Workflow to work through 2 sites

Hi,
i need to set up a workflow that runs over 2 sites.
We have departments set up as sites on our system and i need a list in one of the sites to create an item in a list in another site when an item is added to the first.
Is there a way we can do this easily?
id like to avoid moving the lists if possible.

It won't be doable with either OOB or SPD Workflows, which are natively limited to a site level.  One thing that may help (and is free) is the addition of some extra workflow steps from CodePlex, especially one known as "Copy List Item Extended Activity.

SO, you can create a workflow that triggers on item creation (or whatever trigger is needed) and use this enhanced step to copy an item to any site in your farm.

  • Retention Policy to start a Workflow not working in sub sites.

    HI,
    SharePoint 2010
    I have created a Retention Policy on a content type.
    It involves the stage to start a workflow.
    I have used a reusable workflow on the content type.
    The Retention Policy works on the main site collection. However the stages is show as "Invalid Retention Stage" for documents inside the sub sites.
    I wasn't able to figure out any solution for this.
    If anyone has encountered this before and managed to find a workaround, Kindly help.

    iPad requires Wifi (or 3G /LTE) to connect to the Internet. You cannot connect a USB modem to the iPad.
    You can create your own WiFi hotspot through your computer for your iPad to connect to, if your computer supports this functionality. All Wifi Macs and many Wifi PCs do. Check your computer manual for how to do it.

  • Site not working through Transparent Proxy

    I have a site that will not load through transparent proxy at one of my buildings.
    I have 2 buildings with same BM setup (3.9SP2 on NW6.5 SP7). At one location, I can not resolve a web site when running through transparent proxy.
    At the other location, it works just fine.
    Also, if I set the proxy to either BM server, the site loads without incident.
    As another note, both locations use the same internal DNS server which is located in the building where transparent proxy works for this site.
    What am I missing?
    Any ideas as to what to try next is greatly appreciated.

    Then the pc failing has problem to resolve the entry. When you force the
    browser, pc does not resolve anything, just send the url to bm and bm
    resolve it. With TP, it is the PC who makes it. It could be that this pc
    has already cached this site. But then you should see the reqesut goign
    to the bm server. Without seeing the traces ( i do not understand your

    showing that it is trying to resolve the domain name,) i can not comment
    in more detail other that you've got a PC or network problem or dns
    problem with this particular site, but not a bm.
    if trace shows dns query from the pc and no answer, but is really
    strange, do the same step but this time take a lan trace on the dns
    server to confirm that request is received and what it does with it.

  • I have been really messed up and defrauded by your employee. I have the email proof through this site, besides witness's.

    I have a record of my email and post regarding my problems with Internet Explorer 11, with my Windows 7, not working and connecting to other sites not nearly working as well as Int. Explorer 10. I was just told by support since I didn't have a case number,
    I had no proof. My email account in Microsoft is the same as with Verizon. So, I have proof on this site. Now, after I posted my complaint reg. Int. 11 not working nearly as well with my Windows 7. An employee from Microsoft took control of my computer for
    the 2nd time without notice. I was SO VERY clear about wanting to go back from Int.Ex. 11 to Int.Ex.10. An employee actually restored by computer without me asking from 10 back to 11, after I had some issues with hackers. As stated in my emails to you, Int.
    Exp. 11 never seemed to be very compatible in working with the add-ons and communicating to other sites. The guy who took over my laptop without permission, I thought was helping, ignored everything I asked for. I worked through the night and for about 10
    hours with him. I had to make 16 backup/restore disks, per him doing all the actions through Homegroup. I didn't even know u could take over my computer controls without permission. He made changes after changes, while I mostly kept my hands off the keys throughout

    What I wound up doing was installing the newest of the newest versions of firefox (it's at 5.0 or something now, I think). That just made all the plugins, add-ons, and extensions I wanted to get rid of obsolete and it auto-removed them on its own.
    I do really appreciate you taking the time out to try and offer some solutions though. Thank you very much for your effort!

  • Adobe 10.2 flash player doesn't work on some site with diff browsers

    WTF! I've been through every forum about new adobe flash player it doesnt work on some site i.e facebook, ustream, fox news, dailymotion and cartoon network...Nobody, not even adobe has a real solution to this problem! Some site stream good other don't at all. All I get is a blue box in the display sometimes it loads, but doesn't play the video or games. Updated Java and SWF and by the way this a brand new computer fresh out the box WIN7 64 worked before why not now! I've reinstall and uninstall, checked active X java scripting, and global settings and so on, but nothing seems to work. WHY? Global settings doesn't work for some unknown reason can't enable some of the settings. Everything work fine on my PC before the update, so go figure adobe. No! browser works with the new flash player properly. Fire, IE, Safari, and Opera none of these browser work with the flash player like it should! HELP!!! "I see why apple doesnt wont to have anything to do with adobe flash."

    I don't understand - in your post you mention "new Flash Player" several times, but in the subject you mention 10.2...?
    What is the exact FP version you have?
    For your blue box problem, have you tried to disable Hardware Acceleration?

  • MobileMe and working on a site between multiple Macs

    In an article I was reading, the following was noted:
    iDisk balks at file packages like iWeb's Domain.sites2 file, making it +difficult for MobileMe users to work on an iWeb site between multiple Macs+.
    Does that mean working at the same time? Or, if for example I'm doing my site on my personal iMac, and then went to college or wanted to work on a MacBook for instance, cannot I complete working on my site through MobileMe?
    I may not be getting it clear.

    The point is that to work on an iWeb site with two computers, both must have a copy of the Domain file. There are various ways to do that, like using a memory stick or Dropbox. But uploading and downloading from MobileMe is most likely not practical.

  • Connection to the deployment share could not be made (DFS share, works fine on site A, not on Site B)

    I'm trying to isolate this problem with MDT..., unable to find a solution matching this error.
    We have two sites, with a DFS replica between the servers, which works fine. 
    Server A: Windows 2012 R2 standard
    Windows Automated Installation Kit for Windows 7 
    MDT 2012, Update 1 
    WDS configured for PXE boot 
    Distributed File Share
    Server B: Windows 2008 R2 Standard 
    MDT 2012, Update 1 
    WDS configured for PXE boot 
    Distributed File Share
    The local path on both servers is on E:\DFS-Deploymentshare
    The DFS path is \\domain.com\it\deploymentshare
    When deploying on Site A, the deployment run smooth without problems.
    When deploying on Site B, the deployment fails to create connection to the share. 
    A connection to the deployment share (\\domain.com\it\deploymentshare) could not be made.
    Connection OK. Possible cause: invalid credentials.
    Pressing F8, to reach a command prompt. "ipconfig" shows an IP-address. I can PING the deployment server. I can mount the Deployment share using "net use" and providing the username/password added in the bootstrap.ini and "retry"
    in the message box and the deployment continues.
    In the BDD log i get this timeout:
    <![LOG[Unable to connect to \\domain.com\it\deplomentshare. Sleeping for 5 seconds. 
    <![LOG[<Message containinng password has been suppressed>
    <![LOG[Access is denied.
    However everything is the same both in site A and B so this seems very strange!
    The complete system has worked this way before.
    Bootstrap.ini contains: 
    DeployRoot=\\domain.com\it\deploymentshare 
    UserDomain="domain" 
    UserID="mdt-account" 
    UserPassword="password" 
    I've been trying all I can think of, but Im still faced with this error and to keep in mind the same share working on another site.

    Ok, so by the sounds of it, there is something wrong with the share permissions (especially if your account works fine but the MDTserviceaccount does not work even when part of Domain Admins).
    So you need to do the following:
    Start in Site A:
    Boot into WinPE on a workstation in site A
    Ping server-a
    Ping server-b
    Run "net use * \\server-a\deploymentshare$ /user:DOMAIN\MDTserviceaccount"
    Type in the password for MDTserviceaccount when prompted
    Browse to the newly mapped drive and list the files/folders
    Make sure you can see the relevant MDT folders, like Applications, Out-of-Box Drivers, etc
    If all that works, then you can move to site B
    Start in Site B:
    Boot into WinPE on a workstation in site B
    Ping server-a
    Ping server-b
    Run "net use * \\server-b\deploymentshare$ /user:DOMAIN\MDTserviceaccount"
    Type in the password for MDTserviceaccount when prompted
    Browse to the newly mapped drive and list the files/folders
    Make sure you can see the relevant MDT folders, like Applications, Out-of-Box Drivers, etc
    By going through all of the above, you should be able to see where the problem lies.
    If all of the above works with no problems, then you have the details incorrectly specified in the BootStrap.ini (or possibly CustomSettings.ini). Confirm that you have the following specified in the relevant ini file:
    DeployRoot
    UserID
    UserDomain
    UserPassword
    You can have a look in the help file if you need to confirm that these properties are configured correctly. Look under
    Toolkit Reference - Properties - Property Definition in the help file.
    Both Site A and Site B is successfully
    I have changed the Password of deployuser to test if it is correct. and i have copy/pasted the password into the DC when changing the password.
    I have tested the password by logging on to a client-pc with the deployuser as username and the temp password "Pa$$w0rd" successfully.
    Both UserID, UserDomain and UserPassword is entered after the help file for Property Definition.
    Please see the Bootstrap.ini and Customsettings.ini (NB! Servernames, Domainname and Passwords are fictive.)

  • After upgrading to FF5 or FF6 from 3.6.20, I can no longer open links in my work's ticketing site

    I work with a State of Alaska web based ticketing system called Unicenter Service Desk, Plus. I had to downgrade back to 3.6.20 from version 5 and again from version 6, because neither of these versions work with this site correctly. Several of the links open new windows from the main window in version 3.6.20, but there is no way to open these windows (even with pop-ups & plugins disabled, all security turned off, all java/JS/etc. enabled) in version 5 or 6.
    Other co-workers have also tried upgrading to v.5 and v.6 and have met with the same issue. The downside is that the site is internal (behind a firewall) and secured by username and password, which makes it difficult for you to see what I'm talking about. You may be able to make some sort of troubleshooting access arrangements if you work through the State of Alaska, Department of Administration, Enterprise Technology Services, Help Center at 907-465-1818 (or 1-888-565-8680 Option #4:Computer & Mainframe Support), or by email: [email protected] You may need to ask to speak with Ed Maki as he is one of the chief people who administers the USD system for the State of Alaska.

    Thanks for the reply. It doesn't have to process the php, it just has to show the HTML content. It did that just fine before the last upgrade but won't now.

    It doesn't help. The things it says to look for aren't there for me, specifically:
    browser.download.pluginOverrideTypes
    plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types
    I followed the rest of the instructions but it didn't help.
    I did get it to quit opening tabs, instead it prompts me what it should do with the file every time now. What it should do, and used to do, is open the php page and display the HTML content.
    Any other ideas?

  • External Hard Drive (USB3.0) only works through USB2.0 hub

    For quite a while now some of my external hard drives have not worked when directly plugged into my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012 running 10.8.5). They work perfectly when plugged into a USB hub and then into the macbook but not directly to the mac. Standard small USB flash drives work fine straight in to the macbook, the real problem appears to be USB 3.0 hard drives. These will not show up on desktop or disk utility unless I plug them in via a USB hub (which is USB2.0). The hard drive format doesn't seem to be important, currently my Mac OS Extended Time Machine backup HD is only working through USB hub, and my MyPassport WD external drive is NTFS and hasn't worked directly into the Mac for a while now.
    Normally this is not a big issue, but when I am on the go it is useless to carry a USB hub around along with a MyPassport hard drive! In addition, there are times, such as when backing up, that I want the speeds offered by USB3.0 from my macbook to my hard drive.
    What could be the problem? I run NTFS for Mac OSX, not sure if that would cause an issue with the direct connection.

    Very important as to what controller you get and what it supports, besides Mac Pro 2010, 64-bit mode drivers.
    With 4 drives you may or may not want a card+case that is Port Multiplier.
    To use 4 drives you may want 4-port SATA.

  • Flash Player 11 not working on some sites

    Flash works fine in most cases but on some web sites I receive "The requested media player requires Macromedia Flash software. You have an old version of Macromedia Flash Player that cannot play the content we've created" and says to download and install the latest Flash player. The Adobe Flash Player site says Flash is working fine with the latest version installed. I went through the troubleshooting on the Adobe Flash player site plus others I found (uninstall/reinstall Flash, ActiveX off, Add-On enabled, etc). Did the "reset_fp11.bat.zip" Windows permission problem fix - no good. Tried all I could find - hopefully something stupid I haven't checked but tried my best! Checked the Guest account but same problem. Turned off antivirus - no good. But when I tried the 64-bit IE it plays with no problem. My wife has an essentially identical computer and it works fine in IE 32-bit version on these same sites. Windows 7 64 bit, Flash Version 11.3.300.270, Internet Explorer 9.

    Just to close this issue.  The next day, without me doing anything at all, everything seems to
    be working from this site.  Maybe the site did something to adjust to the new Flash version?

  • Workflow stopped working when we added new person to dummy HR position

    Hi,
    We have a third party expense reporting system which apparently sends some sort of IDOC to our SAP system.  This uses a HR dummy position in a dummy org to which users have been assigned.  These users are supposed to receive workflow emails that are expense reporting related.
    In August we added a person to this HR position and there were no issues.
    In October we added a person to this HR position and workflow stopped working.  We tried taking the person back off who was last added and workflow will not come back on.
    How do we get the workflow to process again?  We can figure out why that one person didn't work if we can get the workflow working for the other 5 people going again.
    Sorry for the high level details of the issue.  I haven't worked all the parts of it and am just pulling info from people to try and help find a solution.
    UPDATE:
    Here is the problem as described by my colleague.
    For the Concur expense reporting system, the data from the Concur system is communicated as IDOCs to SAP through the PI middleware.  When these IDOCs fail during the inbound processing (status 51) emails will be triggered and sent to the org unit (position - 50003828).  A change was made to the position by the HR team on Oct 7th (a new user was added and one was removed).  Since then the users have stopped receiving emails.  The workflow has stopped.
    We tried to take that new user back off and the email did not start back up.  We would like to get it started again and then figure out how to add that new user without an issue.

    The fact that the users have stopped receiving emails does not mean that the workflow has stopped. Ask your colleague why he thinks that.
    My guess: a change was made to that position, for example it was date-delimited so that it's no longer valid.
    As suggested above, look in SWI1. It'll be very easy if you know what the workflow number (WS....) is.
    Is it absolutely certain that it's a workflow sending these mails? If you look at an example of a mail, who was it sent by?
    Applying SWI1_RULE would only help if there was just one new user not receiving emails.

  • 2013 Workflow Service - Enabled for Other Site Collections

    I have setup the 2013 workflow service with our SharePoint environment. This works fine with the site collection originally used to register the workflow service.
    The other site collections (in the same web application - we are using host named site collections) cannot see this, and SharePoint designer gives the error: "The option for the SharePoint 2013 Workflow platform is not available because the workflow
    service is not configured on the server".
    Now as the other site collections are in the same web application, the have the service connection to the "Workflow Service Application Proxy".
    I have also seen posts about running a "Enable-SPFeature" command on the other site collections to enable WorkflowService or WorkflowServiceStore but this only returned an error (essentially) saying the futures were already enabled.
    Where else can I look to try and diagnose what is wrong or what can I do to allow the other site collections to get access to the 2013 workflow service?

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that the SharePoint 2013 workflow platform not worked in other site collection.
    Did you enable the workflow service application proxy? You can enable it as below, then check whether it works.
    Whenever a new workflow service application proxy is created in SP2013, by default it will not be associated(service connection) with any web application.
    You can go to Central admin site->Manage web applications page -> Select the web app which was registered earlier during configuration and check " workflow service application proxy" and click OK.
    Did the workflow platform work in other web application?
    If they all not work, I recommend you reconfigure the workflow manager, you can also check the steps with the following articles.

  • Flash player 11.0.1.152 not working on all sites. Using Mac OS 10.5.8

    What am I missing?  Flash didn't work properly on previous version either.  I use google chrome primarily but flash does not work on all sites using Firefox or Safari either.  I have a Macbook Pro operating on 10.5.8.  I'm sure it's probably a simple fix but I just haven't found it.  Appreciate any help on the matter. 

    I have spent countless hours trying to get my flash player working and have tried EVERY kind of possible answer through many forums and websites to solve this. Does adobe have anything currently that will solve this flash player problem?? I have the lastest version of Safari 5.1.1. and I have the lastest version of adobe flash player 11.0.1.152, I have even tried the debugging installs adobe put out for flash player. I have tried the "working around lion flash player video thing" where you try private browsing. I have tried going into system preferences and entering into the flash player settings in the storage tab the allow this sites, etc. NOTHING HAS WORKED!! I still get my local storage pop up message whenever I try and watch a you tube or any site that has flash video on it, that flash player settings box still pops up and is stuck on my screen and I cant click allow or deny or get it off. So many people I have read have the same problem and I only the same answers pop up that I have tried again and again, does anyone have a real resolve to this yet??? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP.
