Write serial data directly to file

I am using DasyLab 9. I am reading a com port for serial data. if i issue the command to output a log of stored data from the RSMASTER when the program is not running I get all the data that is in the log. however, when I run the program and send the received strings to a global variable, a$1\r and log it to a file using a message module when the string changes I dont get all the data, there are one out of 10 lines missing. so I would like to output directly to a file or maybe there is a better way to set up the log so that i dont miss data while I am writing to the file.

What is the time base of the module that feeds the Action module? That may determine the update rate -- it should be faster than you expect the data to change.
There's also a question of whether the RS232->string is always catching the string.
Rather than use String changed, you may want to use a timer function for the input to the Action, and write regularly.
Is the string alphanumeric? If so, there aren't many choices for logging to a file. You can log strings via ODBC, but it has the same limitation of the Action module response time.

  • Write the data into a file in 10 ms interval within 10 sec

    Hi,
    I'm trying to write the data into a file when I press a OK button and the data should write in a file every 10ms interval. After pressing the OK button the process will stop after 10 sec.
    I've attached my VI.
    Problem is that I'm getting the result every ms. How can I get the data every 10ms? So it'll come 1000 data within 10 sec.
    For other calculations purpose I'm using Amplitude and Level Measurements block to get the mean DC voltage, so when I change the Samples to Read and Rates, the process is getting stuck.
    Any kind of suggestion is appreciable.
    Thanks,
    Chotan

  • Write xmp data to video file

    I would like to somehow write some xmp data (timecode, camera, shutter speed, aperature) to my video files in an automated fashion without using Adobe Bridge. I want to do this so Adobe Premiere and Adobe Bridge can be able to read this data directly from my media files. This seems like a simply thing to want to do but it's proven very difficult. I have not found any commandline utilities that can write xmp data to a video file (exiftool doesn't support it). I have also found that Premiere in most of the time doesn't like to read sidecar xmp files which I can produce easily.
    Any ideas?

    Unfortunately I'm on windows. What I was looking for is adding timecode xmp start code to *.mov files from Canon 7d or 5d so I have timecode to use throughout Premiere which would make my editing much easier as we shoot approximately 100 video clips in the wedding ceremony and need to edit that in multicam w/ 2 other cameras running the entire time.
    I did some more research and was able to add this metadata using xmp to the MOV files however unfortunately premiere completely ignores this data. Seems like premiere only accepts using timecode data for DV or MXF files and no others (tested CS5 and CS5.5). What a shame! It seems like this should be much easier thing to do. I know it's pretty easy using FCP and if Adobe is really trying to lure away FCP users, they should get something this basic running smoothly.

  • Write jTable data into a file

    Hi All ,
    I am preparing a Java Swing GUI , In this i have a jTable . Whenever a user writes data into that jTable , the written data should fall in a file .Please tell me the code how to write this jTable data into a file .
    Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    Don't do that. Why would you want to rewrite the entire file (since you can't really selectively edit it) if just storing (maybe serializing) the table's data model when the application is exiting or an explicit saving is requested by the user would be enough?

  • How to write binary data to browser - File Save dialog

    Hi,
    problem:
    i have a working webservice and i get binary data from that webservice.
    my dynpro java  already works and i have byte[] b which has my binary result.
    what i want:
    when the user clicks on the button, the action onActionGetResult() is executed and inside this method, the byteArray b exists. what can i do, to say the dynpro application that it should  send the binary data direct to the browser, so that the "File Save Dialog" appears and the user can save the file to the harddisk
    any ideas?

    I've found the solution:
    IWDWindow window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(
    res.getUrl(WDFileDownloadBehaviour.ALLOW_SAVE.ordinal()),
    res.getResourceName());
    window.show();
    this worked for me

    Go to Solution.

    You put the Write to Spreadsheet file in a case structure.

  • Reand and write object data to / from file

    Hi
    I have my application data stored in a hierarchical set of objects. I want to store that information to a file and later retrieve it to objects again. The object data consists of Strings, Doubles, etc., but it may contain other data as images. How can I implement this?
    Can someone point me out in the right direction? I have seen a serializable approach, but I don't know if it's the right option for me.
    Thanx!

    I'd still say that's your best bet (unless you feel you need a table and JDBC). As for image data, unless you're going to manipulate them and change their contents, just put them in a folder and use a MediaTracker

  • Write acquire data time to file

    Hi
    I attached my TIME.VI. another vi is sub vi. Sub vi is read real time using second unit.
    I just try to read time for acquiring data.
    When I pressed acquire data button, I hope time can begin from 0 then written in file. Right now , my program is not from zero.
    Thank you for your help.
    Hope you can help me check my vi.

    I'm still confused.
    Are you saying you want your time 0 to be the moment you hit the acquire button as opposed to the time the VI starts?
    If so, you need to take the time when the acquire button first turns true and store that in a shift register to subtract from future times as opposed to using the value coming in from the tunnel that is taken when the VI first starts.

  • By a sub VI, Writing data countinously to file by a ''Write' button in Main VI??

    Good morning...day  to all !
    I've made a program, where I'm reading data generated by a device connected to a com port. These data are red from the port to an indicator buffer and then, into a file when a button, " write file" are pressed. I've placed the 'WriteDataToFile.VI' in a Sub VI placed in Main VI.
    When my Main Program starts and I switch a start button, a file dialog box opens, so I can choose an existing file or a new file to write data to!
    I want to Make a Button named  " Write file" so when pressed , the Dialog box opens and I can choose a file to write to.
    In that way I can avoid the Self pop up dialog box.
    I've spended the hole weekend  trying doing that, but no succes. The biggist problem by that is:
     To write a continously to a file I  also need to continously read the data from the port, And because of that, I got to write the data to a file as quickly as possible when Red from the port. So I gotta put the WriteDataToFile.VI 'sub', in the ReadData:vi 'Sub'. By that I always get the Dialog box poped up, by each while loop iteration. Just because the Software to the open Dialog Box (Write file), is placed in the ReadDataVI, Sub.
    Please Help me with that Guys , girls, any one, also peoble from Mars To!
    Attachements !!

    Hi Zamzam,
    I think the point you should work on is the architecture of your whole application, LabVIEW has very well designed templates.
    If you go to new >> new... >> vi from template >> frameworks >> design pattern >> user interface event handler
    It is a very robust architecture with which you can draw cases for (almost) any kind of event such as a click on a button.
    in your application, you could choose the file to write on the first run, then put the file refnum in a shift register and add an event case handled by the "write to file" button that writes the acquired datas.
    You could even go further and set that "wite fo file" case on other event, for instance new data from the port com.
    wooopps... I tried to be as clear as I could but english is not my natural language , so please tell me you need some more help

  • How to create a procedure in oracle to write the data into file

    Hi All,
    I am just wondered on how to create a procedure which will do following tasks:
    1. Concat the field names
    2. Union all the particular fields
    3. Convert the date field into IST
    4. Prepare the statement
    5. write the data into a file
    Basically what I am trying to achieve is to convert one mysql proc to oracle. MySQL Proc is as follows:
    DELIMITER $$
    USE `jioworld`$$
    DROP PROCEDURE IF EXISTS `usersReport`$$
    CREATE DEFINER=`root`@`%` PROCEDURE `usersReport`(IN pathFile VARCHAR(255),IN startDate TIMESTAMP,IN endDate TIMESTAMP )
    BEGIN
    SET @a= CONCAT("(SELECT 'User ID','Account ID','Gender','Birthdate','Account Registered On') UNION ALL (SELECT IFNULL(a.riluid,''),IFNULL(a.rilaccountid,''),IFNULL(a.gender,''),IFNULL(a.birthdate,''),IFNULL(CONVERT_TZ(a.creationDate,'+0:00','+5:30'),'') INTO OUTFILE '",pathFile,"' FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '' LINES TERMINATED BY '\n' FROM account_ a where a.creationDate>='",startDate,"' and a.creationdate <='",endDate,"')");
    PREPARE stmt FROM @a;
    EXECUTE stmt;
    DEALLOCATE PREPARE stmt ;
    END$$
    DELIMITER ;
    Regards,
    Vishal G

    1. Concat the field names
    Double Pipe (||) is the concatenation operator in Oracle. There is also a function CONCAT for this purpose
    2. Union all the particular fields
    Not sure what do you mean by UNION ALL particular fields? UNION ALL is a set operation applied on two different result sets that have the same projection.
    3. Convert the date field into IST
    SQL> select systimestamp "Default Time"
      2       , systimestamp at time zone 'Asia/Calcutta' "IST Time"
      3    from dual;
    Default Time                                       IST Time
    05-05-15 03:14:52.346099 AM -04:00                 05-05-15 12:44:52.346099 PM ASIA/CALCUTTA
    4. Prepare the statement
    What do you mean by prepare the statement?
    5. write the data into a file
    You can use the API UTL_FILE to write to a file.

  • Write Text Data Array to text file

    Greetings all. I hope someone can help me as I am really under the gun. The attached vi shows the basics of what I am trying to do. I have already written a vi that takes the Cal Data Array and prints it out in a nicely formatted report. My problem is that the powers that be also want the data saved to a generic text file that can be copied and printed out anywhere they like. As such, I need to save the data to a generic text file in column format such that it will all fit on one page in landscape mode. There are a total of 12 columns of data. I have been trying to create something that would format each column to a specific length instead of them all being the same. No luck so far. Basically, I need columns 1,2,3,8 and 12 to be length of 5. The rest a length of 9. I have tried to place the formatting part in a for loop with the formatting in a case, but it does not appear to work. I really need this quick so if anyone has any ideas, please help. As always, I really appreciate the assistance.
    Thanks,
    Frank

    pincpanter's is a good solution. Beat me to it while I was away building an example. Similiar approach using two for loops and case statement. Here is my suggestion anyway....
    cheers
