Workflow maybe?

I'm trying to understand this so bare with me.
The current form we have in SharePoint ask for a user to enter and There name, Event, and # of Tickets requested.  I create a new column named Events to list all the events we hold.  Now the form part works fine, I can fill out all the information
I require in the form and I was able to create a view to see all the information that was inputted. After that it sends an email with the event name and # of tickets requested as verification to the end user.  The part I need to figure out is how to modify
the email that is being sent out?  I get a field of "Event name" in the email that is blank, but the # of tickets requested has the correct information that it's pulling from the form.
Thanks!

Hello,
Which sharepoint version you are using? Since editing the default email format can not be done easily so i would suggest use designer workflow where you can modify the email and give any format.

  • Workflow getting de activated

    Hi
I created a custom event 'ItemCreated' for object type MSEG.
However, whenever a item is created in MM transaction, the event is getting created which I can see in event trace but the workflow does not get triggered and event linkage gets deactivated as well in the workflow.
I am getting the following feedback in event trace:
Workflow definition of task 'WS91100019' cannot be activated
Please let me know how to fix this.
    Regards
    Waz

I'm wondering if at the time of triggering the ItemCreated event, if the data has been truly committed to the database.
I'm getting at what may be a conflict between the MSEG getting created in an Update Task and the point in time when the BADI is called.
If the BADI is called before MSEG gets committed that would cause a problem, though probably and OBJECT_NOT_FOUND exception.
First I would start the workflow using SWUS.  If that works, then...
I would try triggering the ItemCreated event manually using SWUE, for the instance of MSEG that you got your most recent error.  You know for certain that the instance was created earlier (just no wf started).  If SWUE starts the WF, then the BADI call is suspect.  If you still get the same error then its something else.
The Workflow Template itself is active from what you mentioned before correct?  I would go back to the template, generate a new version, then activate it, and examine all the messages that come from activating it, looking for something suspicious
I would also create a new shell of a workflow (maybe a simple container operation step at most), with the same Event Linkage to ItemCreated and see if it starts.
I would also try deleting the binding between the Event Container and Workflow Container temporarily and retry just to see if the WF will start.  Sure the flow will error without a leading object, but at least it would have started.
    Keep me posted...

  • How to pause Workflow

    Hi Gurus
Is there a way to pause execution of workflow? It looks like this
    1. Start of Worflow
    2. Executing some action
    3. Entering loop
    3. Waiting 1 hour/day/month
    4. Checking condition of ending loop
    5. Ending Workflow
Maybe there is an event that is triggered every hour/day/month so that I could put inside this loop waiting for event. Any ideas?

I've had a similar problem working in an HR environment some time ago.
My solution was to use recursive calls to the workflow.
So basically the workflow consisted of a 2 branch fork
The first waited for events to check if the job was done, if so, the wf ended, the second branch had a deadline monitoring step waiting some time, if it was surpassed, it send an email and recursively called the workflow (with some binded extra data like nr of times it was called etc.).
You can use all sorts of logic in this kind of structure.
    Kind regards, Rob Dielemans

  • Color Finesse and linear footage workflow

    Hello,
I have the following scenario and did not find a proper workflow, maybe some of you have an idea:
    - I have rendered footage from a 3D animation as OpenEXR, 16bit, saved with Gamma 1.0 (linear)
    - I have set the After Effects project accordingly: 16 bit depth, sRGB working space, linearize working space ON
    - After import of the footage into a composition it looks fine, just the way I expected it
    - Putting Color Finesse effect on it and switching to its full interface
    - Result: Without changing anything the footage in the preview of Color Finesse is way darker than it was in the normal preview window of After Effects.
    - Changing the Master HSL Gamma to 2.2 brings it back to its original brightness BUT when I leave Color Finesse by hitting OK, the output is now much too bright
So how can I use Color Finesse with linear footage? It is of course of no use, when the preview is wrong. I have not found a preset in its preferences that deals with input gamma. It could be used with the simple interface though but I really like those histograms, which are only visible in the full interface.
    Thanks,
    Bob

The current version of Color Finesse is not color managed, so it doesn't know about your working space.
One (not great) workaround is to use the View:Primary Preview LUT menu to select a viewing LUT. We provide a Rec.709 LUT which will take linear to Rec.709 gamma of 2.22. This is not exactly sRGB but is "close."
You can create your own viewing LUT by adjusting Color Finesse to get the desired gamma, then saving those setting via File:Export:Setting to Color Finesse Preview LUT, then loading that saved LUT as the Primary Preview LUT.

  • Remove Workflow Instance From Queue

    Hi Experts,
We encounter a problem in UCM workflow. Somehow the content of some workflow instances is no longer exists in the system (Don't know why), but the workflow instances are still active. This cause the cps portlet fails to render the approval portlet.
We have tried login as the workflow instance owner in UCM Admin page (http://host:16200/cs), and go to My Content Server > My Workflow Assignments, remove the offending workflow instance manually.
However we don't know how much workflow instances are affected, we would like to remove all offending workflow instances by a single administrative account i.e. "weblogic", but we found that we are not able to do this as the Content Items In Workflow "workflow_name" does not include the offending workflow.
Is there any SQL update to the data in the OCS schema to batch remove the workflow instances?
    Ziho

    Hi Jiri,
Thanks for the suggestions, below are some more information on the issue.
if you can afford that, the easiest way how to get rid of running workflow instances is to disable an re-enable the criteria workflow(s) that contain it. Be aware that you will lose all workflow statuses of the disabled workflows. We can't afford that as it is a production system
Workflows, however, store workflow statuses on filesystem, so I'm not sure if database operations will be enough.I think so, we tried login as workflow owner, there is a function to "Remove workflow from queue" for specified workflow instance under All Active Workflows --> My Workflow Assignments. However after the removal of the workflow instances, we can't find any data modification in the OCS schema, related tables include WORKFLOWDOCUMENTS, WORKFLOWDOCATTRIBUTES, DOCUMENTS, DOCMETA, REVISIONS and REVCLASSES
by doing so, the admin should see the items - not in My Workflow Assignment, though. You will need to click the name of the wokflow and then, you should see all the items in the particular workflowYes, the admin i.e. "weblogic" can view all active workflow instances WITH content associated with it, but offending workflow instances (i.e. the one WITHOUT content somehow) do not show up.
We believe, if no things go wrong, that all active workflow instances can be found by running the following sql statement "select * from WORKFLOWDOCUMENTS;". However, in our case, workflow instances without content can be found using the same sql, but do not show up in UCM web UI login as "weblogic".
Last, but not least, you should analyse how come an item in a workflow could be deleted. We encountered this during high load (Generated by Stress Test Tool), without login UCM web UI as admin role to delete content.
the admin deleted the item in Repository Manager whilst it routed in a workflow. We tried using admin role to delete content in Repository Manager, it popup error when we tried to delete content which are in active workflow. We had to either Approve or Reject it before we can delete it (which I think the workflow maybe not in active state anymore, i don't know..)
See if any other suggestion I can get. Thanks for the input.
    Thanks,
    Ziho

  • Sharpening with Elements on a Nikon D70 (w/ kit lens)

As much as I love this camera, I can't help but feel that I should be getting sharper images from it. I realize that much is left up to me as far as post-processing, and that's okay, that's why I bought Elements in the first place (I'm using version 3 for Mac).
Initially, all I shot was in the JPEG format, but now that I have version 3, I've moved to RAW. I like the way I can change exposure, white balance, and the like using the RAW plug-in, but I still don't see a signifigant difference when it comes to sharpening. My suspicion is that it's something to do with my workflow; maybe I should forego Camera RAW sharpening and just stick to USM? Or maybe I'm just missing the whole point when it comes down to sharpening an image. This seems to be the one major "hurdle" I have right now (well, that and just getting the hang of RAW, which is STILL Greek to me).
I would REALLY like to hear from you Nikon users who may have some tips. I know that this camera is capable of much more than I'm currently getting out of it. Thanks for your time.
    Tony

Shooting RAW will not provide an initially sharper image, but will provide much better dynamic range and bypass all in-camera processing. This gives you more latitude in what you can do with your post processing and also eliminates the degradation of continually saving changes in JPEG, which compresses each time you save. I normally save in TIFF or PDF before I create a final JPEG image. Still, using USM as a first and last step, or just a last step, is the easiest way I've found of sharpening your image. My Canon Rebel XT uses stronger AA filters in the camera resulting in even softer images than your Nikon. This is done to avoid moire in the images. I almost always use USM to correct for this.
With many DSLR cameras, the out of camera images are much softer than you'd get out of a point and shoot. Generally, less processing is done in the camera as you get into the "prosumer" level of cameras. You are expected to sharpen out of the camera. The Canon, and to a lesser degree Nikon, message boards are filled with new users complaining about the softness of their images. Remember that less in-camera processing creates fewer artifacts that you'll have to deal with later. Another point is that the lens on a DSLR is critical in how sharp your image can be. Depth of field and camera shake are other factors that you must take into account. There's a lot going on here.
USM itself can be used to accentuate contrast by applying low amount/high radius/low threshold, or any range of sharpening through higher amount/low radius and 0 or higher threshold depending on how soft you want the subject to appear.
With all this, I frequently still shoot in JPEG when I expect to do little processing because of the subject and/or conditions. Also, if I'm shooting a lot of pictures, I do tend to get lazy and want to minimize my workflow. Shame on me. ;-)

  • Editing Help for a newbie.....Please be gentle..

I am new to Photoshop CS3, in fact, new to photoshop entirely. I have been using MS Digital Image Pro and up until now it has worked for me.
Here is my problem. I take a lot of pictures of coins. Sometimes I have to tilt the coin slightly to get a good rendition of the color. So at time the image is slightly oval.
I can not figure out how to use a tool to outline the coin, cut it (or copy) and paste to another project. The part that I can't figure out is adjusting the circle marquee tool to the perimeter of the coin.
    Thank you for any help.

OK, then...so my suggestion about scanning the coins is so worthless to you that it's not even worth commenting about?
If so, so be it. I don't necessarily live and die by having my suggestions validated. Acknowledgment is kind of nice to see, though.
If you insist on your current workflow, maybe you'd like to know this little trick:
As you click-and-drag out an elliptical marquee, you're going to try to be pretty close to properly surrounding your coin, right? Well, before you let up on your mouse button to commit to the elliptical "marching ants" selection area, press and hold your space bar. This will allow you to drag your current marquee around the document window. Move it so it's closer to accurately surrounding your coin, then let up on the space barKEEPING YOUR MOUSE BUTTON DEPRESSEDand you can continue to resize the marquee. If you get close, but not exact (maybe your hand gets tired; I know mine does occasionally when doing this), go ahead and commit to the selection. Then you can use the Transform Selection function to fine tune it.
Now, having said that, and knowing that you've remarked that you'll be doing a lot of this type of photography, it would seem to me that your efforts would be better served by figuring out a way to properly shoot the coins so that the circular distortion you have to correct for is eliminated. Since you say the reason you have to tilt the coins is to get a better capture of the color, my guess is that you need to focus your efforts on a better lighting scheme. Get the light correct, and you'll be able to shoot the coins straight-on, eliminating the circular distortion, and a whole lot of repetitive, finicky work in Photoshop.
Invest the time, effort and experimentation up front, for dividends that will pay off later with every coin image you do.

  • IPhoto Album to iDVD

I used iDVD to burn a slideshow. I used an album from iPhoto. The photos looked good when I previewed the slideshow. But when I viewed the burned DVD the slideshow photos were blurry and hazy.
Please suggest a solution. Do I have to change the resolution of the photos? If so please explain how. Is it possible to change the resolution for all the photos at once?

Again, how did you get the slideshow to iDVD? I've created and burned scores of slideshows and the display beautifully on the TV. I import the photos (cropped to 4:3 beforehand) into iDVD and then create the slideshow there. If you provide us with your workflow maybe we can find the fly in the ointment.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in the library rebuild pane, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

  • Purchase and Configuration Advice

    Good morning,
I've read a number of posts like this in the past, but would still like to solicit a bit of advice, as I find the advice of Camelot and some others to be invaluable.
Currently, I am a Novell house for my file sharing and I have an existing (old 10.3x) Xserve for my webserver. I am going to get a bit of capital money and would like to move off of novell, as the servers are old and Novell is fast approaching its end of life. That being said, I have the following in mind, but would like a bit of advice on this to make sure I am going the right direction. So you know, we are a small company with about 50-60 users. Mostly PC users now, but I'm slowly moving a few people over to mac.
    Xserve 1: File Serving (3 drives @ 1TB 7200) RAID?
Xserve 2: Web Server (Apache and Lasso Professiona;) Raid? Drives?
Xserve 3: MySQL (Bunch of ram and 15k drives) Raid 1?
    bruapp backup appliance?
My biggest lack of understanding is with regards to raid, and storage. Can I get some advice on if my general concept is right, and how I should configure the individual xserves...
    Thanks a million!
    sqe

While I am (obviously) a big proponent of Mac OS X, I do maintain that it's not the right environment for everyone.
In the case of a Windows-centric network, Mac OS X may not be able to replicate all the features you want, depending on how deep into Windows you are.
If you're just using Novell for file sharing then you may be OK, but if you're also using some Windows-centric directory service or ::shudder:: Microsoft Exchange for email, then you'll have a harder migration.
That said, nothing in your post implies that you are using those - I just wanted to make sure they're covered.
The part that's missing from your post is load - how much traffic do you drive? I assume you've determined that the three 1TB drives offers sufficient capacity for your file sharing needs, but I'd also look at your web serving - the XServe is a pretty powerful machine and can handle millions of hits per day to the web server. As such you might find the web server configuration is overkill - this might be a task that can run quite happily on one of the other machines.
The other component is redundancy - how important are these services to your business, and what's the impact if they're down. If the web server is critical to your workflow - maybe you can't process orders if the web server is down - then you need to consider how you'd achieve high availability.
As for configurations, the file sharing server would be best served via RAID 5 - it offers the best combination of performance and capacity, but it requires the hardware RAID card to do so.
If you keep a standalone web server then RAID 1 would be sufficient - fast and redundant.
For the database server you have it right - RAID 1 and lots of RAM (although the amount of RAM needed will depend on your data size - if you're only storing a few hundred MB of data then you probably don't need 32GB of RAM in the database server.
Going back to the redundancy issue you might configure the web server to run on the same machine as the database server (load permitting). This would enable you to use the third machine as a fallback - at the very least having a replica of the MySQL database (for real-time data protection), but also as a web server machine you could bring up if the main machine fails. It could also act as a fallback file server if you synch the file systems, that way you can continue to serve files (albeit without the RAID 5 protection) if the file server dies.
The main issue when dealing with redundancy is failover mechanism - how quickly do you need to failover (seconds? minutes? or is days sufficient?) whether you want an automatic failover or manual? and how you sync the data between active and standby systems.
By and large these are elements that can be added over time, but knowing they're in your roadmap can make a huge difference in deployment time once you're ready.

  • Office printing to PDF

I  upgraded my MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard last weekend and a whole horrible story has now unfolded which impacts my work significantly. The issue is around printing to PDF from Office products. It used to be so easy to control the ouput PDF in terms of resolution but now? From a 3mb Word document an 18mb (!!!!!) PDF was generated using the Save to PDF function (the ONLY one available now) in Word (2011). There is way now to control the output resolution.  Talk about fixing something that ain't broke. Any suggestions anyone?

    Calamity Jane wrote:
something called "Content Streams" uses nearly 99% of the document.
That's bad news -- content streams is what you suspect, your document's actual contents, the text and the tables. So you have no easy options, such as re-sampling images or fixing fonts.
This is not going to help you, but, just for my satisfaction, I ran a few quick tests.
Word .docx document: ~1441 pages, ~3MB compressed, ~30MB uncompressed (text and tables, no images)
Win Word 2007 → PDF (using Acrobat 8 PDF Maker): ~4.2MB
Mac Word 2008 → PDF (using Quartz): ~11MB initial, ~7MB after size reduction
Mac Word 2008 → PDF (using Acrobat 9): ~19MB initial, ~7MB after size reduction
    Mac Word 2008 → PostScript (using Quartz): ~267MB → PDF (using Distiller 9): ~6MB.
This is in no way definitive, just a quick-and-dirty run, and there are lots of different options and settings which are involved. But it does suggest a problem. Whether it's Mac OS X's treatment of PDF, or that the Mac Word print function is not as efficient as Win Word's, I don't know. Other than Office, I don't use the same apps on Mac and PC, so I can't test it. I understand that PDF Maker (Win) is specifically optimised for MS Office docs, which is not the case with Acrobat Mac settings or workflows; maybe this explains it.
At any rate, it seems to me that, at this point, if you want to squeeze your MS Office PDFs to the lowest size, you'd better do it on a PC, unless you can find another Mac app to do the job. Or perhaps someone cleverer than myself can figure a way of tweaking the settings to get what you want.
    Good luck.

  • How to prepare for A3 install? Frozen with trepidation from reading here

I'm mad I bought my A3 so quickly. I have early adopter regret. I tend to jump in early but now that I've been using Aperture for years the stakes are high.
I have been sitting here staring at A3 and drooling about using it for a couple of weeks. The more I read in these posts the more confused I get. I don't understand migrating by project, yet I think that's the only way I'm going to keep my sanity.
First, a description of my set up. I have an early Mac Pro with only 2 GB of RAM. I have all my photos reside on my second 1 TB internal HD (does that make them referenced?) and about 300 GB of free space on my primary drive. My library is about 70,000 photos taking up 286 GB.
I didn't understand the concepts of vaults when I started using A1. I now want everything in one vault but I started out making a few vaults. My first vaults now are ghosted and say they are disconnected even though the external HDs are hooked up. My new 'master' vault only says my library is 225 GB, so I don't know how to account for that discrepancy. What photos are missing? Therefore I have concerns that I'm not completely backed up.
I would LOVE to have a 4-5 external HD RAID system (another concept I don't understand) but I've looked at the prices and I'm not able to spend that kind of money. It sounds wonderful and someday. . .
I don't want a regurgitation of what's already been posted, but given my brief description does anyone have advice to help me build my confidence and accomplish this upgrade.
PS - I am looking forward to using Faces and Places (to a lesser degree) so all the advice about turning off Faces makes me sad. Is there a way to have Faces work project by project instead of running through the whole library? I photograph people a lot so it will take a long time for it to process every photo.

    Hi,
In my case I installed AP3 and honestly no crashes or major issues other than some slowness in AP3 but I see it's been solved with the updates and my workflow maybe helping too.
I run a managed AP3 library on a fast external drive connected via eSATA card to my MBP.
In your case I would say add more RAM (never hurts) although 2GB should be ok for now.
Leave your AP3 Library on the main drive and reference your files that exist on the second internal drive.
When importing, you have a choice as to leave in current location(so referenced)
    or have AP manage library.
As far as the size of your library at 286GB, it my be a good idea to install another internal drive in the Mac Pro.
    So
drive 1) Boot drive with OS and all your apps.
    drive 2) AP3 Library
drive 3) Original RAW files that your AP3 library can reference-as long as you tell AP to reference the files upon import.
eventually maybe a 2 TB external drive (usually made of 2x1TB drives in one enclosure)
and this external can be used to back up your AP3 library on one drive and your original RAW files on the second drive.

I hope this helps but lets see what others may advise.

  • Fiori - Generic Approval App

    Hi everybody,
today my boss asked me if there is a generic approval app in Fiori.
I replied that there are several apps available to approve different requests:
    Approve Leave Requests
    Approve Travel Requests
    Approve Travel Expenses
    Approve Timesheets
So my boss argued that he wants a single app for all approval tasks. In the SAP Portal we have the UWL (Universal Work List) that meets this requirement (using NWBC an Inbox POWL can be used for the same purpose).
Is there a Fiori app that can be used for all kind of approval tasks? Will such an app be available in future?
    TIA,
    Thomas
    Tags edited by: Michael Appleby

Hi Thomas, not going to be a definite answer to your question but my understanding is that Fiori provides a solution for some 'common processes' which have been identified by SAP working closely with some of their clients. As such, I don't think it is there to provide a generic solution for approval - we are talking more about a custom UI5 application which replicates approval functionality available in UWL and which can be embedded into NWBC.
Having said that, I recall seeing a Fiori presentation where it mentioned that Fiori can be enhanced to deal with any custom workflow - maybe a workflow needs to be defined with all the approval steps required and this mapped to fiori?

  • How to Truncate number

    Hi to all,
I hope if anyone know a function to Truncate the "+1 " from phone number. We have created a new custom field to populate value of phone field. The issue we are facing is the new value it will contain three new values (Plus 1 and a space) "+1 ".
Can we update the default value expression so that it:
    a. Truncate the "+1 "
    b. Removes all spaces in phone number
    Thanks
PS: I have tried TRIM (LEADING '+1 ' FROM <phPhone>). But I get an error!

I would use a workflow (maybe two, depending on if you need this to run on "new" and "modify" events). You can use a combination of IIF, Right, Left, and Len to get what you need. For example:
    IIf(Left(<Field>,3) = '+1 ',Right(<Field>,Len(<Field>)-3),<Field>)
