Workbook Analysis Grid & formatting/positioning

Hello xperts,
When designing/formatting a workbook with an analysis grid linked to a
dataprovider and the use of formulas, refreshing the workbook <b>resets</b>
all applied formatting and shows the default analysis layout (as if
changes to column/row positions are disregarded).
E.g. When inserting blank rows or centering text in a column, refreshing the query resets this formatting!
This is frontend functionality that <b>should</b> be supported in 2004s.
Anyone experienced this yet/knows a workaround/solution for this?
OSS message with prio high concerning this problem is pending as well, but it seems they're quite busy at SAP. I guess a SAP frontend patch is the only way to solve this.
Installed Frontend Patch is <b>10</b>
Please any good input is welcome!
best regards,
JvB

Hello,
I am using front end patch 9 and when I use to functionality 'Convert to Formula' this works fine.
In the analysis grid you would right-click in the body of the grid and select 'Convert to Formula'.  Then when you refresh your workbook the format modifications should remain.
If you have not tried this already I think it should resolve your problem.

    Hi,
    For Apply Formatting :
Deselect this checkbox to switch off the display of formatting, including icons and background color. Displaying formatting during navigation can be time consuming. You may therefore want to switch if off for performance reasons. An example is if you are navigating to achieve a result that you want to export to a text-based file.Scroll bars and scrolling icons are not affected by this setting.
    SAP Notes:
    Customizing Default Workbooks
You can format a workbook using all the Microsoft Excel functions. The following options are available, for example:
&#9679;      Add a background graphic to the worksheet
&#9679;      Add additional worksheets with design items or charts
&#9679;      Embed a VBA macro that allows you to easily access the BEx Analyzer object model to enhance your workbook with BEx-specific custom VBA code
&#9679;      Format cells outside of design items with text, borders, and colors
&#9679;      Add a logo to a particular cell (outside the range of a design item)
You can also format a workbook using the BEx Analyzer design functions:
&#9679;      Add or remove design items that you want to display by default
&#9679;      Change the locations of design items
&#9679;      Apply a BEx theme (see Workbook Settings)
Cells belonging to design items themselves use a standard formatting.  Using Microsoft Excel functions, you can manually format these cells in analysis mode. For example, you can select a row of results in the analysis grid and set the text to bold. However, when you refresh the query, the standard formatting for the query cells is restored and the settings for these cells are lost.
You can permanently format design item cells in two ways:
&#9679;        Using BEx themes, you can select different formatting themes, including formatting for design items. See Workbook Settings
&#9679;        With certain types of queries, you can work in formula mode, which gives you complete freedom to format the cells as required. See Working in Formula Mode.
For example, your current default workbook consists of a background graphic and the Navigation Pane and Analysis Grid design items. You work with different queries in which exceptions were defined. You want to be able to display exceptions easily when you open queries in the BEx Analyzer. You want to display a background graphic that contains an exception alert symbol. You proceed as follows:
&#9679;        Create a new blank workbook using Microsoft Excel function New.
&#9679;        In analysis mode in the BEx Analyzer, choose Format ® Sheet ® Background in the Microsoft Excel menu, and select a different background graphic.
&#9679;        Use the BEx Analyzer design toolbar to insert a List of Exceptions design item. If you were not already connected to a system, you are prompted to connect now.
&#9679;        Insert an Analysis Grid design item to display the query results.
&#9679;        Choose Save ® Save Workbook As in the analysis toolbar, and save the workbook to the server.
    &#9679;        Close the workbook.
&#9679;        Choose Open ® Open Workbook and open the workbook from the server. This is a prerequisite to be able to define workbooks as default workbooks.
&#9679;        In the analysis toolbar, choose Global Settings, and in the Current Default Workbook section, choose Use Current. Your customized workbook is now the default workbook.
&#9679;        Choose Open ® Open Query and select a query.
Your query now opens in the workbook you have defined as the default.  The Exception design item is already embedded in your workbook and your custom background graphic is displayed
    Themes
BEx themes, based on NetWeaver Portal styles, are shared services across the Business Explorer suite. In the BEx Analyzer, they are delivered as a set of Microsoft Excel style definitions for your workbook. Themes provide formatting information such as background color, font, and font size. To display the set of style definitions for a workbook, choose Format  ® Style from the Microsoft Excel menu.  The styles provided by the Business Explorer are prefixed with SAPBEX*.
Themes are content objects that are stored on the server and that you can choose to activate.  Themes are stylesheets in which you can make important changes to a theme. All workbooks in which the theme is used are updated accordingly.
The following settings are available on the Themes tab page:
    Current Theme
The list of available BEx themes is displayed. The BEx theme that is currently applied to your workbook, if any, is selected.
    New/Delete/Apply/Save
If the following special authorization is assigned to your user name, you can change and save themes on the server: AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'S_RS_TOOLS' ID 'COMMAND'  FIELD 'THEMES'.
If you have this authorization, these buttons appear:
&#9679;      Create a new theme by choosing New.
&#9679;      Select a theme from the Current Theme list, and choose Delete to delete it. This deletes your theme locally.
&#9679;      Select a theme from the Current Theme list, and choose Apply to apply currently configured styles to it. When you do this, the BEx Analyzer reads the Microsoft Excel style definitions of all the styles in the workbook that are prefixed with SAPBEX* and stores them in the selected theme. This allows you to edit the styles in Microsoft Excel and then create a theme with these customized styles.
&#9679;      To save all the themes to the server, choose Save.
    Reapply Theme Before Rendering
Since BEx themes are saved on the server, they can be changed on the back end. Select this indicator if you want to retrieve the most up-to-date definition of the style from the server and apply it again.
    Apply New Styles
Select this indicator to update the current workbook with any style that has been added to the theme on the server since the theme was originally applied. If, for example, new styles have been added to a theme during a patch release, you can retrieve them from the server with this option.
    Do Not Use a Theme
Select this indicator to stop using the selected theme in your workbook.

  • Multiple dynamic analysis grids on same workbook tab

    Hi,
I am trying to have 2 dynamic analysis grids in the same tab of a workbook. I can insert and run them but the top grid (query) runs into the bottom one. I know you can set the size parameters of the grid but that would only work for me if they had row structures.
Also, I need to be able to print these so turning the clipping or scrolling on won't work either.
Any ideas would be great otherwise I will have to split them up on to separate tabs.
    We are on BI 7.0
    Thanks,
    Matt

I have searched the forums with no solution found.
I want to have 2 reports on the same sheet so that the end user can look at both without having to tab back and forth. The problem I have is both queries are dynamic in there length since they have no row structures. I am hoping to find a way that BEx would automatically adjust the location of the 2nd report below the 1st one.

  • Query View name not saved in "Analysis Grid Properties" under Data Provider

    Hi BW World;)
    We are on BI 7.0
I have created a BI workbook which contains a query view.
However when we go into design mode and then "analysis grid properties" for this query view then "change data provider" it does not show the query view name but the query name. (we have saved the workbook)
    Is this the normal scenario?
Surely should show the "query view name " and not the "query name" as confuses what data provider is being used?
    Is this a bug?
    Best
Stevo.... Points of course... Thanks in advance.;)

    Hi,
You have created a workbook on top of a Query View which is again depends on a Query. Now the base for Query View is a Query. So the underlying Data Provider for a workbook is a Query.
Hence when you go to Properties of grid->Change Data Provider,it shows the Query and the InfoCube, but not the Query View.
So this is not a bug and this how its been designed.
If you click for the Information of that workbook,it will show the Query and Info Provider, but not the query View.
Though it looks like wierd,it is not a bug.

  • Analysis Grid Display.

    Hi Experts,
We are using analysis grid to display our plannig query in our web template.
Is there anyway I can manipulate the way the data is displayed through the grid?
In other words I want to change the size of the font and color of the data displayed in my web template through the analysis grid.
If it is possible , please let me know.
    Regards,

    Hello There,
This kinda of formatting is very much possible. You can format the cells to change their colour ,font etc.As a matter of fact Analysis grid itself is based on an underlying MS Excel format.
please refere to this link to find out more and how to format etc.Click on the  word
    "Analysis grids".

  • How to get rid of filter componet when inserting analysis grid

    Hi expert,
I try to inster a analysis grid in say bex analyzer, but when I display this table, there is anoter component named 'Filter' together with analysis grid. why this filter component comes? and how to get rid of it?
    Many Thanks,

    Hi,
this behavior sounds unusual. Normaly you insert each component individual.
Did you just insert a table or die you "open query"?
If you opened a query, your query is inserted into the standard workbook and if this one includes the filter then you will get it ...
If you switch on the design mode, you will see each component and you can delete the ones you don´t want to use - just make roght mouse click on the component and select "delete".

  • ALV GRID FORMAT IN BACKGROUND

    Dear All,
There is t code called MB51 which the user use, we recommend them to execute that report in the background using this method -- t code-- execute in background--- enter the printer name and generate the temporary spool to veiw the report, however when we veiw that report using spo2, the <b>tool bar</b> (that comes when we execute  in the foreround) is missing, which is used to veiw it in the ALV grid format, actually the user easily select the feilds in that format and download them to excel sheets, in the background that <b>" Details"</b> <b>option</b> is not there, is there any work around for this.
    Thanks,..
    Ravi.

    Hi Clemens,
Thanks for that valuable suggestion, atleast I got a direction to think about, so from here on its gotta be xml...
But, since I have no idea about xml coding, also I went through those 2 links you had sent, but I'm still unable to understand the following points:
1.How do I generate the xml code, relevant to formatting that I did in ALV Grid using the FM "REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY"?
    2. How do I go about saving the xml file onto the Application server?
    3. Can you please provide any sample ALV report code, where such XML formatting has been used?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How can I arrange bookmarks in a grid format instead of a vertical line?

Windows has a IE Favorites folder, containing favorite websites, and all of these favorite website folders and links can be viewed in a grid format (spread horizontally and vertically). Firefox Bookmarks: I can only get to display in a very long vertical line. Is there an internal file folder containing all of my Firefox Bookmarks? And if so, can I display them in a grid? Thx.

Sorry, no there is no way to arrange or view bookmarks in multiple columns or a grid built into Firefox.
Bookmarks aren't stored in a folder in Windows like with IE, they are stored in a database file named '''places.sqlite''', along with browsing history and downloads history.
There have been a couple of different extensions available over the years that did display bookmarks in multiple columns, but those extensions were short lived and never were really finished before the developer lost interest and stopped working on them.
Suggestion - folders within folders will spread out to the right, somewhat in a "columns fashion" across the screen. But with the current placement of the bookmarks button I don't know how well that would work; I haven't even tried it out. Personally, I have used the Bookmarks Sidebar for viewing my bookmarks since I started using Firefox in 2002.

  • How to use "Reference Structure" setting in analysis grid item

    Hello expert,
in Bex analyzer, how to use "Reference Structure" setting in analysis grid item by example?
    Many thanks,

The variable needs assigned a value, that's why you're getting prompted. When you execute the statement, it's not executing the variable and exec lines.
Having script output available in a grid would be an enhancement request.

  • Risk Analysis Reports Format

    Hello Experts,
What is main difference between Risk Analysis Report Formats ....
    Summary
    Detail
    Management Summary
    Executive Summary
Please explain in depth and which scenarios we are using these reports. Please give a one business example.
    Regards,
    Babu

    Dear Babu,
    trying to help you.
Summary: gives you an overview of conflicts on action level. Can be used to discuss with business what is causing the risk.
Detail: gives you an overview of conflicts on authorization level. Can be used to analyze how a conflict can be removed.
Management summary: gives you an overview of risks on user level. Can be used to report how many risks are currently in the system on user level. E.g. userA has 3 risks, userB has 2 risks, etc.
Executive Summary: gives you an overview of risks on risk level. Can be used to have a general overview of applicable risks in the system. E.g. riskA has no conflicts, riskB has 7 conflicts, etc.
Best if you just analyze and you will see the differences. If you have a particular question do not hesitate to contact us.
    Regards,
    Alessandro

    Hi Praveen,
In the field cat internal tabel for fieldname you have to pass the values in caps.look at the followig eg:
    tmp_fc-fieldname = 'LIFNR'.
let me know if you still have a problem after this change.
    regards,

  • How to authorize only on the workbook analyse toolbox

    Hi all,
How to authorize only on the workbook analyse toolbox and not the workbook design toolbox? (in the new bex explorer)
Is there a specific auth. object?
Context: For testing purposes users should only be able to create new workbooks en run (display) queries.

You could use the event structure ("event loop") for this.
For any control that you want to protect, you'd create a value change case. Within this case, implement e.g. a pop-up subVI that prompts for a password and returns if the user typed in the correct password. If password is OK, perform the value change or action related to a button pushed, and if password is not OK, do nothing.

  • How to disply internal table with grid format .

    HI ,
how to disply internal table with grid format .
    Regards
    venkat

Grid format can be disaplyed using two ways,
    1. Using reuse_alv_grid_display
    2. using object oriented ABAP with the methos set_table_for_first_display.
For example program search in where used list for standard SAP programs.
If this is not the answer then please explain your issue in detail
    Thanks,
    Rama Krishna
