Workflow question- psd - tiff- jpg

Here are the submission rules I need to follow:
* Convert your image into a 8 bit Tiff file (save as, Tiff)
* In an image editing program such as Photoshop, upsize the image to a minimum of 48MB. (If you make your longest side 5200 pixels and keep it in proportion to the shortest size, this should give you a file size of just over 50MB)
* Make any alterations as needed, inspect the image carefully at 100%
* At the very last step save your image as a Jpeg and send us that Jpeg. Remember, the Jpeg is the compressed size so this will typically be between 3MB-15M
Here is what I am doing, starting with .raw to 16 bit .psd :
Flatten finsihed final psd
Change image size to approximately 2x original to 96-104 Mb (5200 = 51.6Mb)  using bi-cubic smoother
Change mode to 8 bit color (reduces file by 1/2)
Save as tiff
Save tiff as jpg highest quality
My question:
Is this the best flow to use or should I be editing the tiff, or going 8 bit at a different point in time? Should I be using something other than bi-cubic smoother? Or...?
Thanks for the help.

Actually sound like you are following some really out of date advice for up sizing for
Alamy or some other agency with a minimum file size requirement.
With the LR Beta 3 this can be done easily enough directly from the export dialogue. With LR 2 it is best done using LR/Mogrify in the export dialogue. The setting for LR/Mogrify to up size with size and quality that will be acceptable by them are
File Settings TIFF, no compression, 16 bit sRGB
Image sizing, and sharpening off
Mogrify Image Processing Options resize to fit total number of pixels 16.1 automatic algorithm
Mogrify Format Options change format to JPEG, quality 95%
The jpg so outputted will meet the requirements of Almay in terms of size and quality every time.
There is also the Alamy plug in which you may want to use, that makes this even easier if it is specifically Alamy you are uploading to

  • Workflow question - versions in jpg

    Hello
    I am figuring out how Aperture works. Am not quite getting it yet. I have been using Bridge 4 (came with PS Elements 8) and I quite like that program to sort through my photos, but it is getting a bit slow....
    So, I thought perhaps try Aperture 3.
    But I am stuck on this one.
    If I want to edit a photo (my work is usually jpg) I can right-click and 'edit with photoshop' and then within PSE I can 'save'. I end up with huge tiff or psd files. Now, I have nothing against tiffs or psd (I often use those formats for my masters) but I usually edit my masters in order to create small jpg's for the web. So if I want to create a cropped jpg from my master file I'd have to edit in PSE and then import?
    there must be an easier way.
    In Bridge I am used to just double clicking, PSE opens, I edit, and 'save as'. job done.
    Is there an easy way in Bridge? My versions need to be small jpgs, not huge psd files. I keep that format for the masters...How do I create jpgs in Aperture?
    Thanks!!

    LOL, I certainly do not get what Aperture does. That's what I am trying to find out. I only recently got it and am finding my way, finding out if  this is for me or not.
    Corky - if you think of Aperture as a Bridge / Adobe Camera Raw combination, you would be more in line with what it is designed to do. Aperture adds export options including expansive preset options which are used to export your image with applied adjustments included for use outside of Aperture.
    I use 'free transform' a lot, so I skew, bend and rotate images. Also colour casts, replace color etc etc. My photos are often photos of paintings so they need to be straightened and corrected for colour.
    Corky - other than rotate, there is no tool in Aperture that replicates the Transform tool options. You can fix color casts as well as straighten and crop in Aperture.
    It seems like I perhaps should stick to bridge or just finder and try to speed things up by moving my stuff to an external drive or something.
    Corky - if you are running out of space on your hard drive, then any program will start to slow down (even Finder). Moving the files to an external for storage combined with purging the Bridge cache would certainly help Bridge if space is limited on the internal hard drive. Note - purging the Bridge cache will mean needing to let Bridge rebuild previews which could take some time.
    I would suggest viewing the various Aperture tutorials on the Apple site to try and understand just what adjustments Aperture can do that you now perform in PSE and see if that would work for you.
    I will add the link below as a possible replacement for Bridge, but it is currently $199 and may be more than you need (as well as being a new release by Phase One of a program that used to be called iView):

  • Exporting PSD to JPG/TIFF generate a distorted black color

    Hello,
    I use Photoshop CC 2014.1 on OSX Maverick.
    When I export a layered PSD to JPG/TIFF I obtain an image with a distorted black color. The image has multiple layers, two of which are the photo I took (with black background) and an added black background.
    In Photoshop there is no difference between the 2 background (they have the same black colour), but the result of the exporting is the attached picture.
    Could you please help me in solving the problem? How can export the PSD image correctly?
    Thanks.
    Andrea

    Even if I flatten the psd there is the same difference
    Then the difference is in the layered psd even if it many not be displayed in the layered state – is it visible at View > 100%?
    Could you post a screenshot of the border region taken at View > 100%?
    Noise in the photograph may be a factor.
    I think you should apply a Layer Mask to the photographic element to make sure the background is uniform (the added black background).

  • Lightroom export as psd or jpg

    I am trying to set a good workflow in Lightroom at which I am quite new to. I am using Lightroom and Photoshop together to edit images. My question is - for images going out for print, is it better to choose psd -vs- jpg when sending the image from lightroom to photoshop for post processing? I assume it is and should select psd, send to photoshop (sharpen...) and then convert to jpg before sending out to print as my photo printer recommends. Thanks for your comments and help!!

    Yep either psd or tiff when exporting would be my choice for work in PS.
    However you could just edit in PS with a psd and then export that from LR as a jpeg, then the jpeg can be deleted and if you need another just export again from LR. It keeps all the files together in LR and you know whch you have edited as they have -edit after the file no.

  • How to Convert all PSDs/TIFFs to JPEGs within subfolders (no "JPEG" folder)?

    Hello all, I come to you with what I hope is a fairly simple question and I would put it in scripting if needed but I'm not a scripter. I am sifting through many terabyte drives trying to track down all large image files and delete them after making an identically sized JPEG. I can create actions or use the File->script->Image Processor or some other method you suggest.
    There is a drive in question with hundreds of folders broken down by a client number and occasionally we'll design something as a psd. Well after each year we like to keep the images but do not need the multilayered psd/tiff files any longer. I would love something to grab every psd/tiff on the drive and convert it to jpg (and delete psd afterward but that I can do by hand). However both batch and image processor have drawbacks that don't allow me to do this. Can anyone help?
    Is there a way to make the Image Processor not save in a "JPEG" folder but in the true "same location" as it stipulates. I have bound it to a hotkey and am currently dragging in chunks at a time, then going into the folders, cutting/pasting, then deleting the jpeg folders, then deleting the psds... it's quite cumbersome.
    Ideally the files wouldn't go through the GUI so it would be speedier but not necessary. I can use Photoshop or Bridge CS3. I am finding the files by windows searching extensions so if possibly a droplet or something could allow this, I'd use that as well. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

    You might want to post this to the Photoshop Scripting Forum.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • ACR 6.3RC still makes Bridge display some TIFFs & JPGs overexposed

    I had the same problem with TIFFs & JPGs after upgrading from ACR 6.1 to 6.2. My system is Win 7x64 and, of course, PsCS5 and Bridge 4.0.39. This time the upgrade was from ACR 6.1 to 6.3RC. Not all images are affected. The problem seems to be entirely random. The amount of overexposure seems to be in the order of 1 to 2 stops. The problem is limited in this way for me:
    1. All the affected images display correctly exposed when opened in Ps and ACR 6.3RC (and ACR 6.2) hosted by Bridge.
    2. Only TIFFs & JPGs (both B&W and Colour) "derived" ultimately from original TIFF scans (both B&W and Colour) made on a Nikon SuperCoolscan 5000 ED are affected. The original TIFF scans (99.99% are 16-bit) are all unaffected.
    3. The problem does not occur with any TIFF or JPG file derived from native CRW or NEF raw files or from native JPG files produced in-camera (Canon EOS 300D and Nikon D700), all of which are themselves unaffected.
    4. It does not matter were you might be in an image editing process. Some intermediate edits to TIFFs (I never make intermediate JPG edits) are affected, others are not. Editing might start with the TIFF and continue with edits to the TIFF, and only some of the subsequent TIFFs (or final JPGs derived from them) are affected. For example, there might be 6 distinct edits to a TIFF and only edits 3 through 6 are affected. Editing might procede immediately from the original TIFF scan to PSD, finalise with PSD, and then, AND sometimes only, any TIFF or JPG made from the final, flattened PSD produces a file which Bridge will display overexposed. Only some files in a batch of scans, all made at the same time and under exactly the same conditions (almost always with no adjustments made with the Nikon scanning software), are ever affected - never all of them.
    5. Some of the edits to the original TIFF scans (where the edits were kept as TIFFs) were made with Picture Window Pro, some with Lightroom 1.3 (I think), some with ACR 4.x, ACR 5.x, but most were made with PS CS3, CS4 and CS5: it does not matter, there are some affected files from each. The problem certainly does occur with files which have never been opened, let alone edited, in any version of ACR.
    6. I have several instances where simply making a copy of a TIFF scan in another folder (whether the copy was made by Bridge or with Windows Explorer has no influence) results in the copy only and not the original being displayed overexposed.
    7. If a file is affected, all TIFFs AND all JPGs derived from it will be overexposed, never just one or the other.
    The overexposure problem detailed above does not occur with ACR 6.1. All the files affected by ACR 6.2 and 6.3RC are displayed with correct exposure by Bridge when ACR 6.1 is installed.
    I'm at a complete loss to understand what is going on. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
    Has anyone else who was experiencing the Bridge/overexposure problem with either ACR 6.2 or 6.3RC found a solution?

    This will be posted in both the ACR and Bridge User Forums
    I've done some experimentation and found a workaround for, not the solution to, my problem with ACR 6.2 and 6.3RC causing Bridge to display random TIFFs and JPGs overexposed.
    This is a temporary, and, if you have lots of affected files, a very laborious, individual file workaround. Unless Adobe investigates, finds and corrects the cause of the problem, it seems likely to re-occur. Only fixing the cause of the problem (which must lie in the new (different from ACR 6.1) code of ACR 6.2 and 6.3RC) could be be truly regarded as a solution.
    Here is how I enabled Bridge to display my affected TIFFs and TPGs correctly, that is, with no amount of overexposure. These steps apply equally to B&W and Colour images.
    For a 16-bit TIFF, duplicate it in Bridge (Edit/Duplicate) and then open the duplicate in ACR 6.2 or 6.3RC (ACR) hosted by Bridge. Make sure that all the sliders are zeroed in the Main panel and that the Amount slider in the Sharpening section of the Details panel is also set to zero (to avoid unwanted additional sharpening). Then open the image in Photoshop (Ps) and immediately save the image (Save As) over itself (yes, you're replacing the file) back in the folder from which you opened it into ACR, making sure to choose no compression. The resaved duplicate will now be displayed with its proper exposure in Bridge, and any further TIFFs or JPGs (whether 16-bit or 8-bit) derived from this file will also be displayed correctly. Following this procedure, my invariable experience is that I end up with a TIFF either the same size as or smaller than the affected TIFF.
    Why no compression? Strangely, if you choose LZW compression (really the only logical alternative to "None") you end up with a larger file than you get with no compression. I have no idea why. Why not simply fix the affected file instead of a duplicate? No reason really, other than safety. If things go belly-up you still have your original, albeit, affected file. I also intend to keep my affected files for awhile just in case of some possible desire or need to re-examine them in the future.
    For an 8-bit TIFF, although I don't have any which are affected, the procedure would be the same as for a 16-bit TIFF. You will need to conduct your own tests regarding compression/no compression and the resulting file size.
    For a JPG, the procedure is pretty much the same (duplicating, opening in ACR, zeroing all sliders, opening in Ps and then saving over itself) but when saving try choosing Maximum Quality (12) which mostly, for me at least, produces a replacement JPG the same size as the original affected file. Of course, you can choose a greater level of compression if you wish, and my tests show that this will not adversely affect the outcome. You can use the replacement JPG to produce further, derivative 8-bit TIFFs or JPGs and all will display properly exposed in Bridge.

  • Convert PSD to JPG

    Is there any API to convert PSD to JPG ? Earlier I was using Adobe Document Server and I have used a method called 'saveOptimized' to perform this action. Please let me know what is the equivalent method in LiveCycle.
    Thanks in Advance
    Ravi

    The ability to convert graphics that was in the older Adobe Document Server (and Graphic Server within that) is not carried over into LiveCycle.  There is a rich set of PDF to image and image to PDF that you may be able to use, depending on your workflow.

  • RED Workflow questions with Mac Pro (including third party plugins)

    Hello all,
    I’ve been searching many forums for the better part of a day trying to get some workflow questions sorted. I’m experiencing (very) slow export times, and mediocre playback for a machine that should be screaming fast.
    Here is what I’m working with:
    2014 Mac Pro
    -2.7 GHz 12-core intel xeon E5
    -64GB Ram
    -Dual AMD FirePro D700 6GB
    -1TB Flash Storage
    Editing all footage off 96TB Raid 6 mini-sas server (getting about 1100mbs read/write rate according to AJA system test) which is faster than any Thunderbolt/TB2 drive array I have.
    Media I work with is footage from the RED Epic (normally 5K) as well as DSLR footage from the 5d.
    Software:
    -PrPro CC 2014 (8.1)
    -Magic Bullet Looks 2.5.2
    My question(s) pertains to RED post-pro workflow in combination with third party plug-ins and the different approaches to make it more efficient.
    Right now, majority of the clients need a 1080p HD master, and they are generally anywhere from 2-8 minutes (usually). So my sequence settings are as follows:
    Video:
    Editing Mode: RED Cinema
    Size: 1920 x 1080
    Audio: 48Hz
    Video Previews
    Preview File Format: I-Frame Only MPEG
    Codec: MPEG I-Frame
    1920x1080
    Maximum Bit Depth unchecked
    Maximum Render Quality unchecked
    Composite in Linear Color checked
    Export Settings
    H.264
    1920x1080
    VBR 1 pass
    Target Bitrate 12mbs
    Max bitrate 12mbs
    Maximum render quality/depth/previews unchecked
    Issues I have:
    -Playback is fine at 1/2 or even full, but once effects (especially magic bullet looks) start to go on the clips, it’s very choppy and has difficult playback at 1/4
    -Export times (especially with magic bullet looks) will take the better part of 1-4 hours for a video that is 3-6 minutes long. This doesn’t seem like it should be the case for a maxed out MacPro
    So my questions are:
    Do these seem like the right sequence/export settings for mastering at 1080p? If not, what would you suggest?
    Would using offline editing help at all?
    Do you place your effects on adjustment layers?
    Is there anyway to improve export settings when using an array of filters?
    Have you stopped using third party plugins for their inefficiency in unreliability and switched to more integrated applications like SpeedGrade?
    Is there any other tweaks that you would suggest for RED workflow with PrPro?
    Should I consider switching to FCPX or (besides the iMovie-likeness) does it carry problems of its own?

    The biggest issue is that most people have is that updating OS X causes certain folders to be set to Read Only. See this blog post: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later).

    It's a nice base system. How about an additional speedy disk for media cache files. You also did not mention which version of OS X you are running.

    The Red Giant website does not indicate that this software is yet updated to work with Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 (8.1). Proceed with caution here.

    I would not use this plug-in until you get the OK from the manufacturer.

    Again, I suspect your plug-in.
    Keep in mind that exports are largely CPU based but you can make sure that GPU acceleration is enabled for AME at the bottom of the Queue panel.

    It's OK.

    No need when you should be able to edit natively. Relinking might also be an issue.
    thisisironclad wrote:

    That's one way you can do it with the benefit of being more organized.

    I do. Of course, that's a preference.
    thisisironclad wrote:

    Try the following:
    Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
    Ensure Adobe preference files are set to read/write(Hopefully you checked this out already)
    Delete media cache
    Remove plug-ins
    If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
    Repair permissions
    Disconnect any third party hardware
    If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCLYou have AMD GPUs.
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot

    I really shouldn't answer that question.

  • Bridge to PS CC 2014:  Error "Windows Cannot Find Photoshop CC" for PSD & TIFF files

    Since installing PS CC 2014, I have been unable to open PSD & TIFF files from within Bridge.  If I do- I get the error above.   Once Photoshop CC 2014 was installed, I removed the older version of PS CC.
    Sounds like a registry issue created when PS CC 2014 installed alongside PS CC; confusing Bridge of where to send Photoshop files.

    Looks like bridge is still trying to run the old version.  Did you uninstall Photoshop CC after installing Photoshop CC 2014?
    Have you made sure and fully closed Bridge and reopened it?  Logging off and back on would ensure that.
    Failing the above, people have reported success with using the Creative Cloud Cleaner tool followed by a reinstall of Photoshop CC 2014...

  • Yet Another Workflow Question

    Ok I too, like many others here, am new to the Mac (thanks to Apple's I'm a Mac, I'm a PC ads that my wife couldn't get enough of). I have done some searching around and I see that there are quite a few iMovie workflow questions out there. I have not quite found what I am looking for however, so I thought I would make my first post tonight. So here it goes...
    I have 3 different ways I capture video:
    1. Canon Vixia HF10 (HD)
    2. Canon Powershot (SD)
    3. Blackberry Storm (SD...I know it isn't a good phone)
    I record everything to SD cards. I am wanting to know the best way to store my raw video for editing at any time. Do I copy the AVCHD file structure (for the Vixia) and .avi files (for the other non HD) to my hdd, or do I just import into iMovie '09 and let it reside there, or both? I noticed that iMovie had an archival option (which appears to just copy the AVCHD structure to my hdd), which is why I ask. I want to always keep my raw video in case I decide to go back later and create a new video.
    After I have the raw video archived, I would like to know the best way to use iMovie. Depending on where I end up storing the raw video, should I keep the imported video in iMovie once I am finished with a project, and then reimport it at a later date if need be? Or, do I leave it in iMovie as events? I guess this all rely depends on the first question...where do I store the raw video for archival purposes...
    Finally, when exporting my iMovie project, should I store that in more of a, pardon the Windows reference, "My Videos" folder with a original size, web optimized size, and ipod optimized size? Thus, keeping the actual exported version of the project separate from the raw video?
    I hope I have asked the right questions here. I appreciate any and all help I can get!
    Ron

    Welcome Ron to the  iMovie boards..
    very interesting : 'switchers' care sooo much for 'storage strategies' ..
    the by Apple intended workflow/concept for iApps is:
    any 'photocam' related material (still or movin') comes-in via iPhoto, and is stored in an iP Library (=you can tell iP to create 2/many Libs, if you prefer to organize manually....)
    any 'camcorder' related material HAS to be imported by iM - why? because, iM has some internal routines to make such material editable (codecs, thumnails, stuff....). the same material as 'file by Finder' does not import.. in most cases!
    storage..
    iP stores in its Library (local/internal HDD and/or ext. HDD)
    iM stores in Events (local/internal HDD and/or ext. HDD)
    to make Projects/Albums accessible to any iApp, you should keep your fingers off that structure.
    Erasing Events 'kills' projects.
    allthough, once 'shared to media browser' there's a 'copy' of your project WITHIN the project file. (= the socalled Media Browser is no single Folder somewhere hidden in the system)
    there's this Spacesaver feature to erase any Event content which is not in use in any project to keep Events lean.
    use the Archive feature from within iM to keep things easy and convenient.. if you miss a single file of the SDcard file-structure, the whole card's content is kaputt ..
    summary:
    • use iApps as intended.
    • use iP for cameras, it stores 'raws' (the avi too)
    • use iM for camcorders, use Archive to store raws..
    • purchase a dozend of HDDs to store your material..

  • Sharpening export workflow question

    I have a sharpening workflow question. Say I have pictures from a portrait session I just finished. I have to send 10 pictures the client ordered to a print lab and I also will make some small facebook sized pictures and upload them to my business facebook page. The level of sharpening needed for large prints (I upload to print lab as RGB JPEGS) and sharpening needed for the very small sRGB facebook-sized pictures is different. In Lightroom I have the option to set the sharpening on export and have a bunch of presets that alter the export size, color space, sharpening, etc(WHCC print lab, facebook, Client CD, etc). I don't see how to do that in Aperture. I see they have the option if you have a printer, but not on normal export.
    For those of you that have to export batches of pictures in multiple different sizes (with different levels of sharpening), what is your workflow? I could use some photoshop droplets/actions after Aperture export but I was hoping there was a way to avoid the extra step. Am I overlooking an export feature? The BorderFX plug-in looks like the only other option.
    Thank you in advance for time and help!

    The thing is guys - Once a file is sized down it WILL lose sharpening - what we are doing is sharpening the full size RAW file or rather what the full size output would be like. Once we export a version sized down it will lose some of the 'bite'. LR has sharpening options on 'output' which is not only smart but a necessity. Adobe realizes that output for screen needs another sharpen. Apple either doesn't know or didn't bother. It makes ANY output for screen less than best.
    Bear in mind that there seem to be two separate issues going on here - sharpening adjustments not being applied on export, and resizing.
    As far as resizing is concerned, Aperture appears to use something roughly equivalent to Photoshop's Bicubic Sharper setting. Because of this I've never had much problem with Aperture's exports when used for the web, but obviously everyone's taste for sharpening differs which is why an option for output sharpening would be good.
    Sharpening adjustments not being applied on export is a separate issue and should be reported via the feedback form ASAP by everyone who is experiencing the bug.
    Now printing is another animal - I wouldn't print directly from RAW in aperture either if I'm printing small. Again, LR beats Aperture here as well since they include output sharpening for print.
    Aperture has had output sharpening for printing since 2.0 came out (unless it in was 1.5). In A3 you need to turn on 'More Options' and scroll down, I can't remember where it is in A2. I don't know how effective it is as I print via a lab, but it's there and it's been there for a long time...

    If you are editing a single psd file in the editor, simply choose 'save as' and specify the jpg format in the save dialog.
    If you want to batch convert many psd to jpg in the editor, use the 'File/process multiple files' command.
    If you are in the organizer, use the export function and select the jpg format in the export dialog.

  • How do I drag / drop larger .psd or .jpg to Adobe Illustrator?

    I am trying to use Adobe Illustrator to create 1-page advertisements for magazine publications.  These advertisements have text, pictures and my business logo.  Unfortunately, I can not drag my logo from Photoshop Elements (nor Photoshop) to Adobe Illustrator.  The .psd of the logo file is 4 MB in size and a .jpg of the logo file is 700 in size.   I have no problem dragging small pictures that are ~150K in size.

    Please help.   Thanks.

    That works if all the data is available as a file at the point where you start the drag.
    In my case it is not, I have got to go get it from the database, and that can take up to 30 seconds.
    So I want to do that bit when the drop happens (which users are used to as for instance when they copy a large file in Windows at the moment), not when the drag starts (which is very difficult to provide any visual feedback for).

  • PSD to JPG batch conversion problem

    I just found out when I use bridge to batch convert a bunch of PSDs into JPGs, the image resolution remains the same but somehow the real dimensions change, if I save them as JPGs in Photoshop, their real dimensions would remain the same... is there anyway to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Elton

    I just tried it with a friend's laptop, who's using Windows 7 and it worked.
    I think it really has to do with that Prefs.psp file I have to delete, but I can't find it! There isn't even one *.psp file
    Help anyone?

  • Batching TIFFs/PSDs to JPG/PNG (depending on transparency) w/ automatic resize based on filesize

    Hi there,
    I'm pretty new to all this stuff but I've been doing a LOT of processing of images of late. I'm sure what I want to do can be done with scripts or automation though.
    My scenario is this:
    I have a folder with a lot of subfolders, many with a bunch of TIFFs and PSDs inside. Some of these have transparency in them while some don't. These files vary massively in size.
    I need all the files to be exported as JPGs a with a little compression, or if they contain transparency, PNGs. I'd like each file saved in the same folder as the original TIFF/PSD. I require the files to be 200kb or less and don't really mind how large they are as long as they aren't scaled up.
    I spotted this bit of script and was wondering if that might be at least a little useful as a start but I'd much rather learn a little more about how scripting might be able to assist me in this situation.
    var SizeOfFile = prompt("Please Enter Size In Megabytes",17)
    if (SizeOfFile > 0) resizeToMB( SizeOfFile );
    function resizeToMB( size_in_MB ) {
      var current_units = preferences.rulerUnits;
      preferences.rulerUnits = Units.PIXELS;
      var width_pixels = activeDocument.width;
      var height_pixels = activeDocument.height;
      var channel_count = activeDocument.channels.length;
      var final_size = ( 1024 * 1024 * size_in_MB ) / channel_count;
      var image_bytes = width_pixels * height_pixels;
      var image_scale = Math.sqrt( final_size/ image_bytes );
      var final_width = width_pixels * image_scale;
      var final_height = height_pixels * image_scale;
      var final_dpi = activeDocument.resolution;
      if ( image_scale > 1 ) {
        activeDocument.resizeImage( final_width, final_height, final_dpi, ResampleMethod.BICUBICSMOOTHER );
    } else {
        activeDocument.resizeImage( final_width, final_height, final_dpi, ResampleMethod.BICUBICSHARPER );
      preferences.rulerUnits = current_units;
    I don't know if you guys could help me but anything you could would be massively appreciated and would totally help me out of this nightmare. I've got around 500GB of data to get through.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dan
