been 21 hours now). Any ideas?

Your topic title, "Creation of Oracle model hanging MS SQL 7->8.1.6", caught my eye, but our situations aren't exact.
Workbench is hanging on me during the Oracle Model creation when it gets to "Mapping tables". I also waited about 24 hours without any results.
Do you have any insight to my problem?

  • Workbench hangs

    Hello,
the Workbench (9.2.0.1.0 Build 20020308) migrating a SQLServer 2000 DB
hangs on Creating Oracle Model saying:
Creating successfully parsed procedure text: .
there are 49 stored procedures to migrate and after the 23. this happens, when deleting all stored procedures the Oracle Model will be created.
    Is this a known bug?

  • Tables are not coming to oracle model from sqlserver 2000 while using OMWB

    Hi,
I am using oracle migration workbench to migrate SQL Server 2000 to oracle 9i. When capture source database and create the oracle model is run. only tablespace and users coming to Oracle model from sql server. Table are not coming. These table are owned by dbo in sql server and
All other users in the database has full privilege on this tables. Do I need to some setup to get this tables
    In oracle model.
    Thanks
    Harish

    Try the following
    || This script sets the "dbo" to have the "sa" login.
    || NOTE: Server settings for the SQL Server instance must be set to
    ||"Allow modifications to be made directly to the system catalogs".
    || This is found under Server Setttings tab for server properties.
    UPDATE sysusers
SET sid = (SELECT sid FROM master..sysxlogins WHERE name = 'sa')
    WHERE name = 'dbo'

  • Creating Oracle Inventory Installation Step Does Not Finish and Hangs at 99% while installing Hyperion 11.1.1.4

    Hi Guys,
Creating Oracle Inventory Installation Step Does Not Finish and Hangs at 99% while installing Hyperion 11.1.1.4.I'm running the installer from a local drive and also noticed that the uninstaller files are not created. The installer process has been running for 4+ hours.
    Any suggestions/tips?
    Thanks
    Manoj

    hi John,
we left the installer running overnight, but the install process has still not completed. Also it has not created any uninstaller files under the following directory:
    E:\APPS\Hyperion\uninstall
what could be the reason for that?
    Thanks.

  • How to customize Category and Category items list while creating New Model

    Hi,
what the most convenient way to customize the Category and Category items list while creating New Model?
    This is standard:
Now, what we want to achieve, is to customize this menu, to:
    1. Display in the Category window only f.e. two categories:
    - EA Diagrams
    - BPM Diagrams
    2. In the EA Diagrams, we want to have f.e. four copies of City Planning diagram, each of them should have different elements available, f.e. in the first copy, only Architecture Areas shall be made available, in the second one Architecture Areas and Business Functions, in the third on f.e. only Business Functions shall be made available. Additionally, it should behave like a hierarchy ... meaning you can create the second diagram, only as child (related diagram) of the first diagram etc.
I know, excluding the particular diagrams/diagram elements can be configured using the right/profile settings, but how to:
    1. Customize the standard New Model menu window
    2. Create copies of City Planning Diagrams with different set-ups
    3. Set the relationship between diagrams
Is such a configuration change possible?
Thanks a lot for your help!
    Regards,
    Rafal

Now, what we want to achieve, is to customize this menu, to:
Question #1. Display in the Category window only f.e. two categories:
    - EA Diagrams
    - BPM Diagrams
Click on Tools => General Options=> Model Creation
Click on Properties => at right of Default category set
Note : Model template does not work as Category. We can't set. An enchancement request has been open to SAP
In the following example I defined a new default (MyNewDefault.mcc). As you can see only BPMN models are available.
To create a new category set with BPMN choice
    a) Copy default.mcc in MyNewDefault.mcc file.
Go to Tools=>General Options=>Model Creation : Select your new category
Go to Tools=>General Options=>Model Creation : Edit properties and remove all things you does not want keep
    or
    b) Go to Tools=>General options=>Model Creation : Edit properties and click on Save as button and specify the file name "MyNewDefault".
        Quit the window.
Select you new category : Go to Tools=>General Options=>Model Creation : "MyNewDefault"
Edit properties and remove all things you does not want keep.
        Save you new category
Question #2. How to define copies/replicas of existing diagrams
         Wrote an extension
Question #3. How to make sure, particular diagrams can be used (created) only on predefined "levels" and how to set the parent-child relationship, so that PD enforced it directly when creating a new diagram.
Specify yours conditons in your extension attached to your model
Example : When the user want create a child diagram :  You can display a list of Parent Diagrams to select from.
You can set in your extension by VBScript parent-child relationship
Question #4 In the EA Diagrams, we want to have f.e. four copies of City Planning diagram, each of them should have different elements available, f.e. in the first copy, only Architecture Areas shall be made available, in the second one Architecture Areas and Business Functions, in the third on f.e. only Business Functions shall be made available.
If I understand well your question. I suggest to take a look in
    Repository=>Administration=>Objects Permission Profile
You can specify objects to show, mask, deactivate at model level.
You can specifiy your own metadata.
But I'm not sure you can mask, deactivate functions following diagram selection. It seem to specific.

    Hi
    check the below
    1) what application profile have you selected (or set as default) while you log-in to ESR - Builder?
Try to use 'unsrestricted' mode & see if it works.
if other option was already set as default then, you can change that within ESR menu. follow link to change.

  • Unable to Create Entity Model from existing oracle database

    Hi,
I am using Visual Studio 2013, .net framework 4.5, entity framework 5.0 and oracle 11g database.
Issue Description: I need to develop WCF service to exposing the account information which needs to get the data from 20 oracle tables. Trying to create entity model from existing oracle database. first i tried creating just two tables it
was created but it took more than 30 minutes. then i selected remaining few tables it took more than a days but nothing created just showing spinning the wheel. then i tried with fresh project and selected all the tables but same issue nothing created and
also there is no error. during this process i checked database query monitoring there is a big sql statement collection tables metadata. i don't know what was wrong the query taking too much time to complete the  process.
we tried multiple machine and different oracle database all are same issue.
Sql server database -looks good no issues.
Any help/tips/ideas welcome to overcome this issue.

    Hi Sakthimp,
    Welcome to MSDN forum.
Your issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses the usage of Visual Studio IDE such as
WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
    and Visual Studio Editor.
Because your issue only occurred with oracle database, moreover Oracle developed the Entity Framework for Oracle itself, I suggest that you can consult your issue on Oracle forum/community:
you will get better solution and support there.
