[wvdial, ppp] ATDT invalid dial command

Strange problem. I can't go on the internet since I made a pacman -Su. There's a problem with ppp or something in the arch configuration (modules??).
I have a serial external hardware modem that had always worked easily, BUT now wvdial cannot connect. The problem does not come from wvdial, I'm pretty sure of that.
[root@myhost fred]# wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.60
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
ATZ
OK
--> Sending: ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
OK
--> Modem initialized.
--> Sending: ATDT5145992743
--> Waiting for carrier.
ATDT5145992743
ERROR
--> Invalid dial command.
--> Disconnecting at Sun Jun 1 15:44:18 2008
The only error I had doing the update was when compiling the new kernel26 (standard from arch). I had to remove "kermaps" in my mkinitcpio.conf because the hook keymaps was not found. After removing that, while keeping the old settings (my old mkinitcpio was not replaced during process, it made a .pacnew), everything went well.
Except now wvdial doesn't work. I have the same rc.conf than before, the same mkinitcpio was used and it keeped the same ppp settings or the wvdial.conf. Everything I could look at is like before except it's more up to date and my kernel is also newer, I have the last one, kernel26 package.
I tried all that :
-Reinstalling wvdial, wvstreams and ppp and deleting all config files in /etc/ppp, reinstalling them or replacing them with working ubuntu config files
-Deleting and rebuilding /etc/wvdial.conf, adding stupid mode on... but this file was not modified in process and it had always worked for me anyway...
-Tried to add in wvdial.conf DIAL COMMAND = ATDP (for pulse dialing) but it changed nothing
-tried rebulding the kernel with more options like (can't remember the exact name) adding the ppp module in mkinitcpio

  • No dialer command under ISDN BRI interface

    Hi all,
    I have a 2901 router voice bundle with 4 ISDN BRI ports and would like to have them bundled under Dialer1 interface. Unfortunately it doesn't give me option for Dialer command under BRI interface as expected.

    I assume it's down to the UC license installed on the device but not sure. Does the ISDN BRI interface behave in different way under this license?

  • Asterisk 1.8.7. Where is "DIAL" command?

    Hello,
    I just installed asterisk from AUR and I can run the server correctly
    without any problems.
    # rc.d start asterisk [DONE]
    # asterisk -rvvvvv
    and I have a CLI.
    Now...
    I opened the book "Asterisk: The Definitive Guide" to play with my fresh
    installation of Asterisk.
    I realized that under Arch, every configuration file of Asterisk has a ".default" suffix.
    There is no active config files after installation!!!  Why is that?
    I simply renamed every "xxx.conf.default" to "xxx.conf" and followed the examples in the book.
    In the Asterisk's CLI, most commands are unavailable.
    For example, there is no "reload".
    There is no "dial", there is no "console".
    I'm wondering why on Arch, asterisk is like this?
    I just want to start using asterisk based on the book and other online
    tutorials. All Asterisk tutorials assume that once you've installed asterisk,
    the "DIAL" command is available.
    The wiki lacks enough information on this issue.
    I searched the forum and did not find anything on this.
    Please HELP.

    Hello hexanol,
    Thanks for your prompt reply.
    With chan_oss.so, DIAL and CONSOLE are available.
    I tried to load this module manually.
    arch*CLI> module load chan_oss.so
    Loaded chan_oss.so
    == Parsing '/etc/asterisk/oss.conf': == Found
    == Registered channel type 'Console' (OSS Console Channel Driver)
    Loaded chan_oss.so => (OSS Console Channel Driver)
    arch*CLI>
    But with chan_alsa.so, it fails like this:
    arch*CLI> module load chan_alsa.so
    Unable to load module chan_alsa.so
    Command 'module load chan_alsa.so' failed.
    == Parsing '/etc/asterisk/alsa.conf': == Found
    == No sound card detected -- console channel will be unavailable
    == Turn off ALSA support by adding 'noload=chan_alsa.so' in /etc/asterisk/modules.conf
    arch*CLI>
    By the way, I'm running asterisk as root, and alsamixer finds the sound card.
    I can play wave files when using asterisk user.
    # asterisk
    $ aplay /home/behzad/alaram.wav
    and I plays the file.
    Do you know what is the problem?
    Why asterisk is unable to detect the sound card from CLI.
    Please let me know.

  • 500 invalid port command

    I have a large site that changes monthly _ I keep getting a
    FTP 500 invalid port command message and the file does not upload
    which means I have to go through the whole thing manually.( I'm
    using Dreamweaver MX). I gather this is a Windows problem - does
    anyone know of a fix
    Many thanks for any advice

    After a client initiates an FTP session, the server establishes a new back connection to the client. This connection extends from the server (outside the firewall boundaries) to a dynamically allocated port number on the client computer. Because the port number is not known in advance, old packet filters open the entire range of high-numbered ports (greater than 1023) for incoming connections. This reconnection at a higher port is done with the following FTP command:
    This reconnection at a higher port is done with the following FTP command:
    port h1, h2, h3, h4, p1, p2
    The values of h1 through h4 are octets of the client IP address. The last two values of p1, and p2 are used to determine the port. The following formula is for p1, and p2:
    p1 X 256 + p2 = port
    If the Firewall Network Address Translation (NAT) does not correctly change this IP address (h1 through h4), the server generates the error message.
    The following sample command is an example of a port command:
    port 10,20,30,40,5,25 = (IP Address: 10.20.30.40 / Port: 1305)

    Hello Michael,
    I think for the AAA provided callback string to work, you need to configure 'dialer aaa' on your dialer interface. Check the following document for a sample configuration:

  • 8800 Voice Dialing / Commands

    Hi!
    I am struggling with a serious problem, doing voice dialing. I received my 8800, with the Firmware 4.2.1.101. I tried to do voice dialing via name out of my phone book. But by the end it states, that no phone book entry was found. I thought, maybe it is my personal voice, so I asked my wife and a colleague  to try it. But allways the same result.
    I tried to do voice dialling with the 8800 of my colleague, it works. We also compared the settings, they are the same.
    But to my surprise, I tested to do voice dialing via saying the number. This works without any problem. Also all the other commands are recognized well. Thus, I do not believe it is a problem with the microphone.
    I did some internet research without any success.  Hopefully here some can give me an information which helps.
    I am not sure, but, is there a possibility, that the link between the voice dialing module and the phone book module is broken? I am just guessing..
    I appretiate your help!
    Regards

    You also need to include middle initial, which is why I never use it.
    The design for the voice dialing app is terrible. You should be able to say a last name and get a list of first names to choose from. It should also have a dictionary of common nicknames, so if you say "Jon Smith" and you only have a "Jonathon Smith", it will guess to use that one.
    At the very least, you should not have to remember middle initials to use voice dialing.

  • Invalid SQL command after upgrading to Oracle 9i

    After upgrading to Oracle 9i, the SQL queries in some of our existing reports are no longer valid.  The Oracle error returned is "old style outer join () can not be used with ANSI joins". It appears that the SQL query generated by Crystal Reports is correct in that it uses "LEFT OUTER JOIN" instead of just naming the tables separated by a comma, but it also includes the "()" qualifer on the matching columns which is no longer allowed.  Is there any way to overcome this error short of rewriting the reports based on a command?

    Hello,
    A couple suggestions come to mind.
    Business Objects tend to take problematic SQL generation very seriously at least on the SQL and Oracle platforms (due to their widespread use) and I would first grab the latest database/engine hotfixes to be certain it hasn't been tracked and corrected already. If you can clearly reproduce this issue (sounds like you can) then it should be easy to convince the support team at BOBJ to track the issue. However...
    Since their hotfix release cycle is rather slow especially for items that have workarounds (even sometimes painful workarounds) you may want to consider using a Stored Procedure instead of a Command.
    Commands have a notorious history of issues/limitations that tend to burn you later - especially when you have to update many reports. A stored procedure would likely render the + qualifier a moot point.
    Cheers, Dylan

  • E52 Voice Dialing & Commands

    Just bought an E52 last night and assured from sales team the voice activation and dialing was fantastic.  So far not managed to call once using voice dialing.  It will not recognise any name I try.  My old 5310 had a training exercise to run through as part of the setup and it worked really well.  Getting frustrated now!  Any help appreciated please.  R

  • Netcfg2 with ppp (3G, UMTS) ?

    Hey guys,
    I'm currently using wvdial and a profile for that to bring up my 3G connection.
    /etc/wvdial.conf
    [Dialer Defaults]
    Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
    Baud = 460800
    [Dialer three]
    Phone = *99***1#
    Username = three.ie
    Password = three.ie
    Stupid Mode = 1
    Dial Command = ATDT
    Init2 = ATZ
    Init3 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
    Init4 = AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","3internet"
    Auto DNS = off
    Check DNS = off
    How do I make use of netcfg2's PPP capabilities? I see it looks in /etc/ppp/peers/ for a config file there... I tried putting in PEER="wvdial" (there's such a file there) but that didn't work at all.
    Any suggestions?

    To use netcfg's ppp abilities, you can't use vwdial. You use pppd directly, by writing a peers file and a chat script. I've set up using my phone as a bluetooth modem, but I haven't actually tried yet if it works. But anyway, based on my knowledge this could work:
    /etc/ppp/peers/three
    connect "/usr/sbin/chat -f /etc/ppp/three.chat"
    /dev/ttyUSB0
    460800
    crtscts
    defaultroute
    usepeerdns
    noauth
    novj
    novjccomp
    nobsdcomp
    nopcomp
    noaccomp
    user three.ie
    password three.ie
    /etc/ppp/three.chat
    TIMEOUT 35
    ECHO ON
    ABORT '\nBUSY\r'
    ABORT '\nERROR\r'
    ABORT '\nNO ANSWER\r'
    ABORT '\nNO CARRIER\r'
    ABORT '\nNO DIALTONE\r'
    ABORT '\nRINGING\r\n\r\nRINGING\r'
    '' \rAT
    OK 'AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","3internet"'
    OK ATD*99***1#
    CONNECT ""
    /etc/network.d/three
    CONNECTION="ppp"
    PEER="three"
    What I *do* know that works is setting up pppoe. It's very similar, the peers file has a few different options in it and there's no chat script, but otherwise same principle.

  • Vodafone uk huawei wvdial.conf script workin

    Hi,
    so far I was only able to get the UMTS modems working with wvdial.conf. The only problem is to find the correct wvdial.conf scripts for the mobile phone provider.
    Here a script which I found here:
    [url][http://secretlondon.livejournal.com/430709.html/url]
    Worked for me with a a huaweo 169 usb stick on vodafone uk
    [Dialer Defaults]
    Modem = /dev/ttyUSB0
    Baud = 3600000
    Init1 = ATZ
    Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2
    Init3 =
    Area Code =
    Phone = *99***2#
    Username = ppp
    Password = ppp
    Ask Password = 0
    Dial Command = ATDT
    Stupid Mode = 1
    Compuserve = 0
    Force Address =
    Idle Seconds = 0
    DialMessage1 =
    DialMessage2 =
    ISDN = 0
    Auto DNS = 1
    Hope someone will find this information useful.

    Use wvdialconf to setup an initial wvdial.conf if your wvdial.conf is the source of the problem. Otherwise look in the thread above and at my reply to that thread further down (2 more links).
    I really need to setup that wiki entry on connecting to 2G/3G mobile internet - but right now uni doesn't give my any time.

  • [Solved] PCMCIA gprs/edge and wvdial, don't work

    Hi all...
    I have bought a pcmcia gprs/edge Lightspeed EDGE-100M, but don't work.
    I load the modules pcmcia, pcmcia_core, rsrc_nonstatic, yenta_socket (I have found they whit hwdetect --show-pcmcia).
    PCMCIA it comes recognized like ttyS0.
    I run wvdial but I got "Modem not responding".
    I have also added line "options usb_serial vendor=0x0279 product=0x950b" into /etc/modprobe.conf but I don't got any results.
    Thanks
