  • Completed all Troubleshooting steps but continue to get slow downs from unresponsive scripts on Firefox. Is there a way to use my browser w/out slow downs?

    Mac OSX.
I've gone through the list of troubleshooting tips for slow downs and for unresponsive scripts. I continue to get slow downs to my computer and browser when I use my Firefox. It is becoming so bad that sometimes I cannot get work done.

And now, I think I've identified part of the issue. When you pin tabs as an app tab, this slows down Firefox in all the ways I mentioned. Please, please Firefox, if you are going to offer such a useful and simple thing, make sure that it works...
Having closed these App Tabs, I had a temporary break from the slow downs... Then after another few minutes, the slow downs in Firefox continued... At my wits end.

  • Server getting slow down

My windows server getting slow down
windows 2008R2 & 12 gm ram is installed but then too getting slow.

    Hi
Remove nested select and if all primary keys are then use single otherwise upto 1 rows
also remove the unnecessary code like this
see the below code you added twice the amount there
    delete the itab before looping
use single loop to add the values
    --calculations--
    LOOP AT ITAB.
    IF ITAB-KSCHL <> ''.
    TOTAL1 = TOTAL1 + ITAB-AMOUNT.
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
DELETE ITAB WHERE KSCHL <> ''.
    LOOP AT ITAB.
    TOTAL = TOTAL + ITAB-AMOUNT .
    ITAB-TDSWCT = ITAB-TDS + ITAB-WCT.
    ENDLOOP.

  • Thought you didnt get slow downs at peak times?

how come bt say that you wont slow down within peak times but on this site somewhere it says you may notice slow downs during peak times (4-11)???? im still getting high latency issues and its between these times. apparently theres only 30 out of 100 people in the cabinet, surely exchange congestion if thats the case.

So where are you seeing the latency spikes?

  • Ethernet performance starts fast, slows down

My TC is directly connected to my new iMac with a high quality Cat.7 cable. No switch involved. So I expect Gigabit ethernet speed but this is not the case.
When copying files down from the TC to the Mac (or one large test file) it always starts fast with about 28 MB/s, then after a minute or more, the speed slows down to about 2-4 MB/s. I have no idea what's the reason. The same happend with an MBP before, so I assume a problem in the TC?
I have tried some network settings, different cables, etc., with no success.
    Any more hints?
Besides this I am really unhappy with the overall quality of this TC. It's from early 2009, initially with a 500 GB. My main concern ist the power consumption and the heat. Even when the HD is not running, the device is always hot as ****. I have even removed the rubber underneath to give it more cooling.

Glenn, thank you for your ideas.
Unfortunately these are exactly my settings, already.
May I add that copying TO the TC works with 14-20 MB/s, but only copying FROM the TC suffers speed.
I have created a screencast, which shows this behavior very nicely. Up to minute 1:05 speed is good, then suddenly, without any further interaction, the speed decreases dramatically and stays this slow for the rest of the copy action. You can see transmission speed in the MenuMeters display.
Link to my screencast (2.7 MB: "http://download.filewell.com/EtherSpeed.mov").
    Have a nice holiday season!

  • Creation of 1000 Cost Centres will slow down the system performance

    Hi,
Can anyone suggest us, that if we create more than 1000 Cost Centres will there be any system/server performance issue in
    SAP Business One.
    Thanks,
    Vishwa

    Hi Vishwa,
You are 50 % correct, Application performance may get slow but it won't clash.
Because If you create 1000 of Cost Center, for each transaction system have to search and have to do the entry for corresponding cost center also. So there is a chance to get low performance. But application won't crash.
Also you check other mean also like network configuration, protocol priority, cache memory size increasing, page fault size and others.

  • Slow down in database access

I have completed a project which automates the procesing of stock monitoring and billing ofacocacola stockist in my home town. The processor need in the machine is P4. I used JDK 1.4 with MS-Access (Office 2000) as backend. I have come across a problem which cannot be detected by me and the service engineers of system also. The problem is stated below.
    (i) When i use the billing module of the project i cannot use the billing screen continuously more than 10 times. I am in need of reloading the software to start again.
(ii) All the modules get slow down when in use the software more than 45 minutes.
(iii) When the billing screen get slow an exception is thrown. The name of the exceptio is Event despatch thread queue exception.
I get this proplem when i use the part of the software which are connected to the database.
If i use the other parts of the software (non database activities)then there is no problem in using the software.
I used the same processing for a textile industry's stock monitoring system. There is no problem with the software.
Is there any timeout value set for the access database's connection or for the swing components.
Please consider my request and give suggestion as soon as possible.

    Hi,
I think you try to establish many Connections to the Database, but you don`t close them. This can cause memory problems and the other thing is that your database has a limited number of possible open connections. So there are two ways to solve the problem:
    (1) After using the Database, close the connection immediately in a finally block
    (2) Reuse one (or more) open connections. This is also known as connection Pooling. The advantage of this solution is that the performance of your application will be better because the process of establishing a JDBC Connection has high cost !

If a reboot is clearing some of the problem, you ought to check the capacity and use of your hard disk. How full is this? Anything less than about 20% space may begin to slow things down.
As for the Flash plugin, these do tend to slow Macs down with some sites. You might want to try Click to Flash to restrict the use. And as for CPU use, I saw 120% on a friend's MacBook Pro a couple of days back: too many Facebook games running at the same time.

  • Computer Speed Getting Slower

I purchased the G5 dual 2.3 last spring just after they were released and shortly after added 2 gigs of ram to it to help with real time playback during video editing. After I put it in I did a test to see the improvement and was pleasantly surprised that I could playback 5 layers of video with multiple filters on them without rendering in Final Cut. Since then, however, I've noticed a steady decline in my computer's ability to do what I figured the RAM was there to do. I haven't experienced any faulty RAM horror stories like the ones we've all heard. It just seems to me that my computers performance is getting slower and not able to handle as much realtime playback. I have been looking in MacAddict and MacWorld to see if they pinpoint this problem, but have found other RAM articles that don't apply to this. Is there something that I could do to boost performance and possibly restore things to the way they were when I first installed the RAM?

What free space do you have on your FCP scratch disk? Performance will drop as your HD's fill up.
Try freeing some space on your boot drive and video/data drive.
You are using a seperate boot HD and video/data HD? If not you'll find this helps.

  • Extreme: does it slow down other users?

Does another computer, plugged into the Extreme base station and not wireless, get slowed down any? Or does the flow from pc to Internet pass through the base station without hindrance? My husband tells me it slows down his computer with we use the Extreme as a wireless and a regular router? Anyone know the answer... I'd love to hook it back up, even though it is very slow with the wireless connection.
    Thanks.

if user has B/G and N devices then yes the network will slow to the slowest device used at the time. A way around this is to use two routers. The secondary router must be placed in bridge mode(use Airport Utility "manual" to set it. Set the main router for 5 GHZ N speed and the secondary for 2.4 GHZ N+B/G speed. Tell your husband to use the appropriate router set for his speed device. You use the other.

The new iMacs do not come with a MiniDisplayPort, they have Thunderbolt, so unless you are talking about purchasing one of the previous generation iMacs such as this refurbished model in the online Apple store, it won't work. And yes, if you are going to get the full range of video resolutions you will need the Dual-Link version.
For details see the store's web page on the Dual-Link display adapter.

  • JVM performance slowed down after

    Hello all,
My java application is heavily multithreaded and its supposed to run as a 24/7 service. Its supposed to collect SMS from different servers, store in memory/flat-files and send them to clients.
The application has been running for the past 6 days and
the JVM has slowed down considerably. (performance has gone down)
Initially the app used to receive/send arnd 50 SMS per second and now it process aroubd 20-25 SMS per second.
I've been using Your kit profiler to profile my app.
The maximum heap I allocated was 500MB; the alloted Heap shown in the
profiler is 95MB and the used Heap is 65MB
The CPU usage looks fairly stable,i.e. it does go up when SMS comes in
and i/o operations takes place and goes to 0% when no process is being done.
memory usage also looks fairly stable.
    (No explicit memory leaks)
The application has over 133 threads and that stays the same as per
    the profiler tool kit.
Also in my application I have a maintainance phase at 23:00 hours during which i do some cleaning work like
-deleting of expired SMS from memory
    -deleting old log files
    -deleteing other flat files
-and finally I explicitly call the garbage collector
What should I look in - to maintain the performance, should I not explicitly call
the GC and let JVM do it on its own? or is it beacause the heap space has become fragmented? - I do make a lots of read/writes from/to the objects stored in Heap.
I also make around 160,000+ read/write from/to flat files in the hard disk.
Could this cause the JVM to slow down?
Any suggestion on this will be great.

Initially the app used to receive/send arnd 50 SMS
per second and now it process aroubd 20-25 SMS per
    second.
I've been using Your kit profiler to profile myapp.
Does it have CPU profiling? If yes, then you can look
at where the time's being spent when processing a
    message.
It does have a CPU profiling graph, but there is nothing much i can infer from it, I can see the graph peaking to 60-80% CPU usage when SMS are comming in (i.e. SMS is received, stored in memory & a copy is also put in the flat file - which is a read/write I/O operation, so I would defenitely expect the CPU to peak up); this peaking up would normally happen between 6-9am when lots of SMS come it to my app. The rest of the time (in the afternoon & evening) CPU is 0% ; so I can defenitely rule ot memory leak right?
its difficult to find out the time taken to process every message; the rough estimate I got from the log file is 50SMS / Sec. i.e. 50SMS receievd via TCP/IP; then store it in flat file & memory and also deliver it across to a client via socket; get a response back; change some status in memory and also in the flat file; this count of 50 has defenitely dropped to 25-30 in 6 days.
    >
The maximum heap I allocated was 500MB; thealloted
Heap shown in the profiler is 95MB and the usedHeap is 65MB
    So not a memory problem.
The CPU usage looks fairly stable,i.e. it does goup
when SMS comes in and i/o operations takes place
and goes to 0% when no process is being done.So not a background thread that's run amok
    (probably).
The application has over 133 threads and thatstays
the same as per the profiler tool kit.You could be running into contention for a shared
resource. This will show up in the CPU profiler, or
you can get a "quick and dirty" report by hitting
Ctrl-\ in the window where the JVM is running (or, if
on Unix, sending SIGQUIT to the JVM process). This
will send a thread dump to the console. Look for a
lot of threads "wait"ing on some object, then look
for the thread that holds that object.
You are talking of possible dead-locks right? thats something i@ve go to llok into; the profiler does lists ot a list of possible thread-deadlocks. but all of them are purposefully made into TIMED_WAITING ; would that cause the performance to drop?
    >
What should I look in - to maintain theperformance,
should I not explicitly call the GC and let JVM doit on its own?
Never call GC directly. The JVM will do it when
necessary. Plus, you don't appear to have a memory
    issue.
Yep, would change that and avoid calling GC directly.
    >
    I also make around 160,000+ read/write from/toflat
files in the hard disk. Could this cause the JVM toslow down?
Ahh ... flat files in a single directory? A lot of
files in one directory will definitely slow things
down, especially if you're opening them for every
read and write: the OS has to scan the entire
directory to find the file.Nothing much I can do there.
    >
Does performance improve after your nightly cleanup?
If yes, and you're removing old files, then this is
an indication of the problem.I'll look into the logs to see if there is any increase in performance after GC and clome back

  • Satellite Pro A10 - Does SP2 or 3 slow down the XP performance?

    Hi,
I have a Satellite Pro A10 PSA15E which over the years had become very slow.
Recently I upgraded it's RAM from 256 to the maximum 1gb to try to speed things up but it did not help.
Next I reformatted the hard disc and reloaded the system using the Toshiba recovery disks. This worked fine and the system performance was excellent. However, with on-line security in mind, I loaded Windows SP2 ( with a view to subsequently go to SP3) and this has taken the system back to where I started - very, very slow, in fact pretty well unusable.
Does anyone know if Toshiba support SP2 and SP3 on this model of laptop?
If so how do you install them without killing performance?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi!
I think SP2 or SP3 is supported on this Toshiba notebook because both Service Packs are contains really important security updates and I think this is not the problem.
If you install SP2 or SP3 you will also get the Security center and better Windows firewall. Maybe you should disable both services because the slow down the system performance (I always disable both services).
Just go to start => run => services.msc and disable both services and set the start up type to disabled.
    Bye
