Wrong output in excel CSV - Excel displayes more records as the report

Hello,
I have a report with a parameteritem : p1_date_ from that will be filled by
Source value or expression
select to_DATE ('12/MAY/2005','DD/MON/YYYY') from dual
The report query used this Parameter in the query: SELECT * FROM .. WHERE ( TRUNC (at.my_date) >= :p1_date_from
OR :p1_date_from IS NULL)..
Run the application -> only one record comes back, but
If you click on the excel export and show the file two records will be displayed
It looks like that the excel link will not use the parameter p1_date_form
after pressing a button Go with (go_submit) -> Excel will display only 1 record -> correctly.
This looks like default behaviour, but the problem is how to "synchronize" both the Report and the CSV export?
I received an idea from Scott Spadafore, but the implemetation doesn't work as expected.
If needed I have a short testcase tablecreate script, table insert script and application export .

I tested the testcase in htmldb.oracle.com and it was not longer reproduceable, but my customer needs a workaround for version 1.6
THe question is : How to get a javascript onchange event to fire and submit the page so that the values would be in session state.

I have a query say q1 based on the query value. I am getting place holder colums obtained from a procedure. based on one of the place holder columns i want to display the data say i have place holder column err_ind if it y. i don't want to display the record in report.

Thanks for the response.
Actually i did debug the program with the help of our technical guys but found nothing wrong in both the quality and the production system. We compared the program in both the systems and it seems to be same. I am exploring this issue. Will update the findings here.

Display more than one interactive report on a page

You can't display two on one page, but it is possible to have multiple conditional interactive reports. See Duncs most excellent blog:

This is probably an unsupported approach.

Date range to be displayed & Displaying multiple values on the report

Hi,
I have date range parameters, but I also need it to be displayed it on the report. Is there any way I can display it. E.G If a parameter is created one can drag and drop it on the report if it needs to be displayed on the report, I tried to do the same for the date range parameter but it does not work.
Also If a parameter is created by selecting the option 'Allow Multiple Values', and if you drag and drop it on the report only the first value is displayed and the rest does not show. Has anyone tried this before and been successful in displaying multiple values in the report.

Hi,
A multi-value parameter is actually treated as an array in Crystal Reports.
To display the values selected in the parameter, create a formula from the Field Explorer and type this code:
Join({?ParameterName},",");
Place this formula on the header or the footer sections of the report.
Regarding the date range issue, please follow Sastry's advice and it should work fine.
Make sure you're using the parameter in the Minimum and Maximum functions. For eg: If I was to create a date range parameter called OrderDate, my formula to show the start date would look like this:
Minimum({?OrderDate})

Excel export contains a blank row for the Report Header

Hi,
I am getting a blank row as the first row in my SSRS report when exported to excel. I have already taken care of following things,
1. I have hidden all of the Page Header items using Globals
2. The position of Report Body Tablix is 0, that means there is no space between report header and Report Body.
I have developed this Report in SSRS 2012, please let me know if any more details are required. I think even after hiding Header Items, excel creates a placeholder for page header. I can't remove header from my reports as it is needed to be published in
pdf.

According to your description, you are getting a blank row as the first row in your excel report when you export the report to excel, you have hidden all the items in the Page Header by using the Globals, right?
This blank row is for the page header, although you have hidden all the items in it, but it will still display when export report to excel. Because we can’t hidden the page Header directly. Normally, we can hidden all the items in the page Header, So in
the design phase we can also see the blank area above the report body when preview.
We have an alternative way by add the “SimplePageHeaders” setting in “RSReportserver.config” file, after configuration the page Header will not display in the first row of the worksheet but is rendered to the Excel page header. In Reporting Services, the
“SimplePageHeaders” default value is “FALSE” and it indicates that the page header is rendered to the first row of the worksheet. In order to display the page header in the Header/Footer section of Excel, we need to set the “SimplePageHeaders” setting value
to “TRUE”. I did a test on my local machine and here are my steps:
Navigate to RSReportserver.config file: <drive:> Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\RSReportserver.config.
Backup the RSReportserver.config file before modify it, open the RSReportserver.config file with Notepad format.
Set the Excel rendering extension code like this:

When I access to Report Manager and export the report(includes a page header) to Excel format, the blank row will disappear now.

Displaying Check boxes in the Report Output

hi Folks,
           I need to dispay check boxes for every line item in my report output, the user can select particular line item by clicking the check box. and if the user click one button on the report, the corresponding dunning form should be generated. How can i acheive this. is displaying check boxes possible in normal reports or we need to go for ALV. please help me regarding this.

We can do it with the normal report also.Create a charecter field and while the field to the screnn
write :/ field as check box.
this will create acheck box in the output

Displaying parameter value in the report output

I have a requirement to display the value 'All' in the report when the user selects 'All' from the list box. Can anyone suggest a way?
E.g.
My LOV input to the report has following values, 'A', 'B', 'C', 'All'.
If I select 'All', all the values A, B, C go into the query . But I need to display this I/P parameter as a field in the RTF showing 'All' in it.

u can try like this
if they select all u will have 'a,'b','c' as value in the xml tag right so always the string length of that xml field will be same when you select all . SAY STRING LENGTH WILL be 10 when user select ALL
( check the string how much is the value when you select ALL and implement this)
we can try using string length

or
<?xdoxslt:ifelse(number(string-length(//XML_FIELD_TAG))>=10,'ALL',//XML_FIELD_TAG)?>
So it will display ALL when user selects ALL else the selected value.
if you are not having parameter values as xml tag then you have use like this

Hi,
Put an image field in your report, then change the image’s Graphic Location:
right click the image, select Format Graphic, select Picture tab, click the conditional-formula button that look like a x2 and set the formula’s text to
the name of the formula or parameter field that will contain the image’s URL.
Save the formula and click the OK button. Save the report and test it.
Be carefull with the size of the image field. If this size is not equal to the image itself it could get resized.

Display saying record all the time

Hi guys.
I reported on here about 4 months ago that the display always says it recording all the time. I was told on here that the problem has been noted and would be fixed in a upcoming update, but it hadn't ?
Anyone know when this is being fixed?

How to display a variable in the report?

hi all
i want to use one complex sql statement which will return only one value and i need to display it in report. i'm new to OBIEE. i thought of creating a repository variable to hold that value. but im not sure of how to display the variable in the report.
Any idea?

How to display 0INSP_CHAR description in the report?

Hi experts
I want to display description of 0INSP_CHAR in the report..
0INSP_CHAR has 3 compounding objects so its displaying it as Q/1356933/11/20 instead of 20.
I want to remove compound characteristics from the report & also want to display description of 20 in the report which is maintained in the master data..
Please suggest inputs.

Displaying date/time in the report of last updating data?

Hi,
I have produced a report over a multiprovider. The multiprovider is built up from tow cubes. The data is being updated to one cube each hour and to the another cube one time daily.
The date/time that display in the report is for the last updating data of the cube that updating one time daily.
I want that the date\time be updated each hour, in another words, to display the date\time of last updating data to the second cube.
Any suggestions?

Hi all,
I've a report which requires all the rows to be displayed even if no data is present.
For e.g. I've agebucket classification in my rows. Certain agebucket classification has no ppl in it.so i want it to be displayed with 0 as its value. could anyone please help?

Hi,
If you have taken agebuckets as selections , then you will get balnk cells if there are no records satisfies the restrictions given in those selections. So to get zero in place of Blank value , you need to dependent on Formulas as shown below:
Lets say you have selections like agebucket1,agebucket2.
Then you need 2 formulas .And you need to hide agebucket1,agebucket2.
1st formula:
( agebucket1 == 0 ) * 0 + ( agebucket1 <> 0 ) * agebucket1
2nd formula:
( agebucket2 == 0 ) * 0 + ( agebucket2 <> 0 ) * agebucket2
