WRT300N V2 pptp error

Hi.
I can't correct setup WRT300N V.2 for connect to ISP VPN Server.
I obtain IP address from ISP by DHCP (some think like 10.15.28.xxx)
ISP VPN IP - is 10.15.0.x
How correct setup this parameter in WTR300N.
I can't how setup DHCP address if I select "PPTP" in router.
And I can't see field for IP address for VPN server.
Any Idea?
BR,
Yury Nikulin

Hi… If your ISP provides you a connection through PPTP then you should have a Static IP and not a DHCP lease for this connection.

I had the same message with snow leopard server, did not have vpn working.
I fixed it by setting pptp enabled, with an IP address range, in the vpn tab of server admin. vpn is still not started, but this fixed the error - i dont know what process was calling pptp, but it seems be happy now.
Jabber still has no start/stop button, needs launchctl to make it go. such is life. just the odd log message about throttling the disk, felt like doing that myself occasionally.

    Hi!
I've got internet connection from my provider via VPN. After configuring network (article  Microsoft VPN client setup with pptpclient) internet works, but many error messages appears in daemon.log and messages.log like that:

After a few days this two log files are bigger then 2Gb. Could you please help me find out the reason of this messages?
    Best regards.

Hi, Joerg. Welcome to the Discussions.
    1. re: Smart Crash Reports error. "Smart Crash Reports" is an Unsanity hack. Either you installed it or it was perhaps installed by another of their hacks you have installed. In either case, that's a question for Unsanity to answer.
    2. re: The SpeedTools extension you cited. Check their documentation or their Web site for instructions on uninstalling the extension. You may be able to start up in Safe Mode (which prevents third-party kernel extensions from loading), then drag it from the Macintosh HD > System > Library > Extensions folder to your desktop, then restart your Mac. However, I'd check the SpeedTools documentation first. See my "Uninstalling applications" FAQ for important advice on uninstalling software.
    Good luck!

  • WRT300N Invalid Certificate Error

I'm trying to connect to my router on a new computer. I type in the IP address and I get an error that says:
"You have received an invalid certificate. Please contact the server administrator or email correspondent and give them the following information:
Your certificate contains the same serial number as another certificate issued by the certificate authority. Please get a new certificate containing a unique serial number."
I have connected to this router before on my old computer before it died. The only thing I have done is install the LinkSys software on this new computer, could that cause this error?
    Thank you for any help.

It's not the router. It's more of the settings of your browser. You need to lower down the security settings to avoid this problem. Try to go to tools->internet options->content. Clear the SSL, and delete the existing certificates there.

I am trying to connect to a Linux based VPN server.  I have double checked my username and password multiple times, made sure the MTU is set the same on client, server, and router, and tried turning the encryption off and on on the server and the client.  Nothing has made a difference, I get the same error every time.  I am able to FTP and SSH into the Linux box.
Any suggestions of other things to try would be much appreciated.  I saw some threads about editing config files on my mac but this is a brand new machine that I have had for a week running an OS that is on it's fourth point release.  I really should not have to muck around with config files but at this point I'm ready to try anything.

Looks like it might be a configuration error on the server's end. The VPN makes a connection and tries to read the server's configuration to create a socket for communication, but runs into a formatting error when it is passed an "End of File" character instead of a required component of the socket. Can you try connecting to another VPN server, or perhaps try an L2TP connection instead of PPTP?

    Sep 28 12:22:57 vivivold pppd744: MPPE disabled
And I just can't find the solution?!?!?!?!?! Anyone help? (and yes I have written the correct pass and username... )

    Anyone??? please??
I try to connect to vpn (it is the correct ip and all that)
And after 59sek (1 min) it stops and says "the connection were lost because the reciever did't respond, try again"
    And the console writes:
    Oct 12 08:25:30 vivivold pppd[3968]: PPTP error when sending echo_reply : Network is unreachable\n
    Oct 12 08:25:30 vivivold pppd[3968]: MPPE disabled

  • 10.6.4 VPN service issues

Hello, I have a OS X 10.6.4 box running the Workstation version of the software, and have installed iVPN on it to purportedly allow for it to behave as a VPN server. The iVPN software itself is apparently just a GUI for what you could do by hand with editing conf files. I have used the software to set up the VPN service and it appears to be running as a PPTP server, but upon connecting I get the following information in the log on the server:

On the machine I am connecting from, also a 10.6.4 Workstation box, I get the following in the console (note that the timestamps are different, but the content is what I see):

Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be the culprit, or perhaps have a better alternative in getting the machine to act as a VPN server short of buying the Server version of the OS or buying some dedicated VPN hardware?

I also have a similar issue. I configured OS X 10.6.5 for L2PT using a GUI software, but the vpnd dies occasionally, often very soon, leaving the following log. Do I need the OS X Server to get vpnd to actually work? A typical unix feature like this should be fixed immediately...

  • PPTP VPDN and Cisco Client errors

Hello there, i have configured a cisco 1841 router as a vpn server for microsoft pptp client access. When connecting outside my local lan it hangs at verifying username and password then gives me error 619 message "remote computer did not respond so port was closed". I am however able to connect on my local lan. I also have Cisco's VPN client configured on the router which works fine and able to receive emails in microsoft outlook but cannot send any emails. The emails just sit in the outbox till i connect to my local lan.Anyone who has experienced a similar problem? I have tried all the configs in the the forum and problem still persists. Any solutions?? Thanks

  • Error 798 with PPTP-EAP VPN (Windows 7 x64)

    Hello,
My work has a PPTP-EAP VPN which uses smart card authentication to login. I can connect just fine with the smart card, but I'm trying to setup the VPN connection so it can read the certificate from the local certificate store, instead of me having to insert
    the smart card every time.
I've placed the certificate from my smart card into the Personal certificate store, and I've edited the authentication properties of the PPTP VPN connection to "use a certificate on this computer". [BTW, in the Security tab under the Authentication section,
"Use Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP)" is select, and in the drop-down list, "Microsoft: Smart Card or other certificate (encryption enabled)" is selected.]
However, when I try to connect, I get the following error:
Error 798: A certificate could not be found that can be used with this Extensible Authentication Protocol.
What do I have to do so that Windows will know that the certificate I placed in my Personal store is to be used with the VPN connection?
    Thank you for any help.
    Regards,
    Jim

  • Nortel VPN connects and disconnects immediately. Error 6699 with PPTP

    Hi All,
I am using OS X Mavericks on my mac. I tried to connect to PPTP internet connection using the default client and paid clients like Shimo.I get connected and after a minute I get disconnected with 6699 error. I read a lot of discussions about this issue and I realised this issue exists from Pather days. Please help me out with this if you have a working solution.

  • Error 807/800 - using PPTP VPN from Windows 7/XP t...

    Hi,
I wonder if someone could help me? I've had this issue for about 3 months now and I’m completely at a loss now. I’m trying to connect remotely to a Windows 2003 server via Windows VPN (PPTP) from home. This had been working fine for months (Draytek 2830n purchased in Feb 2011), there has been no configuration changes beforehand to cause the problem.
    Problem
From Windows 7 PC – I receive Error 807 – “The network connection between your computer and the VPN server was interrupted. This can be caused by a problem in the VPN transmission and is commonly the result of internet latency or simply that your VPN server has reached capacity. Please try to reconnect to the VPN server. If this problem persists, contact the VPN administrator and analyze quality of network connectivity”
From a Windows XP PC – I receive Error 800 - Unable to establish the VPN connection. The VPN server may be unreachable, or security parameters may not be configured properly for this connection”
    Steps Taken
I have carried out the following steps to trying and resolve the issue:-
    Setup port 1723 on router(s)
Swapped out router for a completely different model
    Upgraded firmware on Drayek 2830N
Tried various laptops and desktop PCs running Windows XP and Windows 7
Switched off local windows firewalls and Norton Anti-virus software
Opted out of BT Web Address Help service
Rebuilt the Windows 2003 Server and setup remote access again.
Tested the desktops and laptops that didn’t work at home from various locations (work, friends houses) and they work fine from another location (so this rules out the Windows 2003
The only thing that I can’t swap out is my BT line to the Exchange. Any ideas or suggestions would be extremely helpful. I’m thinking it must be a problem with my ADSL connection, perhaps the traffic is being blocked (for some reason) as I’ve explored all other avenues. I’m out of contract with BT now (although I don’t want to move ISP) I might end up having to if it solves the problem.
    Many thanks for looking.
    Steve

posted in error as you've already looked at BT web address help. Sorry

  • WRT300N V1.1 Time Out Errors

I keep getting Time Out Errors when trying to connect wirelessly with this router. I go into the prefs, turn WiFi off, then back out.... usually that helps matters, and everyone can log back in... at least for a while, then it happens all over again. I can't really re-set the router.... this is a small office and loosing connectivity isn't an option, and re-setting the router shouldn't be required every few days anyway. Settings are: Network Mode: Mixed Radio Band Wide Wide Channel 3 Standard channel 5 - 2.432 Ghz Security Mode WPA2 Personal Encryption AES key Renewal 7200 Any ideas ?

Try changing few more settings on the router ....
    Click on Advanced Wireless
settings>>Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation
Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings" ....
