Workspace-Manager Error-numbers

Hi everybody,
i have an oracle forms-application using Workspace-manager-enabled table. My problem is that i can not handle the WM-errors directly as Exceptions for they are all treated as ORA-06510-exceptions in forms. So i have to go with the error-numbers of the exceptions to cast them to a "meaningful" text. Does anybody know of a list where also the number is listed next to the Exception WM_ERROR_xxx ?
Thanks for your help.

Found the answer by testing:
Raised an DBMS_WM.WM_ERROR_1 and checked sqlcode (-20001) and DBMS_WM.WM_ERROR_282 (-20282) and "guessed" the rest :-)

• Analytic Workspace Manager 9.2.0.4

Hi
When I attempt to create a workspace in Analytic Workspace Manager an error message is displayed saying that the database I am using is not a 9.2.0.2 compatible database and the DBMS_AWM package cannot be found.
I have, however, patched my database to 9.2.0.5. Is Analytic Workspace Manager version 9.0.4 incompatible with Oracle DB version 9.2.0.5?
My environment setup is as follows:
Analytic Workspace Manager (9.2.0.4)
Oracle DB 9i Rel 2 (9.2.0.5)
Windows XP Professional SP 2.
Thanks
Ryan

AWM 9.2.0.4.1 is forward compatible on the 9.2 code stream. It works with the current 9.2.0.5.0 and 9.2.0.6 patch sets. My guess is that the Post Installation steps for the 9.2.0.5.0 patch set were not performed. For example, did the catpatch.sql script run? A lot of people overlook this required step in the readme.
In order to check to see if your patch set was installed correctly, perform the following query:
SQL> select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry;
You should see 9.2.0.5 and VALID for the OLAP components.

• Does Analytic Workspace Manager 11.2.0.3.0A work with oracle database 12c?

hello,
i would like to know if AWM 11.2.0.3.0A works against with oracle database 12c in pdb mode or not .
regards
jm

I have attempted to connect 11g versions of AWM to 12c and get this error:
'This version of Analytic Workspace Manager is incompatible with the database instance. The Analytic Workspace Manager version is 11.2.0.3.0 and the database compatible version is 12.1.0.0.0'
So unfortunately it is not compatible, and there is currently no AWM for 12c
I also contacted Oracle support and they wont give me any information about a release date or any information on the xml template specification for 12c.
I guess we will just have to wait till they release a version of AWM that supports 12c...

• Unable to create dimension in Analytic Workspace manager

Hi all,
I am trying to create dimension using Analytic Workspace Manager(AWM) and it throws the following error.
*"The transaction is not committable: "java.lang.RuntimeException: org.xml.sax.SAXException: Missing XML attribute: Attribute for tag: <Metadata><StandardDimension><Organization><AWPrimaryDimensionOrganization><AttributeOrganization>"*
Kindly share your comments.
I am using Oracle 11g r1 client to connect with oracle 11g R2 database.
Please let me know the steps to create a OLAP cube using AWM
Regards
Mukhil

It sounds like a mismatch between an old version of AWM and a new version of the server. Please try a more recent version of AWM.

• Managing error page

Hi all!
Is there a way to manage error pages [ Error Page. You have encountered an unexpected error. Please contact the System Administrator for assistance.] in OA, cause our customer need to have a page in native language and not in English?! This is a legislative problem in our country (Italy) so we have to provide for changing that text content.
Furthermore is there a way to catch the exception and try to output a context sensitive message for all the users?? (for example --> "Error. You used an invalid datatype. The field must be filled with numbers.")
Thx very much ;)
Sorry but I'm not so confident with all the instruments of Oracle Applications and maybe someone has already met this kind of problems and can give me a help.
Ciao
Jacopo

Hi,
If you look at your coding you will be calling a seeded jsp file or xml file if there is any error occurs.
We can have our own custom exception page, whenever there is an exception occured we can enroute the flow to that custom exception page. We can print the error message in that file..

• Creating Dimension using template in Analytical workspace manager

Hi,
I am rajan, I am working with Oracle's Analytical workspace manager Release 2.
I am trying to create the dimension using the templates from the file. it throws the following error,
The following errors have occurred when loading contents:

Note : I am referring the tutorial in the following URL,

Right now, I am working based on this tutorial only.
Kindly,help me to resolve this issue.
Thanks

Francisco,
Query DBA_REGISTRY to verify the status of "OLAP Analytic Workspace" component.
Also, wait for the script to finish and check the status of the objects then.

• Workspace manager performance

Hi
I'm a Java developper trying to act as a DBA so don't fire !
I'm trying to use the workspace manager on a 21M record DB
on Oracle 10g/Windows.
I'm bulkloading using sqlloader into it. The load phase is done
with good performance (or at least it seems to me), in
about 30 minutes, which is consistent to numbers I get when
I load in a non-version enabled table.
When I do the commitbulkloading though, it takes about 55 minutes
to complete. I realized 2 things:
1- it takes quite a lot of time creating and populating the discards table
with the entire content of the original table (!) - which looks like a bug
to me
2- it spends tremendous amount of time doing:
SELECT count(*)
FROM listings_lt t1, listings_lt t2
WHERE t1.listing_id = t2.listing_id
AND t1.delstatus IS NULL
AND t1.version = 0
AND t2.delstatus IS NOT NULL
where listings_id is my PK on the listings_lt table.
I solved 1 by simply creating the discards table before calling commit -
then it does not create or populate it. But 2 puzzles me. I
specified check_for_duplicates=FALSE in the CommitBulkLoading
API but it did not change anything.
Any ideas to speed things up ?
/zog

Hi,
Yes, #1 does indeed look like a bug. The current workaround to this is to create the discards table before calling commitBulkLoading as you indicated. This will be fixed.
The query in #2 is not used to check for duplicates. It is used to determine if all the keys that are being inserted are unique. There is currently no way to avoid this select, as it is needed internally by the commitbulkloading procedure. To increase its performance, I would recommend to analyze the table using dbms_stats before calling commitbulkloading. However, please note that when bulk loading 21M records into an empty table, this query will require a full table scan.
If that does not help, then post the execution plan for the statement. From that I may be able to determine if something else needs to be done.

Ben

• Analytic Workspace Manager Tutorial

Greetings
I haven't had any luck getting anyone to address this (posted in oracle by example and in Business Intelligence).... the "new" tutorial "Populating Your OLAP Analytic Workspace Using Analytic Workspace Manager" <http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe10gdb/bidw/awm/awm.htm> has a bug on the javascript that loads all images (i.e., "eyeglass"). All other Oracle By Example tutorials pass in a "static" list of images to be loaded into the "MM__swapImage()" function (ref http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe10gdb/bidw/odm/odm.htm) . This "new" tutorial however uses a function called "preLoadImages() in which an array is attempted to be built from the contents of "document.images" this property appears to be empty (perhaps some path issue getting all the images?) .... regardless there is nothing in this property and so subsequently nothing to "preload"... the end result of activating the "onmouseover" event is an "error on page" due to the "newImg.src" array being empty. Can anyone address this?
After no action on my previous efforts I attempted to open a service request on Metalink and of course they sent me back to the forums here.... (suggesting "downloads" and "feedback" forums)

Yes.... that "eyeglass" javascript is the issue....(you will have to do a "view source" on the page to see the javascript functions I'm talking about)....
The "onmouseover" for this eyeglass icon works fine on all the other tutorials, but on this one I get no images, (did you try to download all the images via that javascript?) I get an "error on page" in which the javascript indicates that newImg.src is null..... "newImg.src" is the array where all of the images should be read into....via the function "preLoadImages()", combined with showAllImages(), and hideAllImages(), I'm suspecting that there is an issue with the relative directory on the website or some other path issue realated to the javascript "document" object....
BTW the other tutorials (e.g., http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe10gdb/bidw/odm/odm.htm) seem to use a different method.... instead of the "preLoadImages()" function they all seem to staticly pass all images into MM__swapImage() for this same "onmouseover" event

• Analytic workspace version error

I am running 10g on WinXP. I am using AWM 10.1.0.4
I connect to the db and am able to view my schemas.
When I attempt to create a Workspace in "Model View" I recieve the error
"ORA-00904: "O"."SF_VERSION": invalid identifier"
Do I need an earlier version of AWM?
Thanks in Advance

It appears you might have an issue with 'C' below. Here is a checklist to make sure your Oracle Database is properly configured to run with Analytic Workspace Manager 10.1.0.4:
A) Make sure you have the Enterprise Edition of the Oracle Database 10g.
SQL> select banner from v$version where banner like 'Oracle%';
You should see Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition.
B) Make sure you have the Data Warehouse database configuration or the OLAP Option enabled.
SQL> select parameter, value from v$option where parameter='OLAP';
You should see OLAP TRUE.
C) Make sure the RDBMS 10.1.0.4 patch set has been completely installed. Users often miss the required Post-Installation Steps such as running catpatch.sql.
SQL> select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry;
You should see VALID and 10.1.0.4.0 for the OLAP components.
D) The Oracle Database must have the compatibility mode of 10.1 to use the new Model View in Analytic Workspace Manager 10.1.0.4.0 as it relies on the unique features found in Oracle Database 10g.
SQL> select name, value, description from v$parameter where name ='compatible';
You should see 10.1, not 9.2 or earlier.

Hi Mats,
Workspace Manager does not yet support version enabling of object tables. We will fix WM to raise a better error message.

• Import Log shows Incompatible version of Workspace Manager Installed

Hi,
I did an export of my DB using oracle 10.2.0.3 in Windows 2003 R2, I am trying to import the DB in Oracle 10.2.0.4 on Windows 2008 Server.

ORA-20000: Incompatible version of Workspace Manager Installed
Is it safe to continue the import? Do I need to do any post import configuration to solve the above error message.
Question 2
I have few notes in the log which states, is it because of the above error message or can I ignore these notes
Note: table contains ROWID column, values may be obsolete 0 rows imported

There are posts on the OLAP forum covering this problem. Anthony Waite from the OLAP Product Management team has provided the following information:
e new, default Model View in AWM 10.1.0.4.0 is based upon the OLAP Analytic Workspace API (a.k.a. AW/XML). Just to recap and further clarify my earlier post, you must pass the following requirements in order to use it:
1) Be sure to be using the Enterprise Edition of the Oracle Database 10g.
SQL> select banner from v$version where banner like 'Oracle%';
You should see Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition.
2) Be sure to have the Data Warehouse database configuration or the OLAP Option enabled.
SQL> select parameter, value from v$option where parameter='OLAP';
You should see OLAP TRUE.
3) Be sure that the RDBMS 10.1.0.4 patch set has been completely installed. Users often miss the required Post-Installation Steps such as running catpatch.sql.
SQL> select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry;
You should see VALID and 10.1.0.4.0 for the OLAP components.
4) The Oracle Database must have the compatibility mode of 10.1 to use the Model View as it relies on the unique features found in Oracle Database 10g.
SQL> select name, value, description from v$parameter where name ='compatible';
You should see 10.1, not 9.2 or earlier.
5) Please refer to the patchnote.htm that is bundled with 10.1.0.4.0 patch set. Only you are aware of what type of database configuration you have. You will want to pay close attention to "7.2.1.3 Set the SHARED_POOL_SIZE and JAVA_POOL_SIZE Initialization Parameters" and "7.2.2 Upgrade the Release 10.1 Database".
Basically, I believe you have missed these required steps after installing the 10.1.0.4.0 patch set from the OUI: (pasted from the patchnote.htm)

Can you check if these 3 files exist in %SystemRoot%\system32:
- JavaAccessBridge.dll
- WindowsAccessBridge.dll
- JAWTAccessBridge.dll
These are libraries for JAWS (for screen readers). Not sure where you can download these libraries from but this might be the issue.

• Oracle 10g analysis workspace manager

I'm looking for a weblink to install Oracle 10g analysis workspace manager.
I'm not sure whether it's available for free download.
Can someone help me?..
Thanks,
Bhagat

Hey;
Thanks again for the response. I tried dropping the repository and got a whole bunch of errors. While attempting to enable the sysman account, I realized that my password contained some characters that have special meaning for oracle and I think that's what was throwing it. The errors with the repository convinced me to try one more reinstall. Bit overkill, perhaps, but that's the whole point of a practice box. Once the database was up and running, teh enterprise manager is fully functional.
Now that I think about it, I wonder if that password could be responsible for my other schema issue as well...
Thanks again; I appreciate your time and patience.
