WRT54G reboots when connecting to PS3

Hi Guys,
I have a strange problem with my wireless connection to the PS3. The description is a little lengthy so kindly bear with me.
I bought a WRT54G v7 (UK) router especially so I can connect to my PS3 wirelessly. I've even upgraded to the latest router firmware 7.004 and I have also upgraded my PS3 firmware to the latest 1.93 version.
These are my settings:
Router IP: 192.168.1.10
PS3 settings (Static IP assigned)
IP address: 192.168.1.55
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Router: 192.168.1.10
DNS1: ISP's DNS (I've read that I can use Router IP in this field)
DNS2: ISP's DNS2 (I've read that this can be left blank)
On the Router, I have no wireless security enabled (no WEP, no WPA, no Mac Filtering). I have UPnP enabled. And I haven't tried port forwarding
On the PS3, in the security option (Disable, WEP, WPA) i chose the Disable option, MTU is set at Auto, no Proxy, and UPnP is enabled
As you can tell, I've chosen the manual method to connect to the PS3 because in automatic, the connection test fails at the Ip address check itself.
At first, The IP test would pass but the connection test would fail, telling me that it was a DNS error. After several attempts, the test passed and I was able to connect to PSN. I created an ID, browsed the store and even started downloading a Demo.
After being connected for a couple of hours, I suddenly disconnected. Then when I tried signing in to PSN, I got an error.
Now here's the real problem. When I tried the connection test under Settings, the IP test Succeeded, the Connection test Succeeded, but the moment the PSN test begins, the router restarts and the PSN test fails. Its almost like the router is not allowing my PS3 to access the internet although all the connection tests are successful.
Does anyone have any clue as to why this is happening? Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Sam

Hi ,
I also have the same problem as you. Then I tried to disable uPnP from your PS3 and your Linksys router. Then it's work normally.

  • MSI MS-6390LE-L reboots when connecting the internet

Built a new system with the MSI  MS-6390LE-L motherboard based on the KM266 chipset and Athlon CPU. It is rebooting when connecting to the internet (installed a SonicBlue Supra PCI modem). Now I read the small print burried in the specs that states: Must use proprietary PCI Modem card with PCTEL solution.
However there is no listing of modems on your site that will work! Does any  brand and model PC-Tel chipset modem work, if not then do any CNR modems work?

  • Wrt54g reboots when only vaio laptop connects

Running the wrt54g with no broadcast ID, MAC filtering, and WPA.It works great for all laptops I have except a sony vaio which does eventually work but only after it causes the router to reboot. This is mainly annoying since when others are connected the reboot can affect them. Once the router reboots [first time], the sony can be reconnected (as long as the router is powered up, it seems to remember something) and the router will not reboot a second or third time. I have done what I can with sony but alas, no joy. Other than this one laptop problem, I experience no others. Also upgraded to firmware 8.2, same problem. any suggestions? newbie22

Check if you have static ip assigned on Lenovo computer.
If yes, then set it on “Obtain an IP automatically” to do so follow this link .
If it is already on “Obtain an IP automatically” then try to upgrade/re-flash the firmware of the router.
To do that first download the firmware from here and then follow the below mentioned steps
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Now login to the setup page of the router and check the firmware version of the router it should be updated.

  • Computer reboots when connecting ipod to USB cable.

Has this happened to anyone else?
All of a sudden now, whenever I connect my ipod to the USB cable, it makes my computer reboot! And it doesn't stop rebooting until I disconnect the ipod!
I have no idea why this is happening, and I don't know how to make it stop.
I am really starting to lose my faith in EVERY item that Apple has created.

When I connect my ipod to USB immediately following taking it off my AC adapter, it causes my computer (PC, XP) to restart.
Reinstall Windows. This has nothing to do with iTunes or any other Apple software, because that functionality is entirely Windows based.
If reinstalling windows fresh (and doing all the updates) doesn't fix it, then you have a hardware problem on the PC.

  • Mac Mini reboots when connected TV is switeched off

    Hi,
I have connected my Mini to my Samsung LCD-TV (LE40R5) via DVI-to-HDMI adapter cable, i.e. I use the HDMI input of the TV. The audio output of the mini goes via optical connection to my audio-decoder station.
When I run FrontRow to listen to music and then turn off the TV with the TV's remote control (because I have selected the correct music-play-list in FrontRow and now just want to hear music without the need of havig the TV running) then about 2 seconds later the mini starts a reboot!
This is reproducable and only happens since I did the last Mac-SW-update (about a week agao, ~middle of april).
FYI:Before the SW-upgrade no reboot happend, but the apple-remote was no more working without running TV. Now the apple-remote works but the mini reboots )-:
Does anyone have the same issue and has a solution for avoiding the reboot???
    Any help very much appreciated!

    Hi,
Yes the external driv might be an idea.
In the meantime I found out that the problem only appears when I listen music via Front Row. However, if I listen music directly from iTunes then I can switch off the TV and the mini stays awake.
So the reboot problem must be within Front Row.
Does anybody have an idea if Front Row can be configured in any way?
Is there a configuration program for it ?

  • How do you stop phone from rebooting when connected to internet?

i have been experiencing problems w my 8900 when i'm connected to the internet. whenever i'm on internet it reboots by itself. can sumone tell me how i can solve this issue

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Anytime random strange behaviors creep in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

  • My HP LaserJet CM1415fnw Printer keeps rebooting when connected to my ethernet router.

I bought my HP Laserjet CM1415fnw Color printer in 2013 (don't remember the exact date). The CM1415fnw printer is plugged into its own AC power outlet and has been connected to a NETGEAR Nighthawk router for the past 2 years. My network and computers have not changed in the past 3 years. About a month ago, July of 2015, the printer started rebooter itself about every few minutes. These are the things that I have tried: 1. I turned off the printer for several minutes via the power off switch located on the side of the printer. This failed to solve my reboot issue.2. I turned off the printer for over night via the power off switch located on the side of the printer. This failed to solve my reboot issue.3. I unplugged the printer from the AC power outlet for several minutes and over night. printer. This failed to solve my reboot issue.4. I turned off the printer setting "WS-Discovery" with no success. It continued to reboot.5. I turned off the printer and Unplugged the ethernet cable and phone line cable from the printer. I then turned it on. Itstayed on for hours without rebooting. I plugged the ethernet cable and it continued to stay on without rebooting for over an hour. I then plugged in the phone line cable and within a minute the printer starting rebooting again. I unplugged the phone line cable again and the printer stopped rebooting. My wife and I have been printing happily. Problem solve! NO! This past week, on July 27 2015, the printer started rebooting again. I went through the same steps above except this time whenever plugging in the ethernet cable, within and few minutes the printer would start its rebooting. Sometime between reboots it would stay up long enough to print a job. Other things that I have tried: 1. I connected the printer directly to my workstation computer via the USB port and plugged in the phone line cable. This work great for hours. I could print jobs. No rebooting. It is just not the solution the I need. I need a network printer.2. I connected the printer directly to my laptop ethernet port with phone cable connected. This worked also. So while in this configuration I took the opportunity to upgrade the Firmware from date 20120216 to 20140616. 3. I reconnected the printer to my network router and the printer started rebooting again within a few minutes. I did notice that in between reboots, with the phone line cable plugged in, anytime a phone call came in the printer immediately rebooted. I have mulitple home devices that rely on network connectivity to this printer. SO, right now this printer is offline toeveryone. I need to get this problem resolved ASAP.  I have a temporary work around item #6. But, I need a real solution. Can someone please help. My Configuration: HP LaserJet CM1415fnwFormatter Number: QD51YOP
    Serial Number: CNH8C9KRHB
    Service ID: 21334
    FIrmware Datecode: 20140616
    Telcom Version: 04-015-001
    Controller NUmber: 4

I wish to thank you davidzuts and muj851 for your quick response and help in this issue. I will give you the short story of my troubleshooting efforts and solution. I was able to isolate the printer reboot to my wife's computer located in another part of the house. Anytime that I connected her computer the the network the printer would start rebooting within a minute. I then uninstalled all HP printer software. I then reconnected her computer to the network. Within a minute the printer went into reboot mode. After a few install and uninstall of the HP printer soffware and drivers I took notice that the printer device for my printer still appeared after uninstalling the software and drivers. I clicked on the printer device and manually removed it. After rebooting the computer within a few minutes there was a system message stating that the device driver was being install. Reinstalling the Printer software and drivers create a new instance of the CM1415FNW Printer. Uninstalling removed all but the orignal printer device. Connected the network caused the printer to reboot. So, looked at the printer queue and found that there was a document in the queue waiting to be printed. The status of the printer showed that the document was ready for print but then the printer would reboot and the status would appear as ERROR Printing. I cancelled the print job and the document in the queue was removed. I then removed the Printer Device. When I connected my wife's computer to the network the printer did not reboot. I have reinstatlled HP Printer software for the CM1415FNW printer and everything has been working fine for the past two days. A conversation with my wife uncovered that the day all of the issues with the printer started she attempted to print a Barnes and Nobles discount coupon. Something with the printer formating codes or the B&N coupon was causing the printer to reboot. The next time this happens I will know to check the print queue.

  • IPod causing my laptop to crash and reboot when connecting to USB !!

    Hello all,
Here is what I am working with, 30 GB , 5th gen Video iPod with Itunes 7.6.2.9
    Problem:
I have had my Sony Vaio laptop with Vista for a couple of months and it had been humming along just fine with my 30GB Video iPod. After loading some new pics via Itunes recently I noticed that the capacity used information in the About section of the iPod was incorrect, my iPod was showing 1gig left, and I only have 500 songs, 600 photos, 3 videos and some podcasts loaded. Itunes showed I had plenty of space left so that contradicted what the Ipod reflected. So after some googling I found that the recommended solution was to restore your iPod and reload all your music back via Itunes. Little did I know that trying to solve that little problem would create a far greater one.
First using an external hard drive (Western Digital) I backed up all of my music from Itunes. I then started the restore process via Itunes, during the restore my computer hung and froze. Then my computer crashed and rebooted. When it came back up I plugged the iPod back into the USB to complete the restore, this time however my laptop did not recognize my iPod (note, it is empty, with no music since I did the restore). Instead my system assigned it a drive letter G: in the my computer section. A message box pops up asking if I want to scan and check or skip this new drive, it also says scan is recommended. I selected the scan and it checked the Ipod with no problems. If I elect not to scan the iPod then the computer will crash within 30 seconds. After it scans it appear s as if it is going to synch up, iPod says ‘do not disconnect’, then bam, computer crashes and reboots with the black screen. I tried various troubleshooting steps and each time when plugging the iPod in Itunes it starts up and it takes maybe 1 minute trying to recognize it when the computer crashes and reboots automatically going to the black screen and doing a file dump. It seems that no matter what I do Itunes does not recognize the iPod, the system sees it as a mass storage device, hence I am unable to complete the restore.
To troubleshoot I have done the following without any luck:
    - Removed Itunes (3x, using different versions) and reinstalled it, tried again
    to restore nothing, still crashing
    - Removed and reinstalled Quicktime as stand alone, still same thing. Note: for some reason on Vista you have to have Quicktime installed separate as stand alone and not select the automatic bundle version that comes with Itunes otherwise you will get a separate error that won’t allow you to open Itunes and it will say it’s corrupt. I spent hours on just this problem.
    - Downgraded my Itunes to an older version. Same problem.
    - Upgraded ITunes to the latest and greatest, 7.6.2.9, nada.
    - Reformatted my ipod at the command line, so as to bypass my computer from doing it, plugged it back in, this time it went a little longer before it crashed when Itunes came up.
    - Downloaded and installed all the latest Vista patches and fixes.
    - Downloaded and installed the latest Sony patches and fixes.
    - Re-assigned the drive letter on my Ipod, changed it to “Ipod”, “P”, and lastly “Q”, still shows up on my system as that drive letter, then Ipod. Another time it showed up just as drive letter, and “mass storage device”. Still Itunes is not recognizing it.
    - Plugged the iPod into different USB ports, 3 different ones, still same.
    - Checked each USB port, a sound does come on for each port when either plugging in the Ipod or another device, all ports recognize when a device is plugged in.
    - Made sure no other devices are plugged into the USB ports.
    - Disabled every single USB port via Device Manager, then plugged in Ipod, at that point it didn’t even recognize it.
    - Disabled every single USB port, except for 1, then plugged in Ipod, recognized in computer but not Itunes, then Itunes tries to recognize it, during that time my computer crashes and reboots
    - Disabled and reenabled every single USB port, then tried. Ipod is recognized in device manager but not Itunes. Ipod shows message “do not disconnect” for awhile, seems like its working… then bam, my laptop crashes. By the way, Itunes does come up and all my music is there.
    I also did this:
Reset the iPod using these steps:
    - Disconnect iPod.
    - Make sure the 'hold' switch is not on.
    - Press and hold the 'menu' and 'select' (circle) buttons simultaneously.
    - Keep holding them both down for at least five seconds.
    - The iPod displays the apple logo and properly resets.
In summary, I have spent over 30 hours working on this problem. Bottom line is Vista is assigning a lettered drive to the iPod thinking it is a mass storage device, hence it is not being recognized in Itunes enabling it to complete the restore. To complicate matters before you can do much troubleshooting the *laptop crashes and reboots within 3 minutes of plugging the iPod into any of the USB ports.* !!!
This is just utterly insane, don't know what else to do. For starters stopping my laptop from crashing everytime it is plugged in would be nice !
    Losing it in L.A.

+I tried various troubleshooting steps and each time when plugging the iPod in Itunes it starts up and it takes maybe 1 minute trying to recognize it when the computer crashes and reboots automatically going to the black screen and doing a file dump.+
I'm curious about this point. Is there any flash of a blue screen at any point here? (That's a more familiar sort of thing to be seeing prior to the system doing a restart after a serious error.)

  • WRT54G (v7) reboots when notebook connects

    Hey folks!
I really have a weired issue here...
My WRT54G (Version 7) was running just perfect for a couple of years already... I've bough a new Netbook recently and when this netbook connects to the router it takes about 10 seconds and the WRT54G reboots itself again and again.
You know, I really see a lot of PC problems, but this one just odd
Just like I said it was running perfect for years.
    I have two notebooks here:
    - My old one (ASUS X-52SA, running Win7 Ultimate)
    - and the new netbook: A Lenovo S10-3t, running Win7 Home premium.
When I'm working with the ASUS, everthing's fine. I've sent a "ping 192.268.1.1 -t" from it to the router and the WRT is responding well.
As soon as I connect the Lenovo to the WRT (not matter if I'm doing this via WiFi or LAN-cable!!!) the ping will show about 3 timeouts on the ASUS. The ping is OK then for another 7 seconds before it goes dead again. This goes on and on...
On the Router itself I can see that it's really rebooting then.
    - When the ping times out, the router really is rebooting (all LEDs are off, shorty after it all of 'em will flash for a short time).
    - And it's rebooting and rebooting and rebooting...
I really haven't seen this before in my whole career...
I though I would just update the Firmware and everything's will be fine - until I found out that the v7 cannot be upgraded somehow...
Does anyone of you guys have an idea what the reboot could cause?
(I'm sorry for my grammar - English is not my native language )
    Best regards,
    Michel

  • WRT54GS v5.1 auto reboot when wireless device connects

    Hi,
I'm using the linksys WRT54GS wireless router v5.1
    Current Firmware version v1.50.9, Sep. 14, 2006
The problem that I have is that everytime a new device connects to the Router wirelessly, the router reboots itself.
After the reboot, everything seems to be working fine. This becomes quite annoying when it comes to gaming and another family member turns on their laptop and then I get disconnected by the router because they are connecting.
What I have done upto now is reset the router after doing the FirmWare Version update and the problem still occurs. (The problem was still there even before I had done a FirmWare Update.)
Is there a way to solve this problem? because I have read about a few other problems just like mine on the forums and they don't seem to have been resolved.
Or will I have to go back to PCWORLD to see if I can get a refund / replacement?

I do not see a "keep alive" option. I use the Automatic Configuration - DHCP because I have connected, a CABLE MODEM provided by my cable provider Telewest Blueyonder
The router just reboots when the wireless laptops connect. The wired desktop (this PC) loses connection as it is rebooting and regains connection after the reboot. Then both PC and Laptop work fine.

  • How can I connect two PS3 to the same Linksys WRT54G correctly

    Hi,
i'm trying to connect two PS3 to the same routeur without having conflicts. Everytime i try to update my game softwares it tells me error 80710723 or now 8002AD23. I gave the two PS3 different IP adresses, i opened all the ports that Playstation suggested me to open (http://playstation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/241) and gave them different DNS adresses but still they cannot download any software content without bugging the console. I also use a PC, Tablet and Phone with my wireless connection.
    thank you
    -François

Well in this case the error code (80710723 ) is generated when the internet connection is slow. So you can try the following step:
    # Open up the browser and on the address bar type 192.168.1.1 that will open up the Router setup page.
    # Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
    # Make the Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
#Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
~~ Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 75
~~ Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
~~ Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2304

    Any ideas...
I plug it in, it finds new hardware...thinks its a camera...and reboots itself.

Not much use having a camera phone if I have to delte the photos to connect to my computer

No, it is a conflict with the webcam driver. It is a well known problem. You probably did not uninstall the driver correctly or uninstalled the wrong driver, but the best fix is to update the driver to the latest version, which does not have this bug.
The reason it doesn't happen if you have no photos is the iPhone does not register as a digital camera if there are no photos in the camera roll.

  • My PC reboot when I connect iPhone 3G V2.2

    If anyone could advise, please.
At the first time when I connected my iPhone with my PC via iTunes, there was no problem. But when I took some photos using my iPhone and tried to reconnect it to the PC then my PC detected the iPhone as "Still Digital Camera" and suddenly rebooted itself (PC reboot not iPhone). So I tried removing all my photos in camera roll in iPhone and reconnect it to my PC again. This time it's detected as iPhone and can be sync normally.
How should I solve the problem??

Do you have a Logitech webcam?
If so, this is caused by outdated drivers for the webcam, and installing the latest drivers for the webcam should resolve the problem.
When you iPhone includes photos in the Camera Roll, it is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer, so this is normal. Photos captured by your iPhone are stored in the Camera Roll as well as photos saved from a received email or from a website.
