Writing a file to the server using an applet...?

Hi,
I've been searching the web now for almost a day trying to find some help in how to do this... The biggest problem is that I'm kind of a newbie (not a total beginner, but this is the first time I've ventured into applet creation)
What I'm trying to do is writing a simple web-page updater... i.e. This is what it should be able to do:
1) Read HTML page and parse it so that I can change the important parts (the info on the page, not the actual HTML code) - DONE
2) Present the information and let the user change it as (s)he sees fit - DONE
3) generate the new HTML and write it back as a file on the server (replacing the old one) -- PROBLEM -- :)
I think (!?) that I should be able to do this using the HttpURLConnection() POST method in addition to a PHP script on the server moving the file around once it's been uploaded. I don't, however, have a clue as to what the code should look like to accomplish something like this...(as I've never used it before, and can't seem to find sample code that would be even close to what I'm trying to do)
How can this be done? Also, is there a simpler way of doing this?

again, I'm new to all of this and I don't really know what things in java (or any of the script languages for that matter) can or cannot do...
Even if there is a better way, I would still know if this is solvable tho (I just want to get my head straight after banging it against this wall for the past few days) :), but as I said, any suggestions would be appreciated...

How can open a html, pdf files from the server (c:\foldername\filename)

Hi all,
I am developing an application. in this app i have to implement RMI.
My problem is this, How can a client open a files from the server.
all the html, pdf files are stored in the server's directory like C:\audit\filename.
There is a folder on the server's C directory which contains all the html , pdf files.
please tell me how can a client open a file from the server using RMI.
Please send me the solution as soon as possible.

Batch rename files on the server?

Can someone explain how to batch rename files on the server ?
I have 1000 rows each containing these fields
id (unique key)
productCode
filename1
filename2
For every row I need to rename the following fields:
Rename [filename1] to [productCode]_[id]_1
Rename [filename2] to [productCode]_[id]_2
also I need to rename the actual file on the server using the above scheme

So far I've got everything working apart from CFFILE which works only if it finds a corresponding jpeg file on the server. In other words it works perfectly until row 20 of the database because the filename contained in the field doesn't have a matching jpeg file on the server, so CFFILE fails like this...

Writing from a BLOB to a FIle on the Server

I need to be able to save the data from a BLOB column to an external file on the server, preferably in a temporary directory. Afterwards I will add a header to the file and send to the web client. I believe I know how to add the header. However, everything I have read in DBMS_LOB or UTIL_FILE describes saving a BFILE or CLOB to a BLOB, but not the reverse. Can you save from a BLOB to an external file on the server? The processing must be done on the Server.
I have been able to select TEXT from a VARCHAR column and save to a file on the server but unable to select a BLOB and save to the file.

UTL_FILE would be the correct thing to use, but I seem to recall that it didn't work for binary files. It apparently adds CR LF data into the files when written. I am not sure if this has changed recently or not. You might try posting in the database or PL/SQL forum about UTL_FILE.

Access denied error while writing a file to the file system - myfileupload.saveas() throws system.unauthorizedexception

hi,
as part of my requirement , i have to perform read and write operations of few files [ using the file upload control in my custom visual web part] and on submit button click.
but while writing these files - with the help of fileupload control - and when i use myfileupload.saveas(mylocation);
- i am saving these files into my D:\ drive of my server , where i am executing my code -, am getting access denied error.
it throws system.unauthorizedexception.
i have given full control on that folder where i was trying to store my attached files. and also after following asp.net forums,
i have added iusr group added and performed all those steps such that, the file is saved in my D:\ drive.
but unfortunately that didnt happen.
also
a) i am trying the code with runwithelevatedprivileges(delegate() ) code
b) shared the drive within the d :drive where i want o save the files.
c) given the full privieleges for the app pool identity- in my case , its
network service.
the other strange thing is that, the same code works perfectly in other machine, where the same sp, vs 2012 etc were installed .
would like to know, any other changes/ steps i need to make it on this server, where i am getting the error.

Socket blocking on read operation while uploading zip file to the server

I am trying to upload a zip file to the server
Client thread creates the zip file ( of the modified files) and it even completes writing the data to the socket stream.
Now if the server thread tries to read the same data from the stream, it blocks on read operation.
While downloding the zip file from the server works fine.

Opening Output Stream to a file on the server from Applet

I am trying to write a little applet which parses a file found on the server , lets the user select some Strings then write the selected Strings to a different file on the server. I use the following code:

The problem I am having is that the getOutputStream routine for the connection object does nothing other than throw an exception (I've stepped through the code and that is all the routine actually does). The connection is actually made but no output stream can be created. I have looked at the Java Tutorial (as I am fairly new to Java) and found a spot where they tell you how to write to a file on the server, which is the example I have followed. Any suggestions? What am I missing?

Yes, that's what I thought. It talks about writing to a URL, and you have interpreted "URL" as if it meant "file". A URL is a "Uniform Resource Locator", which is a string that identifies a "resource" on the server. Often that corresponds to a file on the server, but not always. It could be a page that is dynamically generated by a script on the server.
Look again at that page and you will see these words: "At the other end, a cgi-bin script (usually) on the server receives the data, processes it, and then sends you a response, usually in the form of a new HTML page." What that means is, you can't just upload a file to a URL unless you have programmed the server to deal with that upload. That's part of the basic design of the HTTP protocol.
So, unfortunately, you can't do what you want all that easily. You would have to provide some programming at the server to handle the file upload for you. In Java that means writing a servlet and getting the web server to have that servlet handle all requests to a particular URL. I suspect you don't want to get into that just yet. But if you do, any decent book on Java servlets should have an example of how to upload files like this.

I'm trying to get a blog module going, I've even deleted the html insert bog with the tag in and re-published which then I don't get the error but as a result no blog either. But then I add the tag in again and publish the error comes back. I've used the dev console and it says that my musicians sample.css is out of date but why is it only out of date when I add in html to my muse site?

How do I delete my iCloud email without deleting the files from the server?

I want to delete my iCloud email from a laptop I don't use much anymore. I am afraid if I do all the files will delete from the server as well. Is this true? If not, what are the best ways to go about deleting the account without harming the files on the server (in turn deleting all my email from synced iCloud devices)?

In Mail, delete the account, the server side will not be changed.
