WPC - Select Content Layout

We just applied Patch 1 of SP14 to fix the issue with transports of pages that include portal iviews. This problem has been resolved, but we are no longer able to select the content layout of content within a page. The menu option is greyed out. Selections that were made before the patch was applied have now reverted back to the default layout.   Selections that were made before the patch was applied is being remembered though.
Is there some additional configuration that needs to be done?
Here's the entry from the log that seems to indicate some problem. Has anyone seen this issue?

Hello Jego.
We faced the same issue after upgrade to EHP1 SP07 last week and managed to solve it by modification of layout.jsp and com.sap.nw.wpc.layoutmanager.LayoutBean within com.sap.nw.wpc.designtime.par. SAP's code requires an additional catch handler, so it is better to rise an OSS message.
As a workaround you may change a default layout for wpc main page (good for new pages) or manually edit output.xml for existing pages.

Creating a new WPC Content Layout for a Link List

Hello all,
As I've been lurking about the innards of Web Page Composer, I noticed that the Link List contains two different XSLTs for it representing different "Content Layouts".
Has anyone added a new Content Layout for an item? If so would they happen to have some high level steps on accomplishing it? It doesn't appear to be as difficult as some of the other custom configurations in adding new content types and new forms. So far I suspect the steps are:
Create the new XSLT and upload to KM.
Go to System Admin/System Configuration/KM/CM/Editor/Stylesheets/Stylesheets and hook up the XSLT to the engine
Go to System Admin/System Configuration/KM/CM/Editor/Stylesheets/Stylesheet Groups/Document Styles Groups and add the stylesheet to the lists group.
Bounce the Portal
That seems to be it, but it would shock me if it was all that was required.
Any thoughts?

So I answered my own question.
It is as simple as I listed above. To create a new list rendering:
Simply create the new XSLT and stick it under /etc/wpceditor/styles
Then create the StyleSheet reference under: System Admin/System Configuration/KM/CM/Editor/Stylesheets/Stylesheets.
Then add the StyleSheet reference to the "lists" group.
Bounce the portal.
You'll have a new option when you select the style.

How to check selected content on page

Hi all,
I would like to create plugin that works with selected content on document. Plugin should do following: user selects some frame, graphic content that is placed on document. Than he opens my plugin and click on button. After button click I must check if something is selected (it would be only graphic items, not table and text), then I would like to get information (on which page is placed, is in the frame picture, dimension of frame...) from selected item. So I would like to ask you what is the best approach for that.
Right now I have selection manager and from that I get ILayoutSelectionSuite and dont know what to do next, I have been looking thru adobe documents, but didnt find any article about it...

I have a little problem with calling my selection suite. I have following hierarchy:
In STButtonAction I handle button clicks, when user select button I would like to chech is is something selected and if yes, than I would like to get from that selection some information about it. I placed in ASB virtual method called MyTestMethod(ISelectionManager *myManager), in Layout CSB I wrote its implementation:

Can't see the Presentation menu in order to select the layout of a folder

I have created an external repository manager (of type WebDAV). I want to personalize the presentation of folders by selecting a layout. When I select a specific folder, click on Details->Settings I don't see the Presentation menu action. I see only Properties and Permissions. (Shouldn't I also be able to see Subscription, Versioning action menus?). In the permissions, the group 'Everyone' has full permissions to the folder. Am I missing something?

service permissions (in this example the service permission "Layout") are required only when setting a default depiction for all users. I am trying to personalize the folder only for my user id. According to the documentation, I don't need any service permissions, I need only read permission on the folder (which I do have).
My problem is that when I go to the Details tab for the folder, I don't see any layout profile. Any other ideas?
and by the way, I do not see the menu item Service Permissions when clicking the Settings menu. I have activated the layout and serviceacl services in the KM Repository Manager for the folder.

HTML content layout substitution tags

We have a multi-language Portal 10.1.4 and use HTML content layout substitution tags in a HTML Template. The problem is that we would like to use the ITEM.PUBLISHDATE.LABEL and the ITEM.UPDATESDATE.LABEL tags but the text rendered isn't exactly what we would like to get (f.e. in English it's 'Publish Date' and in French it's 'Date de mise à jour').
I looked in the documentation and found that the text rendered correspond to the display name of the attribut (not 100% sure of this). But, those attributs are in the Shared Objects and we can't modify them.
1. We would like to modify the display name of those attributs (both in French and in English) or find any other way to make it.
2. We also want to apply an other format to the date retreived with the ITEM.PUBLISHDATE.VALUE and the ITEM.UPDATEDDATE.VALUE tags.
Can someone help us with those issues ?

Yes, we added languages in the Translation tab of the shared object pagegroup properties.

Developers Sample, Content | Layout bar

Ok, this is a weird question, but here goes. Looking over the template files for the content | Layout link bar, I can't find for the life of me what file actually calls it! I use JSPTabContainer & JSPEditContainer, and have found a few references to it in the files themselves, but never have been able to find the file that actually controls it's content (I want to adjust the code myself).

Eureka, that's it! Next question. What file calls this code? You were 100% correct, that is the file I want, but I am also curious as to moving it from the top of the developers sample to the bottom, so I need to find out what "higer-level" file is including it.
Somewhat related question: Is there any documentation on how the "templating" system works? Looking over the portal documentation really has given me much help. I figured out the theme sysetm by just pouring over the files, but there are just too many folder and files to understand the "desktop" scheme and how the different portions are organized (Perhaps even documentation on creating a desktop from scratch. Currently, as you can probably guess, I am starting with the developer sample desktop and modifying it piece by piece until I get what I need). Any other docs out there that might be of some assistance?

Read Dynamic Selection contents of a Variant for QE51N

Need your help here !
In my report, I wish to read the Variants along with their contents created for transaction QE51N.
I tried using function module RS_VARIANT_CONTENTS and its working good, but not to my requirements. The function module returns only the selection screen contents of a given variant. It does not return the contents in 'Dynamic Selection' (Free Selection).
I read somewhere that the function module returns dynamic selection contents only if the report use Logical Database. To my understanding, the program for QE51N (SAPLQEES) do not use LDB.
So is there any way by which I can get dynamic selection contents of a variant?
Any suggestions / pointers would be a great help.

Bug in HTML Content Layout ?

I'm facing something weird...
I've created an HTML Content Layout to display ITEMS on my own way.
If i want to display the CREATEDATE like this
htp.p('#ITEM.CRETEDATE.VALUE#');
or like this
htp.p(to_date('#ITEM.CRETEDATE.VALUE#', 'DD/MM/YY'));
everything's correct.
But if i want to display the PUBLISH_DATE like this :
htp.p('#ITEM.PUBLISHDATE.VALUE#'); ---> OK
but
htp.p(to_date('#ITEM.PUBLISHDATE.VALUE#', 'DD/MM/YY')); ---> returns nothing !
Same behaviour with my own "DATE attribute".
htp.p(to_date('#ITEM.MYDATE.VALUE#', 'DD/MM/YY')); returns nothing...

I think the problem is that the publish date includes date AND time so you'll need to also add the time format when doing TO_DATE. Then you can TO_CHAR it to whatever format you want to show, if you want it different than the default for your system. In the following, I'm changing the date format on our system to be shown as DD/MM/YYYY w/o the time.

HTML Content Layout

I'm currently using Oracle Portal 10.1.4.2.0. I've built an HTML content layout to display my document/item content in the style and layout I want and all is working fine. I now have a requirement where a user is to upload a lot of content at one time using a zip file. I need to have the "unzip" link displayed next to the file name as is designed in portal. However, the link does not display because I do not have this as part of my template. So my question is, how do I get this link into my layout template? Is there a substitution string for the unzip? If so, I can't find it.

In the initial screen of your report, if you have field "Disply layout", you can select the layout from there and make the variant with othe initial input values.
When you define the batch job with SM36, at that time you can select your saved variant.
btw, Which standard report Are you using? This information will help us to give accurate inputs from ourside.

'select content delta' option in bw statistics installation?

What is the significance of 'select content delta'? I am trying to install bw statistics datasources from business content. In the document link given below it is specified to use this option. when I am using that option and trying to install it is displaying that the extract structure of one of the datasource is invalid. The same option can also be seen on the top in RSA5.

It can be seen in the 43rd page.

This option compares datasources from RSA5 (available in content) and RSA6 (already activated in the system) and gives you the delta, i.e, tells us which datasources are not yet activated in the system.

Serious help with "Syncing selectable content" please...

This is a fairly large concern for me right now regarding my Apple TV since I didn't really buy ATV to stream anything, so I would be so grateful for some help because the Apple sources I've consulted doesn't go into detail on this feature.
I have my ATV set for everything (movies/TV Shows/etc.) to "Sync selected content" because I don't have enough space on my Macs' HD to fit all my video content on it at once, so what I'm doing is Syncing it to ATV's hard drive to store it for future watches and then deleting it off of my Mac's HD. Well I synced the 1st movie well and fine (took a bit, but that's another whole thing) looked really good and played great so I stopped it very pleased and took it off of my HD on my Mac and started to sync the next movie. Well now the 1st movie is gone. Great. I'm syncing selectable conent, why is it still mirroring my iTunes library? This should work like Manually updating an iPod where I don't need to have everything in my iTunes for it to be on my iPod HD; correct? I mean ATV has a 40gb hard drive for a reason: so that I can store content locally on it. Some help ASAP would be great. I'm a bit confused and frustrated right now. Thank you all.

That's not how it works. It's more like the hard drive on the AppleTV is a temporary holding place for material that is in your iTunes library. The intention is to allow you to play stuff without having your computer turned on all the time. But it is assumed that all the material is stored in your library.

HTML Content Layout Tables

I need to set up a new HTML Content Table Layout. I can get the table set up, but I can't get the header to not repeat. Does anyone know how to set up a table layout with a non repeating header?

HTML Content layout repeats for each item in the region. You should set the header above the content region seperately.
