Wrong weekday labels in web calendar

I just installed Lion Server 10.7.3, I got just a problem with web calendar localization: the day of the week is worng (today friday 10 is showed as saturday 10)
I found the the translation file is wrong, i.e.the file for italian strings ( /usr/share/collabd/coreclient/locales/it.lproj/default.strings ) doesn't match the equivalent english key:
English default.strings
<key>date.abbr_day_names</key>
<string>Sun,Mon,Tues,Wed,Thur,Fri,Sat</string>
Italian default.strings
<key>date.abbr_day_names</key>
<string>lun,mar,mer,gio,ven,sab,dom</string>
The correct translation should be:
<key>date.abbr_day_names</key>
<string>dom,lun,mar,mer,gio,ven,sab</string>
Of course, I tried to change it and restart the server, but the web cal page is not correct. There is a way to force the webcal to update this file?

Ok! Question Solved
To show the correctly day of week change this files:
/usr/share/collabd/coreclient/locales/it.lproj/default.strings
/usr/share/collabd/notification/locales/it.lproj/default.strings
/usr/share/collabd/public/locales/it.lproj/strings.js
1) in files named default.strings must be changed the bellow line (line 38; Line 40):
<string>lun,mar,mer,gio,ven,sab,dom</string> in to <string>dom,lun,mar,mer,gio,ven,sab</string>
<string>lunedì,martedì,mercoledì,giovedì,venerdì,sabato,domenica</string> in to <string>domenica,lunedì,martedì,mercoledì,giovedì,venerdì,sabato</string>
2) in files named strings.js must be changed the bellow line (line 435; line 436; line 437):
line 435
"_Dates.Weekday": "lun,mar,mer,gio,ven,sab,dom-,", in to "_Dates.Weekday": "dom lun,mar,mer,gio,ven,sab,"-,
line 436
"_Dates.ShortWeekday": "L,M,M,G,V,D,D", in to "_Dates.ShortWeekday": "D,L,M,M,G,V,S",
line 437
"_Dates.LongWeekday": "lunedì,martedì,mercoledì,giovedì,venerdì,sabato,domenica", in to "_Dates.LongWeekday": "domenica,lunedì,martedì,mercoledì,giovedì,venerdì,sabato",
3) Restart Wiki server
...it work properly

  • Resource/Locations in web calendar

    Hi,
I have a problem with my resources/locations not showing up in the web calendars. I've managed to add them in Directory utility and delegated them to my group, but nothing is showing up in the web calendar and when I check the iCal properties in server admin there are no resources or locations listed, although the users and groups are.
Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong? It should be possible to schedule resources & locations through the web calendar, right?
    Cheers,
    Erik

That depends on the server that you are using. For example in tomcat you would establish the datasource connection parameters in the context xml file for the web app.
    http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.0-doc/jndi-datasource-examples-howto.html
You'll need to consult the documentation for your server.

  • Can another calendars events be integrated into a published web calendar?

Apologies in advance for my general ignorance about iCal. I am just starting to venture into the program.
I am the web coordinator for a nonprofit group, and am intending to use iCal to publish a web calendar for our site. I have subscribed to the US Holidays calendar, and am wondering if there is any way to get the holidays to show up in my group's published calendar (i.e. I want holidays on the web calendar, but don't want to have to plug them in myself). It is obvious how to integrate the calendars within the application -- just not sure if there's a way to make events from other calendars integrate into the published web calendar.
Sorry about the redundancy -- just want to be clear.
Also, is there anyway to embed these calendars into a web page.
    TIA,
    mel

    mel,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Just create a new Calendar Group, name it "Publish" for example, and drag the U.S. Holidays into that group.
The following information is taken from iCal Help.
    1. Choose File > New Calendar Group, or hold down the Shift key while clicking the Add + button in the lower-left corner of the iCal window, and then type a name for the group.
    2. Add existing calendars to the group by dragging them under the group name, or select the group name and choose File > New Calendar to create a new calendar within the group.
    3. Remove calendars from the group by dragging them out of the list.
You should be able to embed a link to the calendar in a web page, but I do not know how to provide a direct display of that calendar.

  • Time in web calendar

Hello people, I wrote this post in ical server but i got no answer, so i will try my luck heir:
i have the problem in the web calendar using (safari and firefox):
We put our meetings online in the web browser so that windows users can see meeting of the mac users.
the problem is when i write a meeting from 10 till 12 clock is the web browser it tells me an error that I have no access right, but when i write a meeting 10:00 to 11:59 the browser tells no error and it save the meeting,
or if I add 24 clock then the web browser chang it to 12 noon
    can somebody help me??!!
the time zone on xp clients and mac os x (10.6.4) clients is Germany
    best regards

    Hi
We have experienced this too. It seems that it is the first time you try to enter an event that goes over 12 noon but before 1pm the no access error appears.
We have found a workround similar to yours in that we enter a time schedule say 10.30 to 13.30 and then can change it in the week view by dragging the graphic. If we try to amend the duration in the dialogue box the error occurs.
We are running 10.6.4 on the server and the client is at 10.5.8.

  • Web Calendar in Mac OS X Server 10.5

The iCal server in Mac OS X 10.5 Server correctly records recurring events and they are visible in iCal. However, when viewed through a group's web calendar, only the first instance of the event is visible.
Is there a non-default setting that has to be turned on or is this a bug? I've tried it in 10.5.4 and 10.5.5 server.

I have the same question.  I have a brand new install of ML running Server and have turned on Calendar service but cannot seem to actually ever create a calendar account so that I can share my calendar across various computers and users...

  • Group Web-Calendar, how does one edit an event's 'Notes'?

I have an OSX Leopard server hosting several Group Calendars. One question I keep getting is how to edit the 'Notes' section of a web event.
When you hover over an event in the Web Calendar, the last field of information presented is 'Notes'. Clicking on the event however does not present 'Notes' as an editable field.
Is there any way to add text there, if not, what is it's purpose?

Go to the calendar event page. You can do this by clicking on the calendar event from the search results or in the 'Upcoming Events' category on the Wiki home page (if it's there). You can then edit that event to add the 'Notes'.
It appears that if you leave the 'Location' field blank, the note added populates that field instead of the 'Notes' field. I suspect this is a bug. But if the 'Location' field has a value, then the information appears in the 'Notes' field.

  • How to make iCal Server events viewable on the web calendar?

    Hi,
I can create, edit and view events on the web calendar.
I can create, edit and view my own events via iCal.
How can I set it up so we can see all the calendars from our group on the web calendar? It's empty now other than what's entered via the web calendar.
Is there really no integration between the two?

I too thought web group calendar was subscribe only in iCal until I ran across the procedure at
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20080410162942908
in the 4th comment down by protean. With a couple of additions I was able to post an event to the web group calendar and have an update on the web post back to the iCal calendar. My additions were needed to get the results as posted in the comment:
    1) make sure Enable Calendaring is selected for all group members,
    2) refresh iCal to ensure all group members are visible in the Personal Server Calendar Address Pane before adding the group calendar account,
    3) add all members in step 3 of the procedure including yourself, however, if the owner of the group (e.g. diradmin) is not a member then don't add it,
    4) prior to step 6 of the procedure you can verify the group is visible as in step 8 in the Personal Server Calendar delegation before deleting the group account; if not visible then you don't have to start from scratch, just work with the group account from step 1,
    5) the group calendar shows up in the left column list of calendars under Delegates calendars.
So I got this to work.
Then I setup a location in Directory.app with Delegates as the group. It shows up in iCal under Delegates calendar with the error notice
'Error While Refreshing Access to account "location title" is not permitted.'
So there is no calendar available for the location in iCal. The personal iCal account shows the Delegation of location and the Show checkbox is selected. The group is allowed to select the location on the web calendar and in the server iCal calendar. But the location doesn't indicate conflicts in the availability pane. Can someone tell me what might be missing?

  • Default timezone from Web calendar (currently UTC)

When I create an event using the Web calendar, it seems to use UTC as the time zone. This causes a problem when I go into iCal and see that the event is several hours off compared to what I set when I created the event. I can edit the event in iCal to use my local timezone (PST), but I'm wondering if there is a way to set the default timezone when creating events using the Web calendar?
    Patrick

As far as I can see from looking at the saved CalDAV data, iCal and Sunbird save timezone info for each calendar entry whereas the WebCalendar saves none.
This is fine if you are working only with the web calendar or you specify no timezone data in your external client (iCal, Sunbird, etc), but is unusable otherwise.
There are four things that need to be addressed here as I see it.
    1) The iCal Server software needs to use the timezone info from the settings on the server machine to set its internal values.
    2) The web calendar software needs to use (1) as a default for all new web calendar accounts.
    3) The web UI needs to have a way to set a timezone value in the "Settings" page of the users and the groups.
    4) The web calendar needs to read and save this timezone data with each entry to/from the CalDAV server.
Until Apple does this the system is unusable except in tightly controlled environments as more diligent users will set their timezone data in other applications such as iCal, Sunbird, or others that are coming out.
Any comments on this from Apple Tech?

  • Web calendar

How can I create a web calendar using java servlet. I need to create one for my final year project. If any one has done a project like this or have any idea about it can you please give some advice. The calendar should be able to be uploaded on to a website and is possible to viewed and operate via PDA or wap device. Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

I also know plenty of things about it but I am not
quite sure which technology I should apply for this
web calendar as I have not done anything like this
before. So far I have been able to create a web
calendar using java servlet. But I dont know how to
apply wml coding on the source code. The other things
I am not sure about is if I am going to need server
side databse( ie sql, access) for this calendar and if
this could run on Tomcat server. The other thing I am
not sure about is how do I make it accessible via PDA.
Do I need to pay some SMS provider for this or is
there any other alternative. This is a start. You'd get farther if you'd word your question a bit more specifically.
Since Tomcat runs servlets, and you've already coded a servlet, I'd say it'll run under Tomcat.
When you say "calendar", I assume you really mean a date book for one or more individuals. So your display will be a calendar, but you'll want to persist events or appointments for a given day, time, and individual. Gotta have a database for that. SQL or Access are both relational databases. MySQL is another free alternative.
Start by writing some use cases (e.g., "Add an appointment", "Change an appointment", "Remove An Appointment", etc.) You'll build up an object model that way. You'll have to design a database schema, too. Start thinking about tables, cardinalities, and relationships (e.g., "Party is one-to-one with Calendar", "Calendar is one-to-many with Appointment", etc.) Do some design before you code a big mess. It'll help you get your arms around the problem. Implement and test one use case at a time. That way you'll have a hope of finishing. Even if you don't complete all of them, you'll still have some working code to show.
Making it accessible to a PDA is another matter. It should be that your PDA will just make HTTP requests to the servlet, which will detect the client type and send different response pages down depending on whether the client is a PDA or a browser. Might want to read about how to interface Palm to a servlet. Sounds like a wireless application - I have no experience with that.
Pay a provider? This is a school project. Just download Java, Tomcat, and MySQL onto a host machine and make it run there. You can get it all to run on a laptop and simply connect it to your school network to demonstrate how networked clients would use it.
Lots to do. When does the semester end - May? Better get busy. - MOD

  • Accessing Sub Calendars in via HTTP Web Calendar

    Hi,
I'm trying to work out how to display all of my calendars on the web calendar interface in OS X 10.5.5
I am accessing the server : http://diary.local which give me a login prompt, I successfully log in and then go to Calendar, it says please wait while populating, but then doesn't actually populate anything.
I have sub-calendars within my account which I use for 'holidays','cars','My Plans','Room Bookings' etc - all of these are shared for delegation, so need to be kept seperate.
How do I enable the web calendar to be able to view all of these diaries as well?
I've tried phpiCalendar - but that only allows for a single calendar (and loads all the .ics files), however the directory structure has all of them in different folders, so this doesn't work in my case.
    Many thanks,
    Carl.

This is a MS problem, they force you to use a light owa version when not using internet explorer.

  • Web-Calendar component in Wiki get lost after Open Directory installation

if I change my Lion Server to use opendirectory and not work in standalone mode, I lose the ability of the server for web-calendar for example at the wiki-webpage.
    servername/webcal
The error-message tells me, the service calendar is deaktivated and I should activate it at Server App.
    But at Server App:
    a) iCal Service IS ACTIVE
    b) I find NO OPTION for activating the Web-Calender function under iCal like at the Mail-Service (one above) -> activate Webmail
So, HOW I can BRING the web calendar component BACK TO MY WIKI?
I wanted to use it in company, but now I not touch this "open directory activation" anymore, because I will lose. Without opendirectory the webcalendar working!
I tried to find that function with Server - Admin, but this programm is much limited to what it was at the Snow Leopard Server and there I cannot select the iCal Service anymore. It's same with the new Airport Utility 6.0. Terrible reduced and I just installed back 5.6 and this is good working for my needs.

I found the solution: Like with the PPTP-VPN problem it depends on the certificate. If you BUY an official public certificate (yes spend money for your Server more than the server price!), at once the Webcalender and the PPTP-VPN working!
If in other way you fight through your selfsigned certificate problems and rebuild it, at once you will get all your problems again. So, not wonder why Apple at once mention in the help-line, that you need to buy a certificate. This, they mean true! You should support the certificate system of the new IPv6 and vanishing IPv4 world (I mean the IBM VeriSystem) for the new TRANSACTION orientated usage-fee-world. And not forget in this new Internet 2 world: E-Mail will become a service that get paid per transaction and 19% VAT tax (Germany) on top of it and 1 Cent communication tax (like the energy cent we pay today for each unit of energy source) for the EU. This, they realy plan to realize next years. So, why we wonder about this strange certificate issue it such transactions need be identified unique? In April in greater region Hannover-Braunschweig they will change the bankingcards for the new cashfree-system (GiroGo). And who wonders: cash-transfers will get transaction fees. They tell: Only 1 Cent / 5 Euro, only 2 Cent for 10 Euro, only 15 cent for 15 Euro. So, you understand what this new transaction and veriSigned world in real means? It is a change from a pocessing-free-world into a usage-fee-world. And you realy think that 2013 we still will speak from a banking crisis under such new conditions? They will get billions each day cash-transaction-fees. With NFC-iPhone 5 no problem (NCF -> look at Near field communications). The people will say: Oh, it's only 1, 2, 3 Cent but so practical not change money coins anymore. You will see how good this transaction usage-fee money-machine will work. And the EU will get billions transaction-communication-tax each day from the emails, there will be no discussion about Greek, Irland, Portugal, Spain (PIGS) ... economic-crisis anymore. You will see, such will happen! No banking crisis with Internet 2, no economic crisis with Internet 2. All will be solved by us, the people. Oh, our Merkel, when she come back from a G20 meeting already said: "We decided that each economic member and part need be 100% in focus in future and not uncontrolled anymore."
If somebody more interested at this plan, you can watch this docu movie "one mainframe to rule the world" that describes deeper the issue of certification, identification, verification of people or things. The near world we drive directly into. And this certification system is ruled by whom?
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXTwS_T-CvM
When I at least go to the Apple-Center I found the teacher with a Microsoft-T-Shirt of certification and wonderd very much. Than he told me, that the only groupware that is true for a good usage together with Apple is Exchange Server. And the more he told the more I wonder because he is Apple-Highgraded. But I not so much wonder anymore. Understand the game this companies play with us. It's a licence crisis and it can be described as: Microsoft is a the one end of the coordination system with x = price and y = pieces sold. Apple is exaclty at the opposite. Look what MS does, look what Apple does and at the end it's not difficult to see, that they moving to eachother to meet. And the missing 3d coordinate z in this new room is IBM with it's VeriSystem.
So, a perfect xyz-combination for all giants.
How Google, Linux ... matches inside this "new computer world order"?
I will mention that much IT-professionals at the moment going to such new curses and explain that 2013 they will change all hardware to "certified hardware" that NEED BE used in businesses and for example Linux will not be part of this new "certified world".

  • "Custom Repeat" grayed out in Web Calendar

I've got a couple of web calendars set up for attendance, conference calls, and that sort of thing. For the con calls specifically, we'd love to be able to set things as "the 2nd wednesday of the month" or the "last friday of the month", but the "custom" option is grayed out when creating items. This question has been asked previously here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11222863&#11222863
    and
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11213757&#11213757
Wondering if anyone had any ideas before I call Applecare on this.

Something else I've noticed, my users are having intermittent problems with deleting recurring appointments: sometimes they'll try to delete single instances and they won't be deleted.

  • Web calendar for group only?  Users cals only in iCal?

I'm new to setting up iCal server and I've looked through my *Mac OS X Server Essentials* book as well as iCalService_Admin_v10.5_2ndEd.pdf and WebTechnologies_Adminv10.5.pdf and how the iCal service, the iCal application and the web calendar all interact remains a little murky for me.
    Here's my understanding so far:
iCal the application on the OS X client computer is used to manage a single user's calendar. iCal can also be used to manage another user's calender if so set up.
The web calendar found at http://domain/groups/groupname/calendar/ is used to manage a group's calendar.
iCal the application can subscribe Read-Only to the group's calendar.
This means to me that a user's calendar is not viewable on the web, the web calendar is only for group calendaring, and group calendar management is only done via the web not iCal, is this true?

I have only recently made my web calendars work, but have had several odd problems when trying to use both the web calendar and iCal to edit and view the same group calendar.
*What is the proper way to access a group calendar in the iCal client?*
    Is it this?
