Wrt160nv2 xbox strict NAT port forwarding/port triggering

I am having trouble stabalizing my NAT on 2 Xboxes. They are both connected to the wrt160nv2 with ethernet cables and I don't know whether I need to do port forwarding or port triggering. Right now, I am using port range triggering, triggered range 53 to 3074 and forwarded range 53 to 3074, and under Setup, MTU size is 1452. I got that off of another post on here but I think they were trying to set it up for an ethernet cable and wireless. I just need to know what to do since both Xboxes are using ethernet cables so both Xboxes can have open NATs.

No need to forward/trigger any ports on the router . Sometimes 2 gaming consoles do not work on a router.
You can try to upgrade the firmware on the router , reset it and reconfigure .

I'm trying to get Utorrent up and going right and it says it's being blocked by my router or a firewall. My windows vista system has the firewall off,and I use avg antivirus that doesn't have one in it. I'll go into my router and I've tried port range forwarding,Single port forwarding, and port triggering as well as disabled and enabled UPNP to no avail.
I've tried to get any port to be open, but I'll go check to see if it works using www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ or www.utorrent.com/testport.php?port="insert a port number here"
but i havn't been able to make any open.
any ideas or am i doing something stupid and missing it?
    thanks for any help

Already done the firewall on my computer. It looks like theres another firewall built into my Embarq 660 modem thats doing it.

  • Sharing internet connection with xbox-Strict NAT

Im currently sharing my internet connection from my macbook to my xbox 360 via ethernet but for some reason my NAT is set to strict.
I have set up port forwarding on my router, but apparently have to set it up on the macbook too?
can anyone help me out with this?

I got a macbook for college and I had the same problem with connecting my Wii to the macbook's connection. But lo and behold, the internet's a wonderful place! I tried this out (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070514152251515) and it worked! I'm not sure about the powerbook bit though, sorry. Hope it works for you too.

  • 2 xboxes - strict nat - airport extreme

    Ok here's my problem.
I've got two xbox 360s connected to two MacBook pros running snow leopard using Internet connection sharing. Playing on xbox live works fine, but when we try to join each others party on xbox live to play on the same team, it doesn't let us connect. When we run an xbox live test it says we have a moderate or strict nat type. The MacBook pros are both connected to our airport extreme on the same network. I've tested them both wired directly into the airport and they work fine on an open NAT type, but this isn't feasible we don't have two HD TVs where the router is.
So my question is, how do I get both xboxes to an open NAT type so we can play online in the same party?
Microsoft support said the airport extreme was not a supported router. I can't afford another one.
    Any suggestions?

Reply on @teressax with a question.
I was triggered because you are talking about a bridged situation, I have also a ps3 and want to stream music and video to that ps3. My current fritzbox modem router does not do the job good enough. So I was thinking on extending my network with an airport extreme. In my network is also a web server.
The modem/router uses the range 192.168.178.1-255
Question: Can I put the AE wired(!) extending into that same range? And connect my network to the AE then to keep the same internal network range?
I am intending to switch the wireless of the modem/router off and use the wireless if the AE also of course.
Is it then still possible to reach the web server from the outside?
I still have to find out how to do the streaming, but I am searching for someone that tells me that it will work.
    Regards,
    Jim

  • Can only port forward port 80, other ports does not open.

I am trying to open three ports on my AE (7.6.1), but the only port that actually opens (if set) is port 80.
    - The Airport Extreme is the router and no additional router is in place
    - I have given the three cameras (that I want to access from Internet) static IP
    - I have trired to open three ports for those (45101, 45102, 45103)
None of above ports open, but if I change one port to 80, that port opens and one camera can work. This is really strange and any suggestions or help is much appreciated!

As you don't want to use the modem as router I would recommend to reconfigure your modem into "bridge" mode. In bridge mode it works like a simple modem. You then have to configure your WRT for your internet connection (usually PPPoE for DSL or DHCP for cable). With this setup, you don't have these chained routers and the WRT has a direct connection into the internet (i.e. the WRT shows your public IP address on the Status page).
Some chained router setups shows problems with drop outs, connection loss and similar. I recommend to use only one router in home setups.
On a sidenote: port forwarding is not related to firewall functions. The reason why you need port forwarding is because a router does "NAT" (Network Address Translation). You use private IP addresses inside your LAN (e.g. 192.168.1.*). Private IP addresses are not routed into the internet. Any internet router will immediately drop packets with a private IP addresses. Thus, your router does NAT to map your private IP address to your single public IP address. It's in the nature of this mapping that unsolicited incoming traffic from the internet is dropped unless you configure port forwarding. That's simply because the router would not know where to sent a packet on a port 1234 received on its public IP address unless you tell it. Thus disabling the firewall on a router won't change a thing.

  • Port forward/ Port trigger?????????????

ok.......How do I use them? Triggered Range start port? to end port? Forwarded Range start point? to end point? Would it be the same forwarded ports? do I put the same port # in all for areas? I'm working with WRT54GS ver. 6
I have port forwarded two ports. How do I use the port triggering?

hi , yes you can specify the same Port # all along....will not create any issues....however if you have enabled port forwarding for a particular port....you will not be able to use that same port for port triggering..
let me know what you wanna do.....i'll try n help

  • LRT214 Accessing Web Services with Port Forwarding & Port Translation

    Good afternoon to all,
Purchased the LRT214 yesterday afternoon and it was a breeze to configure the internet settings and get back online. But after the initial configuration, I ran into some trouble getting the router to do port translation together with port forwarding.
The port forwarding setup is straighforward and works perfectly, the same cannot be said for the port translation which does not seem to work. I programmed the following,
    1) external port 88 forwarded to internal port 80 for 192.169.1.12
    2) external port 89 forwarded to internal port 80 for 192.169.1.13
Can someone point me in the correct direction to achieve the above?

    Firmware Revision : 1.0.2.06
    Working Mode : Gateway

  • Which ports can i use for port forwarding / port mapping??

    Hi,
i have set up one port forward with success but am unable to open any other ports it seems.   i am using the following web site to check (http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/)  , and no matter what port number i have tried to port forward, it always comes back with the message that this port is not open.
Mabe I just hit the jackpot with the first port (9080)...and maybe it is only possible to forward a single port....however I would welcome any advice out there.
I am using time capsule, and to port forward i am doing following:
    port mapping
    + ener name
    leave service blank
    public udp ports 9000 (example)
    public tcp ports 9000
    ip address 10.0.1.x
    private udp ports 9000
    private tcp ports 9000

service name / type - leave blank

  • EA4500 port forwarding - Port 21 works, no other ports seem to work!! Help!!!

I have set up my Internet Connection for Port Forwarding - I have a Bell Modem and an Linksys EA4500.
    FTP (21) works, but HTTP (80) doesn't.
Does anyone have suggestions on why I can't get HTTP to work?
    Internet -> 70.xx.xx.xx -> Bell Modem -> 192.168.2.1 -> 192.168.2.2 -> Linksys -> 192.168.1.1 -> Computer 192.168.1.6
Since FTP is working I'm pretty sure I've set up Port Forwarding with 2 Routers properly.
I know my IIS Server is running because I can see the web page locally - when I stop the IIS Server I don't see the web page.  Same is true for FTP.
Also trying to get 3389 - Remote Desktop connection - to work.
Have tried DMZ on and off, Single Port Forwarding and Port Range Forwarding but can ONLY get FTP to work.  Have also tried Static IP on Internet Settings, Turned off IPV4 SPI Firewall Protection, etc. So frustrated!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

  • Open ports forward ports?

Hey i ve had trouble connecting to a game ( World of Warcraft) with my wireless-B broadband router model: BEFW11S4 . I took my computer to a lan center and played it there fine, but once i took it home it crashed during gameplay. i read the error and it says it was due to a firewall, im pretty sure its from the router. WoW websites suggests opening ports or forwarding im not great with computers but i was just hoping u guys can help me with this one.

Open IE and go to http://192.168.1.1. YOu will find a login screen.Keep the username blank and the password is "admin".
Go to "Applications and Gaming".Click on the sub-tab " Port Triggering". Provided the ports no that you need to open the ports.
Also upgrade the firmware. If you don't get the above mention screen. Firmware Upgrade may get you this screen.

  • LR214 port forwarding / port translation config issue

I am trying to create multiple ssh tunnels through  LRT214 with portforwarding. - basic ssh tcp forwarding works fine :  I added new service TCP port 22; and than forwarded it from the WAN port to an internal server; - now I am trying to to forward 4 external tcp ports (I am port values values in 5xxxx  range) to four different intenal servers to standard port 22 on each: in portforwarding services I created 4 different TCP (WANip->internalserver[1-4]ip)  and created 4 forwarding entries;in port translation I created 4 port translations  port5xxx1->port22, port5xxx2->port22, etc..opened it all in firewall (tcp ports 5xxx[1-4] are open any to any) when I try connecting to one of 5xxxx ports from the outside I get 'connection refused', port scan shows for all 4 ports 'port closed' What am I missing ?

You can use Port Address Translation (PAT) to address your concern. Simply follow the steps below:  1. Add the Service port your device will be listening into. a. Configuration>Setup>Port Address Translationb. Click on Service Management. Service Management window will show up.c. Give the Service a named. Chose TCP or UDPe. Input the External (ex.: 10001)  and Internal (ex.: 22) portsf. Click OK  2. Point the Service port to the device. a. While in the Port Address Translations page, select the Service port in the "Services" drop down menu.b. Enter the IP address (ex.: 192.168.1.11) of the device.c. Put a check on the Enable box.d. Click on Save.

  • Could someone tell me how port forward port 80 on my Airport Extreme?.

Specifically these 2 pages plus what else I need to do. Thanks.

Based on the images, any TCP traffic coming in from the Internet on port 80 will be forwarded to the same port on a device on the local network with a Private IP address of 192.168.1.115.
    Some other considerations:
If you haven't already, you should make sure that the web server has either a static or DHCP-reserved IP address so that it doesn't change overtime.
Your ISP may block this port. As such, you may want to consider using another TCP port on the Public side, like 8888. When a user wants to access the web server, they would need to enter a URL like: http://mywebserver.com:8888
If you ISP is providing you with consumer-grade service, you will most likely have a dynamic Public IP address. Users are going to have difficulty accessing your website if the routers Public IP address changes. You may want to consider either upgrading to a business-grade service where the ISP will provide you with a static Public IP address or use a service like DynDNS.

  • NAT / Port Forwarding WRV200

Hi, I would like to access a Digital Video Recorder (192.168.3.200 port 12088) from the internet (Telenet/Belgium). I'm using a Cisco/Linksys WRV200 (192.168.3.254) to access the internet. I can access the WRV200 remotely (from Internet) and I've created following port forwards: Port 8016-8016 >>> 192.168.3.200 Port 12088-12088 >>> 192.168.3.200 Connecting to the DVR internally is working fine but accessing the DVR from the outside doesn't work for some reason. Any suggestions?

  • Port forwarding for Warcraft 3 - no other posts have helped me solve this :

    Hi everyone,
At risk of flogging a dead horse, I am having trouble with port forwarding/port mapping on my new AEBS and need help.
Warcraft 3 requires ports 6112-6119 open, which I had successfully set up through the Router Management Interface of my router (Speedstream 536 v6). Since I've set up the airport and run the router through it, I've been unable to host/join games on Warcraft, due to ports not being open.
I've since gone back in to the router setup and attempted to configure it. I've tried sending the open port traffic to the base station, to the computer, and a combination of each, but nothing seems to fix it.
Aside from port forwarding, it is working fine. My internet connection is flawless (a little slower than before airport ... or perhaps my imagination?), my Wii and XBOX360 both find the network fine (360 hard wired over ethernet due to wireless security issues ... see other threads!), but I can't play my warcraft games.
The help system (and some of the other threads on here) direct me to the Airport Utility -> Advanced -> Port Mapping. The problem is that on my advanced pane I only see:
    - Logging and SNMP
    - Bonjour
    - IPv6
I've tried restarting the AEBS but get no joy. Is there something I'm doing that is fundamentally wrong? Can anyone help me? I'm not sharing the connection with any other computers, just wii and xbox, if that makes any difference.
If there's anything else you'd need to know, please ask me.
I look forward to your responses, and any help is most appreciated.
    Regards,
    GH

The IP address of my iMac is 10.0.0.1; the address of the Speedtouch is 10.0.0.138; the AEBS is 10.0.0.2, and the xbox360 (which the speedtouch sees as "Generic device") is 10.0.0.4.
On the speedtouch setup page, there's a lot of long-winded gibberish which I don't really understand, but perhaps it'll be of some use to someone more knowledgable on the topic. Each device has the following information:
