Workflow users

I am facing the following problem. I want to use my own users to participate in workflow so i added them in wf_local_users table and added roles to them in wf_local_roles and added the user-role mapping in the wf_lcal_user_roles table.
I ran the script called wfdircsv.sql to make the views point to the local tables.
Now when i try to access the web page (wfa_html.home) any of these users i get an error message indicating that database login failed.
I am working on Workflow v 2.6.0 and the database version 8.1.7.0.0 on Windows 2000 server.
Please help me to solve this problem. I added this error to the Forum but i did not recieve any answer.

out of the box wfdircsv.sql does not point to your required user tables. you should modify the script so that it points to your user tables.

Workflow users (need help)

dear all,
i have the following case
- when i create a dba user i am able to logon to workflow home page and my worklist ....etc, and i can see the user in the wf_users view but i am not able to update the record on the view like the email. so what i did is that i inserted a record for a user in the wf_local_user but when i try to logon using the user name i cant login becuse it needs password, so what are steps requred to add users that works to the wf_local_tables.

I'm opening up an old thread, because it seems reasonably relevant to my problem.
If I'm using database users as my workflow users, can I send them e-mail notifications? The view wf_user populates the e-mail column with contents of the column username from dba_users -- so clearly this column will never contain a valid e-mail address (unless there are varying versions of this view and I have the wrong one installed for my purposes).
And can anyone point me to the relevant documentation on this. I've gone through the Admin Guide and the Developers Guide.

Exchange Connector adds Workflow user as related Item to Review Activity

We use Servcie Manager 2012 R2 with Exchange Connector 2.0
For some reason, the Exchange Connector adds the workflow user to the review activity as a related config item. The sender of the email would make sence, but the workflow user does not.
Does the Exchange Connector 3.0 Rerelease also add the workflow user?
Is there a possibility to avoid this behavior?

Never saw that before, what i can say is that the upgrade/change to Exchange COnnector 3.0 is easy low-risk and you add MS-Support possibilities for it.

How to migrate workflow user to upgrade oracle database

hello all,
we are running oracle 8.1.7 on sun solaris machine
and workflow builder 2.5.0.16.4,now we want to upgrade the
database with 9i,can some body please guide me how can we
migrate the workflow user 'owf_mgr' data from 8.1.7 to 9i.
i mean i want to have all the runtime data avaialable to me on
9i as well.

The first thing you need to be aware of is that Oracle Workflow
2.5 is not certified on 9i. You have 2 options:
1) Upgrade to Oracle Workflow 2.6 on 8.1.7 (Workflow 2.6 is a
separate CD in the 8.1.7 CD pack), and then upgrade the database
to 9i.
2) Upgrade the Database to 9i, and then upgrade to Oracle
Workflow 2.6.1 which is included on the 9i Database CD.
When you upgrade the database, all the data in the owf_mgr schema
should be upgraded as well. As always, you would perform a couple
of test database/workflow upgrades before upgrading on your
production box.

Workflow user-decision mail with Approve & Reject button to Outlook.

Hi All,
Requirement: To send a mail with Approve & Reject buttons to outlook inbox.
Approach: I have used the user-decision step in the workflow and the approve, reject buttons are displayed . As far as solution in SAP inbox is concerned, it is solved.
However the requirement is to show the mail with the buttons in the outlook mail.
Resolution Required For: to show the mail with the buttons in the outlook mail. I am new to workflows sending mail to outlook inbox. Is there any way to do this using ABAP developments.

Hi,
If you are on ECC 5.0 or above, you can use the Extended Notif. for achieving this.
How are you getting the Outlook mail ?. If you already have Extn.Notif, then do the following :
1. In Transaction SWNCONFIG,for your Scenario and Category,
in the Subscription Basis Data -->Subscription Settings,
Set the parameter SHOW_ACTION_DECISION_AS as "LINK"
This will give you the options of your user decision as LInks in Outlook mail.
There is lot of material in this forum for Extended Notif. if you search.

Approval workflow - user sees greyed out box

Hi All,
I've implemented approval workflow on one of my lists.
User who is placed in Approvers input box receives mail, but when he tries to do the action on this workflow, box with accept/reject buttons is greyed out.
I gave mentioned user full control security - it doesn't help. Do I need any permission for approval users, or maybe it is caused by something else?

Workflow: User Decision Activity doesn't work

URGENT!!!
I've created a User Decision Activity but it doesn't work.
It sends a message to SBWP but there the user hit APROVE OR REJECT, and instead it work, it simply show another screen with only a button labelad "Cancel and keep work item in inblox".
It simplily doesn't folow.
I've created an method that executes a standard function 'EDITOR_TABLE' that call a screen to the user put a description text for the rejection. It's market 'Advance with dialog'.

Your patch level seems to be OK.
pls. try the declaration as 'Data: uid like syst-uname' or you could try directly assigning the sy-uname.
Try to debug and see the content of the sy-uname, when it hits this code.

SAP Business WORKFLOW User Decision Rejection Rollback.

Dear SAP experts.
Please help on below Query:
1) In my Custom workflow , we are mailing to a user with user decision on change of some SAP data.( material master, source list, PO change).
2) In A User Decision there are 2 Options:
APPROVE Changes.
REJECT Changes.
3) As per CLIENT's Requirment if REJECT changes is chosen then all SAP chanegs that were done to TRIGGER this WORKFLOW should be Rolled back and UNDONE.
4) is this Possible?
5) Please guide me with some Example or Logic to accompalish this task...

You can check what are the changes that are done from Changedocument tables like CDHDR and CDPOS
Please make sure to put filter such that the rollback change does not trigger new Workflow. You can achieve this using SWB_COND by maintaining start condition.

Hiding workflow user/pass from ps -ef

I would like to hide the workflow username/password when starting up the Workflow Background Engine. The following command was used:
nohup $ORACLE_HOME/bin/wfbkg.csh <user>/<pass>@<sid> &
but you can see the username and password when displaying processes on the server.
I tried nohup $ORACLE_HOME/bin/wfbkg.csh < userpass
where userpass contains the user/pass@sid. I also used the cat command, but neither worked.
Has anyone else done this?

This script is appropriate for some customers, I would recommend that you actually submit the Workflow Background Engine as a database job (using DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT), this way the process is run by the database and there is no need to worry about connection details.

MSS for e-recruiting - error with workflow user since no candidate exists

Hi all!
We are trying to set up the requisition request in MSS based on the new standard WF templates specified in SAP note 949625.
I can create a requisition request but the WF failes to create the e-recruiting requisition (NB) because our workflow system user does not have a candidate defined (No candidate could be found for US WF-BATCH).
How can we address this issue?

Im pretty much going through the same scenario now. On registration external candidate does not receive verification email. I am thinking this has got to do with WF-BATCH not behaving. Plz guide me through this. What values do we need to use in the report. RCF_CREATE_USER. I am giving the following values and not able to proceed further. I am using an exisiting PERNR and getting a msg
'A candidate already exists for the employee number'
First name : workflow
Last name : batch
User name : wf-batch
Personnel number : existing PERNR (75481235)
Position : above PERNRs position number (2184)
E-mail address : as maintained on wf-batch user ([email protected])
Alternatively if i give a candidate number in the place of personnel number its giving another msg;
'Enter a value for field langugage according to ISO 639. Not sure if some config needs to be maintained somewhere on this but entries on T002TX seems alrite.

Workflow : User Decision on Email using Web Services

Hi,
I have the requirement of sending User Decision on Email Using Web Services.
Eg : I have created one ECR Using T-Code "CC31" and on status change "CC32" of this ECR, My workflow triggers. Now what i want is to send the User Decision on maintain User Email ID as URL link. This link will contain the ECR Nos. There will be "N" nos of Links send on email depending on Requirement. By clicking on that Particular Link , Action taken should be updated in sap.
URL Link is just like confirmation link send on our email id during user Registration on some Website or when we create our Gmail / Yahoo Account.

Why not use the extended notifications? - it has an option to send links to approve/reject or any other option in the decision task and use a standard web service. See the document attached to note 1646056 - Workflow Quick Start Guide to Extended Notifications.

Creating Oracle Workflow Users

Hi,
Can anybody tell me how to create users in Oracle Workflow.
I want to create users and maintain it in a custom tale where i will store the password also.the expectation is that the user logs in and is able to see his notifications and also get them in the email.
i m using oracle workflow 2.6.0 and 9i release 1 database 8.1.7.4

The workflow directory service provides the users/roles who can participate in a workflow process.
Workflow provides, by default, a directory service based on oracle database users. You can also choose to use OID and provide SSO functionality with your users stores in OID. You can also choose a custom directory service.
For more information on the directory service, please refer to workflow documentation.

Workflow user decision problem

Hi experts!
I've got a problem on using the user decision in workflow.
i have a workflow with a user decision that has 3 user decision options (basketball, volleyball, and badminton)
Here is the problem:
After i selected one of them and flagged them as finished.
I'd like to loop again with that user decision but the decision options now will be the remaining two and the other one will not be displayed
ex:
BEGINNING
options:
     basketball (selected)
     volleyball
     badminton
AFTER LOOP
options:
     volleyball
     badminton
Here's the question:

i would like to make a workflow with using only one user decision. Based on my thinking i would come up with so many user decisions if i randomly select the decision options.

There is an user exit for customizing our work items but I am afraid that will it be applicable to your requirement. I tried your scenario to pass variables to the user decision, but i failed. Experts please share your views. Is it possible to pass variables to user decisions using user exits?

Oid & workflow users password

did the steps mentioned in metalink to syncrous the users from OID to
standalone workflow. It is work fine after too hard work to setup it. One thing
is missed , is I tried to login to workflow home page thru one of these users
(coming from OID) but I failed.
my question, is the password of OID user same as in workflow after syncrounize?
NOTE: all OID users are in wf_local_users after sysncrouzed.

in Doc id 207225.1 in metalink at "Configuring Single Sign-On for Oracle Workflow" section dads.conf must be configured and setting PlsqlDatabaseUsername and PlsqlDatabasePassword will login to workflow without autintication.
also, if sso login page is used why I should use sysnchrouize , and all user will login to workflow home page as adiminstrator.
