Working with TIMESTAMP fields in Excel

Please forgive me if this is a really stupid question.
I have an Oracle 10g dtabase that i am trying to connect to via ODBC in Excel.
I can get data from tables into MS Query untill i try and insert a TIMESTAMP field when all fails. The TIMESTAMP field ahave a time zone on them.
Can anyone point me in the direction of an ODBC driver which works in this situation, i have tried the standard MS driver and also the ODBC driver supplied by ORACLE.
Thanks in advance for any help.

It would be interesting to know your ODBC driver version.
Basic TIMESTAMP is supposed to be supported but TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE,
TIMESTAMP WITH LOCAL TIME ZONE are not supported.
Do you get the error ORA-932 inconsistant datatypes or another error when you select your Oracle table?
So far as I remember, you can download the ODBC driver from DataDirect :
http://www.datadirect.com/products/odbc/index.ssp
The Datadirect driver seems to handle Timestamp with Time Zone.
Please try with this one and let me know your feedback.

  • Problems While Working With CLOB fields

    HI Friends,
I am facing one big problem while working with CLOB fields. I work in crystal reports in my project and My team is works in BMC Remedy tool. As per database configuration by default the date fields are stored in numbers. There is a field named Work Log which stores the complete history information of a ticket or a call.
While generating reports I convert the date fields from numbers into date values by using to_date function. But I am not able to change the dates mentioned in the worklog which is a CLOB field. As a result when I am generating reports text part of the work log is comming fine but the date fields are comming in numbers.
    Please refer the below example:-

See the first line of the worklog "1291012455anilkumarptesting", 1291012455 is referring a date value, but due to database configuration it's comming in number. All the other numbers in the above text are dates only which need's to be converted. These dates are captured in remedy tool when someone updates that ticket.
I am not able to decide how to change this numbers into dates. As it is containing lot's of numbers i am really confused how to come with a solution.
Can I expect a solution from you, atleast a way how to proceed resolving this problem. Should I have to write a procedure for this??
    Please help..........
Kindly let me know if you need any more input.

1291012455 represents a date value,What date value does it represent? Since it's not obvious to us what date you want that converted into, it's obviously hard for us to help. For example, perhaps you want that to be Jan 29, 2010 with "12455" representing a time component in some non-obvious format. Perhaps you want that to be December 1991 at 1:24:55. Perhaps you want to convert it to a completely different date. You're going to need to tell us in words how to convert your numeric data into a date.
My question is how can I convert all the numbers into date in the CLOB field and present it in a proper manner.Given your sample data, what do you expect the output to be? Do you expect many rows of data, one for every date in the CLOB? Do you expect a comma-separated list? Something else?

  • Working with timestamp data type.

    Hi all!,
I have some problems working with the timestamp data type.
Let's say that i have a table named order, where i store (in two timestamps) the date where the order was made, and the date where the order was executed.
    I want:
    1) first to find the difference between these to timestamps, let me call them a,b,
    2) to find the average time of the difference of timestamps. With that i mean if my table has 60 typles for examples to get (b-a)/60.
    Can these happen?
    Thanks in advance,

I would do this with a view and a stored procedure within oracle.
Create a view that contains the two timestamp fields & the difference between them (along with any primary keys from the original table), then use this view in a stored procedure to average the values.

  • PLSQL join does not work with RAW fields

Hi All, I wanna to do a join between two table which have as primary key a GUID field (RAW 16). To do this I'm creating a cursor and the sql is simple. However, it returns the following error when I try to compile the procedure:

  • Import Wizard with timestamp fields

    Hi there,
I'm trying to copy data with time stamp from one server to another, but I'm keep getting the following error.
Error 0xc0202048: Data Flow Task: Attempting insertion into the row version column "TimeStamp". Cannot insert into a row version column.
(SQL Server Import and Export Wizard)
Is there anyway I can deselect the timestamp field when I run the wizard?
How can I successfully transfer the data?
    Thanks
    regards,
    Mike

Hi, I'm having the same issue even with the On Error column set to 'ignore" in the Data Type Mapping review screen.
I've also seen in the Conversion Details the comment about timestamp vs VarChar, but if I uncheck the Convert column I am unable to run the import.
There must be a way to overcome this?
    Thanks

  • Working with Data Field (XMLTYTPE)

XMLTYPE is a new type of data element I have yet to work with and I am seeking some guidance as how best to approach
this in order to display the contents of these fields.
I have the XSD available to me which I believe I will have to query the contents withing this field and within a outter query.
This may not be an easy task to explain, but if some one is willing to take a stab at it, i'd greatly appreciate any advice given.

  • Select not working with Timestamp

    Hi all
I am badly stuck with a problem related to Date-Time.I have easily inserted a record in oracle DB with date time,so I used Timestamp.Problem comes if I retrieve the record with Timestamp again.I don't know where I am wrong.FYI I used preparedStatement.setTimestamp().
On other hand, just for testing, if I add the record with date only then I am able to get the record back using preparedStatement.setDate().But I want the solution with time.
Is there anyone to raise hand?
For more, the data type is Date in Oracle.I checked the long value of time before inserting & retrieving record is same
    Thanks in advance

In your example, what type of object is myDate?
BTW: I almost always use TO_DATE with my PreparedStatements, but your right you don't and shouldn't have to. Looks like this:
    SELECT * FROM MYTABLE WHERE COLDATE = TO_DATE(?,'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS')
    Then I would use a
    setString(1,'2003-11-01 23:59:59')
This method is certainly not portable but it has always worked for me. However, it is probably more appropriate to use setTimeStamp.

  • Problems with TIMESTAMP Field from SQL Server

    OBIEE 11g
    Hi All,
I want to convert data into OBIEE that is coming from a TIMESTAMP field in SQL Server Database. So in SQL Server field has data like '9/20/2012 12:05:08 AM'. I have first changed the datatype in physical layer to DATETIME and then in BMM I do a CAST(<DATE_FIELD> AS DATE). On the frontend when I use this column the error I get back is [nQSError: 59030] Illegal data type conversion from source type: VARBINARY to target type: TIMESTAMP. (HY000). Does anyone know a workaround or solution.
    Thanks in Advance!

    Hi Guys,
None of the solutions you mentioned have worked unfortunately. I have a date column and another column that holds user id. I basically want to do a count of all the user id's where that particular date column is NULL. I have checked in the physical layer and the date column in question is coming from SQL Server as a TIMESTAMP datatype. So I initially did not change anything and brought the column in as is but that did not work out. I then tried to change the datatype in the physical layer to DATETIME and then also DATE. After changing the datatype in the physical layer in the BMM I would do a CAST(<date column> as DATE) and this still did not work. I then tried to just change the datatype to DATETIME and DATE without doing the CAST in the BMM and this still did not work. Not too sure what to do now.

  • Generic Delta with Timestamp Field

    Dear SDN Team,
We changed one of our HR datasource from FULL to DELTA with Timestamp(TMSTMP)-Time Stamp(UTC).
Which Delta we need to take Timestamp(Local) or Timestamp(UTC)
Our Generic Datasource is based on Function Module. This data source contains HR Hours Data i.e Direct Hours & Indirect Hours.
    With interval settings has
Safety Interval Upper Limit - 'Blank' .
Safety Interval Lower Limit - 1800
New status for Changed Records (Selected)
It is a HR Generic Data Source.
We are creating the records in PA30,PA40 and going to take the records from PA0000,PA0001
Delta type for this DS is "AIE" as our delta type process for our DS.
I am trying to load the INIT to Cube, but its not allowing to load, saying with 'AIE' delta type its not possible to load to cube.
I changed the delta type to 'ADD' then the safety interval limits changed to
    Safety Interval Upper Limit - 1800 .
Safety Interval Lower Limit - Blank.
    Additive Delta (selected)
Is it possible to load the Generic Delta Time stamp to Cube?
Please let us know what are the settings & delta type needs to be there to load the Generic Delta Timestamp to Cube.
    Your suggestions are really appreciated.

  • Cancel button on ADF popup does not work with AutoSubmit Fields

    Hello,
I currently have a very simple form inside of and ADF popup. I the form contains one SelectManyListbox. Here's my issue.
Lets say my form contains option A, B, and C.
Okay I open the popup for the first time, and a select, A and B, and I click cancel. When I open the form again, I would expect no options to be selected. HOwever, that is not the case, the last options I selected, prior to hitting Cancel are still selected.
I was able to fix this issue by setting contentDelivery to "lazyUncached".. However, as soon as I set autoSubmit to "true", the behavior goes back to keeping the selections I made, even if I hit cancel.
    Question :
How can tell the popup to deselect the items that were selected in the SelectManyListbox during the canceled operation of the popup, when autoSubmit is enabled? IN other words, if A and B were selected, and I hit cancel, when I open the popup again, I should see zero items selected in the list.

  • Time Capsule Dual: Working with Excel files in Windows Computer

We just purchased the latest-gen Time Capsule to replace another earlier edition TC and we are having a strange problem. We have three iMacs and one PowerBook G4 connected wirelessly to the TC, along with two Windows XP machines which are wired in to the TC. The issue is that the two WinXP machines cannot view Excel files from the TC. When they try to open and work with an Excel file from the TC, they get a message that there is not enough memory to open, work with, or save any Excel files and it won't let them open the Excel file at all. If they copy the file from the TC to the local WinXP computer, they can open it and work on it just fine. At first I thought the issue would be with the new TC, but I plugged back the old TC and it has the exact same problem. The only commonality between the two is that I foolishly updated the firmware on both to 7.4.1. The old TC was working just fine until I installed 7.4.1, and then it started to have the same problem handling the Excel files.
By the way, none of the Macs have any problems accessing and working on the Excel files off the TC, this only happens to the WinXP machines. Also, it only happens on the Excel files; we have other types of files in the TC and all of them seem to open and work just fine. But Excel is our mainstay so we're looking for a solution, can anyone help?

Same happened to me a while back when i updated the firmware 7.4.1 . the macs were ok but the Windows PC's sharing the Time capsule would not save any excel files as errors like memory too low
etc started to appear. easy way to correct this was to got into airport Utility and downgrade back to 7.3.2 , from the menu , you can select what firmware rev you want to go back to select downgrade to 7.3.2 and everything will work ok after this, remember to deselect auto update and check for firmware in the Airport pref till Apple get this sorted out.
    Cheers ian

  • Generate a new SAP mode maximized and active working with Excel or Word

    Hello!
We have an event that it generates a new SAP mode in the desktop. This mode is generated ok (maximized and active) if the user is working in other SAP mode in this moment.
But this mode is generated minimized if the user is working with a Word or Excel Microsoft document in this moment.
We need to generate this new mode: ACTIVE and MAXIMIZED when the user is working wiht any non SAP tool in that moment. Is this possible??
We have checked the following functions module with  failed results:
    NAVIGATION_EXECUTE_OBJECT
    ECATT_START_GUI_REMOTE
    TH_CREATE_MODE
    Thanks in advance!!

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? (I'm having trouble determining from your "More system information" whether it's enabled or disabled.) Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you restart Firefox, is the issue resolved?
