Write to socket hange the process
Hi, my program uses sockets. All is fine, but when the other side suddenly shut downs, my process
stays hung into the write system call. According to pStack, my process is also stuck on the
close system call (Since it noticed that the other side was shut down). What happeded ? did the process entered some deadlock because trying to close a socket that is trying to write to it??
I can't even receive any terminating signals, when normally I receive them with no problem.
Please help!!!
This is what I get, what do you get:

How to set the number of sockets for batch processing at runtime?
Hello all,
I need to change the execution model at runtime. I have achieved this by setting the 'ModelPath' property of the sequence file at runtime. When I set the sequence file model as batchmodel, i need to set the number of test sockets also dynamically. How can this be done? Once i set the number of sockets, i would also have to set the UUT serial number for each socket. Please help me out in solving this.
Thanks and Regards
Madhu Srinivasan.Hi Madhu,
You can do this by inserting a sequence file callback into your main sequence and choose the ModelOptions callback. You can then use the expression step to set the "Parameters.ModelOptions.NumTestSockets" value to whatever you want. If you then use the Test UUTs execution entry point you will be prompted for serial numbers automatically. You could also use this same procedure but alter the ModelOptions callback in the process model directly, either way works just as well but I think that using a sequence file callback gives a bit more flexibility in the system.
Hope this helps,

every time I repair my iPod with iTunes, it hangs at the end of the process (while checkin the recovery of iPod). What can I do?
I chose to restore it to factory defaults, but that never succeeded.
It hangs at the end of the process.
printscreen:
http://users.telenet.be/kevvanbelle/iPod/ipod.JPG
Language is Dutch :-)
Littery it says:
Check of Recovery of iPod.
Already for 40 minutes.
I closed down iTunes.
Now, when I turn on my iPod, there is the icon of iTunes with an usb cable towards it.
When I attach it to my computer and turn on iTunes, the message is there that a iPod was stuck in recovery mode and I should retry it.
And then I get the same story. Unpacking, installing, checking... blocked! -
PLEASE HELP ! While updating My Xperia Z1 , my pc hanged during the process and .
While updating My Xperia Z1 , my pc hanged during the process ( so , installation of update was interrupted , guess it's same as getting your USB connection disconnected )and now the phone won't turn on .
Its shows the Sony Xperia logo , then shows a black lit screen , and that's it , nothing else happens . I can only turn it off by pressing and holding the power+up volume button , but it turns on automatically if plugged in for charging or in PC only till it gets that black screen .
I tried to flash it with a flashtool (Emma) , but it says phone locked , but since it can't even be turned on , i can't unlock it .
It's a store bought phone and is not of any contracts with any mobile service provider or anything like that ....
Funny you know ... my PC had to crash at the moment i was updating it .... my luck ....
Anyways , now please can anyone tell me what i can do ? I'm sure there is a way i can fix it using my pc and other downloadable software , so please can some one help me how i can fix this problem ? I don't care if i lose all the data on it , i just want my phone back ....
Solved!
Go to Solution.Problem Solved ,Thank you very much !!
For those who might face the problem and stumble upon this thread after googling
Read above mentioned comments
Now here's what I did :
Turned the phone off by power+volume key method , then plugged it in to the pc via USB and opened sony pc companion , entered Support zone , then entered the Update device option , then I Unplugged my device , only after doing this a window pops up with Repair my phone/tablet in blue text , then i clicked on that and followed the simple instructions ..
It's basically what Thommo said , only i was so freaked out at that time that i failed to follow his instructions to the letter
So now my phone is back to normal , and , it got the latest lolipop update !
Problem solved i guess but Thommo , i need to disturb you again with just one more question , since at the very beginning , the update process was interrupted , and now i got lolipop after the repair ,without needing to update again , so has the lollipop been installed properly on my phone or do i need to use any other flashtool to re-install lollipop ?
again , Thank you ... -
II recently purchased this 21.5 inch iMac in the month of February. The woman that helped me through the process of purchasing this told me that it comes with the latest Mountain Lion. which it did, but i cant write a review in the app store! Help...
You want to write a review about Mountain Lion? I'm not sure that you can write about the OS at the app store - it's not an app. Or are you talking about the online Apple store? If you want to send feedback to Apple, you could use this:

When exporting few videos, the process hangs randomly. The processor performance is 0 % and the lightroom says it is working (actually it is not). I have to quit lightroom, kill all processes like amecommand.exe, Adobe Media Core, Adobe Dynamic Link Manager and restart the process. It stops randomly.
I am exporting ALL-I videos from Canon 5D mark III, into H264, high quality.
PS: The same situation was with Lightroom 4.Hello,
i have the same problem on LR5.5 on Win 7 (8G RAM)
Thank you for any help.

Sockets write/close operations hangs application
Hi!
I've got a trouble with my web-application. It'a s chat system, that uses Keep-Alive connections for messages output and that recieves messages through another socket.
Everything is fine with receiving messages. But after message is received, I need to send it to all recepients. So, I use Socket.write() method. If writing is failed, or user is logged off, I use Socket.close().
Problem is, that sometimes Socket.write() and Socket.close() are blocking their threads.
How can I avoid such a blocking behaviour?
If I'll rewrite everything to use not sockets, but socket channels, can it help to solve my problem?
Thanks. If writes are blocking it can only mean that readers aren't reading. Fix that, and forget about the syncrhonization suggestion which is nonsense.
You can also use NIO in non-blocking mode to avoid blocking in writes, and it does lead to more scalable applications, but be prepared for about a 10x increase in complexity. -
Download will not go completely through the process. Usually hangs at 1 sec
I was having trouble with words disappearing from my icons and toolbars so I uninstalled firefox. Now I cannot re install a version of firefox. It hangs with 1 sec left in the process.
It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"

How to handle when Client and server write to the socket at the same time
Hi all,
I'm writing a socket communication when client and server may write information the the socket at the same time. I look every where but the samples from the internet only shows example of server replies to client after receiving requests from clients.
Let's say that:
Client 1 ->Socket 1 -> Server 1
Now if there are two threads in the server, one blocked waiting for the input from client on socket 1, the second one write something on the socket to client 1, is it possible?
And if it's possible, if at the time Server 1 writes information to Client 1, Client 1 writes some information to Server 1 too, will there be any conflict problem or the socket could handle that two ways communication simultaneously?
It's critical questions for me. Thanks for your help.I really use Server Client paradigm. However, beside the request, response mechanism, there is also an additional mechanism called update which server periodically send information update to client without the need for a request from client.
So you suggest client should initiate 2 sockets, one for request and response, one for receiving update from the server? Will this work? -
I can not upgrade the iOS on my phone, nor sync the phone because the process starts with backing up the phone which always hangs up at the backing up stage and then will not allow further progress.
And for this I guess that it is the backing up of my Podcasts - which are free downloads that causes the hang up. These are items that I have played and synced before without issues. I am thinking this way because these are Podcasts that I used to play but sundenly would not play on my iPhone. Each time I try to play anyone of them it generates the message - this movie could not be played.
I am scared of atempting a system restore because I guess I may lose my SMS for the past two months. Please approach the solution from this point of view.
Thanks
JoePlease refer to this thread.

It may have something to do with one of your backup files that has been corrupted before. -
i was try to upgrade my iphone 3gs via iTunes but it is not activate.what are the process to upgrade ? now it is showing black screen to select country then finally write unable to activate.
Is there a sim in the iPhone?
Has the iPhone been jailbroken or modified to work with other
than the original wireless provider?
If you can get that far, what does it say when you look at

How can I log the process id associated to a local socket blocked by the PF firewall?
Hi,
There seem to be a problem with mac OSX PF firewall logging capabilities.
I am trying to find the process id associated with a connection attempt blocked by PF. I am replicating, in a way, the feature found in a commercial firewall caled "Little Snitch"
This is the method I have tried so far:
1- I wrote a new pf config file with a ruleset that blocks all outbound connection attempts and logs it (see my ruleset at the bottom)
2- I create the pflog0 interface
sudo ifconfig pflog0 create
3- I load the new pf config file
sudo pfctl -d && sudo pfctl -f ./mypf.conf && sudo pfctl -e
4- I log the blocked packet and try to retrieve the process names
sudo tcpdump -n -e -vvv -ttt -i pflog0 > mypf.log
OR
sudo tcpdump -n -s0 -w ./mypf.pcap
Either way, none of my "mypf.log" or "mypf.pcap" files contains any information about the processes.
Any idea how I could log the PID of the processes?
##my ruleset mypf.conf
##MACRO
host_if = "en0"
##OPTIONS
set loginterface $host_if
set debug misc
set skip on lo
##RULES
#I dont want to log all incomming connection, I just want to block it by default
block in all
#I want to log all attempts from processes to establish a connection outside
block out log (user) allHmmm....
Your story is familiar - many folks here are somewhat bewildered by the
technology that keeps coming up in their faces when they think that this
process should be a simple one. It SHOULD be, but....
SONY Reader software for your PC is designed to 'captivate' you so that
your ereader will function well with their store. It is, in essence, their
way of managing your elibrary. And it's proprietary to SONY. You can add
ebooks to it in a similar way that you can add them to ADE. Since we're an
ADE forum, I don't have those steps in my reference file - sorry.
As you've explained it, DRM protection is really not the issue here. ADE's
way of managing the relationship between you and the ebook is to keep track
of who did the original download in a small ID file embedded in the ebook.
ADE is telling you that your husband downloaded the ebook in question, and
that you're not able to read it with your own ID. The SONY message is
essentially the same thing, but in different and confusing wording, which
makes you believe that DRM protection is getting in your way. That's
probably not true, because you're not getting a 'No Permission To Copy
Here' message from ADE - their way of telling you that the digital rights
assigned by the publisher, distributor or author will prevent you from
making a copy. Shame on SONY for confusing the issue!
What you can try is to deauthorize ADE by using the CNTLSHIFTD keys
together after it opens and is waiting for you to do something. Then,
close ADE. When you reopen ADE, it will ask you to authorize it, and you
can put your husband's ID in. ADE now thinks you are your husband, and
will let you access all of his ebooks. You can copy them to your ereader
at this point and then open them to read - assuming that there really is no
DRM protection that prohibits the copy.
There's more, but let's take this one step at a time, eh?

You can cancel the process by using deadline branch. No need of control step in the deadline branch. If your wants he can implement the control step to raise the exception or alert. Please correct me if I am wrong
thanks
kumarTo cancel the process...The only available step is "Control Step"......
When you use the deadline branch,it only raises the exception....It means it just intimates that exception has occured...Now its your duty to handle that...the handler you use here is "Control Step"...
If you don't raise any exception your BPM will be hanging out there with error and your system resources will be wasted....
Let me explain you using simple template...
In Java...you use..
try{
if(some codntion)
Throw exception abc
catch
if(exception abc)
cancel the process
So "block" step is like try block...time you specify in deadline branch is condition...if it satisfied you are throwing the exception abc (thats the timeout exception for us)and the code you write in the catch block is handler for that exception...thats nothing but control step in our case...
Hope this explains...

IE 10/11 does not free up, hangs - unkillable process
Hi!
I have a problem with IE since about 2 years now. IE does not close/exit correctly, i have always to do a system reboot!
IE 9 worked fine, never had a problem with this version. Since v10 and now v11 i cannot close IE completely. If i close the open tabs and exit IE, the program window closes, but there are still one or more 'iexplore.exe *32' processes running in the background
(with massive RAM consumption - non growing). I always try to kill the open process(es), with no luck, it will not exit! I can restart IE again and can use it, but after exiting the hanged processes are still running. So i have always to do a system
restart several times a day. This is unacceptable!
I tried following things till now to get rid of the problem (nothing worked!):
- starting/using IE 32bit with/without addons, IE 64bit (forced mode) with/without addons.
- un-/reinstalling Flash v10/v11/v12/v13/v14/v15
- trying to kill 'iexplore.exe' and 'iexplore.exe *32' with "Windows Task Manager", "Process Explorer", "Process Hacker", "System Explorer", "Advanced Process Termination", "taskkill.exe", "pskill.exe",
"killprocess.exe", "process.exe"
My PC:
